Got a character sheet written up, lemme know what y'all think - and feel free to contact me if you'd like to work in some past relationships, because I think that'd be a neat way to link my guy into the story!

A bad peace is worse than a good war,

When I go more than ten miles out of the city, the love and loyalty of friends comes to an end,

All citizens must place the common good before the private good.

Yessss, welcome Squrmy! Please make yourself at home and consider yourself the number three fallout survivor involved with When the Smoke Clears. Konica, Squrmy, nice to know the WtSC family's still around, even if it's rather small. Already connected with ya on Skype about our plot so you already know the story's general vibe. That's also a nice profile sheet, so ...

Untirr is approved!
I feel like I should mention that dreamershell has taken a leave of absence due to real life issues so please tip your hat for him/her for stopping by and taking interest!
A word to the wise ... dead enemies are safe enemies ;)

Post is also inbound so keep your keyboards sharpened!

I did not even had the time to finish your last post, let alone read new character. ._. I'll be done with that by tonight. At that time I'll see if I have material for a new post, too!

Wow! I didn't know that you went to Turkey, Fern! What were you up to? School, Work, Family, Vacationing?

Vacationing - went to a sort of beach resort. It was very good, actually, and I did loads of things varying from kayaking to tennis to boat trips. It was nice to have a relaxing week, actually. Kind of disappointed to be back home since I enjoyed it so much

You don't want to stay long in Turkey tbh. People are either incredibly friendly or downright hostile and there is no middle ground. And you can't tell which from which. Not to mention you pay 10 for what's actually 1 because you are a foreigner and thus can be easily fooled.

I haven't even mentioned the looming civil war.

I spent the whole week in a small tourist resort so it wasn't too bad - everyone was friendly there. But, of course, Turkey itself is not the best country to be in at the moment. I was worried going over actually (thankfully everything was fine)

That's very interesting, Peik, Fern; I've always had the presumption that travelling through the Middle East would most likely result in one's kidnapping or injury unless the nation's more modernized like Turkey or Israel. Of course, I'm not familiar with the day to day news within either countries other than the Palestinian, Kurdish, and ISIS conflicts so aside from the reports about the PKK and the border mobilizations, I had no idea that Turkey's inner stability was taking a sharper turn.

Tourist trap-ish locations are a given since they exist in just about every part of the world, but sheesh, I'd at least thought the costs of living and commodities would be lower in Turkey than in other first world countries. Glad you made it back home, Fern, and if you enjoyed the vacation, that's all to the better! For many individuals, money seems like its tight these days and unless you're rich, seems like vacationing's an added blessing. I myself haven't had the opportunity to travel to Israel or Turkey like you Peik, Fern; and judging from the recent developments, I don't imagine I'll embarking on any Turkish sabbaticals in the next two to four decades.

Regarding character sheet matters, Uriel is approved!

Of course, this is very minor, Nevis; but if you could put spaces inbetween Uriel's biography paragraphs since the word clusters are a bit hard on on the eyes. Afterwards, Uriel's debut and perspective will bring a unique spin to the plot alongside our existing protagonist badasses 8)

Spaces added. Yeah, I know EXACTLY what you mean.

That misconception right there is partly the reason why I'm as I am with history. Our perceptions of peoples are influenced by what we think they've done or will do which affects our actions towards them. 'Western' stereotypes of the Middle East have so much wrong with them contribute in massive part to the situations over there-hence, to me, having an accurate paradigm-details are just a bonus, it's the basic paradigm about such things that's important-is not so much an issue with historical accuracy itself-it's an issue of war, humanity and responsibility. Fictional media has a much greater responsibility than it's usually viewed with (except by conservatives who want to blame it for EVERYTHING which is just as harmful in it's own way).

On a different note, why the heck is it named 'Turkey'?

Currently Turkey is the leading country in Europe when it comes to inequality of income - about 80 percent of the country's total wealth-income-money-whatever is held by 10 percent of the population. One part of the country has people buy random and expensive stuff for fun while another part has people killing themselves because they couldn't heat their children or bring food home. We also use the world's most expensive fuel, and pay the taxes of those who leak electric to their houses from electric lines. The government is actively using religion, or if that doesn't work, batons and tear gas to keep people down.

The people are incredibly hostile against each other because of politics, life's expensive, everything is breaking down, and all we're getting is 'Don't test our patience' from the government officials. Those who should enforce the law are instead breaking it. It's like a bloody nightmare.

Sorry for my absence; I've made posts on other active RPs I'm in and I'll just reiterate here. I have been hard-pressed to keep on-top of things due to midterms and senior projects. I don't have the same amount of free time to hop on the Guild and keep up with the happenings as before.
I'll try to get caught up when exams work themselves out and in lulls between long hours of senior projects.

Hey guys!

Sorry for not having said much over the past few days, but I've been fairly busy with finishing exams and such. I'm done now, though! But I've also got a Media assignment to finish, so that's taking up quite a bit of my time. I should be able to get an introductory post up for Untirr sometime soon, though. :) He'll be an antagonist to begin with, more than likely, but I plan on changing that at some point.

I may also write up a sheet for a Valanian sometime over the next few days, too, if I have the time!

@ Skulls - Read your message, Skulls; refining a special scene for our plot continuations 8).

@ Romenck - Just very glad to see Etchelion's debut and mark in Altaea. I am looking forward to more exploration into the Coal Company and their esteemed background so let me run up this post!

@ Aristo - That's fine! I completely understand how overwhelming projects are and given the descriptions, looks like you've got your hands tied. In the mean time, I'll place Guillame on the inactive roster. In case your load slackens, you are free to debut Guillame into the main plot arc at a later date.

@ Peik - That's very unfortunate to hear about Turkey and though I can't verify everything, the situation in Turkey does sound intolerable. I've certainly read about protests, conflicts with the PKK, the notorious hacker population, and other news, but ... on a side note, Turkey has come a long way since their early - mid 20th century Modernization efforts. It's good to know that the Turkish Armed Forces, Infrastructure, Educational Institutions, and Police Brigades are several shades better than their Southern Neighbors with the possible exception of Iran. Still, I don't know enough about your country to verify Turkey's strengths as a country. It does seem like there's much work to be done to improve the existing infrastructure.

@ Everyoneone else - That time skip is in the works and it looks like it's gonna be another ginormous outing. I was hoping Ivory, Aristo, or Nevis could make a post, but it looks like we'll be time skipping sometime into Thursday or Friday!
