Anya and Luc both took reaction shots against the nearest ghouls they saw. "Enemies spotted, three, they've seen us!" Anya reported over the radio as soon as she had a moment. Still, though, it appeared that the rest of the team had noticed and were charging ahead and around. A number seemed to be trying to move to flank them, so Anya and Luc decided to stay and serve as a distraction.

"We move how we like, corpse man." Luc, having spotted one trying to keep a lookout for any moving teammates, decided to put some good old shock and awe his way with a suppressive barrage of bullets. The sergeant had charged forward without informing them before it was in full effect, but it was better to be safe than sorry.

Anya rolled her eyes at her brother's somewhat cheesy callout and held overwatch if any of the other ghouls had smart ideas.

Sergeant Burkley's plan worked out. His lightning reflexes made the ghoul keep missing. The shotgun blast also killed the ghoul in one hit! Packston's group also laid down the slaughter when Anya and Luc laid down suppression and reaction shots. The suppress and slaughter technique worked!

Erzi's burst did some amount of damage, but her quick shot move finished off the ghoul lurking around. She got her first blood! Suddenly, a shot from afar came. Packston would have gotten hit as he was right near the cross-hairs. But...Xue with the jet pack was the target! It was none other than a skeleton with its standard magic scoped carbine! It was a critical hit at that too! Reasons were that the shot was placed right between the eyes. Unless he was stabilized in time, he might as well bleed out on the ground and die. Packston was able to pinpoint the skeleton's exact location: The second floor of the ruined building they were fighting near.

Her eyes widened as bullets flew, hitting Packston and then Xue. It was time for her to move on from her cozy little hiding space and do her job. Latching her rifle into place, Ezri ran through the battlefield towards Xue. "Oh no you don't!" she muttered to herself, dodging ghouls and bullets as she ran, "Not on my watch!" "Packston still should have the med kit I gave him, if they can provide him cover, he should be fine" the thoughts raced through her head. "Packston, you alright over there?" she yelled out.

She squeaked and squealed as she ran, somehow managing to evade fire. Ezri finally made it through to Xue. She pressed a palm on his wound, and quickly inspected him for any other injuries. She ripped open a side pocket and pulled out her kit. "Cover me!" she yelled. "Stay with me Xue, alright, you just have to stay with me. Come on, tell me a story, how did you get onto the team?". She quickly cleaned his wound then pulled out a nifty travel sized sewing kit. Xue wasn't really telling her any stories, his words were incoherent, but he was talking, and that's all she needed him to do, besides, she was too busy trying to focus on what she was doing. "This might hurt a little, you're doing great." Her stitches were a bit sloppy, through out all her years in service, this was only her second time in a combat situation. Her hands were a bit shaky, but she was able to close up the wound. "Now just the finishing touch, Ezri style", she muttered, more or less to herself. Pulling out one of her signature bandages, she wrapped him up as best as she could.

"Alright, lets get you somewhere safe". She scanned the area for a suitable area and started to drag him there. She grunted and groaned, she was so not made for the heavy lifting. "ohooiet'" she groaned. She noticed his jetpack, her eyes widened, there was a twinkle somewhere in there, through all the hectic mess and bloodshed. "This looks really heavy! Here, let me hold onto that for you" she stifled a giggle , 'liberating' Xue of the magnificent item. She equipped the jetpack onto herself then proceeded to try and move him, she grunted. "Someone help, please!"

"DAMNIT, EZRI! WE STILL HAVE THE SKELETON WATCHING, IF YOU DO THAT BOTH OF YOU WILL DIE!" What the hell was she thinking?! Will had to kill the Skeleton and fast, before it decided to take a shot at Ezri.

Thoughts flew in his mind, of a battlefield, of his squad dying in front of him to the Six. He wasn't letting that happen again. William slid over a crate and hid behind a pillar, his pistol sliding out of his holster into his hand. Spinning around, he aimed at the skeleton. "Taking a shot at skelly before it fucks up Ezri and Xue." Will pulled the trigger, accompanied by the loud 'bang' and the flash that he was used to.

Independent tactical decisions of their team mates meant that the siblings found themselves taking a more active role. Someone had been hit, that meant there was a threat to be dealt with quickly.

