It'd been three years since the end of the East-West Wars, brought on by the West's frustration with a lack of representation in the political games of Lifan. Victory was almost assured for the East, boasting not only the center of magical learning, but a populace far outstripping that of the West. The war was brief, in the eyes of the few Immortals, spanning only two years and ending in the three month Siege of Ward. While Ward continues to boast no enemy force has breached its walls, it is no longer done so with the gusto of old - Ward knew that once it fell, the rest of the West would fall and with time being their enemy, the West had no choice but to capitulate to the East's demands.

Strangely enough, the peace reached was largely palatable for both sides. The West gained increased representation in the centeral government. For the east, they gained trade treaties largely benefiting their causes, allowing the East to import and export an increased amount of goods. It also gave Lifan authority over the Arenas of the West, something formerly run by the cities themselves.

It was in this world the young were released, both sides making an effort to return to the traditions of old. Most trainers had put off their travels until the end of the War, some, braver than others, made efforts to complete the Eastern edge of their Rites.

First Edict
Captured Natrelmon shall not attack trainers unless they have waived their rights to these protections. Invocation of these protections requires both trainers have Natrelmon outside of the confinement of their relics.

Trainers that ride their Natrelmon in combat are considered to have waived the rights to their relic protections

Violations of the First Edict depend on the inadvertant or intentional nature of the attempted violation. Intentional violations of the most honorless type will pull the guilty into my judgment. Attacks that violate this either through scope, or violated through accident, will result in protections of the most absolute nature surrounding the trainer.

Second Edict
The binding powers of the relics shall persist until the death of the trainer of willing revokation of their power.

Third Edict
Magic shall operate under my governance.

Fourth Edict
Projectiles will move within the confines of my judgment, but I shall not diminish their power.
+ A Brief History +

Thousands of years ago, before Natrelmon even existed, the world was engulfed in a massive war - a war over death itself. Fourteen legendary warriors fought to preserve the essence of the world and destroy those seeking to take control over the Black Gate. The Black Gate was a powerful portal allowing control over death itself, allowing those once dead to return to the world of the living. In a gambit, the legendary warriors managed to shatter the gate, after sending through one of their own to ensure that nothing would seek to upset the balance from the other side.

At some point the living creatures that inhabited this world began to gain special powers, creating the first Natrelmon. Humankind, which always had access to magic, now had an equal in the world, creating a relationship between humans and Natrelmon.

Society has continued to press forward and despite conflicts, had created a modern and highly connected society with high speed rails, thorough communication systems, and social order.

+ Getting Started +

Natrelmon can be a bit daunting to get into, as it has been running off and on for 8 years now, but a lot of the information won't become important to you until later on.

To get started with a Natrelmon bio, check the Starting Natrelmon page (see bio format for link). You are allowed to select TWO Natrelmon from this page to start out at as your companions. This is a great place to get inspiration for a character that would suit the Natrelmon you've chosen. Be sure to look through the move lists for the elements of the Natrelmon you've selected to get a feel for how they might be used.

Next, it'll be important to get your trainer off to a good start. You will need to select TWO Spell Schools and TWO Professions. Spells are used as an augment to your Natrelmon in combat, allowing you, the trainer, to influence the fight outside of issuing commands to your Natrelmon. Professions will provide you with augments to your rolls, which are used to decide all random effects in Natrelmon. If you select the Tracking profession you will receive benefits to your Wild Natrelmon rolls, likewise, for Breeding, you will receive benefits to your Breeding rolls.

We do not have strict requirements on bio length, but we do expect the presence/illusion of effort. Short and sweet is perfectly acceptable.
+ Dice Notes +

Natrelmon is very heavily determined by dice on our database forum. When starting off a new character you will also make FIVE rolls for a chance at a gift, which can have a significant impact on your character.

Each week you will have the opportunity to roll for TWO wild Natrelmon. Additionally, you will be able to make one 'Library' roll. The Library is a special roll that allows you the chance to acquire special items and knowledge, some of which are one of a kind. It is important that you make these rolls weekly as we generally will not allow you to make up rolls. Rolls are a benefit of staying active.

It is important to note that for Wild Natrelmon rolls we ask that you type up at least a paragraph about your search for a wild Natrelmon. This is not a requirement, but should you encounter a wild Natrelmon you don't want, you will be able to reroll your search providing you provide us with two paragraphs. This can continue ad infinitum providing you double the paragraph requirement each time.

Because Library rolls are so powerful, you are only given one a week with no chance to reroll.

This is NOT required for your rolls. I would just love you forever if you use it because it makes everyone's lives easier.

