{Set up}

Space has always been considered the final frontier, but it is also the most dangerous. Earth had invested heavily into space exploration, but only recently had it made any success. A planet far out past Pluto in a different solar system was found to have the ability to support life. The Space Station Tyo was established in its orbit to collect more information on the planet. Over the next few months the researchers confirmed that the planet had life and a human friendly atmosphere. Until now no humans had been allowed on the planet’s surface.

A team of specialists was deployed to the station to become the first explorers on the planet. This team codenamed EXO was a collection of humans with variable skills to aid in the exploration. On the day of deployment the EXOs entered the drop pods and were launched to the surface.

The mission was a success. The EXOs were able to expand the stations research potential exponentially. Within another few months the station planned to set up a lab on the surface. A new team of EXOs was organized to do this mission and all seemed like a success.

Eight EXOs and a group of thirty scientists prepared a shuttle to take to the surface and be used as a ferry between the station and lab as it was built. Then everything fell apart. Unknown to the EXOs or anyone else a ninth EXO had remained behind, and sabotaged the station. He had planned to destroy the station before the shuttle launched, but the flight had been moved up. The shuttle only barely made it into the planet’s atmosphere before the station exploded. Debris rained down around them, and pelted the ship. Most of its systems were knocked out, and it only just made a crash landing. None of the scientists survived, and the ship was too damaged to fly again without massive repairs. You know rescue will not come, so it is time to complete your mission.

{EXO’s}

The Exo’s are human pilots of mechanized suits. The suits they pilot were created originally to assist in the building of Tyo Station. When their potential as a way to explore the alien planet was realized the suits were re-designed and customized for the specialist who would pilot them.

each suit is designed specifically for each pilot. No two are the same. Some pilots have even customized their suits further to their own likings. Each EXO has their own special set of skills, and were hand picked for just that.

Work Skills: (this skill defines what your character would excel in.)

Engineer (sorry, but I had to pick one and
well…)

Geologist/chemist

{Planet 4578}

This alien world has similar climates to earth, but has more continent then ocean. The planet is capped with artic poles like earth, and follows similar climate dispersion. Below the artic is temperate areas, below that are deserts, and at the equator rainforests. Few species on the planet have been researched heavily yet, and those that have share basic traits like those of earth animals, but many new and strange ones. The crash zone was in the southern part of the north temperate zone.

{Earth}

the planet we all hail from. Its still not the greatest place really even in the year four thousand there is a lot of political issues and all sorts of nonsense going on there. Space exploration has become very important as it has become harder to find places to live, and the moon colony was far too problematic in its construction to be used on full sized planets.

{Rules}
This is a survival style RP. I expect things to break, I expect people to get sick, and I expect you to treat it as a life or death situation. Yes you are EXOs but that doesn’t make you invincible. The suits will sustain their energy levels, unless their generator breaks, so you needn’t worry about that, but the armor, weapons, and other systems that take a beating will need repair and maintenance.

EXO suits cannot be lived in twenty four seven. It is physically demanding to use the suit even though it improves physical prowess. You also will need to eat and drink, which isn’t so easy to do through a helmet, trust me I’ve tried. Not to mention it get’s hot in those things. (That is one draw back of them btw. They overheat after a while since they have to produce their own energy.)

Play to your character strengths. If you are a marine don’t go trying to repair advanced devices without some help from the engineer. If you are the scout please don’t try and do surgery that’s the medic’s job.

I’m the GM, and I expect you to understand that things may not always benefit everyone. If something happens to you in the story I am not doing it to you for any reason other than the story and that you were the one who got picked by luck. I’m here to help you though. If you have questions ask me. I will remove you if you are inactive for far too long though, and re-open the spot.

Name: First (middle optional) Last

Nickname: (optional)

Age: (17-42)

Gender: (M or F)

Appearance: Paragraphs and pic (the picture is optional the writing is not). I want to know their physical appearance and their typical clothes. It isn’t required for you to wear any combat armor or anything like that though you obviously can.
Background: You’re history before the EXOs, on earth, and on the station(if you were on the station before being and EXO), and you’re experience as one. Note this is the first ground mission EVER.

Personality: I want to know who this person is almost as well as they do. Also how they cope with stress, their ideals, and a few quotes by them or another person (real or from the IC world).

EXO suit: (name, appearance (pic is ok), weapons, and other notable features. These suits are generally only a little larger than the pilot. Think War Monger from Iron Man, but each one is made specifically for its pilot, so EX. I’m playing the engineer so mine is built so I can still be dexterous while working with machines. A marine’s might be a much bigger one made for combat.)

Work skill:

Personal weapons: (one large and two small. Ex. Sniper rifle and two pistols. OR four small Ex. Two knives two pistols.)
Survival gear: (try to work off of what others brought so that everyone is equipped. Five items. Ex. Tent, flares, canteen, hatchet, tool kit)

RP example: (I’m looking for a rather large example based on this RP. I do NOT want previous work. I want an original one based on this RP. You need to Rp the scenario of your preparation for the mission which begins tomorrow. You’ve been on this station almost a year now as one of the EXOs and you are finally getting your first mission down on planet 4578. I want to see that personality and background come up in this.)

RP theme song: this is fully optional, but if you had to put a theme song to the RP what would it be?

((I apologize for the crudeness of the post I'm working to refine it as we go. I find the OOC is usually easier to work on over time, and this way you guys can start working on characters.))
Anyway so heres my character so far. you guys have me so excited that I had to post him even though I still have edits to make,

Name:
Izic Jacker

Age: 28

Gender: M

Appearance: Izic’s age doesn’t show in his looks. He could easily pass for some a good ten years older than him. He’s around six foot tall, and has a very average weight. A mop of shaggy dark brown hair cover the top of his head. His amber eyes make him look like he is always thinking. It’s the stubble on his chin and the wrinkles by his eyes and jaw that make Izic seem old. He’s just gotten them over the years, but no one really knows why. Izic doesn’t care as his physical appearance isn’t the most important thing to him. With oil in his blood Izic has always found it on his hands as well. His skin is also a bit tanned from using torches often in his work, this also got him tan lines around where his goggles would be.

