Edited my character sheet out of the hider and added personality/background sections. I also did a little casual brainstorming in regards to possible character relations. I haven’t done everyone’s characters, but enough to get the ball rolling, I think!

I think that Kasparov and Laster might get along well. He might be the prime subject with which she will discuss her interest for black holes and other dimensions, thinking that he will have the answers.

I can imagine that Laster and Sandoval might disagree on a few things, perhaps some kind of love-hate thing where they throw jabs at each other, but without any spiteful intent. His profession and background will be something that does not resonate with Laster.

I can see Laster heavily tending to D’Angelo on a daily basis due to his prosthetics and scarred body. While he might not need her minute attention, he will be an interesting ‘subject’ to her nonetheless.

Laster might be the one to slap the captain on her fingers for the use of vulgarities! And then patch her up afterwards.

If I'm accepted that sounds good Prisk! Right now I think i'm the weakest writer out of everyone so I'll try to keep up with the character relations haha Black Holes and such would be quite interesting to talk about! I'll have to read up some.

Preacher's gaze follows the departing Doctor Laster with interest, one eyebrow cocked in amusement and a shit-eating grin spread all over his face. He swings his booted feet from the table to the floor, arms (real and not-so-much) stretching overhead with a satisfied groan as he feels that *pop* in his spine. He rises to his feet, glancing back down to Captain Pretorius with a helpless shrug before he turns to follow the doctor to yet another appointment - no matter he's not entirely sure the point of it.

"See ma'am? Chicks dig guys with scars... "

Thanks for those CS's Blackbeard and Wordsmith. Our little crew is certainly growing :).

One thing I do want to clear up, and I hope that this won't turn anyone off of the RP, but the space travel portion won't be a large part of the story. In the Prometheus/Alien canon, when ships cover very large distances--light years--the crews use hypersleep to avoid the negative effects of time dilation, and avoid having to carry the required resources (food and water) that would be needed to stay awake for such a long journey. The moon of LV-223 will take two years for the Aphelion to reach, traveling faster than the speed of light. So, during the majority of this time, our lovely crew will be in hypersleep. In fact, I plan on our RP beginning with our characters waking up just beyond the orbit of LV-223.

@Blackbeard-I want to make sure and add that your navigator will still have plenty to do, as he would be utilized to orient the Aphelion in system once everyone awakens, as well as helping to pinpoint the Prometheus crash site on LV-223.

Does all that make sense to everyone?

Good, I was hoping as much. We can only get so far RP wise in a 2 year journey :P And great, thank you for pointing that out, I was a little cautious going for the Navigator but it's good to know, actually a little nervous that I'll be important to the beginning! :S I'm guessing once we are in the thick of it everyone will assume the same role of squishy human trying to survive anyway :P

Yeah, I mean, the underlying premise of the story is that most of our characters will die. So I doubt the fact that we won't be RPing 2 years of space travel is going to be turning anyone off at this point. If we've made this kind of investment for an almost-guaranteed-death game, you know you probably have us no matter what

Traditionally, only females seem to survive in the Aliens series... Females and androids. So it looks like we're SOL.

Preacher's kinda android... Ish... Semi-bionic... Sorta? So he has a slim chance of survival!

Actually Heroes doesn't strike me as the crazy-heavy-handed-God-modding-GM; I half-suspect the only people who wind up horribly mutilated, eviscerated, disemboweled and/or impregnated with an Alien chestburster might be those who disappear form the RP - though I suppose we shall see, no? *grins*

Igraine, I stand corrected. The only thing that could make someone like I described leave an RP like I described is exactly what you just described.

I won't be satisfied unless a minimum of two people are horrible destroyed.

JK... kinda

You're so sweet Serge - does this mean you're volunteering your poor character to get wrecked, all for the greater good and satisfaction and such?

Crap, I saw the interest check but didn't know there was an OOC. Is there still room? If so, I'm reserving this spot for a CS.

EDIT: Actually I just realized I know very little about the Alien universe. I haven't even seen Alien. So maybe this isn't the best rp for me.