Is this thread open to more bios?
Yes, Natrelmon is always open to new trainers! Even if the thread has gone on for awhile and people have moved past the first few cities, you are free to jump in. The Admin team will ensure that you either start caught up to the other trainers or you have the means to do so. We won't leave you behind.

Can I make my own Natrelmon?
Sort of. Natrelmon has a system to allow for the cross breeding of two Natrelmon. This will allow you to create a fair number of custom creations, especially if you have the Breeder profession. In general we do not really add player created Natrelmon outside special circumstances.

Someone is trying to kill my character! Is that allowed?
Yes. Killing other players is allowed. If you are worried your trainer isn't powerful enough, I'd suggest travelling in a group and staying away from dark areas. In general, you shouldn't have to worry too much about being killed - but bear in mind that it is possible.

I noticed it is modern times, can I have a gun?
No, guns are highly regulated by the society and only members of the police force have guns. You can, however, use other weapons such as knives and similar weapons, but they will cost you money in order to have them.

Can I have more than one character?
No, at this time we are only allowing one character. Certain exceptions may be allowed to this if there is a compelling reason you need to use two characters. Simply wanting more rolls is not a compelling reason.

Why can't I make up my own spells? X spell sucks.
For balance reasons, we do not allow trainers to make their own spells. Lore wise, there is an entity that governs the rules of magic and only a special few NPCs are capable of breaking those rules. Player characters will not ever be allowed to create their own spells. However, you can gain access to special and secret spell schools that can give you a fighting edge.

Yes. If you have gained some secret information or ritual spell, you are free to tell other players. We have no restrictions on this.

What do new characters start with?
Currently, new Characters Receive the following:
- 25,000 N to start
- 2 Starting Natrelmon

- Insta-level 15 for on Natrelmon, level 10 for the other
- 3 Bonus Wild Rolls with one guaranteed U+

Shio stands about 5'8" with long brown hair often tied back in a singular ponytail. She has bright blue eyes, a distinct difference between her and her twin brother who runs the Echo Arena. She is clearly in good shape, but not overly muscular. Her only consistent piece of clothing is an ornate earing solely worn on her right ear. Small chains attach to multiple parts of her ear from the lobe with clasps all the way up to the top. Silver cut in pointed designs dangle from smaller chains descending from the clasp points.

Hometown: Echo
Personality: Shio's personality is difficult to define. While she is a good person, she can occasionally appear standoffish in normal conversation. She often avoids talking to new people, preferring the comfort of old friends rather than the risk of meeting new people. However, her struggle with interacting with new people is masked with extremely rigid training as an Exorcist. Part of Shio's additional difficulty with people is her extremely large theoretical knowledge base, knowing more about a wider variety of subjects than most people, and having non-practical training in many arts that make her an 'in-theory' Master. She much prefers learning through reading, rather than practical experimentation.

Shio secretly wishes to experience many of the childhood things she missed out on.

Relic Description: Shio's relic are a set of silver bracelets worn on her right wrist. They are very plain at a quick glance, but are actually inscribed with Gishiki symbols.

History: Shio was born in Echo just before her family moved to the northern-western city of Armkfish. Despite mastery over Gishiki, Shio's parents were unable to maintain control over their Arena in Echo - the catalyst for their move to Armkfish, ousted by a family of Ghost Natrelmon trainers. Because of their conflict with the other Dama family, Shio's childhood was extremely abnormal. While most children would play games in the streets, Shio was in her house reading, or in the yard training so she could be a weapon of sorts against the Damas.

Even as a child, Shio participated in the East-West wars as a spy for the East, as well as a healer. Her father had stated it was a part of their duty and a step towards reclaiming their rightful place in Echo. Shio was not one to question him on the matter.When she turned sixteen, they returned to Echo in secret, eventually developing a plan to take out the Dama family and regain control over their Arena. Utilizing her brother and her as bait, they were able to exorcise many of the Dama family's most powerful Ghost Natrelmon, leaving them unable to combat Shio's family. Shio herself placed the Nine-Spirit Seal on the Dama family head.

After a duel between them, Shio's brother was selected as the leader of the Echo Arena instead, leaving him to inherit her family's legacy Natrelmon. Shio saw this as a blessing, allowing her to freely explore the world on her own and experience many of the things she missed growing up. Free from her obligations, Shio has out on her own with Natrelmon of her choice - a Kohitsuji and a Sparwire. She often describes it as her first true decision on her own.

