Name: Rurik Vexor
Alias/Nickname: Vex
Age: 21
DOB: August 1st
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Hetero
Appearance: Other: His arms are covered in scars, most small and faint, but a few larger ones as well. Interestingly, his hands are almost entirely unscathed. His hands, specifically his right palm, is where he keeps his guild mark. He tends to wear sleeveless shirts, which probably has something to do with his scars.
Personality: He has a youthful and eager demeanor, and has a tendency to get ahead of himself. However, when it comes to situations that are clearly serious, he becomes far more cautious and wary.As such, enthusiasm tends to fade when it comes to fighting. This borderline spit personality has a tendency to catch some people off guard, as generally speaking, he's hard to take serious.
His energetic personality doesn't necessarily make him social however, as he has a prideful, lone-wolf attitude. He is very self-reliant, and loathes to ask for help. However, being part of a guild has begun to break him down little-by-little, but he still tends to try and do things himself whenever possible. He isn't unapproachable, but very, very stubborn.
Magic Type: Caster
Magic Rank: Around B
Magic: Predator Magic Rurik's magic has also been called Hunter Magic, and Claw Magic, though the latter doesn't do it justice. It is broken into three main categories, each very viable, but each also increasing in power over the last: Claw, Fang, and Talon. There is also an auxiliary category known as Sense that has no real offensive use.
Claw magic hardens his skin, and then coats them in energy, allowing for strong, slashing attacks. With enough power, these attacks can become energy projectiles. There are many variations of claw magic, but for now he knows only two: Tiger and Bear. Tiger grants him more speed to his attacks, and lends itself to longer range attacks. Bear has lass speed, but far more crushing power.
Fang magic works largely the same way, but focuses on single, strong, piercing blows. They can also form projectiles, and generally have much more range than claw magic. Rurik only knows one claw magic, which is Wolf. Wolf allows him to strike with two fingers and penetrate things as hard as stone. However, it has limited ranged use, but makes up for it by being faster than most fang magics.
Talon magic is the best of both claw and fang, as it can slash and penetrate. It also adds the ability to "grip." Talon magic has no projectile ability, but can instead extend from the body a short distance, giving the user more reach with his limbs. For example, talon magic could create a sort of spectral, energy claw that would reach out and drag in an opponent that would normally be out of reach. Rurik currently knows no talon magic.
For all offensive magic, the energy coating that makes them works dissipates slightly with every attack until he has to recast the magic.
Lastly is Sense, which simply boosts a sense, such as hearing or sight. More powerful sense magic allows one to see auras through even solid matter, but Rurik cannot yet do this.
Claw Spells:Tiger Claws: Increases the physical speed of any limb it is used on, and toughens the skin. Creates an energy coating that allows for slashing attacks.
- Flying Tiger: He shoots the energy out for a ranged slash.
- Tiger Trap: He again launches the energy, but instead it travels only a short distance and hangs in the air. He can create a latticework of energy that will cut anything that touches it, but once hit it breaks.
Bear Claws: Gives a small increase to the physical strength of the limbs effected along with hardened skin, but more noticeable is the concussive force generated by his attacks, along with, a slightly weaker compared to tiger, slashing effect.
- Berserk Bear: He launches the energy of the spell, creating a ranged slashing attack. It is a larger set of projectiles and so is easier to aim. Maintains the concussive effect, though it is a little weaker.
- Raging Bear: A melee version of the spell that hits harder that immediately uses up the energy of the spell, but has a vastly stronger concussive force.
Fang Spells:Wolf Fangs: A weaker than average spell that focuses energy into sharp points for a piercing effect. However, it uses his energy efficiently for rapid, sustained attacks. Does not strengthen his physical abilities in any way, but has the usual hardening of his skin.
Talon Spells:Sense Spells:Ears: Increased hearing in all directions.
Eyes: Magnified vision.
Nose: Sense of smell.
Biography: Rurik grew up in his family home, in the deep forests, learning the ways of predators. His family thought it best to learn Predator magic by learning of the animals it was based off of. Rurik soon learned a great respect for animals and a love of fresh air and the outdoors. He also got quite used to a certain sense of freedom and being able to roam and run as he pleased. This gave way to his distinct personality, as he had the energy of a free-roaming child, but the caution of an animal on the hunt.
However, before his training was complete, his family became the prey instead of the hunters
They were approached by a dark guild, looking for recruits. His family had always been unaffiliated and prideful, and thus were used to such propositions. However, this time upon refusal, they were attacked. His family fought valiantly, but fell against magic that went against what they were used to in nature. Their ways had always been disciplined and rigid, adhering to the laws of the forest, rather than the chaotic reality of men, so they were not prepared for such a violent assault. Rurik was dragged away to be indoctrinated, and lived in captivity for months. In this time he was subjected to two kinds of torture. He was deprived of food and water, only given just enough to not die. The other was far crueler: one of them was nice to him. A younger woman in their guild would often keep him company, though she refused to tell him her name. She promised him that she wouldn't let him be hurt, and at times seemed to beg him to give in and join them, as she didn't want to see him suffer. After a while, with her being the only one to show any kindness, he even grew to like her. She told him she'd be like his big sister, and that he could have a new family in the guild with her. He almost gave in many times, but his pride and his sorrow held him back.
Even with the young woman's kindness, he was unable to find even a sliver of forgiveness for her guild. His time living according to the laws of nature had its advantages. He was an opportunist. He, with a pang of regret, fooled this woman. He said he was tired of captivity, and that he trusted her, and in a way, he actually might have. However, he at the same time lied to her, and managed an escape when she let her guard down. When fleeing through a forest, the dark guild could not track him for long.
He soon found himself in civilization, a world that was totally foreign to him. People lied, cheated, and stole for reasons he often couldn't fathom. Nothing they did was just for survival. Life as an orphan was difficult, and hunting wasn't easy, and he often had to venture far from towns. He was barely a teen though, he knew he couldn't live on his own. He'd learned from animals, but he wasn't one. He didn't want to live like a hermit, totally away from other people. He was also a mage, and he had a score to settle.
Such needs led him to Fairy Tail. It was a place where he fit in better than he could have imagined. He knew in his heart it was where he belonged, and he was eternally grateful when they accepted him, but he had a lot of trouble opening up for years on end. He developed his own way of trying to fit in, which was to be as useful as possible, rather than friendly. In time, he even forgot about revenge. Something so selfish and violent just didn't seem to have any place in the guild. He'd never forget the most horrible time of his childhood, but he also never wanted to experience such loneliness again. Even if he set himself a little apart from he others in the guild, he enjoyed their presence beside him, even if they didn't know it.