Hi there MusketMan - this is a link to the post with the available positions still open if you'd care to consider one. You'll also find a short CS template and a list of already accepted characters.

And... *pats Serge gently* There there now, I've no doubt a great deal of mayhem will be had, never fear!

I do believe there are a couple others MusketMan, besides yourself, who aren't completely fluent in the Ridley Scott Alien world either. But if you read Heroes' posts at the front of this OOC? You should have a fairly solid footing for the ship Aphelion, some about the Wey-Yu corporation and a few other bits. It would also help a great deal, to see the movies "Prometheus" and "Alien" if you haven't already. I know Heroes was at least joking about making it required viewing. *grins* But anyway, both are excellent films, so it's really not a chore if you haven't and would immerse you more than enough in the world, if the beginning OOC posts here don't.

eta: I do hope that helps - I'm off to bed for real this time

-Name: Zelda Whitehead
-Appearance:
-Crew Position/Rank: Engineering Officer
-Age: 31
-Relevant History/Background:

Zelda Kate Whitehead was born on January 23, 2076 in Island Park, Idaho. Her parents were wealthy doctors who lived in the beautiful forests of Idaho, away from the general public. Zelda's childhood was a lonely one. Living in the mountains she had no friends except for her nanny. She spent most of her time outside, exploring the rivers and hills, finding new things the past had left behind. It was on one of these explorations she found broken controls to a space shuttle. She hauled it to her garage and started to take it apart. She spent the next couple of weeks studying that thing inside and out. When she put it back together, she noticed the lights were on. She pushed some buttons and flipped some switches but nothing happened. Her parents found the control panel and noticed how she had got it working. They were ecstatic, but Zelda was disappointed, the buttons and switches didn't do anything.

When Zelda was 10, her parents enrolled her in an expensive school in Utah. She excelled at Math and Science, especially physics and geometry. When she got into the higher grades, she attended classes that focused on space vessels and mechanical and electronic classes. She passed them with flying colors. By the time Zelda was 16, she knew what she wanted to do with her life. She wanted to become a Engineer and travel through space. When Zelda was 17 years old she was accepted into a university dedicated to all fields of Aerospace. After 6 years of intense study, Zelda earned her masters degree in Aerospace Engineering. Her parents were extremely proud of her and threw a party in her honor. Her mother died that night. She choked to death on her own vomit. Racked with grief, her father retired to their old home in Idaho, where he shut himself in, refusing anyone, even Zelda. Zelda's perfect life had crumbled down around her. In 2100, she got a letter from Weyland-Yutani offering her a job in a technology research team in London. The pay was great. She took the job, the last couple of months were hellish and she needed something to keep her busy. She worked with the team for two years, introducing new ideas to the company and responsible for innovations such as fuel efficient thrusters that are used currently. The company seemed satisfied to keep her with the team, but she wanted to see space. She applied for a colonization mission and was accepted. She was out in space for a year, keeping the ship in shape and helping the colonists set up shop on the new planet. She returned to earth with a new look on life, her eyes shining with the rekindled hope. She called her father, hoping to tell him about her journey. He picked up. It was the first time he had talked to her in 3 years.

Zelda kept on applying for space contracts. And while the company felt it was wasted talent, they allowed it, knowing any ship she was on was in safe hands. She relished the adventures of space. She went on dozens of missions, some long, some short. But by 2105, she was a veteran of space travel. She had finally found purpose in life, she was lost after the death of her mother and seclusion of her father. But she knew what she wanted to do until she died and her father called her on a regular basis. In the September of 2106, The Company sent her a notice that she had been nominated for a special mission, and should she accept, will be tested among hundreds of other candidates. The recruitment process was...grueling. So many questions and tests and reviews and assessments. But in the end, she was accepted. She was told this was very classified, so when her dad called she could tell him so much. But he was proud of her nonetheless and told her that he loved her. He hadn't said that since she graduated from college. A song in her heart and a twinkle in her eye, Zelda couldn't wait for this new assignment.
