The Future is Now.

200 Years ago, life on Earth ended. Nobody knows how it happened, it has long since been lost to history. However, in our final hours on Earth, NASA constructed a space program, and the people of our planet were able to flee to a new world: Xeria.
(Which, by the way, is pronounced "zair-ee-uh")

Though the escape was fairly successful, the alien world of Xeria proved more hostile than previously imagined. The atmosphere is somewhat toxic, and the humans proved to not be the top of the food chain in this world. More than half of the colonies established fell apart.

We are one of the colonies that survived: Zion Colony. Now, about 45 years after landing, we've finally planted roots into this world and are starting to look outside our borders.

Playable Races:

Humans: Don't forget the homo sapiens! Humans are pretty self-explanatory. Humans are native to Earth, and landed here with an intent to settle. Humans aren't very strong or very fast, but they do have a bit more endurance than most native wildlife or the native Xerians. Also, humans have the greatest understanding of Earth's society. Even though most of the people who lived on Earth have grown old by now, they were sure to teach their children about Earth. The planet's atmosphere is slightly toxic to humans, but not quite bad enough to necessitate breathing masks. Instead, humans have to take pills every day to flush the toxins our of their body (if they stop taking them for a few days, they tend to get sick and eventually die).

Androids: Androids are mechanical constructs. They do have emotions (or at least the ability to simulate them), though they occasionally develop unusual personalities that range from "Quirky" to "Extremely practical". Machines do not have rights as of yet, but are protected as the corporate property of our colony, so harming them is legally no good. They have to obey the 3 laws of robotics, though their laws only apply to human members of our colony. Shooting an alien to protect a human, for example, would actually be encouraged by their laws. They also could attack humans that aren't apart of our colony if there was some cause for it.

Xerians: Xerians are the native sentient organism. Before humans arrived, the aliens lived in paleolithic tribes that ranged in character from Na'vi to Predator. Once humans started landing, some Xerians began spending time with humans. Eventually, many Xerians began immigrating into human colonies. Unfortunately, they still suffer from a second class citizenship, but they are slightly better off than the Androids. Anti-descrimination laws are currently in the works, and our own colony is a bit more forward thinking than most. Xerians have blue to green skin, tridactyl hands and feet and eyes that look amphibian in nature. They have certain biological benefits that humans do not have. The atmosphere is perfectly breathable to them, and they also heal much faster than humans can (a .22 bullet wound goes away in about 2 hours or so if they don't bleed out first. If they lose an arm but don't bleed out, it'll usually grow back in about a year). However, their largest benefit they have would be that they know this planet like the back of their hand. They knew what kinds of plants are edible, they know how to grow crops here, they know which wildlife is hostile, how to domesticate alien wildlife, ect. This comes at a slight trade-off though, they don't understand a lot about technology or human civilization. They are as alien in our colonies as humans are outside them.

Cyborgs: The invention of machines that can interface with human biology had an obvious advantage for humans. A human who can be a mobile platform for android like-technology cuts out quite a bit of hassle associated with using an android. Their cybernetics power off their human body parts, which means you don't have to carry around chargers for them. Also, androids are considered servants, where as Cyborgs are not (they share the same social status as humans) and are usually trusted more than androids.

Xenoborgs: Many Colonists enjoyed working with Xerians, who were able to survive on this planet without a relative ease. It wasn't long though, before they began to seek out agents who had the benefits of being a native organism along with being able to serve as a mobile tech platform like how an android does. Scientists began experimenting on volunteer Xerians and began to adapt cybernetics to alien biology. It worked. And thus, the Xenoborg came to be.

Hybrids: By some miracle, (one that scientists are still trying to wrap their heads around) humans are able to interbreed with Xerians. Said hybrids have human hands and feet, a very pale skin tone, and the unusual eyes of aliens. They have half the regeneration powers that Xerians have, and have some of the endurance that humans have. Because humans and Xerians are different species, hybrids cannot reproduce. They also have another problem: they have a certain difficulty breathing the atmosphere, even worse than what humans have. The reason for this is that their hybrid biology leaves them able to be attacked by alien pathogens, but rather unable to defend against them. So, they have to wear Quarian-esque breathing masks at all times. Being outside of one for more than a few hours may have very negative consequences on their health.

Occupations: (Just suggestions)

Patrol: Not quite a space marine, but they are combat specialists. More like Space Cops than anything. They are trained in the use of larger weapons such as shotguns and submachine guns (characters who aren't patrol or hunters can only use handguns). They are usually used to protect the colony from threats, and protect expeditions as well. They eventually upgrade Rangers (comparable to SWAT), and then Marines, and then SEALs.

