I was wondering if anyone wanted to do an RP that takes place in the a fictionalized version of the biblical end times, as usually shown in works such as Left Behind. My particular twist though, will be that this RP takes place in the far future, and have a sort of cyberpunk/post apocalyptic edge to it all.

A basic idea for a plot:
Our RP takes place in THE FUTURE (At least 150 years into the future), an event known as the great Cataclysm occurs. This is the worst disaster that ever occured. In a single instant, 1 third of the entire human population instantly dropped dead. Chaos ensued. Also, the billions of dead bodies began to pile up and were left unattended for some time, leading to the rapid spread of illness. Also, with all the missing people an anarchy, many nations found themselves on the verge of economic collapse. In order to grab up extra resources so that they could stabilize themselves, many nations declared war on each other. The global conflicts only made things far, far worse.
Out of the blue came an organization known as the Global Welfare Confederation. The GWC was initially just what the doctor ordered, fixing up some places fairly nicely. However, it would not stay benevolent for very long. One of their council members, by the name of Adrian Delmore, managed to negotiate a peace treaty between Russia and the Middle Eastern powers. He was rapidly given more power to thunderous applause. His power and popularity have only been growing, to the point of being a de facto despot. The most popular religion of his time, Prometheism (a fiction religion, BTW), has even become his own cult of personality. To many, he is nothing short of a deity.
Our characters would be the resistance force to him.

Christians still alive on Earth at the time will never see death. The Rapture is what happened to Elijah, Mary, and all the other people in the Bible who have never... died. I would say that millions of people just.... disappeared. Maybe clothing and personal effects would be left behind... but like about one third of the population would have simply ceased to exist in the mortal world. Not died. Just... ceased to exist.

I have heard it been argued that the people would in fact, "die" in the sense that they leave behind a body. I suspect that the disappearing might be somewhat more plausible, though. I'm mostly doing the dying for artistic affect.

Some scholars predict this may be in a form of a credit-card-ish computer chip embedded in the forehead or the hand. This would have probably not have been administered to Christians. Christians would have become very poor and undergone much hardship. Sorta like WWII Jews.

The Mark of the Beast will most certainly be an entity in this RP, though it won't be a problem until after the indwelling. I'm going to be changing it up from the typical credit card chip, but it'll do that as well. It's an implant applied directly to the forehead and/or forehand. It connects a person to the Bablyon Network. This allows them to rent property and money from the Prometheist Church (citizens of the GWC will not be allowed to own any property, only check it out like a library card). It also allows them to be tracked by the State, monitors and maintains their vitals, communicate in every language, and works as a low-level mind control device. The Marked are somewhat creatively sterile, uncurious, enthusiastically worship Adrian Delmore (no matter what their opinion of him was before), and cannot be reasoned with. It is impossible to convert a Marked, for example. The Marked are considered to be a transhuman master race, and the unmarked are primitive animals.
A Christian would avoid taking the mark for very obvious reasons.

P.S It is still possible to be saved and become a Christian during the 7-year tribulation during which the beast out of the sea reigned. However, as said above, it would have been difficult to endure the persecution doled out by the world leader. I sort of like the idea of underground Christian resistance groups... :P(They will, in my own opinion, probably be Christian because the rest of the world will probably love the Antichrist. But either way, this is for you to decide. Your RP anyway :P)

There is a Christian resistance movement known as the Yeshuites, and they're what our RP revolves around, in fact. It's a secret society where members are given an "Icthus Implant", a chip imbedded into one's forehead which allows them to identify other people with the implant. Obviously, Adrian Delmore dislikes Christianity, and does everything within his vast power to make their lives miserable. For example: refusing to rent property to them, censoring things they say, burning Christian monuments and churches, forcing people to follow the doctrine of Prometheism.
There are plenty of people who aren't on board with Adrian Delmore, but even if you aren't on board with him, you're probably totally on board with the idea of not volunteering for a public head-and-neck seperation.

After the Tribulation, according to the Bible Jesus descends from heaven in the Second Coming and, literally, all hell breaks loose. The forces of the Antichrist will rally against Jesus Christ at Armageddon, and it will essentially be the most memorable battle in human history. Interested to see how you interpret it....Ooh. And don't forget the two prophets, the Four Horsemen, the star named Wormwood who releases whatever lies in the Abyss onto Earth, the psycho lady-scorpion things that will be given the power to harm men for five months, the 7 bowls and trumpets, the thousand-year-reign, bounding of Satan, and of course New Babylon. ... Either way, I'm guessing this RP will be set during the Tribulation. All that stuff happens AFTER it. So... unless you want to fast-forward in time, you don't have to add all of that in.... Damn I think I should be getting back to my own RP.

Oh, don't worry, I'll try to pack as much of that stuff in as much I can. Especially the two witnesses! In fact, they're something of the leaders of the Yeshuites. We'll end with the 1000 year reign, though, simply because there's that 1000 year time lapse.