Oh and uhm… his left arm got cut off. He has gotten a mechanical replacement for it, but its not subtle. The arm is completely metal, so it stands out. The arm itself has no special features, but replicates his dexterity perfectly as well as being articulated just as a normal hand world be.

Izic’s wardrobe would consist of cargo pants, and solid dark colored shirts. He typically would wear a black pair of cargo pants and a dark green shirt when going piloting. He’s got a pair of rather generic black sneakers. Those welding goggles he has are always with him just because he likes having them. He also has a black military style vest.

Background: Izic has a long history with the station. His dad was one of the mechanics for the station, and thusly he and Izic lived up there after it was built. Izic’s mother didn’t support his father’s ambitions to join the space program, and their marriage just didn’t last. So Izic was raised by just his father. His years on earth we nothing special really.

As the station was under construction Izic and his father went up to join the crews. Well technically Izic was just there since there weren’t many other options. Izic was only twelve or so when they did, and it was terrifying. Yes shuttles were much less intense and were safe for an everyday person to ride on. Izic was only a kid, and what could anyone really expect? Once they were on the station Izic was fine, but Izic refused to get on the shuttle again for a good couple more years.

With the station mostly completed and the interior work, things like computers, doors, etc. being the main focus Izic got to grow up seeing his father work. He took great interest into it even, but the one thing that caught his attention more was the exo suits used for the major construction. They were amazing to him. A marvel of technology. Eventually he was assigned to the engineering division, and got to work with and inside of them.

In that time Izic had his accident. He’d been doing a run in an astral EXO, one of the exterior repair units, and there was an issue with the airlock. He came in the first door and it shut, but the second wouldn’t open. The oxygen wouldn’t activate to refill the room. Izic attempted to fix it from inside the airlock, but as he repaired it the system went back online and the machinery activated. This included a safety device which would seal off the oxygen system in case of fire. Izic’s arm was still in the machinery as the heavy doors slammed shut. Even with the suit on the doors were made to resist the vacuum of space and easily crushed Izic’s arm. By the time he was able to get out of there it was pointless to keep the dead limb, so they removed it, and provided Izic with a prosthetic. Izic refuses to speak about that day not because he lost his arm, but because he made an engineering mistake that bad.

Personality: Izic is a pretty good hearted guy. He’s on the team for his skills as an engineer, but also because he’s got the skills to get jobs done. Izic will go to great lengths to accomplish goals even if it makes it harder for him. He’s a bit obsessive about getting tasks done very well, so he occasionally gets work piled up.

He really hates people messing with delicate machinery since he’ll be the one who has to fix it. He also dislikes the lack of order in the EXOs. There is no leader, and the mission was very open ended. He wants to organize the team and the scientists to get the job done right.

Izic’s method of keeping sane is rather simple. He just keeps doing his job. It both stresses him and relieves his stress so that he is balanced. He’s lucky in that sense. So long as he can do something productive he’s alright. Waiting and wasting time makes him lose it.

“The difference between me and machine? I’ll take pleasure in my victory.” Izic

“Oh this? This is just a giant sword for my Exo suit. It’s nothing special there’s already another one in the other arm.” Izic

The real problem is not whether machines think but whether men do.
B. F. Skinner

EXO suit:

https://christofurr.files.wordpress.com/2012/04/robo-wolf-blog.jpg

Canustrike. A custom EXO that Izic built. He refused to let anyone else do the job. It’s visually simple EXO. It has the basics of an exo-suit in that it cover Izic completely in a good six inches of suit. It is designed to have excellent movement capabilities, so the armor is still very light. It has a black, dark grey, and dark green paint job like old military camo, but he just used the colors overall not camo. The suit is about nine and half feet tall since Izic prefers the additional size when he‘s doing big jobs. The head/helmet is modeled after a wolf’s head, and the optical ports seem to have a very menacing glare to them. The feet and hands are both clawed. Two hooked longs swords come out of the top of the forearms. Izic put theses in to highlight the agility of the suit, and make it a great melee unit. Even as an engineer Izic wanted a very strong combat EXO. He also put in two heavy fire shotguns which attach to his back. These spray after impact and cause more damage to the inside of the target. Izic’s main excuse for his weaponry is that he’s the only one capable of doing extensive repairs to the weapons for the marines and scout, so he likes to think that he could act as a backup soldier.

But there is a flipside to this EXO. Izic knew he’d have to still work in it so the claws on the hand retract, or can be used as misc. tools while working. The dexterity and precision of the EXO also lets Izic work as well in it as out of it. Most of his work is done outside of it though, so the suit mostly is there for heavy lifting, protection, and hunting.

Work skill: Engineer

Personal weapons: Black ace Shotgun: the ammunition is specially made to be able to pierce as well as a pointed slug. Dual laser pistols: not modified, but they still work great as a spot welder on the lowest setting.

Survival gear:
tool kit: contains a selection of standard tools including: hammer, screwdrivers flat and philips, wrench set, sockets, etc.

Pocket tools: Izic has three different pocket tools including a swiss army knife, a set of hex keys, and a cutlery set.

radio equipment: acts a as radio hub for the EXO communications. Its main components are a transmitter dish, a central computer with mic and speaker, and a number of small walkie-talkie style radios incase a suit’s radio goes out.

A pair of sturdy stainless steel canteens. He swears its water inside.

Replacement parts: Izic kept a crate of spare parts for the EXOs on the ship incase any repairs were needed. The parts are mostly gears, servo’s, springs, etc. smaller pieces that are most likely to break or wear down.

Neat. What time period is the RP set in- and sorry if some things in my CS aren't perfect.

Name: Doctor Oscar Sebastian Eden

Age: 29

Gender: Male

Appearance:
Oscar is roughly 6"0 in height, being fairly skinny and fairly lean for an individual such as him. Contrary to most perceptions of general geeks, he looks fairly attractive, with messy brown hair, blue eyes, and a slight stubble, that sometimes becomes a beard. Youth isn't on his side anymore- but he still looks smart, like he takes care of his appearance. He wears a blue cotton T-shirt, and a pair of outdoor trousers, olive in color. He can sometimes be seen wearing a pair of black sunglasses, attached to which is a Google Glasses-type interface, for direct involvement in his immediate surroundings, while a scar on his left arm from a previous cut sustained from an injury on Earth, in the Mojave following a slip, remains with him. He isn't a mercilessly strong or trained soldier, or a particularly stunning individual. In fact, he's a geek of the new era- and has some class, while maintaining, if not pushing the envelope of his academic study.

