This RP was conceived on the FB group and as such any of the folks that signed up through my email I offered them will get accepted once they sign up here and I confirm that it is them. However, I am opening it up for new applicants as well since this RP can suit a higher number of characters than I previously thought. Enjoy :)

Dr. Alfred T. Frank was the genius behind our time travel systems. Malcolm Benedict was the revolutionary that turned it into a tourist attraction. Using Frank's system, Benedict was able to create timed, and very expensive, vacations to any point in time. Despite the overwhelming prices, people flocked at the opportunity and Time Travels became the fastest growing company in the world. This was Dr. Frank's intentions for his technology. He wanted history to come alive and for people to find a new passion in the past. However, with every harmless intention, there is a malicious way to destroy it.

Travelers are told to strictly stay out of the limelight. They are only to observe and enjoy. The temptation proved to be too much. People found themselves interrupting or changing iconic events throughout history, thus endangering the stability of the timeline. In response, a task force was created to return to these events and correct them to the best of their abilities. Time Travels was orders to shut down. The military attempted to confiscate the machines, but Benedict had already sold them on the black market and disappeared himself.

Now, while the military continues to search for all 25 unaccounted for machines, the task force uses Dr. Frank's personal machine to monitor time travel and follow Travelers back to stop them from disrupting the timeline. This dedicated team became known as the Time Keepers around the facility and are made up of various skilled agents. Historians, marksmen, multi-linguists, all related talents are welcomed to the Time Keepers. They only have one rule: never alter history.

Important Figures
Dr. Alfred T. Frank
A quirky old scientist, Frank is fascinated by the wonders of the world and all that science has taught us. His greatest achievement and downfall was the SaT (Space and Time) Pad. He thrilled his students with trips to the past, but got greedy when Benedict offered him a large sum to lead a team in manufacturing multiple machines for commercial use. He now oversees the Time Keepers as they travel back in time to help correct his mistakes. He is also working to convert some of the confiscated machines to operate similarly to his personal Pad for the Time Keepers.

Malcolm Benedict
Benedict could make a dollar off a homeless man. He is the king of cons and saw nothing but dollar signs when Dr. Frank announced his SaT Pad. He knew that people would pay any amount to be able to travel any place and time they wanted to go. He convinced Frank to work for him and funded the production of forty Pads. Fifteen of them were confiscated after the military ordered them to shut down. However, Malcolm sold the rest and used one of them to hide in the past. He has become priority one for the Time Keepers, but has managed to evade them so far.

Space and Time (SaT) Pad
The SaT Pad was designed by Dr. Frank to allow users to travel to any time and place in history. Travelling to the future is possible, however extremely dangerous and unpredictable so Dr. Frank specifically left the feature out of the machines. The standard machines only allow one user at a time to be using it and have time trips ranging from one hour to one week. Frank's personal Pad that the Time Keepers use allow up to five at a time to be gone, but it makes the trip unstable and the Travelers will often end up slightly distanced in time and space (this distance is minimal to no more than 1 day and 100 miles apart but is usually less). There is also no pre-scheduled timer set on his machine, but the machine will automatically recall after a month of activity for emergencies. Time Keepers are given recall buttons to return when they please.
Time Keepers
The Mission
Time Keepers were established to maintain the balance of the timeline. Any Traveler, no matter how careful will alter the timeline, but these are merely ripples and usually have no visible effect. The team is less worried about these circumstances and more concerned with major events. The remaining SaT Pads have found themselves in the hands of opportunists. Most are using the machine to take advantage of a certain time and place, usually financially. A few users have taken to more heinous acts such as serial killing, they believe they can get away with it because of their advanced intellect. Some users are even going back to try and stop major events, whether good or bad to shape the world as they see fit. This last example is the priority of Time Keepers as they have the biggest effect on the destabilization of the timeline.

The Team
Time Keepers come from all walks of life and recruits are constantly being added to match the demands of a certain operation. They have even accepted a couple of master thieves to prevent a heist of the Mona Lisa and other valuable pieces. The regulars and majority of the team are historians, soldiers, linguists, medics, and other constantly useful professions. Many have no families, as their assignment is top secret and the danger is unpredictable.

Well, I'm not big on reservations, especially when there aren't designated spots to reserve so it doesn't really matter lol

Just get it up when you can and as long as it meets my standards (which nobody really knows and can depend on my mood) then I'll likely accept it :)

Full Legal Name: Ryan Mark Valcris
Date of Birth: April 4, 1981
Gender: Male
Race: White/Caucasian
Country of Origin: Canada
Fluent Languages: English, French

Professional
Education: Highschool Education + Military courses
Previous Employment (Past 10 years): 3 years as private investigator, 7 years at TacNet Security Solutions (Guard for 4, Assistant Operations Coordinator for 3)
Weapon Training: Yes. (AR-15 variants, and Pistol Training)
Other Notable Talents: Very Analytical, Broad knowledge set (Knows a little about a lot of things. For example, he could load and fire a rifle he had not been trained with, but would not be able to do it very effectively, nor could he fix is if it jammed seriously)

Did fairly well in marksmanship, and close quarter combat training, but his primary weapon is his brain.

