If you want to reliably care for someone who is dependent on you, it is horrifically irresponsible to turn to crime and risk being taken away from them. You're not going to pay for much of anything from the inside of a prison cell.

I have a friend who works a lot of odd jobs and construction, and almost every day he passes homeless people on the street, pulls over, and offers to pay them $10/hour to work for him for the day. Not one of them have ever taken him up on it, they'd rather sit on the side of the road with a sign and hope people throw money at them than do actual work.

You're forgetting that not all of them can work a job that pays enough.

It is possible that some of them are fakes. I wouldn't guess a homeless person to do that.

On the other hand, for any of them that are legitimately homeless, that doesn't make any sense. Why wouldn't they? Are they on drugs?

On average, homeless people make well over ten bucks an hour.

I was able to pay bills and feed my family for minimum wage.

How well do you think the "homeless" can live off of 15 an hour? That's just on average, not counting the good stretches where they might be able to get 50 or more in an hour.

I make a little over $100 a day. Do the math. Scam artists gonna scam.

Also, naive is only an insult to the naive. A wise person would realize that we're all naive.