Background:
Oscar Eden was born to a teacher of a mother, and a Geologist father, in what is currently the United Kingdom. An academic background, one that cultivated his thirst for knowledge. He went to the University of Cambridge to study Earth Sciences, being one of the most capable and intelligent among his peers, a person that had an immense passion for the study of the world below his feet, and it's composition. But Oscar went beyond that- he wanted to see other worlds, beyond his own. Following his graduation, his Master's degree, and his PhD, giving him a title of a Doctorate, he moved on, enlisting in a Space Programe, that gave him the capability to go far beyond what he had done on Earth. A well respected individual, he was given an Exoskeleton, of which he customized for his own needs, though he was instructed to keep it armed in the case of it being requisitioned by local military forces- and sent to the Moon, followed by Mars, to conduct sampling, of these worlds. A drone may pick up dust and give a spectroscopy or an analysis. He often found himself, with a few others, at the bottom of age-old lava shafts and places where drones simply did not go, carrying out a full spectrum of chemical analysis and understanding the composition of these two worlds far better. His work was well-published in scientific journals, and he embarked on an expedition, to a new planet. Planet 4578's finding, and subsequent research, brought the light of a new dawn for humanity. And the scientists always have a fast-ticket to an adventure like this. Oscar headed to the Space Station orbiting the planet, Tyo, and lived there for several months, from it's near-early inception to it's full development, as another team prepared to send itself down. And Oscar wasn't going to miss a chance like this- every academic part of his body bringing him to find out what this new world entailed, and what it had. And of course, he wanted to step on a new planet because...well, that chance didn't come often, if you kept refusing it.

Personality: Calm and quiet, Oscar sticks to himself, though he sometimes can go in depth and become a little more flesh and bones. He sticks out of the worst of arguments, not preferring to take the lead, though he's clever enough to figure out things for himself, and either butt in and put across an idea he's contemplated, or at least why they can't do it a certain way. He tends to impart good advice, and seems to enjoy just simply living a life less ordinary, being adaptable and at least level-headed when things are even at their worst. It's not because he doesn't realize the gravity of a situation- it's rather, he is already thinking of a way to solve it. And while this facade cracks from occasion, Oscar on the whole will sometimes let himself go when needed, other times just staying on hand and out of confrontation. He doesn't mind alien life- of course, he is there to study it, but he is no biologist, or botanist. He's there to understand what it is that makes it work, and if it hurts humanity, he's going to defend.

"There's always something to find out. And we owe it to ourselves to find out what's going on."

EXO suit:

Vanguard

Roughly 7"5 in size, "Vanguard" is a personally constructed suit of armor for Oscar, serving as his Exo, and being a tool that sits roughly between the Engineer's Exo, and the more run-of the mill Exoskeletons. It places a focus on mobility without compromising armor, against environmental and human-based hazards. Mounting a 12.7mm jacketed HMG in the right arm, and a spare left hand that can take a personal weapon of his own or someone else's. It's been a little customized, yet remains fully functional. Lightly armed compared to a regular Marine's mech, it still sits as a machine that uses a two-layered composite system, mainly using a polymer inner and a titanium outer shell, which offers a fairly stable protection from both small arms and environmental hazards. It's Top-Heavy because the majority of the protection, as well as the operator's position, is seated higher in the armor. And this gives a better view, being more suitable for manning ground-emplaced equipment that non-suited individuals would lumber. The 12.7mm HMG is old-fashioned for a tech like this, but can punch through at least an inch of armor, no problem, being fed by a mechanism that is proven not to rust, and most of all, adapted so it can fire in a non-Earth atmosphere, such as different pressures or a lack of any, due to it's variable pressure system for cartridges. The armor doesn't have a direct vision to the operator, using a pair of cameras mounted between the blue light close to the top. This however, gives the widest, or closest to 180 degrees possible, whilst also being protected, and able to use thermal, Night-Vision and other spectrums (wiring to 3D oscillation imagery and UV). And those cameras are pretty hard to knock out, being also wired within the main bulkhead. It is well thought out, and while a little different, stands as an armor that provides both the mobility and protection required of an Exoskeleton of this type- being almost able to lift 500kg easily, typical of this class. It has a rudimentary "Jump" ability, allowing for small blasts of jumps, providing no equipment is being carried, from one position to another- perhaps going up by about 3m maximum, and 8m forwards maximum. It is no jetpack, but for getting over ledges, small bluffs and formations for observation, it's useful. Movement speed is roughly that of a human being, maybe around that of a very athletic one, even with all the weight.

Work Skill: Exceptional Earth Scientist (to you and me, Geologist meets Chemist meets Physicist). This is a person who wouldn't just tell you the rock you were standing on, but when it was formed, what makes it the hardness it is, and what makes it useful, and why that's a problem, or a great solution. And more. For a new world, an Earth Scientist such as Oscar is important, to gauge what a world like this is going to require to need. This includes the atmosphere- and his role as a Chemist, and Geologist, is to perhaps better understand what this new world is made of. He isn't a fighter, but understands his predicament, in and among much of the problems from the Old World. His specialism makes him an important member of the team, learning to understand what they're going to have to do in relation to the world they stand in. He understands how to assess Chemical processes, as well as Geological ones in the environment around them, sometimes trying to understand the wider world in general that perhaps an explorer, soldier or medic might miss out on. So this includes inorganic materials, such as rocks and the like- useful resources for use in assisting on the planet.

Personal weapons:
Lightly Armed due to his nature as a Geologist/Chemist- only has a semi-automatic pistol.

