Edit: Make that fourth! As of yet no one has applied for the Scientific Officer or the engineer. Alternatively you can be a Security team member I think.

I was into dubstep and the whole swag thing A LOT when I was younger, but not so much these days. I luckily grew out of it!

Wonderful Nosuchthing! Obviously all new characters will have to be approved by Heroes, our GM, but still looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

And... Well dang Prisk... I don't know what it says about me, that I still like some dubstep (though it wasn't even close to the music of my childhood)? But your new list looks pretty good too for the eclectic music lovers among us ;)

Name: Alice Triskin

Crew Position: Mechanic
Age: 30
Relevant History/Background: Raised by a single mother, Alice’s father was an Engineer, a man obsessed with his job which, it was undeniable, he had a certain gift for. He was employed by Weyland on an oil freighter as their chief engineering officer. It wasn’t good money, but it was enough to survive, unfortunately when he was due to arrive home for the birth of his daughter, Frank Triskin never did.

Alice and Georgia never found out what happened to her father, the crew was written off as killed in an industrial accident and Georgia struggled by on the miserable stipend provided by Frank’s pension and life insurance. To her mother’s dismay Alice proved to be her father’s daughter, being even more gifted with machine’s than her father had been. When she caught the local mechanic teaching Alice the workings of his latest commission she beat her daughter soundly and gave the man a piece of her mind.

It didn’t work though, and Alice gradually picked up more and more, taking to engineering in the same way that most children take to playing outside. A few years on, and Alice’s mother lost her job, leaving the two facing homelessness and probably, starvation. Alice started fixing small things for the neighbours, and repairing the many things that broke down in their home. Eventually her mother stopped denying it and Alice started working for Weyland, though strictly on terrestrial projects, in deference to her mother’s wishes.

It was an apprenticeship, and of all her fellow students she stood out, easily coming in the top 10% of the intake, falling down perhaps on her written assessments, but excelling in any practical examination her examiners cared to give, often well beyond any expectations and assessment conditions. She graduated a year ahead of the rest of the pack, and was offered a position on the Aphelion project, constructing and improving the ship based on the original Prometheus blueprints. Several of the mechanical improvements were as a direct result of her intervention and designs. It was only logical that she would be offered the position of Mechanic on the mission, and with the financial benefits included in the deal, she couldn’t turn it down.

Her mother was furious, but by the time she found out, it was already too late…

Well, it's really whatever you would prefer. I can make it work with either choice, but if I'm being honest, I'd lean towards the Scientific Officer.

Ooooh... But it's so much fun to blast the Amish guys at work with a heavy dose of Bassnectar! Thank you for reminding me, however, that I'm doing a most fabulous job of not growing up.

But I saw Pink Floyd mentioned a few times. This is good. For a more recent impression of the same scene (psychedelic) the discerning listener might enjoy Porcupine Tree or Riverside. I am not sure what direction your metal tastes swing, but there's always Opeth -- provided you don't mind growling. Then again, there was a time I disliked growly vocals entirely, and it was Opeth that brought me around.

Good to see we had a sudden character influx. I'm looking forward to the start of this.

I guess I don't have much fully fledged Dubstep but things like Prodigy/Pendulum etc I have a lot of. I generally listen to Stoner-metal (Witch/High on Fire) or Pyscho-metal (Tool/Perfect Circle) for my Psychedelic tunes :) And as for Metal as a whole I've never really gotten into Opeth, Aren't they melodic death metal? with the Operatic singing? I'm not so keen on that. I don't mind growling, Lamb of God are one of my favorites. But anything with monster riffs I'm generally happy with :D

Perhaps something about his personality Rare, and something about why he specifically was assigned to the Aphelion? Just a thought, if you'd like to expand a bit.
