The planet Al-habash was a massive trade hub located in the Deianara system, which in turn was essentially in the middle of nowhere. The system was one of the largest in the sector, home to three inhabited planets and millions of people, but the nearest neighboring system was two weeks travel away with most ships. Merchants, smugglers, traders, and corporations all brought their wares to the planet to be sold. Mercenaries and spacers looking for work frequented the many bars and spaceports of the planet, and millions of credits changed hands each day in the planet’s capital. Essentially any service imaginable, legal or illegal, was available on some way on Al-habash.
The Nightingale had been trapped in the city’s spaceport since the ship had arrived several hours earlier. It was undergoing heavy repairs, refueling, and restocking after its last “expedition”. The crew had been asked to give the repair crew their compad information and would be contacted when the repairs were completed and they could return to their ship.
After paying for the repairs and supplies, the crew was essentially broke. What was left of the credits from their last job were now gone, leaving them with only pocket change. However, it wasn’t difficult for spacers to find work here. In fact, work tended to find the spacers, and this was true for the crew of the Nightingale.
“E” and Senth had already received several messages on their respective devices from people in need of a ship and a crew. The first message was from someone needing a shipment of medical supplies transported to the neighboring planet Meda. The second message was from a “Dr. Zaitsev” requesting transport offworld, and the third was from a representative of the “Spiker Cooperative” looking for a ship to investigate the loss of a Spiker ship in Orteguilla system.