Survival gear:
-Spare O2 Suit-Attachable or Man-Portable Rebreather Equipment (For Hostile Sampling Environments)
-Survival Tent (Suitable for four operators)
-Three Days of Rations
-Tablet (Note Taking, etc.)
-Five Days of Water+Water Bottle
Black Nanofibre Rucksack (Large, Fits to the Suit, carries sampling equipment/other kit)
-Infrared Spectroscopy Equipment, Core Sample Drill mounted in suit +Other (Small) Sampling Kit

RP example:

Oscar breathed hard. looking out. His Exo was space-proof, after all, like the others were. They had to be to survive in a zero-gravity environment, the optical camera staring out from the top-half of Vanguard allowing him to view the world below, the peering view through the blue lights clear as ever. It was a time out he wanted, just a time to relax, think, rather than sit and write analysis on studies that had been relayed below. This data was shaky, but the planet was promising. They'd be going down soon themselves he reminded himself, and he'd never stepped on another world yet, not outside the Solar System. Mars and the Moon had been experiences, places where he had grown his academic portfolio, as a new scientist needed for a new era of space. A Golden Era. Now, he was going to be assigned with his team to find out more about this new world, far, far from their own. He'd been on Earth too long, and the process of getting from his homeworld, the only rock in existence that had supported human life for thousands of years, to here, was a big jump. A new beginning for humankind would come if this planet was suitable enough for habitation. Exhaling, he looked over at the suit analytics, an overlay in his suit's HUD. The camera faced out of the top-heavy part of the suit, between the blue light, to offer as best as it could a 180 degree field of vision. It wasn't perfect, but it would do. A thruster pack, as well as a sealed O2 supply sat on the suit's back compared to the regular rebreather that took in CO2 or other replacement gases that would be more suited for a planet's atmosphere. In zero-G, he couldn't feel it's weight, nor could the suit. He felt like he was light, weighed nothing. EVA was a process that he had been taught many a time before, but looking out on an alien world and an alien sun was surreal. Engaging the left booster, he looked over to the crew carrying out some light repairs on the end of the station, in itself a marvel of science and engineering. Oscar was a Chemist and Geologist first. An Earth Scientist. an incredibly smart individual, understanding how worlds like this one worked in it's processes and how to assess the rock with his own reinforced gauntlets in the suit. And that world below looked incredible. Unlike Earth, yet so similar. Deserts, a pair of Poles, sparser oceans and a few lakes, this world a little more devoid of water yet having an atmosphere, of sorts. He wanted to find out more than any drone could. He wanted to see it for himself, but for now, he could only peer through the few inches of metal that stopped his blood boiling and freezing, simultaneously. Space was cold, punishing, unrelenting. And perhaps this new world would be just so. But it would be a place to be, one day, for more humans. Not just men like Oscar. It'd be a place for a better, cleaner, and more sane future. Rather than the hassle and problems, a new start for culture, arts, science and individuals to flourish. But that was too far in the future. Changing his itinerary, he adjusted the thruster pack, heading for the airlock of the station, as the suit's AI kicked in and helped almost auto-guide him before he hit the side and did some damage to his suit and the station, better for the airlock. He had work to do, and they'd be going soon. He had to get himself packed, and whatever else was needed.

Name: Second Lieutenant Alison Marais
Nickname: Allie
Age: 27
Gender: F
Appearance: Alison stands five feet and seven inches tall with the lithe, muscular build one would expect of a career military woman. She keeps shoulder length dirty blonde hair in a short ponytail for practicality's sake. She is always found wearing her standard military uniform; a short sleeved white compression shirt with a black tactical vest over it sporting her rank insignia and the Marine Corps logo, a pair of heavy duty dark grey combat pants and black heavy duty jungle boots. This uniform is further complimented by a pair of fingerless tactical gloves and a holster on her left thigh.

Background:
Alison joined the military as soon as she was old enough. She grew up with a difficult home life, including a neglectful socialite mother and a deadbeat father, and longed to put as much distance as she could between her and her hometown in Kansas. She operated as part of the Marine Corps and engaged in a variety of missions from international joint training operations to counter-terrorist activities to military policing. This still didn't give her the distance she needed, however, and as soon as the recruitment began she was among the first military personnel to apply for the recently established military space program. Accepted for her service history, as well as her keen situational perception, she began training to head in to space. As soon as she had completed her training, she was dispatched to Tyo Station to serve as one of the members of the station security detail, where she has been for several years.

Personality:
Alison is a career military woman, dedicated to the protection of Earth, her people, and their interests. She detests the idea of alien life and could be considered at best xenophobic. She is considerably less straight-laced than her rank would suggest, known by those that served with or under her for her relaxed attitude. She is feisty, and relishes any opportunity to put her skills to good use. She's not beyond some outbursts, though, especially when she feels that certain people or action are not in the best interests of her mission or threaten the survival of the people she's working with.

"What do you mean 'Hold your fire'? I'm not gonna sit here and watch these people get killed!"

EXO suit: Dawn Caliber
Dawn Caliber is, without a doubt, an EXO suit built for combat, standing an enormous nine and a half feet tall. The armor is a three-layer composite material consisting of an impact resistant polymer mesh, a layer of lagging resistant (but by no means impervious) to heat and corrosion, all surrounded in a titanium shell. The servomotors are reinforced for heavy lifting but still fall short of those used in industrial EXOs, capable of lifting a clean half-ton. The armaments are almost all standard military issue, consisting of a reinforced 30-inch trench knife stored in a sheathe on the the rear of the unit's hips and a ten millimeter semi automatic sidearm stored in a compartment in the left thigh. The primary armament of the unit is a large solid-round railgun, stored on the right side of the unit's back. The shoulder compartments contain a pair of small dumb-fire rocket pods, each containing two low-yield explosive rockets, a flash rocket and a phosphorous based smoke rocket.

Work skill: Keen Commander
Alison has been in the military for a very long time, and has received training in many aspects of conventional combat. As well as this, she was trained in low-G and zero-G EXO suit combat as part of the military's astronaut training. She is as good a shot as her rank would imply, but is by no means an expert marksman or close combatant. She is not a prodigy, and does not possess any single exceptional skill; her ability is the result of hard training and experience. One thing she was noted for ever since her time at the academy, however, was her spatial awareness and situational perception. She can see a fleeting chance just before it comes and notice patterns and flaws in the behaviors of her potential enemies.

