It is a cross genre thread. While it has a modern to slightly futuristic setting, it has many of the deeply rooted fantasy elements from its past. Humans originally were the only living things in their world with magic. However, a series of events granted these powers to the other creatures that lived in the world with them. People now live alongside these creatures with them as companions (it is a creature capture).
