Before I explain the story I have so far, I'll explain the scifi aspect of this. This RP would be futuristic and mostly powered by technology rather than magic. However, if you're opposed to this idea, there could be a race (which you could create if you don't like the ones I'll make later) that could sort of use magic. But I'll get into that later. The point is that this RP could appeal to both futuristic and fantasy users rather than staying completely on the fence.
It's not easy to get on the universe's most wanted list. People start to wonder if you're just a legend. But the only thing that's harder than getting on this list is surviving what comes next. The universe has a messed up way of dealing with things. It isn't organized. It doesn't send police or government officials after you. It sends people almost as screwed up as you are. Mercenaries from all around the universe come after one person to take their head for a reward. It's funny what money can do to people. Now imagine that all of these men that are always on the run and have to fight for every day ended up on the same planet. Just that would raise enough hell, but you still have to add in the squads of mercs that will come down on them. For them it would be a dream come true. What it is for any sane man is a nightmare.
-We'll be playing as either a mercenary or one of the wanted men. The wanted men are completely on their own. If they're luck and are really in trouble, then one of the other convicts might help them out, but in general they have no one else to rely on. The mercenaries have their team who will have their back when they need it. That is if they didn't piss the wrong person off that day. The way the merc squads would work is that whoever the leader of the squad is can organize it however they would like. So this leader could have designated jobs for people or they could just run headfirst into battle, but that's up to the leader. The only thing that isn't up to the leader is keeping it at about 5 to 6 characters per squad.
-The setting is something to be worked on. A lot of how this plays out could depend on the planet and what kind of planet and so on. I can work up a starting point later, but we don't have to stay on the same planet the whole time. If later on in the RP the majority of people would like to move, then that could work. So the setting is flexible to whatever you guys would like. As for the year and time period, it will be around the 2200's. No one really knows or cares about dates anymore unless you're of the richest alive. I'll work out the history of all this later, but I'll make it interesting. Pretty much everything is powered by technology rather than magic unless you're a certain race or specified squad that could change that. For example if your squad only accepted people of a certain race that had unique powers similar to magic, then that's the closest it would get. However it wouldn't exactly be magic. It's more of a special ability that comes with the race or something along those lines. Just know that if you don't want to use technology and would prefer a more fantasy based experience, then that's doable for you.
-Now to the race card. I'll be making some of my own for the OOC and you could pick one from there. Or, if you don't like any of those options, you could make your own and run it by me. If it works out then that will become another playable race. There will be plenty to choose from and I'm sure your creative minds will add to the choices. So this aspect should be interesting. I am also interested to see how this plays into the squads and to see how many are diverse and how many take only one race. If you do make your own race and it is accepted, then be prepared to make a small history of its people and how they think/work/survive. Not too intricate, but just to give an idea of the people.
-These wanted men are on their own and have to be pretty badass to have survived this long and gained this much of a record. So make them this way and give them a slight edge. I'm not saying make them overpowered or the mercs underpowered, but make sure that they got to where they are for a reason. Maybe they're stronger than most others. Or faster or smarter or whatever it is really. Up to the creator.
-I would also like to bring up one last topic. Guns. I don't mind people having guns but I would prefer to keep them at a lower level. Because having a bunch of machine guns and what not takes away from the RP IMO. Now I know some people just love their guns in RPs. So if you insist on carrying heavy weapons, know this. Ammo nowadays is pretty rare. Each shot you take is like throwing a weeks worth of food in the trash, so make it count. I will, however, allow higher caliber guns if they aren't regular bullets. Maybe if a sniper had tranquilizers or darts or a tracking bullet, or whatever you come up with, then that's fine by me. I would just prefer to keep a simple shot across the planet to the chest to take out the wanted man out of the question. It might seem ridiculous to you, but that's just my preference. So in summary, regular bullets are rare, low caliber guns UNLESS the bullets are mostly non-lethal.