Personal Weapons:
She carries a standard steel combat knife, a medium caliber semi automatic pistol and a medium caliber submachinegun. Her SMG is fitted with a laser sight and flashlight, and has the number "276" etched into the side, presumably with her knife tip.

Survival Gear:
One three-day ration pack.
One water tank with around three days' water.
One weather-resistant tarpaulin (approximately ten by ten feet).
One coil of reinforced polymer rope (approximately thirty feet).
One high-yield demolition charge, military issue.

RP example: Alison rolled out of her bunk with a dissatisfied grunt, jolted awake by the savage howling of her alarm. She looked out of the reinforced window of her quarters and cursed into the empty blackness of space as she hastily threw on her uniform and put up her hair. Looking in the mirror, she noted that she looked like hell, and cursed again. It was the day of the big drop. People would probably want photographs or videos to show off to the ungrateful masses back on the snake-pit planet called Earth. She thought of that place, and cursed a final time. She had come out to the station to get way from that hideous place, but it seems the wretchedness has followed her even all the way out here. However, she decided it would be best to shake it off, and symbolically shook her head as if to complete some invisible transaction. She completed her morning ritual with a sharp salute into her mirror and turned to leave. It was time for morning patrol.

She briefed the security team in her usual sharp manner and dispersed them to their sectors. Tyo was a very valuable investment on humanity's part, and damned if she was going to have anything happen to it on her watch. She had been doing her route for so long it was clockwork. She left the briefing room last, made a hard left out of the door and headed along her path. As she passed the galley, she passed Miss Ellen, the station's cook and the only other person aboard who she could think of who'd been out here as long as she had. "Fair morning, Lieutenant Marais." she trilled in her upbeat, sing-song tone. "Though I dare say I tell you the same every morning you come by." Alison beamed widely at her, clapping a hand on her shoulder as they passed. "You can call me Allie, ma'am." She made a poor imitation of her accent. "Though I dare say I tell you the same every morning I come by." The pair chuckled and carried on their opposite ways down the hall. "Lunch at twelve twenty, Lieutenant." Ellen called after her. Alison waved a hand above her head. "I've never once missed taco Tuesday, Ellen, and I don't very well intend to start." She heard the cheerful gourmet laugh as she carried on her way.

She continued along her route checking all the cameras, sensors and security doors, marking each of them on her PDA as operating correctly. Her final stop was the armory, the only part she disliked. She swiped her ID and strode in to the small bay with her hands stuffed in her pockets. There was nobody at the desk, so she figured Master Sergeant Reynolds was somewhere in storage. She took one hand from her pocket and slammed it three times on the desk as hard as she could, shaking the metal cages surrounding it and sending a deep metallic booming noise into the bowels of the storage bay. After a few minutes, the Master Sergeant appeared, his apron covered in gun lubricant and still holding some calibration tools. He stared at her with his trademark simmering resentment, and she returned his gaze with a cold, disinterested expression. "Good morning, Reynolds." She practically spat the words at him. "Why, yes Lieutenant. It was." He replied with equal meter. "Now you're here, Lieutenant, and I find my cheer waning at such a pace that I fear I should certainly fall into a coma unless I were to help you as promptly as possible, to which end I would ask precisely why you have decided to interrupt my work." Alison blinked at him dispassionately. "Tuesday, Reynolds. Inventory report." He rolled his eyes and took out his PDA, flicking through a few options and then nodded. "It should be in your files. Can I help you with anything else, or are you going to bring great joy to my heart and tell me you'll simply leave?". She sighed wearily. "Have all necessary armaments loaded on to the Dawn Caliber by thirteen-hundred." He tensed visibly, but then relaxed. "Certainly, Lieutenant. Now as much as I enjoy our talks, I really must be getting back to the much more enjoyable task of-" She cut him off by punching the wall console for the door. It slid open noiselessly and she proceeded out without a word.

After the biggest round of Miss Ellen's tacos she had ever eaten, she proceeded to the security office. Grabbing a hold of the microphone for the station PA, she made her announcement. A tingle of mixed fear and excitement nearly stopped her from speaking, but she battled through it. "All EXO pilots and science teams, please report to docking bay seven. Again, all persons involved in today's surface mission to bay seven." The PA went silent and she shook her hands in front of her like she was drying nail polish. Here we go she thought to herself. She let down her hair and shook it out before putting it back up again, and realized suddenly that she was procrastinating. Steeling herself, she headed to docking bay seven to board her EXO and head out. If everything was ready, thy could probably launch early. Something felt wrong, though... But she couldn't tell what. She had undergone hundreds of non-combat and combat drops in training, and nothing was going to be different this time than it had been before. It was just another drop, she told herself. Everything would be fine.

Name: Doctor Marco Zeppeli

Nickname: Blanco

Age: 26

Gender: M

Appearance: Marco stands at an impressive 6'2" contrary to his rather diminutive stature in his youth. He sports a large bulky frame which is self evident in any attire he would choose to wear though it does not completely draw the eye away that he visibly round and wide around the hips with a slight gut pushing ever so slightly against the fabric of his clothing. He is not one to be considered fat as much as he is endomorphic but his transparently portly nature is recognizable, he may enjoy keeping in shape as much as he can but his schedule robs him of cardio. A well groomed goatee and moustache fall upon his upon his oval jawline failing to hide the dimples when he smiles, which is often. His curly mess of hair complements his deep brown eyes and deep olive complexion. He typically wears the common doctor garbs, white button up shirt with a red tie under the standard white coat along with matching black slacks and oddly enough sneakers as his preferred footwear.

Background: Draws origin from the Caribbean Islands, in particular Dominican Republic. Lived to the age of 10 with a relatively content if not under privileged childhood, most in his neighborhood did not have much and he was no exception so he took the simple inability to gain material desires to heart and never really pestered for much. Eventually his parents registered his incredible temperance in never pestering for things they could not provide as most children are known to do. The guilt of not being able to provide luxuries for their child led them to allow him to live with his Aunt and Uncle in Italy where he could obtain a better living, and for a while, he did. He'd picked up language skills and academic opportunities he'd only thought were for the more privileged kids.

