Personally, I liked the slotting in/out timelines system a lot. It makes it easier for me to address things that need addressing even if the RP gets away from me temporarily.

I'm thinking about Emily's next post - is there a place somewhere in all of this she can have some sort of physician examine her new scar? We still need to establish more about what it is/how it works.

Also, I will be hanging out in the TSW pad for a while today, if anyone wants to discuss joint posting, future posts, the boundless darkness that covers all of mankind, etc.

@Prisk: Fine with me, as long as we're allowed to do flashback posts for plot and/or character development's sake. However, doesn't splitting the combat-timeline and story-timeline still create the same problem as the multiple timeline thingy we had going? Something could have happened during combat that could have effected the story (or vice versa). At the same time, I do think that this is a way to continue a story without the combat preventing the story from progressing.

Edit: How many days (if it is days) has the group been traveling in the wilderness?

@Ex: If there isn't a physician around (although I would think there would be some kind of doctor around, but maybe not as technically advanced as the ones in the city), would Kim do? He was an aspiring doctor before he joined WARG so he does have the basic knowledge.

Dunno how I feel about the time-line change, I'm sort of one the border with this, personally.
I'm going to defer to popular judgement and final decision and go with whatever is decided, I can adapt.

I'm looking forward to the Anatolian farmers' out post! Been looking forward to it for a while now, especially for Mags' development.

I want there to be a bit more continuity. Think of it as a primary, overarching timeline and within it there can be secondary timelines. For example, the farmers’ outpost is going to be the next primary timeline and depending on what the characters do, there will be secondary timelines. It’s more or less the same as we’ve been doing already, but it will help me with a few things ‘behind the scenes’ to structure it this way.

The only reason for there to be a separate combat-timeline is when it belongs to the story, but it would be too extensive to function as the primary timeline — doing random combat encounters for ten pages without advancing the story would surely kill this roleplay off. Keep in mind that these are quite low key combat encounters and shouldn’t affect the story in any significant way. So, we will have The Anatolian Mountains-timeline for combat and the farmers’ outpost-timeline for story progression.

@Ex, the farmers’ outpost will have a Shaman, or a Witch Doctor, or some such nonsense. Surely, that person can examine Emily, if she has the guts to show it to him or her! Actually, this person might be more so qualified than a physician. Or what JJ said, let Kim fix it. Perhaps with the aid of whatever people there are at the outpost.

@JJ, they’ve traversed a small mountain pass, but it’s not too extensive. So, I’d say that they’ve been walking and fighting for two days or so, which to a normal person would equal half a day of the same effort.

@Rockette, exciting indeed!

Edit, important
Also, I’d like you to refrain from collaborations when all the characters are together. Let’s say that I introduce some story element and you guys start to plan collaborations. What happens is that everyone post their collaborations with little regard for everyone else’s efforts, as you either don’t know what they are or don’t account for them as they appear in the in-character. This leads to no character acknowledgements and nobody knows which collaboration that is the ‘present’ in the story.

So, limit collaborations to situations in which there, without doubt, are primarily only the characters whom are involved in said situation. Flashbacks are collaboration galore. When I split up the team for some side-quests at the farmers’ outpost, it will also be ideal for joint posting. However, when all the characters are doing something together, I’d prefer if you post regularly and leave the interactions open to everyone. Because right now, it’s mostly a collection of random 1x1s that happens to be in the same thread, and I don’t want that.

To be honest, I have never done collaborative posts until I joined TSW.
I can see why you're wanting to limit them, aside from Flashbacks, as it does look similarly to just a massive onexone thread.
I like them enough, as it prevents from back to back cluttering, however I know that it's properly preferable to hashing dialogue back and forth. I think my overall lack of experience with collaborative posting makes me treat them as onexone responses? As I said, I've never done them prior to this story.

I was discussing this with JJ actually, of exactly what and where and who was going on in the entire Tree of Life scene, and where some events were being placed and occurring because they seem to stand off by themselves unless specified otherwise. We were trying to pin-point them exactly.