Personality Evaluation
List Three (3) Likes: Books, History, anything relating to weapons.
List Three (3) Dislikes: Stubborn people, heat, anything mechanical NOT related to weapons (he is not at all a gear head).

Tell Us About Yourself: Having absolutely no idea what he wanted to do with his life after high school, Ryan joined the military as an intelligence operator. He did fairly well on all his training courses, and placed in the top half of those enrolled in them. He spent five years working for the military, but when his contract came up again for renewal, he decided that the life of a soldier was not for him. The intelligence part he enjoyed, just not the whole 'Sergent barking in your face every hour of the day' aspect of it. After he left, he went through a few years of instability, working as a private investigator, flitting around, doing random bits of work here, there and everywhere, before eventually being taken on by a private security company for logistics and operations planning. Over the course of this rather random selection of careers, he has gained a considerable amount of general knowledge, and gained a reputation in his company for being meticulous in his analytics, and very good at coming up with effective plans on the fly. Something that had helped him greatly on the occasional floor shift where something big actually did happen. He was recruited to the organization for his excellent analytical skills, and his passable front line combat abilities. He might not be the best soldier, but he could come up with tactics to cover for his weaknesses, and complete his objectives with a high degree of efficiency.

Prefered outfit is either black or navy blue cargo pants, combat boots, and a navy blue shirt/tunic with as many pockets as he could possibly have. (He needs them for some of his gear, like ropes, multitools, flashlights, etc.)

The Test

1. Who were the leaders of the countries involved in the Cuban Missile Crisis?
JFK and Castro. I do not know the name of the USSR's leader.
2. True or False? The Musketeers were the elite forces of the Spanish Military in the 1700s.
False
3. What is another word for tired?
Exhausted
4. Solve for X. 4x-2=6
x=2
5. What is the standard issue weapon of American troops during World War II?
M1 Garand
6. Where did the Battle of Normandy take place?
Normandy (Northern France)
7. What is the name of the noble warriors of Japan?
Samurai

Tell Us About Yourself:
My name is Ethan Aldurren, 22 years old and a military officer. In my free time I like to Free Run. This often takes my to places other people can't reach. It's a little harder when carrying a sniper rifle though. Sniping is my speciality.
Oh, and when I'm not working, training (I love to go to the gym) I am probably over at one of the local bars, practicing my other favorite hobby, flirting, and Im quite good at it. I don't like baldness, by myself, I am not bald, but I often wear a hat of any kind to cover my head. I speak a lot of languages and spent studies on reading people by their body language, speech, reactions and reflexes. I am also very good in remembering things, I can remember a lot of things, and very clearly. do you need to know something? I probably know the answer. I have been called to join the Time Guardian Squad because of my many languages (also a bit Japanese lately) and my broad knowledge to aid in preventing the alteration of out time and space. Knowing how to handle a gun and tactual insight along with my military training and free running skills along with the earlier mentioned capabilities makes me a useful asset to the team.

Full Legal Name: Stefan Merzdorf
Date of Birth: May 7th, 1970(age 43)
Gender: Male
Race: Caucasian
Country of Origin: Germany
Fluent Languages: German, English, and solid knowledge of Russian

Professional
Education: University
Previous Employment (Past 10 years): Journalist/historian
Weapon Training: Yes, basic training with Soviet made pistols
Other Notable Talents: Excellent written communication skills

Personality Evaluation
List Three (3) Likes: Historical documents, literature, Relaxing with a cold beer after a long day
List Three (3) Dislikes: Most cops, large crowds, any references to me or my family as "those damned Nazis"
Tell Us About Yourself: I was born in East Berlin at the height of the Cold War to a reformed Nazi officer and his wife. Some of my fondest memories come from my childhood, but so do many of my darkest ones; because of my father's Nazi past the local secret police, the Stasi, made sure to keep close tabs on all my father's activity. While I was enjoying as good of a childhood as any of my peers my father was haunted by both his own past and the constant monitoring he received. He didn't know it at first, but upon its discovery he was driven down the road of paranoia and then eventually to depression. Just days before my 13th birthday my father's body was found in one of the city's alleyways. To this day I am still convinced he took his own life.

The loss of my father took a heavy toll on me, causing withdrawals from the rest of society. Instead of spending time with my peers I instead kept to myself and developed a love of books instead. Hours upon hours I would spend in the local libraries reading whatever literature I could get my hands on(I even taught myself English this way). However, paranoia in my family didn't die with my father. Despite his absence I always felt like my family was still being watched. Through this I developed a form of Scopophobia and paranoia, which still persists to this day. As I aged I took the effort of blacking out my windows and other such measures, much to the dismay of my mother.