His altruistic nature shone through as he showed an interest in medicine because of his desire to help others whenever possible. He'd found his ways to some of the most prestigious colleges in the country for his field showing remarkable aptitude so much so that despite his origin from a low income family he was able to obtain scholarships to breeze through most normally crippling charges. His expedient climb through his studies allowed the idea of joining the Space program to be come into play, this was not an opportunity he would not soon refuse. As one of more relatively new members to join the ranks he's still learning to find his way around along with being with what most would consider the most brilliant minds the Earth has to offer, the chance alone is almost too much for his humble existence.

Personality: Aluino is a compassionate man who pursued all he could in the what he knows for the purpose of bettering the lives of those he comes across. He prefers to keep rather subdued and let his acts of good will speak for him and his temperament, mainly because he is not that great of a conversationalist and will often times avoid having to go into extended talks with another. Despite this he finds himself most comfortable when talking to a patient. Attempt to strike up a normal conversation, he might seize up, come to him with a broken leg and he is a regular social butterfly.

EXO suit: Asclepius
Equipped with the greatest EXO Space program technology for the express purpose of custom fitting to Marco, Asclepius stands at a massively impressive nine feet tall to match it's owner's own physical proportions. The exterior is a thick titanium shell with strategic points allowing the plating to shift at delicate joints in order for the EXO to execute even the most gentlest of procedures with startling accuracy. A twice layered polymer mesh lies underneath the plating to offer a strong basis to the foundation of the colossal construct. The act of shifting the plates on the back of the knee's of the skeleton has the weakness of reduced protection and in turn larger susceptibility to damage or corrosive material but allows it to sprint at an impressive pace for an EXO of it's size, essential for quick arrival to a downed or wounded companion. The hands are afforded special attention as they are set with extremely powerful magnetic fields which can be switched at will in order to allow movement of an ally EXO should it be incapacitated the strength of Asclepius and the use of the magnetic bonding allows for firm holds for emergency transportation. Small 1x1 inch Plasma cutters are adorned at the wrist should an ally need to be freed from and EXO that is unsalvageble and they are unable to escape under their own power. Asclepius contains a fair sized compartment behind the cock pit capable of storing both him and second body should a patient require immediate medical attention procedures can be performed on the field. A porous design was in laid with the lining of the EXo allowing it to emit aromatic anesthetic at will or concentrated burst which can render those in range into a unconscious state. The inclusion of such features makes Aluino's EXO have little in the way of direct offensive capability

Work skill: Medic

Personal weapons: Sedative syringes. Pistol loaded with sedative ammunition. Scalpel. Semi-automatic pistol.

Survival gear:

-Medical kit: Everything from sutures to anesthetic to provide with medical activity at any given time.

-Log recorder

RP example:

How would he react? He certainly wouldn't appreciate his choice as it wasn't in his monetary gain but Marco would have to explain to him that this was the opportunity some of his field could only dream about. A nice pinch in the rear would be nice to confirm that he wasn't in fact dreaming, in fact no whoever had their proverbial bottom pinching fingers at the ready should hold them so that he could enjoy this dream for at least five more minutes. He'd been one for flights of fancy in his earlier youth but his line of work demanded he'd be as focused as a race horse, but even then, daydreaming was still as enjoyable as it was those years ago in 5th grade. It never got old.

Marco rounded the corner of pristine white hallways that glittered with glow as if it were fully aware and proud of it's own shine. No one procrastinated here and the janitors were no exception, he would have to make sure to bid them farewell before his leaving as well. They'd probably literally made the floors clean enough to eat off of and should Marco ever be so financially bad off to not afford a plate for food he knew he could always come back and eat right off this floor. Gurneys stacked parallel to each other thankfully with no occupants giving the silent hospital floor a serene hospitable vibe. Seeing the small note on the side of door he'd been headed to he hung his head. Here it was, time to face the music and announce his departure to the one who would be most upset about it.

The door swung open silently on well oiled hinges as Marco quietly made his way in hoping the person in question would be sleeping. One look at the smile on the young child's face showed him that hope was futile. The child's head turned to him almost in perfect conjunction to the door swinging open and his beaming smile came soon after he discovered it was Marco "Come to show me more Superman stuff?" He asked eagerly using his hands to support himself sitting up. "Haha, of course. Why else would I be here?" Marco replied hoping not to incite the bad news just yet. "You're always here when I need you, that's cause people like Superman always knew when bad stuff is happening."

Marco took a few slow steps to the child's bedside "What bad thing happened? Are you alright?" His typical worrisome self surfaced at the mention of a problem, he instinctively checked the vitals displayed on the monitor which hooked into the child who appeared to barely be six years of age. He hadn't heard any erratic spikes in his condition from the nurses, now Marco was truly curious as to what problem may have surfaced. "The TV is broken." The child pointed to the television set left ceiling corner of the room. The revelation of such a silly dilemma brought Marco to let out a hardy laugh as he reached for the controller too far for the boy to reach himself and turned it on. "Oh you fixed it!"

"Yeah, sure I did, haha."

The child was enthusiastic about the program now presented on the screen so much so that he'd ceased making eye contact with Marco. Good he thought, then the news of his departure would be easier to deliver. He paused for a moment, how he would choose to say this would be vital.

Oscar's going to be a fun character, I feel. Never really made a character like him- but he should work out as the geek of the team. He can hold his own when things go to pot, but he's no Marine, to say the least. Never really got a response to this- in terms of what the planet's like in regards to atmosphere and all, would it be breathable, just like Earth, or are there a few significant differences? Also, southern Temperate region- is that like an almost Italy-like region of this world, or actually just in the southern hemisphere of the planet, in a temperate zone? Forgive me for my inquisition here- just curious.

Just a note you guys don't need to worry about specifying your own amount of water and food as I'll have some left from the crash, and you'll divide that up.

so it seems we lost a marine because we're all too technical. I'm actually kinda happy that was the reason. I'm just gonna go through the edited character sheets now so...

EDIT: this is mostly just coming down to getting the others from the interest check to at least check in over here, or tell me they aren't coming. I'd prefer to have all the characters be filled, but if we have to I'll leave them as very generic NPCs so that someone could take them over later.

