Name: Reil, Clifford
Callsign: Oculus
Gender: Male
Age: 32
Psychological Analysis: Clifford is an all-around obedient individual, with a good amount of care and concern to give his brothers and sisters in arms. To Clifford, only two things matter: Finishing the mission, and getting everyone home alive. When he is given an objective, one can be sure that he will follow it through to the bitter end, but at the same time, he does his best to make sure his allies survive the battle. Even if he does not do well caring for the emotional state of his allies, he does manage to care enough for their physical well-being. However, when he is presented with a choice between his mission and his fellow soldiers, he will choose to make sure the mission is finished. He believes that any good soldier would rather lay down their lives honorably for their cause, than continue to live on as a life that survived out of dishonor or cowardice. He trusts that his superiors know the best course of action, and will mainly keep his opinions to himself. However, he is not blindly obedient, in that he does not always follow his orders strictly to the letter. Rather, he will perform the course of action that will be most effective and practical in helping him achieve his ultimate objectives instead of just the minor ones, even if those methods are unconventional or even if he wasn't explicitly ordered to. In this regard, he is creative and capable of looking at a situation from many different angles, and compatible as a member of the 101st Special Forces Legion. Despite this however, he is not very capable in a position of leadership, being unable to lead a team to its full efficiency, and preferring to follow commands rather than give them.
His skill set not only includes his practical mind, but also his near-photographic memory, and high awareness. He tends to see and observe thing that most do not. Not limited to physical objects, but also implied facts just from listening to and looking at people and what they say. Thus, it is not easy to keep a secret from Clifford. This has made him an excellent scout and intelligence-gatherer, as well as earning him his nickname: "Oculus"
Military Background: Clifford was raised on the colony planet Mareega, near the edge of UEE territory. He was the son of a father who was an officer on board the UEN "Glaring Zeal" and a mother who had been serving as Military Police on the colony. Due to the dangerous conditions of the colony planets due to the cold war between the UEE and The Coalition, Clifford had lived a strict lifestyle underneath his military parents. His family, not wanting their child to fall to Coalition propaganda, ensured that he was brought up as a straight and loyal citizen of the UEE. He completed his education with above-average marks thanks to his ability to retain and use information, and enlisted into the military as soon at the earliest possible age in order to carry on his family's legacy even after his parents are relieved of duty.
With Mareega being one of the countries at the frontlines of the cold war, there was much emphasis put by the local government into their military programs. Clifford went through rigorous basic training, where the high standards set for the recruits weeded out the weaker ones who could not keep up. Clifford managed to survive using his practical mind. He was never well-liked by his colleagues, who seemed to think he would abandon them as soon as they became a liability. This wasn't necessarily true, but their suspicions were reasonable. From the way Clifford acted throughout training and combat simulations, it was as if he treated both equipment and allies as resources for the mission. But at the same time, there were subtle hints that he took their safety into account when executing plans. Emotions never did click much with him.
He managed to graduate from the academy, showing exceptional skill as a scout and sniper. He was quickly assigned as part of a scouting unit on the nearby forested planet of Gratav, where they were trying to locate a mercenary group terrorizing the local UEE population, that was rumored to have Coalition ties. He spent around 6 months on the planet, both running field intelligence and helping fight back the occasional mercenary harassment and terrorization. While exploring the dense jungles on a routine mission, the group was ambushed, with the soldiers being quickly scattered and forced into a retreat. His squad had taken 2 casualties, and Clifford went missing. The remaining soldiers of the unit returned to the nearest base to report the situation. 2 days later, Clifford re-appeared. He had slipped into the shadows during the attack after the retreat order was given. He then proceeded to follow the mercenaries all the way back to where their base camp was, and spent the next 2 days (about as long as his rations could last) observing the mercenaries from the shadows, taking note of their numbers, movements, equipment, and routines among other things. After his supplies had reached their limit, he began heading back to their base to report his findings. The information he had gathered was pivotal in ending the mercenary operations in the area, though their connection with The Coalition was never confirmed. Nonetheless, Clifford received much praise and commendation for his actions.
It was not long after this that he was approached by a recruiter for the 101st training program. The days that followed after his induction was grueling; making his academy training seem like a game in comparison, and pushing him to both his physical and mental limits. However, he managed to push through it, and his existing skills were further honed. His ability to collect and retain information were as unmatched as his ability to give long range fire support with his ACS Integrated Sniper System.
Cybernetic/Biological Augmentations:
Retinal HUD and Imagery system: Cybernetic augmentations into both his eyes have allowed him to use it as both binoculars and a camera. Allowing him to get a 2x zoom into distant targets, as well as take digital photos which are saved into a memory chip attached to his armor. Aside from this, the system is linked up to any available intelligence databases, as well as the local file storage (on his memory chip) in order to allow him to identify various types of known equipment and machinery, as well as persons of interest. According to most mechanical experts, it is basically a dumbed down and cheaper version of the highly advanced ones used by the fearsome UEE Ghosts.
Accuracy Control Implants: Implants into his left and right arms allow him to perfectly steady his aim whenever he has too, as well as control the recoil of more powerful weaponry. While it is mainly used for gun accuracy and control, in a pinch it can be used to increase the strength of his arms when he needs to lift something, or deliver a heavy blow with his fists.
Loadout>PA-1 Scout Armor: Upgraded with night vision and heat vision modes for the helmet, similar to Spec Ops headgear, in order to maximize observation potential with the Scout armor
>Adaptive Combat System (He mainly prefers the Integrated Sniper System, and SpecOps Carbine attachments)
>
GX-V4 Tactical: A semi-automatic combat pistol designed for both versatility and accuracy, with an aesthetic design based off of early Machine Pistols during the Industrial Age.The Tactical variant has a silencing system capable of reducing several consecutive gunshots to the sound of a light whistle, as well as an attached laser-aiming-module attached on the underside of the barrel. It can hold up to 15 rounds inside of its magazine
>2 Barrier Staves (One shield, one sword)
>3 Electron Grenades
>1 pack of Biogel (For emergencies)
