There is a school of though which says that the first child of a Nephilim, beleived to be the infamous Cain, was the first to prove that the child of Nephil's could have angel blood introduced to them, creating an immortal type of human many believe may be the first vampire, which would explain their method of transmission, as well as why all human beings aren't overtaken by the vampire race.(BTW, I love this idea so much more now that theres a real stream of information.