Neat. Any chance of an IC soon? I really want to get the teeth and bones into this RP, and see how they will interact, if you know what I mean.

actually how are you all with joint posts? I could see the first post being very interesting if we all were to act at once in the panic of it all. Everyone rushing around the shuttle trying to keep it together as it plummets into the atmosphere. I could start up a titan pad for that.

making a scout suit. ill re-edit this post with it when its done. i might post the suit first and then add the character just because it sometimes helps me to think of how a character operates before i can figure out who he is.

here be my character. if anything needs changing, let me know. also im fairly new to this site, so if im doing something wrong, im probably not doing it deliberately. Please tell me so i can improve.

Exo: Outrider Traverse, Light recon Platform: Experimental Unit 207(LRP 207e)
At a glance, the Traverse isn't the kind of thing you'd expect coming from a military branch. Standing a little over 2 meters (just shy of 7 feet) it has an odd profile being far gangly-er than most suits with skinny barely armored arms and legs. As a recon unit, the Outrider needs to be mobile in the field, trading heavier plate for agility and top speed. While its weaponry may seem heavy, this is because its designed for sniping and peek-a-boom (guerilla) tactics, appearing out of nowhere and dishing out one hell of a punch and then disappearing into the brush.
Armor:
The armor plating mounted is made out of a strong titanium derivative compound (a very durable material) that protects it from impacts, soaks some light weapon fire and grants limited protection vs the environment. Unfortunately the plating is too thin to soak the big hits and high penetration rounds that the heavier combat suits can shrug off. On the upside, the armor is light and flexible giving the pilot an excellent range of motion and uninhibited mobility. Once he becomes accustomed to suit, it should give him very natural, fluid movement. This is the inner armor and is covered by the Chameleon plate(Entry under experimental).
Weaponry
Because the Traverse Outrider is so compact, the engineers made a strange decision about how to go about arming it. They specifically designed the hands to add as little surface area to the hands as possible. This means that the Outrider can utilize human standardized weaponry. This means that the pilot can use his non mounted weapons with or without the exosuit, although it might mean he has to adjust his firing style (I.E. it is very difficult to fire a .50 cal rifle accurately while standing without the exo’s increased strength.)
Primary: 50 Caliber Sniper Rifle. This is a standard issue large caliber sniper rifle utilized by the military. Because it is unwieldy and has massive recoil, this gun should be fired from prone position unless the wielder is utilizing an Exo suit to augment his abilities. It can be fired from standing position at a cost to accuracy and fire rate. Powerful shots, excellent accuracy, moderate rate of fire, poor reload speed[fired from prone or from exo]. High recoil, is large and unwieldy.
Secondary: M17A2(future model of M16) assault rifle. This is a standard issue assault rifle. Good accuracy, fire rate, and reload speed. Recoil is very low. Outfitted with combat scope(top), Grip (under barrel), and full shoulder stock. It also has a flash suppressor mounted at the end of the barrel.
Mounted: (35mm cannon with stabilizers): the 35mm cannon fires composite rigid armor piercing shell designed help detachments deal with heavily armored units. The Traverse was to sneak to a position flanking an enemy encampment and keep firing on the armored unit, while the rest of the detachment dealt with the rest of the hostiles. Unfortunately, the recoil on the cannon makes it very hard to utilize accurately and without being blasted off ones feet. To rectify this, the Outrider Traverse has been outfitted with deployable stabilizers that allow it to dig into the ground, converting it into a semi-mobile(highly limited) firing platform. Combine this with the Traverses Camouflage and ability to move quickly, this exo becomes a terrifying guerilla fighter. The rate of fire leaves a lot to be desired unless the wielder has another soldier to help him reload. Accuracy is moderate, excellent firepower and armor penetration, poor reload. Also shells are large and cumbersome so limited ammo capacity.
Movement:
The chassis on the Outrider traverse is made of light sturdy material and designed to move as smoothly and freely as possible. The Traverse has an interesting dual energy core design. On one hand the suit needed blazing fast speed and good all-around strength to adjust to difficult terrain, but that kind of power generation also gives off a lot of heat and sound making it easily detectable. To compensate, the designers included a much smaller power core that gives enough power to allow the Traverse to move at a decent pace and power some of its gear without overloading its stealth equipment. This power core was a dependable, well designed model from earlier suit prototype. Because of its lower power output, its heat and sound production are low enough to run with the Chameleon heat vents closed allowing the traverse to move stealthily for longer periods of time than it otherwise might. If the vents are left open, the Traverse can operate for long periods of time without having to cool off. The downside to this engine is that it can’t generate enough power to give the Outrider the speed and mobility it requires to get by in a firefight. It is the recommended core for most operation and when outfitted for sniping purposes.
The second core that was included on the Outrider Traverse was a experimental fusion core. This power core has extremely high power. While it isn’t very stealthy, this core allows the pilot to make full use of the Travers’s incredible speed and mobility. While it isn’t the strongest of suits, it still gives a standard test load of 250-300 pounds over head when functioning at full burn. All good things come at a cost however, and the Traverse pays for utilizing the fusion core. As much power as the core generates, it generates even more heat. The fusion core can generally only run for an hour or 2 before needing to cool off. If it is pushed too far past its limits without a break, the core will overload in spectacular (often fatal) fashion. A good pilot will alternate use of the engines depending on the situation. The fusion core powers up quickly, and the pilot can keep the second core running simultaneously to easily switch back if he doesn’t mind leeching off his heat reserves.
Experimental tech
The pilot(needs name) hung around the R&D labs a little too much ("hey the engineer guys are a good crowd!") and while he was there they would sometimes show him some of their pet projects. One thing led to another and his suit wound up becoming a field testing platform for all kinds of new science-y things.
Chameleon Scale Mail: this outer plating level is made up of small hexagonal "Scales" that interface with the suit and the environment. Each hexagonal plate(1 foot diameter) has 2 sides. The inner layer is a complex heat dispersion system for the suit, while the outer paneling is a reactive polymer that when interfaced with the suits systems functions as active camouflage. While there is no such thing as perfect camouflage, the Chameleon plating comes pretty damn close the heat dispersion means it’s tricky to spot even with thermal vision. Combine this with the Traverse’s whisper soft operation on its primary reactor core, It becomes a very hard scout to detect. However, as stated before this plating is far from perfect, when the suit is moving at its faster speeds, the Plate can't process the background fast enough to work and it has to default to a standard camo pattern(think military uniforms today, better than nothing but still visible). Also when the Traverse is running full burn,(more on full burn below) the heat sinks cannot keep pace with the thermal output fast enough. After a couple minutes of operation at these levels, the sinks over heat and the pilot has 3 options, either use the heat vents (allowing the suit to keep functioning, but also giving any thermo vision very clear trails of heat to follow), switch to the backup reactor, or slowly watch as his suit systems overheat and the suit shuts down avoid a system overload. It should be noted that the chameleon plating does not provide much in the way of defense. It’s tough enough to keep from being damaged on accident, but any gun should easily rupture through. While damaged plates are fairly easy to swap out, replacing them takes a minute or two and it can’t be done from inside the suit.

