The number of times I've heard about people not having seen the original Star Wars trilogy, and finding no fault in that, has kept rising.

That shit is pure culture at this point.

I think schools ought to stop showing kids those typical 'based on a classic book, boring for a teen' movies and make sure those fuckers at least watch Star Wars.

as soon as I posted that I watched the pilots to both days like these AND that 80s show, because I always somehow end up doing that once I remember that either of the two exists

When I used to visit my grandpa as a kid, he’d put on the original Star Wars trilogy for me and my sister to watch. And while I still really like the prequels, if only because I watched them through my childhood rose tinted glasses, I gotta say that the originals are some of my favorite movies. I really hope that the new ones are great, because then it might prompt younger views to watch the classics.

American Doctor Who is kind of already a thing.

The 1996 TV movie, anyone? It was produced by Fox and set in the US. :P I'm also pretty sure the entire cast was American with the exception of the Doctor himself.