Oh and Prisk, a response is waiting for you. Ironically we're discussing collaborations now, but. Yeah.

@Prisk: Sounds good to me, then.

Two days? Okay, I just wanted to make sure. I’m making a timeline of the events. Just to be sure I didn’t mess anything up, it looks like this so far:

June 7: Graduation Party
June 8: WARG initiation and Battle I
June 9: Battle II and Boss Fight I
June 10: Reunion with Samuel. WARG gets teleported and they travel through the Anatolian wilderness.
June 11: WARG’s travel through the Anatolian wilderness continues. Group gets to the farmer’s outpost by the end of the day (afternoon perhaps)?

That looks about right, JJ. There's no need for pinpoint accuracy, though.

Collaborations are okay, but in the right set of circumstances, not all the time. That's what I want to get across here. They obviously serve a great purpose as long as you keep them within that purpose. This is supposed to be group roleplay after all.

I also get that thing where you have to click the previous page to see the latest post.

I love collabs, so I disagree with this... And I'll point out that there's no rule that says collabs are limited to two people (remember when we all used to be on at the same time?)

But it's Prisk's call.

Also, I too am having that issue. It's another "feature" of the Guild.

Haha, my bad sense of humor. Anyway, it's not like we'll never use them again, and there can indeed be more than two people in a collaboration, but then it's equally prudent to just collaborate through the actual thread when there is more than two people. A group roleplay is a collaborative effort, you write together through posts in the thread, so... just do that, when the situation does not specifically call for a 1x1.

Conversely to JJ, I finally have a break this weekend!

That means you can all expect a pretty long, mostly solo Emily post this Saturday or Sunday.

Prepare to bewarb!

Really? I thought that was exactly what the kiss was for.

I’m more surprised that you even thought that Ghost wouldn’t react “much” (actually, didn’t we talk about something like this a long time ago, some time when Aaron and Mag were talking together on the boat? I believe I did say Ghost would get mad at Aaron if and when he put the moves on Mag). But I’ll apologize if my post made you (or anyone) uncomfortable.

No no...its perfect, it was the level of writing that got me. If anything I was impressed so don't worry JJ, everything is going according to plan *insert evil laugh here*. By the way at some point we have got to do a confrontation between Aaron and Kym (other than what you've already given me to work with lol) so they can have an old fashioned super-powered duel for the fair maiden XD

Man the past couple days have been trialing! Extensively so, but I'll be back to normal tomorrow, I just have an appointment to get some blood drawn and I'll be home all weekend.

Pff, fair maiden, not sure how Mags would feel about this! Things are certainly becoming interesting.

Most apologies to Prisk, hopefully we can finish things up tomorrow when I return.

I swear, can't leave you kids alone for a minute.

It probably goes without saying that in spite of my best efforts, life intervened. I will post as soon as I can, hopefully before the weekend is out.

That said, I think I might have expressed this before. But in the event of my prolonged absence I give ya'll the right to use Remi in your own business if it pleases you. Particularly Prisk and Ex, since they probably know Remi best, but everyone is welcome to him if it strikes your fancy. Just try to keep true to his stringent but crumbling character.

That said, I will really, really try to hammer out some sort of post this weekend and get into more of a regular rhythm again shortly.

Sigh...I'mma crawl off and die now.

Mmk.
We're going to complete any and all interactions that are currently going on and finish up the current battle before I advance the story to the farmers' outpost. In between those two things, we're also going to take a breather.

Also, stop saying when you're going to post. I can't say that I'm particularly happy with how people say "I will post then and then" and don't do it, so just leave it.

I completely agree, nothing upsets me more than when I fail to be faithful to the word of my promises.

...except for genocide I suppose...or sexual abuse...or other attrocities...I suppose those probably upset me more.

...but being unable to keep to my promises still really upsets me.