Name: Pilot Officer Zack Caldrin

Nickname:

Age: (21)

Gender: (M)

Appearance: Zack is not tall. He stands about 5’5” and a well-toned build. He survived boot camp so he is in excellent physical condition. He has short backswept brown hair that’s a little longer than military regulations and his left ear is pierced with a simple silver earing. He has a boyish face that is angular and almost hawk-like. You can see the northwestern European influence in his looks. He has surprisingly few scars for a soldier and if it wasn’t for his uniform, you might mistake him for an athlete instead. The scars on the outside of his fists are remnants from a young cadet who made the mistake of saying that to his face.
When he’s not in the military’s combat uniform, he’ll usually wear black fatigues with a dark tee-shirt and an unmarked blue hoodie. Occasionally he will wear his standard uniform, but generally not unless there’s a reason to look a little more up to snuff. Both of his uniforms show his rank (leaft breast on standard, right shoulder on combat) but also include emblems from the scientific R&D Division. Awards on the standard uniform indicate that he has been on at least a couple military deployments. When going into the field, Caldrin always wears a Bulletproof vest under his fatigues.
Background: Caldrin was raised on the Northeast Coast of the USA with a posh family and an overbearing father. The snooty town was a poor fit for an aggressive kid who didn’t play well with the others. Caldrin always had trouble in school. His grades in history and English were consistently the worst of the class, a he got into many fights. He rarely lost. His classmates swiftly learned not to look down on him, which became trickier once their heights started to differentiate. Zack was all over anything he could find a real world application for. English just didn’t fit into that category and therefore was dismissed. However, Zack’s problem solving skills were quite good. Generally he preferred simple approaches (i.e. fist in face gets people to shut up), but proved to be adept at classes like physics and math. Trying to get away from his family, Zack enlisted in the military as soon as possible. Though he wasn’t as tall as the other cadets, he trained ceaselessly and worked harder than anyone. Early on, he was constantly soloed out by drill sergeants and cadets alike. The Cadets soon learned better thanks to Zacks exceptional fighting skills, and the Sergeants had trouble insulting him when his combat skills eventually even surpassed their own. Unfortunately, while a prodigy in basic combat, Zack’s tactical skills left much to be desired and he was a terrible leader. His aggressive and impulsive nature quickly proved that he shouldn’t be in charge of a squad. Fortunately, Caldrin had no problem following orders and as long as he knew who was in charge, he was an exemplary soldier. But for all his accomplishments, his father still was unmoved. His son couldn’t even qualify to be an officer. The world would always have another soldier.
Towards the end of basic training, the soldiers started to be trained in various vehicular combat. This included training of basic military vehicles like tanks and jeeps, but also included a small simulation on exosuit combat(while still in development, it was a very real possibility that these could be implemented int eh armed forces in the futere). Caldrin took to the sims like fish to water and it was evident that he was a natural. Once he had become accustomed to the suits, no one in his platoon could match him. When he completed basic training, his was assigned as Pilot officer(generally an airforce position) in a squad in the R&D branch. This squad was designed to test new experimental gear that had been cleared by R&D on the field of combat. They needed exceptionally skilled soldiers who could adjust to malfunctioning or buggy equipment. While they were given standard issue gear, it takes time to switch out from a faulty weapon, and seconds can cost lives in the field. Caldrin’s specific Job was to field test a new line of exosuits that they were working on. He would remain part of this squad and would fight as a scout/sniper for 3 years, gaining several awards for his service. He had several missions including one deployment in space. He made friends with the Scientists in the R&D and was always willing to try out new things. He learned from them and became an expert at fixing malfunctions and jerry rigging gear with whatever he had on hand. One day, one of the scientists told him about a venture going out to a planet that needed soldiers to protect a team of scientists on some space base somewhere. Now this, this was something that not just anybody could do. This was a position where Caldrin’s dad would have to be impressed. Finally, a chance to prove his worth. Caldrin hardly even read the job description before putting in his name. His Scientist friends provided him with valuable recommendations and his outstanding record did he rest. A few months of last minute training and prep and Zack was on his way to Planet 4578.
Personality: Zack is a hot-headed confident soldier. While he tries not to brag, he has extreme confidence in his abilities. This does not mean he will pick a completely mismatched fight, But if he thinks he has a chance at victory, he will attack heedlessly until it rests within his clutches. As a military man, Zack will generally listen to instructions from superior officers. If you do not have rank on him, you will be hard pressed to control him unless you’ve earned his respect. Caldrin also has a large measure of pride and hates backing down. Generally, though if fighting breaks out, he will always default to a superior officer. Caldrin is an ace exo pilot, but tends to function best when following orders.

Work skill: Military Training, fast learner, technically skilled in on field maintenance (though he has no formal training), master of the jerry-rig, ace pilot.

Personal weapons: 1 standard issue combat knife, 1 Standard issue handgun.
Survival gear: (try to work off of what others brought so that everyone is equipped. Five items. Ex. Tent, flares, canteen, hatchet, tool kit)
Water filter
Kinetic charge high capacity flood lamp(charges with walking motion)
Extra ammo and Extra chameleon Plating
Multi-tool
Lighter
Duct tape(or future equivalent)

theme song: hammer head, offspring.