Anya, seeing Ezri exposed while trying to treat the hit Xue, pulled the smoke grenade from her harness and pulled the pin. "Placing a smokescreen!" She shouted through the radio, before tossing the canister between Ezri and the perpetrating sniper. "Drag him behind something, quickly-"

"-I'll deal with pussy over there," Luc interrupted. In the time elapsed, he had pushed up to a kneel and was pointing a rocked launcher at the sniper nest. It was too difficult to get a good rifle shot from where they were, the place was crumbling already, not to mention Luc didn't have quite enough bullets left to lay down more suppression. "Clear backblast," Luc said calmly before a jet of orange light pushed out the rear of his launcher, quickly dissipating into smoke as the rocket lanced towards the building's second floor.

Hundreds if things happened within minutes that changed the perspective of the battle. Packston's plan had worked with the help of the siblings, the flanking team was easily able to destroy the opposition without to much resistance. Packston was just about to advance and find better cover, but a sniper shot made him think twice. Although the shot was off its mark Packston still slid to cover behind a wall. "Second floor of the ruined building." He yelled into the radio.

Packston was about to direct Otto and Lee to storm the building when a smoke screen stopped him in mid sentence. Unfortunately one of there operatives was hit and the medic was trying to stabilize him, but she was out in the open. Packston stood up ran up to her and helped pick up his body and set him behind a wall. "I'll cover cover you if any paranormal come close." Lee reloaded his gun behind cover and watched for any more paranormal, it was clear on the ground, but the sniper was annoying. Fortunately a rocket was hurtling at its face. Otto still have have is magazine so he was covered for now, unfortunately the group was pinned down because of the sniper, hopefully the rocket his it's mark. He looked back at Packston, it looked like he was providing cover and help for the medic. They would have to hold down this area for now, so Otto and Lee kept watch.

The ploy of the entire team worked. Anya smoked out the danger and provided cover. The valiant sergeant damaged the skeleton with his pistol, though Luc finished off the enemy with the rocket. Packston and Erzi managed to stabilize the fallen comrade while also relieving the jet pack.

In the distance, there was the mystery material mentioned in the briefing. It was in a large clam shell type container. Once the materials were recovered, the remaining objective would be to eliminate any and all of the paranormal forces.

With the help of the team, Xue was able to stabilize. There was a moment of clarity for Ezri. Bullets flying, buildings crumbling, explosions, through all the noise, she looked around her and a smile crept on her face. But it was that of a genuine happiness, a state of control, of purpose. No one could guess the thoughts going through her head but, something about it all, about what was going on, for a split moment, seemed right to everyone. They had done something together, and there it was.

Still crouched over Xue, securing his safety through the battle and holding her cover, she leaned up on her feet to glance around her. As the smoke cleared, there it was. She pulled out her rifle once more. She chuckled at the clicking sound as readied the weapon. "You see it guys?" there was a determination in her voice, "What's the plan?"

"The plan," William said, pointing at the mystery material. "Is to take that thing back to base for the scientists. Any volunteers?" Will changed to his shotgun, looking at the rookies. "I'll cover you when you go there." He took cover closer to the material, aiming around with his shotgun. If something surprised them, he'd be ready for it. At least, he hoped so. "Going on overwatch." He'd shoot any paranormal that moved.

Packston sighed in relief, the medic was able to save Xue's life. Know there were more pressing matters, the special material they were looking for was right in front of them, unfortunately they did not know what was going on around the material, they had know idea were the enemy was, but they could not waist time being paranoid. "Lee, find cover thats not to far from the item so you and shotgun can provide cover for Otto. Otto I want you to go for the package, take it slow, don't rush, and watch you your self." With utter silence the men moved into position, Lee was behind a car that was to the left of the item, and Otto was slowly and warily walked towards the item. Packston climbed up onto of a large truck the over looked the whole thing, he was going to provide cover if things got bad from up there.

By the fresh hole still billowing dust from the building that Luc's rocket had impacted, the sniper was no longer a threat. Now, their objective was in sight, and there was a lull in hostilities. Anya and Luc both took the time to get back into cover with the rest of the team in sight. Luc began to reload his machine gun, while Anya kept her rifle sticking out so she could watch over the team's advance.

"Collateral damage didn't cross your mind, Luc?" Anya quipped.

Luc didn't seem to care much. "Was anyone else hurt but the bastard in the window?"