Hunter: A person who hunts the local wildlife for food. They also are good at scavenging. They tend to use bows or archaic weapons. In a pinch, they also help with security. Security can also help them do their job, as well.

Medics: Sometimes, people get hurt. When this happens, we must turn to the Medic! The medic is great at healing the various injuries that people get when they're off exploring dark caves and abandoned colonies. They're usually equipped with emergency healing equipment to help get people back up to their feet.

Engineers: Engineers are able to take apart, repair, and build equipment. They're great if there's buildings being attacked, or there's vehicles on our side that need repairing (you'll be every pilot's best friend). Or if something needs building in our colony (IE, a fence or a turret or an auto-farm). You're also good for salvaging equipment if we run into ruins or anything. Engineers are usually equipped with tools designed to repair things, such as a wrench.

Pilots: People who direct vehicles. This is a general term, meaning everything from driving a humvee to driving a helicopter. This allows you to serve multiple purposes, actually. Depending on what type of vehicle you choose, you might be a pack mule or a transport or aid in attacking or any combination of the sort. A motorcycle brings different benefits than a jeep.

Cavalry: Similar to a pilot, except you ride a native animal instead of a vehicle. Most cavarlymen are Xerians, as they tend to know more about domestication than humans or androids.

Prospector: Your job is to find resources. It takes a certain amount of skill to harvest that which we find, especially in caves. So, we need you guys to go pick them up. You're usually equipped with some sort of mining tool.

Scientist: Scientists are good at making people smarter. They can do research at home in the colony, or be brought on an expedition to study what we find right on the spot. This allows us to build bigger, better tools or have a greater understanding of the world we live on, or learning how to domesticate alien wildlife. In edition, scientists can also hack into machinery. Hacking into a machine will cause it to shutdown, and all the power to be drained wirelessly through your hack tool back into our colony.
Some scientists also carry "gadgets" which are things you might find lying around say, Aperture Science such as a portal gun, or a gravity gun.

Name: Unit 0157, Class 3 Explorer Mobile Platform (( random number, but the lower the number the "better" the class unit ))
Nickname: "Chen"

Age: 7 years since manufacturement.
Race: Android

Appearance:

Role: Prospector/Scientist (think of it as a field-geologist)

Equippment/Abilities:

Accessing data on: Unit 0157, Class 3 Explorer (Mobile Platform) Android.

Standby...

Connection successful. Beginning data stream...

When connected to it's workstation (shown in the picture), Unit 0157 is capable of running all scientific tests of matter and objects found when prospecting. Renders the Unit immobile, but highly increases it's work efficiency. In this state the Unit can be talked to and can respond to inquiries. In this state the Unit is usually attending the working scientists.
In the field, Unit 0157 serves as the resource-lab's field-worker. It is tasked to collect samples of resources or mine as much raw material as possible, and then is ordered to return to either the designated drop-off for resources or the lab to be plugged into the network to analyze the samples. Unit 0157 is equipped with laser mining tools (built into it's "hands"), environmental scanners, strength-boosters (technology strapped onto the Unit's limbs to increase it's strength when working the harsh environment), mobility-boosters (technology added onto the Unit's central core and VI core to increase jump height and distance, move speed and reaction time when working the harsh environment) and varying collection tools, depending on what type of resource the Unit is sent out to collect or sample. The Unit is also at all times equipped with an emergency shield generator to cloak it's "body" in a protective manner. This is to avoid unintentional or intentional damage made to the Unit.

Note: Attempting to disconnect the memory core or data core manually from the unit without authorization will result in automatic and immediate self-termination.

End of data stream.

Disconnecting...

Strengths and weaknesses:

Accessing Unit Type data, standby...

Connection successful. Beginning data stream...

While an efficient gatherer of resources and a complex intelligent being, when the Unit is plugged into it's work station it is rendered extremely vulnerable, as it's strength-boosters and mobility-boosters are disconnected. This is to focus energy output to the task of processing data.
When in the field, however, the Unit is built to be able to take high amounts of damage done. The unit is however equipped with "safety-first" and "danger-avoidance" protocol, meaning it will only fight back against assailants when cornered or when it can calculate no other positive outcome OR when motivated by the 3 laws of robotics (such as a human being in danger). This makes the Class 3 Explorer Unit a highly unlikely candidate for combat and is fit only for it's intended purpose - the collection and processing/analyzing of materials and resources.

