More great ideas. I never would have thought of Titanic and that is brilliant. Pompeii would also be cool, but i may have to get creative about why they go back. Can't imagine someone thinking they can stop the eruption and going back.

they could try to convince to people to evacuate, that would seriously affect the worlds population by both number and evolution, not even to mention the art and knowledge that will be either lost or gained

Ah but the idea is we can't change the timeline. That's why we go back. Someone is trying to change it and we have to stop them and try to get ahold of there machine.

They could try to convince a whole town to evacuate but people would think that person warning them was crazy and there wasn't exactly the technology back then to prove that it was going to explode. Plus the tremors that occur before the explosion would have been seen as a sign from the gods and not a sign of eruption and the Romans were very stubborn with their believes.

When I wrote about Pompeii, I had my characters go back to stop a single individual who thought he could warn/save everyone. Obviously he was mistaken, as he doesn't even know the language. But it made for a fun short visit. We catch him, take his machine, etc.

Maybe a scenario where some deranged person goes back and attempts to talk the Nazis out of invading Russia? I think that's pretty important since if it wasn't for the invasion of Russia there's a good chance Germany could have won. Or if we want to go further back I'd love to do something in the medieval period, perhaps the Crusades era.

Actually speaking of crusades, maybe someone could have gone back and try to uncover the Templar treasure that they tried to hide from King Philip. According to legend it was later lost but if somebody managed to steal it before it was lost then that person would be a rich bugger.

Would explain why historically it was "lost" that bugger stole it and sold it off piece by piece to avoid suspicion.

It looks like food is set on the table. :) Does this mean that everyone (or most) is now in the dining room for dinner and does this mean our host will reveal himself soon?

P.S. Sorry for double posting.

For now though we can just continue dialogue between our two characters. Jonathan seems intrigued enough.

Hah, I actually had a dream last night very similar to this. There was me and some other people somehow in the 1930's before we got taken to the present day. We were then given these handheld device things, which we were told were for travelling through time. Naturally we were also given a list of instructions that, from what I can remember, consisted of the following:
-You may not discuss anything from other time periods, or anything that would reveal you.
-If one or any of you lose your devices then you must terminate yourselves in order to avoid any time travel paradoxes.

I know there was a longer list than that, but the rest has slipped my mind. Anyway, first we ended up in Weimar Germany and then later on we were somewhere else(Canada I think) watching some hockey game that was for some reason inside an Orthodox church. During one point of the game one of the others forwarded time briefly to see who would win. A bit further on we ended up I think in the 1960's and were in some antique shop and somehow remembered much of the stuff that was there due to actually being from the past. It's around here I woke up.