Professions: Herbalism, Scholar
Noteworthy Skills: Shio has a deep understanding of many medical techniques without utilizing her magic, as well as a wide range of knowledge on plants. Her training as an Exorcist has also given her a noted ability to handle herself in close range combat. She also is a capable endurance runner.

Personality: Ty is a nice man but he's oustandingly lazy. He will set himself to a specific job only to get it finished a day later. He is amazingly calm, even when he is getting yelled at for not doing his job by a certain time. Ty has a morbid sense of humor. He often can be heard joking about the deaths on tombstones. Despite his morbid sense of humor and lazyness, he seems to attract people to him as if he were a magnet.

Relic Description:Ty's relic takes the form of a a ring on his right index finger. The ring has a green, pillow cut emerald set into it. The silver of the ring is crafted to look as if it were a vine.

History: Ty was born in a nice family that lived in Sakura. His father was doctor for the people of Sakura and Ty was taught simple medical care so he could provide medical to people in the case that his father wasn't around. Ty didn't always like having to work with his father and instead went to apprentice to a natrelmon breeder in Sakura. He learned quite a bit about breeding natrelmon with a little bit of taming on the side. Eventually, Ty decided to set out on an adventure to tame and breed all sorts of natrelmon so he can become the worlds best breeder.

Age: 19
Gender: Male
Appearance: Not many people take notice of Bishop, because despite his height he moves with a casual and deadly grace which allows him to pass unnoticed through crowds, adjusting his movements so he never collides with or brushes against others. Although he stands at 6’5” Bishop carries himself with the light step of an acrobat, and weighs around 235 lbs always moving smoothly, never in shock. Anyone who has engaged him in close combat will find Bishop to be deceptively muscular a strength belied by his fairly slender form.

Bishop’s eyes are the color of rough sapphires, a dull blue-gray with unknowable depths, always carrying the hint of a smile as if laughing to a joke he’d heard many times before. His skin tanned but neither light enough, nor dark enough to draw much attention. His hair, usually cut short is the color of midwinter darkness, black with a faint silver luster upon close inspection. As a whole though someone may remember his eyes his face is, like the rest of his appearance, more or less unremarkable.

Although not a noble, Bishop has made a fair amount of wealth for himself, and this is reflected in his manner of attire, he prefers to wear nothing garish, subtle black, and grays however the cloth itself is always fine and expensive, the cuts tailored. On his finger he wears a simple band, most likely silver at first glance it appears to have been burned but upon closer inspection it’s an incredibly complex series of inlays patterning the ring. Over time this pattern seems to shift growing more complex, yet it does not appear to have a meaning or pattern, it’s too abstract to be a language, to many repetitions to be purely chance.

History: Very few people know much about Bishop’s past, outside of the most recent events. Although he is a known underworld figure, he does not seek to attract attention to himself, preferring to quietly assassinate, without the garish kills of high profile targets which would draw attention from both authorities, and the underworld. Instead, Bishop is simply a name known to a few, as a man very adept at killing he has no official political or moral allegiances.

Publicly Bishop is a well-respected business man who specializes in the import and export of rare books, as a result he has been able to acquire knowledge which many people do not possess. He obtained the nickname Bishop in an assassination there was said to be a prophet protected by a divine power which rendered him immune to all harm, a little known assassin accepted the contract to kill this prophet, and succeeded, it’s said Bishop made a deal with that archaic god and turned the prophet’s own power against him

Appearance: Kito has short blonde hair, wears black sunglasses to hide his unusual dual eye colors, and generally wears a black and purple cloak over his usual clothing. This consists of a black shirt or sweater and a pair of black insulated pants. He also has a birthmark on the back of his left hand in the shape of an eye.

Hometown: Sakura

Personality: Kito is typically cautious of other people, having learned early on in his life that people can be unpredictable at any given moment, especially when they become desperate. However, once he's convinced someone new won't do him harm, he's usually pretty outgoing and friendly. He's loyal, and very protective of both his friends and his Natrelmon.

Relic Description: His relic is a golden ring with a deep purple stone set into it, worn on his right index finger.

History: Kito was orphaned at the age of fifteen, when his parents left in search of new Natrelmon for their breeding farm. Unfortunately, several months after their departure, news reached Sakura that Kito's parents' bodies were found. Their gear and valuables were nowhere to be found, and the incident was ruled as a robbing turned murder, and eventually the investigation stopped dead due to lack of leads. Kito managed to run the farm for a number of years, learning what he could from his father's journals, with a bit of help from the farm's guard Natrelmon, Olena. Eventually things started to go downhill for him, starting with numerous failed breeding attempts and eggs that never hatched. To make matters worse, one night during a storm, most of the farm's prized Natrelmon escaped back into the wild. When people learned of this, business fell off completely, and Kito was left with no other choice but to sell the farm. During the entire year this all transpired, he had been helped by a young woman named Amelia, whom became his friend.