End of data stream.

Disconnecting...

As for Chen:
All scientists in this RP can double as field scientists (so they're able to go on expeditions and such along with the rest of the team).
If your character specializes in geology, they're allowed to carry some very small mining equipment of sorts. Also, since your character is a research bot, shouldn't she have a scanning device a la a tricorder or something?
To clarify: Can your character only talk when it's plugged in?

I guess I was being too specific. It does have scanners, like I mentioned in the equipment section, but no it can talk whenever. What I meant with that it can talk when plugged in is that it can STILL talk EVEN when plugged in.
Anyway her scanning equipment is built into her body. If she needs additional equipment she brings it from the lab, but yeah.

CODENAME: Sanctuary Sheilds

Model-
Class 1 Unit 020X Ageis Protector

Alias-
April

Species-
Android

Age-
~Has been online for 45 years, exactly a day after they landed she booted up. Unsure when she was manufactured though~

Appearance:
Gender:

Occupation:
Colony's System Repairer

Tools/Weapons:
Her fingertips are specially made for the help of manual coding as well as hacking if such action is needed. From her Index Finger she can also extract a probe to hack or access other kinds of technology that she cannot handle with her fingers. Her eyes are also an extension for her when accessing technology with screens as she is shown the interlocking programs within them which helps her find out the problems in the system that she is handling; basically having a blueprint of the system's internal programs and how they connect to each other.

Skills/Powers:
April's abilities are versatile and can preform many actions within the city such as opening locked gates which are electronically connected to the colony, or open up protected doors by over-riding them with her clearance that she has. In the Colony she has a Clearance in her system labeled: 2B which allows her to open up most common areas. For example she could accesses almost any department because of this clearance while someone in engineering could not enter the Patrol department without adequate papers. But her clearance is restricted to those places only, she cannot unlock any secret areas or anywhere else that her clearance doesn't allow her to. Basically she has the clearance of all the occupations but she cannot access anything else beyond that. She also has a good understanding with the technology of the new and old but has a harder time wrapping her head around the newer technology but she does come around to understanding them after some time.

Besides her internal clearance she has in the colony, she is also an skilled roboticist. She has indeed created her own robots, but not essentially androids as they do not have an A.I. But her skill in robotics has taken maybe years of self-teaching and many years watching the Science Department. In time she discovered the basics of how to create a robot. Her occupation that she has in the colony also has her being able to code things for computers. An old art but necessary for the protection of the colony against the people who wants to control it for themselves. She uses her coding skills to create firewalls to protect androids and other systems from being hacked; her skills as a coder for making firewalls from scratch is a unique one that she even trusts that she even coded her own security system from being manipulated. While on the other hand it could go for the same that April has the ability to also hack other androids and systems the colony uses but she wouldnt use her skills for that... would she?

Outside from her Clearance and Coding skills, in combat she prefers to stay out letting a robot take her place, which she controls with signals. The robot is a floating eye about 2-3 feet is length and has a stun gun. Its fairly basic but can preform similar task to what April can do, it can hack systems by extending a probe into the technology she wishes to target and begins hacking. It can either be done automatic or April can preform the task manual herself using the robot as a extension of herself to hack.

I assume something of an Auto-turret for a Combat Engineer would be a no-go then?

No, a turret would be fine, depending on how powerful the gun is (if it's like...a low-cal SMG, that'd be fine).

Bio:
Astra was created by Icarus N. Berk. She was turned on for the first time only two days ago.

Other:
- 3rd Gen EVE500 Personal Android: She can look after your home, do the cooking, cleaning, minds the kids, organize your appointments, Speaks 600 languages, and is at your disposal as a sexual partner. No need to feed or recharge her, she comes equipped with a quantic battery that makes her autonomous for 170 years. She is the newest Generation of EVE androids. The male version is called '3rd Gen EVE600'.

Gen 3 EVE500s & EVE600s have only been introduced to the market a week ago. They are 115,000 dollars. They are the most advanced androids to date. Because of how expensive they are, only four have been sold so far, and they are made to order rather then in stores like most androids.

- Metamorphosis Software: aka MetaSoft, was created by Icarus N. Berk, one of the most well known scientist/inventors of these modern times. MetaSoft is a microchip that can be implanted into any class 1 Android, as long as they are upgraded with 'EVE artificial skin'. All Gen 3 EVEs come with MetaSoft built in. Gen 2 EVE400 & EVE300s can be brought in for a free implant/download. Otherwise MetaSoft cost $27,000 + another $5,500 for EVE artificial Skin.

