On an unrelated note, anybody care to drop-out?

Not me! I'm just waiting for things to happen. I think that would require us to be all in one place though. I have no problem with the whole girl on girl flirt... but it sure has taken alot of posts...

Name: Doctor Richardson
Age: 38
Occupation before the turn: Curator at Imperial War Museum
Gender: Male
Image (NON-CARTOON IMAGES ONLY):

Appearance:
Personality: calm, solitary, drinker, dark, creepy, "insane", over powering, intelligent, stubborn, aragont, gambler.
History: The mind of a man is a sensitive thing, many a catastrophe can push it over the edge, it can experience love, hate, friendship and everything else. what im trying to say is that its a amazing thing. now to couple that with the travesty we have faced in our lives here and we get a emotional train wreck. now this is where we meet our new friend here, Mr Charles "The Doctor" Richardson.

what can we say that hasnt been said before. he was a smart guy... if a tad insane. when the crisis hit he grabbed all the ww1 and 2 guns he could and started a journey accross the world... killing anyone he felt like.

oh hey! for future reference, I am carrying three swords.... A tanto, a wazikashi, and a katana. They're part of a set. The katana is strapped diagonally across my back and the two accompanying blades are on my hip.

Also i get a seriously bad chill reading the anderson CS. Dunno why, but I do @n@

For future reference, carrying any blade longer than arm's length on your back relegates them to storage-only until the sheath is completely de-mounted from the back.

This applies to all back-mounted 2-handed swords (and gun in scabbards mounted on your back). Good place to stow them on the march or run since it keeps it from getting entangled with your legs and gives your arms a rest (which is pretty important since your arm-stamina equals bullets in an ye-olde-days swordfight). Terrible place to have it when you desperately need to get something sharp in front of you (hence the prevalence of daggers or 'sidearms', so kudus for having two, since I'm more of a fan of swords of the unwashed masses of Europe).
Langes Messer, the first legal-loophole weapon

Meanwhile, de-shouldering a pike... doesn't take very long at all, does it?

Actually I have a bit (several years) of sword training. While this does apply to straight blades and blades with larger tips than hilts (such as a scimitar), a katana or dai wazikashi is designed with an evenly curved and completely even blade. What this does is it makes it so that you can draw the blade with more speed and momentum in your wrist. While it is better for a speed draw to go from the hip, if you need alot of force its good to use the strength your shoulders and back provide by drawing from the non-dominant shoulder. This is why the scabbard for a katana is so loose fitting on the lanyard, and why there are accompanying wazikashi and tanto (which is technically just a name for a short wazikashi) so that if I need some steel in front of me discreetly or quickly its there when I need it, and when I need a strong first attack regardless of speed of the draw, I have that too. Admittably most would rather have the wazikashi on their back over the katana, but I prefer to have the katana on my back since most people don't know jack about using a sword, and if I come across someone who does, I have the wazikashi and can hold my own with it until the Dai-katana is drawable.
Thank you for commenting on that! It's nice to know someone has an appreciation for good sword strategy! ^^

It's actually a knife, honest.

Also, quoting will cut-out link-text, try copy-pasting raw post-content into the quotebox (over the garble) if it seems to lose context.

It's a wazikashi... the term refers to any accompaniment blade in that style... so not quite a knife... just a short wazikashi... Also, I'm aware of the text system, I'm just dont feel its worth the extra five steps to add it. You know what you said, and its right above me anyways... I'm just quotiing to tell you who im talking to. I'll seperate your post out into pieces if im responding to certain things though, just for clarity.

Would it be bad for the free ness of this RP if my first post had a backstory post attached to it?

Lmfao, free people don't care about lengths- that's the point of free. Sometimes I have time for a paragraph and other times I have time for several. The worst they will do is not read it- but for some of us, (like myself) I enjoy the lengthier posts, and shall be enjoying it.

How much backstory would be good backstory? Should I split it up over a few posts? :) I love this...

Kind of depends. I say keep it relevant to whatever tie in to the present you are using for backstory. Save the rest for later when you can surprise people! ^^ Or let it all hang out cuz hey! Backstories are fun to write and its nice to get that feeling of "damn I'm appreciated because that person just made an obvious reference to my long backstory that they could have skipped." My suggestion though when taking that route is keep to lots of paragraphs, not one big block of text^^

The Focus was deserted by Yuri when he escaped the highway.

So, my post was long, but mostly because it was dialogue heavy. Hopefully it's not too boring, or wall-ish. Dialogue tends to make things look like walls.

Hey Darc.
There's two boys in the room around your age but I want to assume that you mean Tom.
I wanted to clarify because it would be easy to assume it was me since my character is your age exactly, but like I said... Pretty sure its Tom.
