Yes it's allowed, but don't saturate the game with them, please.

Fanon is allowed? Cool. Then I can use the DBZ Namekian that I've been wanting to finish/throw into action?

DBZ is a point of SERIOUS contention among character creators, forums, so on and so forth. Especially with how powerful the characters are, what with the second big bad being a planet buster class. The Namekians, Saiyans, and Changeling's abilities to change forms ever so frequently. Allowing them into this scenario would lead to so many arguments about power level that it would be comically unwise.

But again, I plead for people to not saturate this roleplay with Fan Characters.

Personally, I don't think it would be a problem if all the abilities were clearly defined and not deviated from (provided it fits within the acceptable tier limits, which I'd imagine would require significant nerfing). Any argument based on their capabilities in the show or manga, however, would be utterly useless here.

As I've always seen it, Namekians aren't as readily capable of heightening in power as Saiyans and Changelings. The requirements for them to make any drastic gains in power are either through gratuitous training efforts through fusion with other Namekians, which I would resolve not to have at my personal disposal (unless I'm given permission later on). In all honesty, I lean towards a Namekian because of their potential for a variety of abilities beyond simply having a lot of raw power. It's relatively easily to simply fit the character's performance into a teir while maintaining a few biological and mystical/magic-like traits.

Failing that though, I'll just think of another character. I mean I'm most likely going to have one character that fits the mold of a Ki-empowered (pseudo) martial artist.

Well you can post the character, I'll review it.

But I beseech everyone, please do not saturate the roleplay with Fan Characters.

I think the most obvious question would be;

What is your character doing in this setting? Out of the two fan-type characters that could potentially pop up now, the space marine is the one that is the easiest to integrate into the setting. I say -integrate- because if he walks around talking about the god emperor, and how he is a space marine, and whatever, he isn't really very well integrated, now is he? (Unless his motivations become the integrator, which I suppose could remedy that, but it's jiffy.)

A namekian, on the other hand, is very.. out of place. Especially if he's calling himself a namekian, from the planet namek, you know, that blue one with the green water.

Personally? I think both examples should be denied if they use background information or terms that is native to the setting from which they derive. Like, saiyans, God emperor, tyranids, kamehameha. Etc.

Schradinger has a very good example of how you can take a character that is based on a different canon setting, like star wars, and integrate him into a different setting without removing the core of what being that character means. In my point of view, that should be a rule of thumb. A character should adjust to the new world he enters, not the other way around.

Is good to be back. Not that I ever really disappeared, but now I have reason to stop lurking here again. Expect another character up shortly x).

I would very much agree with the above; a few fanon characters tend to hold a certain stigma, but what Green lists out should alleviate the issues with most of them.

I'll go about creating the bosses since we're nearing the beginning of the RP.

There'll be about 10 or so bosses initially, though they're totally optional to fight.

I'll also have a few roaming PCs of my own that'll provide a bit of entertainment later on.

There's of course more, but I'm not gonna spoil anything.

Do you mean Bloodshot? He's kind of universally adaptable. Pretty much just a physically enhanced swordsman with really good armor (and guns where the setting permits)

Isn't the whole premise of this that beings from many epochs are pretty much colliding upon a single realm/world? If so, then how is any fan-based character any more out of place than purely original ones? Save for being a character that comes from this world, which is difficult to achieve finitely seeing as little had been divulged of it. To that credit, I liked the old continuum simply for the fact that the setting was very clearly defined as to make it possible to create a character specifically for the continuum.

Furthermore, I would contest that in terms of general abilities, the application of "Ki" translated pretty well across most universes.

There really isn't a setting beyond the Arena itself, as it is a location self contained in and of itself. Intertwined between an infinite number of times and spaces. The story will be held near entirely within the confines of this specialized Arena location, it's not that certain fandoms aren't out of place. It's just the simple fact that Dragon Ball and all related series are packed to the teats with characters who are so phenomenally powerful that unless serious constraints are put on them it wouldn't be fair for the rest of the group.

It's like a previous roleplay that I Co-GMed before the forum went down. One guy tried to bring in 24 characters that were all equally a strong as the average character, and they would all be working together. It would ruin the roleplay for everyone else if there weren't INTENSE reviewing processes on said characters.

Also, please stop comparing this roleplay to the previous, it's unrelated. I created this as a standalone RP, not associated with the previous Arena roleplays.

The five Big Bosses will be up tonight.
I'll try to have the 3 lesser bosses and my 2 roaming characters up as well, but no promises on those.

Once I finish up the Big Bosses I'll review your CS Drall.

Anyone who wants to enter should start putting up your character sheets. That means ye: Lalliman, Biddz, Wayward, Green, Laios, and Wilson. If I forgot anyone, I apologize. I'm writing this in a rush, I'm trying to write up a SHIT TON of character sheets at once.

Will our characters have access to resources in this arena? One of my character ideas requires that Arthur has access to the necessary materials to build him, which he would have back on his home earth. I assume that there will be some sort of link to the characters home universes, both since they were able to arrive in the first place and since the events are being broadcast through the multiverse, but does that link extend to accessing resources from their respective worlds?
