Good morning everyone. I hope you all had a nice night (depending on your time zone of course ). At any rate, a big thank you to Igraine for her help in the OOC. You're as indispensable as ever.

Musketman, just to play off of what Grainy said, if you read the OP you'll get a lot of relevant info. On top of that, however, I highly recommend at least watching the movie Prometheus. Barring that, you could easily wiki the plot summary of the film and have a fairly good grasp on what will be going on.

As to death, and its role in this RP, people can certainly die. I wasn't intending to kill off people at random though, or just because. I'd like to give players the opportunity to get out of their sticky situation, at least for a while. However, once again Grainy is all too correct...if you are gone without notice for an extended period of time, your character will die in a horrible fashion .

I was thinking that Prisk had the right idea with the character relationship business. We've probably been training with each other for a while, and probably know one another pretty well. Maybe we could do some more relationship building before the RP officially starts. This wouldn't have to mean delaying it, of course. But, honestly, I don't really know how we'd go about something like that. PMing? some sort of convo over a shared document site?

A splendid and superb idea, TNY. I very much encourage this. I think PM's would be the best way to go about ironing out the details. If anyone has interest in making a little background between characters, go ahead and shoot out some messages. I'm still working on a couple NPC's at the moment, but if anyone would be keen to developing a little history with Lena, please don't hesitate to let me know.

I was also thinking about the other security team members. For roleplaying's sake, would Diego have any control over that team, or would it be organized by Wey Yu without him?

Of course, if it is the former, it wouldn't mean that I would have to design or pick them myself. Though, I would graciously accept that task were it given freely.

I'm thinking for the security team members, providing that no one else comes forward and wants to create a character, that I'll just make some generic ones as NPC's. You'll be running them mostly, TNY. I just want the option for other people to be able to easily interact with them for whatever reason.

Well FYI I've watched all the Alien films + Prometheus and other things around it (AVP and the like) so if anyone needs a little help feel free to ask although I'm sure Wiki will suffice. Getting excited for this now! Would the Navigator be with everyone in training? or could i potentially be a late-comer to the party? I'm just thinking that whilst everyone can have ties to one another a cool contrast could be one person who is new to the group, doesn't have to be me but I'm thinking someone like the pilot/navigator would eb most likely to get tacked on at the end.

Oh and I'm in England...for time zones and stuffs.

Haha thank you!, what I meant was I'm not a regular in the advanced section. I hope that doesn't impact my place in the RP. I'm confident I can write at an advanced standard, but it's more of a chore than simply fun so I don't do it often. I want to improve though so I have been looking for an RP of this Caliber to join, You all seem supremely comfortable at this level, meaning any and all constructive crit would be welcome :)

I watched Alien last night, I'll see if I can get Prometheus, if not I'll get cracking on my CS. I also played Alien Isolation (Great game btw) so I've got a good idea of the universe now.

Awww... thanks Blackbeard *blushes* But the only reason it was a 60 second off the top of my head thing, is because of years of incessant, ingrained smart-assery. ;)

I need to learn that smart-assery XD I'm alright in fantasy settings because there is a lot you can describe but I think in circumstances like these it's hard not to repeat myself in terms of describing the surroundings.

Yep, I was indeed planning on having them be Colonial Marines. And I can totally work in the part where one of them knows the Preacher .

Just another quick note to everyone: I'm still working on the other NPC's, and a couple other minor things. I would love to have the first IC post up on Sunday. It's great to have this activity in the OOC, so I can't wait to see what kind of energy you all put into your character posts. I imagine it will be awesome.

Anyway...!

I was browsing tvtropes and determined that Olivia is definitely “The Chick” if one would go by the extremely generalized ‘five-man-band’, perhaps “The Heart” fits her as well, and “Team Mom”, both of which usually being part of the ‘the chick’. I know a lot of people here and on roleplaying forums like to be the ultimate bad-asses or the loner-fuck-you-type of persons, and that is fine, but I definitely have no problems with not being any of that.

In a general sense, I will probably steer Olivia on the path of these tropes that I have listed; makes it easier for her to be consistent in her character, but I will do my best to avoid two-dimensionality. As for her character arc, I am thinking something along the lines of her stance towards pacifism changing, but I have not entirely decided yet. Even if I do not explicitly mention it in her character sheet, Olivia is definitely a pacifist.

@Musketman-Welcome aboard! Thanks for getting that CS finished.

@Prisk-I'm glad you're taking your role as Olivia so seriously! At this rate she'll be the most refined and polished character we have.

Pretty good, AH. One of my other roleplays is making some unexpected progress, so I'm excited for that. Plus, the more I think of this RP the more anxious I am for it to begin. It's been a pretty good day overall, I suppose.

On another note, I'd like to talk to you about a potential connection between the Captain and Diego. I'll send you a PM in a little bit.

You made me smile this morning, Prisk! I don't doubt for a moment there will be "tension" there, but perhaps partly because there's no trope that fits John Paul at all, unless you call him a sheepdog. Then again, I usually wind up making most of my characters - one way or another - as sheepdogs, so not necessarily that interesting *shrugs*

The day is going wonderfully here Heroes, now that I'm home from my morning appointment and the hour plus one way drive *shudders* BUT, I pray your day is going spectacularly of course, and I'm so excited for the start on Sunday! *cheers*