Using the money he got from the farm, he bought a small house in the rural area of Sakura, where it was only him and Olena for quite awhile. Of course, Amelia came by often to see him, and he was glad for that. However, the day came when she was summoned back home, to Ward. He thought he would never see her again, since the war was over, and there was no danger in Ward anymore. Eventually, Kito gained a fascination with tracking, discovering he was quite good at it. After learning how to track properly, he set out into the outskirts of Sakura to test his skills. It was no surprise that he was able to track down a Sakura Natrelmon, given the fact the cherry blossom trees were part of their natural habitat. After an intense battle, Kito caught the Sakura. It wasn't until later on that he realized how great it felt to battle with Olena by his side, and paired with his tracking skills, he was sure he could become a great breeder in his own right. Of course, he knew he'd have to travel to many places in order to become a great breeder, along with capturing all kinds of Natrelmon to find the best sort of breeds for breeding. It was settled, he was going to set out and be a trainer.

Appearance: Ouros is as life has made him, hard. His jaw is firm and well-formed, his nose sharp, lips that frown naturally. His brow seems hewn from granite itself, so sharply dos it angle down to his eyes, eyes that are as pools of obsidian, so dark as to be black. He is a fairly tall man, standing at a respectable 6’2”, though his build is lean and slight; the sort of muscle one gets from fighting to survive, not from a gym. His hair is long and light brown, gathered in a ragged ponytail. Clothes vary wildly based on availability, the poor do not have the luxury of an expansive wardrobe. He’ll invariably gravitate towards utilitarian smocks, however, as his life never taught him to appreciate luxury. The exception, however, is his footwear as he will go to great lengths to ensure that he always has a pair of comfortable boots. Never know when you might need them.

Hometown: Lifan

Personality: To-the-point, often to the point of being rude; Ouros was never raised with social nicety in mind (or raised whatsoever, for that matter). He’s distrusting and not ashamed to say it, he’ll never lie about how he feels about others. He’s honest, except when he’s cheating you, and would (and probably has) do anything to survive. He can come off as impulsive, but it’s a result of him having had to learn to think fast or risk pain, or worse. He’s actually calm to the point of being unnerving, and if he is legitimately panicking, you should have fled long ago. He is absolutely unrelenting to his enemies, and would never bat an eyelash to hurt or kill anyone who has made themselves so, rightly or wrongly. His entire mindset has grown up around survival, and without outside influence to teach him about the more “nice” parts of human life, those feelings are utterly absent, or warped. He knows lust, but not love. He understands debt, but not loyalty. He knows to relent, but not to show mercy. He can forgive, but would never show grace.

Relic Description: A bracelet, granted to him by his mother prior to her untimely death. It has grown as he has; a fact he’s noticed but never wondered about. He has absolutely no idea it’s a relic, and only serves as a keepsake to him.

History: Fate is a fickle mistress, blessing those who should be cursed and cursing those that had never wronged her. Such is the case for Ouros, who was orphaned before he even really knew who his parents were. Once he lived happily in Lifan, with parents that loved and adored him, even to the point of making questionable life decisions in order to support him. They had always been poor, and when he grew ill as a baby, they soon found themselves indebted to the wrong sort of people just to pay for his life.

Sometimes, in the dim nights of Lifan’s undercity, Ouros wonders at whether his parents would have been willing to pay that debt had they known the cost was their lives. Before he even understood the situation, Ouros had been snatched from his parent’s grasp as they were dragged away, left only with the bracelet his mother had frantically left him moments before. While he’d never seen the bodies, the bosses had been quite explicit as to their fate. From that day on, Ouros was a scion of the underworld, never again to know the succor of hearth or home. He has stolen, he has cheated, and he has killed, all in the name of continued survival.

Survival and revenge. For while Ouros holds no affection for the parents he never knew, he also allows no man to cross him, no man to take what is his. The crime bosses took his family, his childhood. One day, he swears, he will repay their children in kind.

Professions: Mage, Scholar

Noteworthy Skills: Survival skills, in both urban and rural environments. Acrobatics; Ouros has lived his life among the steel trusses of the big city he’s comfortable climbing and jumping in conditions that would make most men fear for their lives. Basically, it’s safe to assume that if there is a skill that would be required for surviving in any sort of harsh conditions, or required for escaping/combatting others, Ouros has at least an idea of how it’s done.