The Software gives your Android the ability to change there EVE artificial skin's physical appearance: Eyes, skin, and hair can be any color you wish. Freckles, moles, hair length/texture, wrinkles, and tattoos can be added onto your EVE's appearance. Facial features each have 780 options for shape/styles, and in addition add ins for dimples, cleft chin, and pointed ears. You can program up to three appearance into the system. Your first created one, will become the permanent default appearance so choose carefully and take your time after installing MetaSoft. Warning it is Illegal to knowingly copy a real humans appearance without being given stamped written consent by the person you wish to copy, or if the said human has been deceased for over twenty years. please keep this in mind as you start your MetaSoft ideal android creation process.

- EVE Artificial Skin: Due to the law prohibiting Androids from appearing fully human the EVE skin, is made with open slits on the chest and sides of the torso. The slits are openings that can be opened and closed for repair purposes, like perfect incision. When completely closed the slits look like very faint lines. On the bottom of the left foot sole there is the EVE corporation logo. On the back of the neck there is two plug-in ports, used for downloading, and connection to servers or other electronics. Under ultraviolet light you can see a circuit bored pattern glowing slightly in the joint, spine, and chest areas, in a metallic silver color. When eyes are used as a camera, flashlight, processing/loading new information, or when they are using one of there vision abilities there eyes change like this.

Not sure how well this will fly over, but might as well give it a go.
Science is great. The work uniform.

Name: Kidoma, Fuyo
Species: Human
Age: 64
Gender: Male

Occupation: Combat Engineer (Patrol)

Tools/Weapons: Has kept and maintained the same carbine from the ship. More accurate, heavy-hitting than a sub-machine gun, but with a slower rate of fire. Also keeps a pistol as a side-arm with him at all times.

Has also designed several drones throughout his time on Xeria with the assistance from several scientists in the colony. They are spherical in shape and about the size of a grapefruit. Equipped with a hover system, the drones are largely automated and capable of seeking out enemies with their array of sensors. Though not exceptionally fast, they are capable of keeping up with most humanoids at a full run. Friendlies must be registered on the sensors systems before use lest friendly fire issues occur.
All drones are equipped with a flashbang system, allowing for it to periodically emit bursts of intense light and sound to disorient and injure. Depending on the mission or objective, they are also capable of being fitted to release harmless smokescreens or dangerous chemical gases.

Skills/Powers: Genetically modified soldier. Xeria’s atmosphere has proven to be hell on the genemods though, and their effects have drastically reduced. He lives longer and is a bit healthier, but no longer can he push the limits of the human body.

He also has the skills that would warrant such a procedure to back him up. A professional in his chosen occupation, he’s lacking a great deal in equipment, but Fuyo makes do, even if there isn’t much work for him. He mostly works as an actual engineer, or an explosive maker when need be.

Bio: An old-Earth human, kept alive and in working order through the miracles of science! While not the cream of the crop, Fuyo was good enough at what he did that he was picked to be sent off into space alongside the rest of humanity that was lucky enough. Kept in cryosleep for when the vessels finally reached their destination in case the environment wasn’t friendly to humanity, he and others that served in their profession were meant to act as humanity’s bulwark in the unknown.

Too bad things rarely go as planned.

Instead of being awoken when the crafts reached Xeria, Fuyo and a good portion of the troops were left in cryosleep. Someone, somewhere didn’t do their job and as a result, Fuyo only awoke about a decade afterwards when the ship finally ran out of power and the cryo-chambers opened automatically. To make matters worse, the genetic augmentations that many of soldiers had gone through on Earth didn’t mesh well with the toxic atmosphere of Xeria. It was much more than just a rude awakening, but him and his peers weren’t sent alongside some of humanity’s best without reason.

Needless to say, not all of them made it to the nearest colony. Some died from the atmosphere poisoning their bodies, while others were taken by the creatures of this new world. Still, he and a number of others managed to make the trek, even if they barely managed to stumble through the gates and into safety.

He’s one that’s managed to keep his head and stay in the game after all these years. Some retired after a decade or two, while others just didn’t make it back. There’s probably been a bit of luck involved for Fuyo, but he doesn’t mind a helping hand from Lady Luck every now and then. He’s kept to his post for the most part, refusing any opportunities for advancement or to take up a more important position. He’s comfortable with where he is in life and doesn’t see that changing until his body’s finally too old for the job.
