@ Nemaisare: Well, unless I'm misreading your post, Sir just dealt with the archers taking potshots at Riven. Sweet! I shall add that to my post outline and adjust accordingly. I'll try to get something up by Saturday.

@ Maxwell: Would you be able to gather all our CSes into that first OOC post? For convenience's sake if nothing else.

Sir doesn't like arrows.... I'm pretty sure you're reading my post rightly. :) I'm just not entirely certain of the walls' layout as compared with the keep entrance, so there might be some discrepancy as to which archers he took out, but they'd at least be one part of the Soven group, I think.

Wait...so was it the city wall he climbed or the keep's walls? It actually looks like it was the city's walls but I'm not sure. Either way doesn't massively alter my plans.

Both. ;) He used the city wall as a step up onto the outer wall of the keep. My assumption was that the city wall would be shorter than the one circling the castle itself.

Nemasaire: The only thing off about your post is that there's still a hostile army out there. Command tents, supply wagons, seige engines and such are still hanging around outside the city, and the fields have probably been trampled. It's not super-important - it could be assumed that Sir's field of vision is limited and he's looking in a different direction from the advancing army, for example.

Otherwise, both your posts assumed different things than I did, but that's 100% okay. It happens in literally every game, and I deliberately gave the players a lot of power and freedom to keep that sort of thing from being a problem. We're only two posts in so far, but I'm already very satisfied with everything about this game.

Except maybe that everyone else is outshining me, and I can't keep up with this post length forever. D:

Lexicon: Thank you, I had forgotten all about that.

Edit: It seems like I can't. 65535 characters seems to be the limit. Maybe Raptorman could copy them into his first post in the thread?

Haha, I was wondering about where the rest of the army was, should have asked about that. I assumed this was either well in advance or they'd set up within the city walls. Whoops. I can edit something in if you'd like me to?

EDIT: I shifted the first paragraph around to include some mention of a camp, and then just made Sir ignore it, since it had nothing to do with Erasmus, as far as he's concerned.

You want me to put the character sheets into my first post?

Also, I plan to post by this weekend at the latest. I have a paper due tomorrow so right now I am focusing on that.

OK, so first post is up.
I know people may have problems with it, so if there are any issues, please let me know and I will try to fix them ASAP.
But really, is Roderick the kind of person to not take immediate decisive action?

I thought it was brilliant.

And I don't know if you meant poisonous fog or really did mean poisonous frog, but that made me laugh out loud.

Reread, you did mean frog... still hilarious. I don't know why.

Your post seems fine to me. In fact, it gave me an idea -- what if Roderick runs into Nykerius? The two are headed in opposite directions right now but their paths might intersect. Between the two of them, nobody could stop them from leaving the city.

@ Maxwell: Hey, I hate to ask you this but is there any way you could give us a layout of Castle Altranor? I only ask because I'm wondering if the courtyard Roderick ran through is the same one Riven is in? Or does the castle have multiple courtyards? It's just a wee bit confusing, though I can make it work if you'd rather us just roll with it.

My impression was that it was the same courtyard - the main one inside the keep at the base of the King's tower. There may indeed be other courtyards around.

I'd imagine that unless there's a courtyard within the walls of the castle itself, the general principle with fortified castles is that there's one(or two, but I think this only has one) outer wall that circles the building and one main building, with perhaps stations and small huts built against the walls, but rarely any true separation to make for individual courtyards. I could be wrong though.

That being said. It's a pretty big space to move around in if it belongs to a king and can fit a full stable and other animal pens in it. Soooo, it's probably entirely possible that they're in the same space and not able to see each other.

Heh, heh, heh, she's poetic for a huntsmaster. I have one problem with it, though. I really did not intend for the three enemy kingdoms to be cartoonishly evil (or for Erasmus to be cartoonishly good for that matter, although everyone seems to be on the same page there), and using peasant fodder is not something you usually want to do, unless I'm completely mistaken. A drafted peasant is a terrible fighter with terrible morale and terrible equipment - otherwise, why are you emptying your coffers to by weapons and armour for terrible fighters with terrible morale? - and extremely expensive. Since your peasant will most likely die, the cost of sending him to war is all the taxes he would otherwise have paid to you for the rest of his life, which is going to be a lot more than a single professional soldier's pay for a couple of seasons. If you kill enough peasants, you're also looking at a potential famine.

Nemasaire has the right of it, but I'll give you the layout here.

Hope you can read my chicken scratches.