Anya just blew a hiss through her teeth and dropped the issue.

Otto was able to get near the object without incident. But as he got the opportunity to snag the package, a trumpet-like roar was heard from a distance. William should be able to recognize what it was just by its very sound. It was evident that paranormal forces were zeroing in on the location of the squad! The sound may unnerve the squad, but its very appearance would be even more frightening!

Accompanied by a Jinn handler, it was none other than a manticore that swooped into the fray. Both were airborne and exploiting their positional advantage, primed their weaponry, going to overwatch. The Jinn in particular was armed with what appeared to be a magic equivalent to an Earth-based submachinegun. This allowed it to lay down suppressing fire so the manticore can easily maul the enemy. Though the spines on the tail do not seem to be as promising as the melee equipment of the manticore. The man-eater monster may live up to its reputation if the operatives were not careful.

"Oh God. You have got to be kidding me." Will muttered, staring at the Djinn and Manticore. "There's a manticore and a Djinn. Do not engage without heavy weaponry. Supports and snipers focus on the Djinn, Assaults and heavies focus on the manticore." He spoke through intercoms.

Will stayed in cover, over watching again to catch the Manticore when it inevitably charged.

Without hesitation Otto grabbed the item and sprinted behind cover,"Aye, I have out item." He yelled as he continued to heave. From Packston's vantage point he had a clear shot of the Manticore, and he did not hesitate. He pulled the trigger and sprayed the Manticore with a barrage of Railgun fire. From Lee's spot, he was able to fire at the Manticore from its left side, he started to fire at the paranormal, unloading a whole magazine into its body.

Both Anya and Luc were lining up a shot at the monstrous beast and its handler before them. They didn't exactly know how to handle the situation, so they stayed their trigger fingers until the sergeant gave them instructions. Luc heaved himself up and jogged behind a further piece of cover to give himself some distance, then turned around. He held his machine gun at the hip with the carrying handle and wasted no time unloading on the manticore. "I'll mount this thing's head on the wall!" Luc shouted over the rattle of gunfire.

Anya took her time with her shot, but was a little shaky from the urgency of the situation. She shot a burst of assault rifle rounds at the djinn's centre of mass and hoped that neither creature would pay particular attention to her.

William Burkley's instructions were followed to the tee! Packston and Luc turned the manticore into Swiss cheese with the hail of bullets. The Djinn on the other hand was heavily injured thanks to Erzi and Anya. However, the Djinn had one trick up its sleeve. It could teleport! It teleported right to Packston for two reasons. One is that Packston seemed to be more vulnerable and two Packston was the primary killer of its pet! It then moved into melee range, taking out a sword as it did so.

It would be a good opportunity to capture the Djinn, if Packston can deck or disarm the enemy quickly. Otherwise, he'd require assistance from the assaults to capture it. William Burkley would recall how he and his team first captured a ghoul. The group would realize that the Djinn was on its last legs so to say and can capture it. Capturing it would also mean that the weapon would not self-destruct as observed on the ghouls and skeletons.

Center radioed the group with, "Don't kill the Djinn outright! It's heavily injured and it would be much more valuable alive than dead!" Center had a plan for interrogating the Djinn. He had ways of making the paranormal talk.

"Packston, behind you!", Ezri yelled over the com.

"I have a shot", she quickly warns, firing a shot into its last legs with the hopes of bringing it to its knees and stopping any hit on Packston. If successful, this might also make it easier to capture.

A memory of Will's first mission with Paracom came to mind. It was surreal. The blade about to strike his teammate, the order from Center to capture it. William pulled out his pistol and ran to the Djinn, eyes narrowing with determination. But, at the same time, William 'Assassin' Burkley felt pride. The squad was alive, not a single casualty, for once. The rookies actually made it...This far, anyway.

He shot at one of the Djinns legs, shouting at it. "IF YOU STRIKE OR TRY TO ESCAPE LETHAL FORCE WILL BE USED! SURRENDER OR DIE!" It was like what he did to the ghoul. Except the Djinn was a lot more powerful.

"Damn" Packston yelled as the the Djinn appeared next him, he smashed his Railgun into its face an jumped off of the truck and found himself cover behind a car. "Someone take it out." He yelled. Lee fired at the Djinn to cover Packston. Otto ran back to the ship to drop of the item in a safer place.