In 1989 the wall came down. I was only nineteen at the time, barely an adult and very much inexperienced in life. With little direction and with my mother fleeing to the west I looked back at the one thing I knew best: history. I once again revisited it and began to further study such subjects. I excelled and within a few years I was prepared to live my life. Looking for work, I first landed a job in a small newspaper establishment designed to report on aspects from both the Germanys, which were finally reunited after decades(Being from the East my perspective was sought after.) From there I slowly moved up to bigger jobs and eventually joined the board of a company that overlooks the production of historical publications. Being a historian, again my perspective was sought after.

That job went well for me until I ran into Dr. Frank's work. I quickly fell in love and my focus turned to that. I realized that much of the world I studied and knew so well I only ever saw through the eyes of a child. His work provided me a chance to see my own childhood that had been so bittersweet in a whole new perspective! Not wanting to pass up the opportunity I attempted to seek the man out but before my search hardly began he came to me, trying to recruit my expertise into a project of his own.

The Test
1. Who were the leaders of the countries involved in the Cuban Missile Crisis? USSR- Nikita Khrushchev, United States- JFK, Cuba- Fidel Castro.
2. True or False? The Musketeers were the elite forces of the Spanish Military in the 1700s. False. They were French I do believe.
3. What is another word for tired? Weary, fatigued, drowsy.
4. Solve for X. 4x-2=6 I didn't sign up for this to do math equations I don't know the answer to.
5. What is the standard issue weapon of American troops during World War II? M1 Garand.
6. Where did the Battle of Normandy take place? Is this a trick question? On the beaches of Normandy of course.
7. What is the name of the noble warriors of Japan? Samurai.

Full Legal Name: Melinda Anne Reynolds
Date of Birth: January 3, 1985 (Age 29)
Gender: Female
Race: White/Caucasian
Country of Origin: United States
Fluent Languages: English, German

Professional
Education: Ph.D
Previous Employment (Past 10 years): Student, until three years ago when I graduated with a Ph.D and was hired by a university.
Weapon Training: A very basic understanding of small-caliber firearms, as I shoot recreationally. My father introduced me to the sport of competitive shooting when I was still in high school.
Other Notable Talents: I consider myself to be a well-spoken individual. I hope this does not come across as malicious, but I do have a way of making people listen to me. Perhaps it is my soft nature, or the way I can make a person feel as though I can truly relate to them, but I am quite persuasive when I need to be. Simply put, I am likable. That has served me well in the past. Something that may come as less of a surprise is my seemingly endless supply of historical facts. I generally use them to impress students and colleagues, but I can see how they might be useful in this line of work.

Personality Evaluation
List Three (3) Likes: People, jokes, historically-accurate romance novels.
List Three (3) Dislikes: Ignorance, cruelty (in any form), anything superficial.
Tell Us About Yourself: Truth be told, my childhood was quite average. My family consisted of my father, my mother, and myself. I would consider us upper-middle class, as money was never a problem, but I was still taught the value of hard work. My parents, my father especially, also emphasized the importance of helping others, a lesson that has had an enormous impact on the way that I choose to live my life. I did a bit of everything in high school, from theatre to track and field. I thought being well-rounded would help me get into an ivy-league school, though I did not know what it was that I would study there.

Everything changed when my father died suddenly in 2002. He was struck by a drunk driver on his way home from the office. My mother, an only-only child like my father and I, had no one to grieve with but her own elderly parents. I volunteered to take a year off after graduation, but my mother insisted I go to college immediately, as it would have been what my father wanted. Despite my acceptance to Yale, I chose instead to attend Michigan State University. It was closer to home, and it was my father’s alma mater. There, I drifted for a while, my major undecided. It was not until my second semester that I took my first history class, HST 201. It introduced me to the subject in a way my high school classes never had. I fell in love immediately, and decided that I wanted to help other students find joy in history the way that I did. I enrolled in the College of Education, and even in my senior year, I thought that I would be a high school teacher. But my love for researching finally won out, and I chose to pursue an advanced degree. I completed my degree a few years ago, and I wrote my dissertation on the rehabilitation of boys orphaned during the Holocaust. It was quite a change from my usual love of American history, but I was captivated by the stories the survivors told.

Recently, I found out about Dr. Frank’s work through a friend. Truth be told, I do not think I would find great enjoyment in traveling just for the fun of it. Granted, it would be incredibly interesting, but I would have a difficult time studying it. As a historian, it is essential that I see the big picture. I need to be able to “zoom in and zoom out” on certain aspects of a period. I fear being completely immersed in the history would make this nearly impossible, as I would spend more time running from raptors or avoiding being convicted as a witch than making observations. However, I would be honored to join the team, as the dangers of changing the past are incredibly apparent to me. Should my application be accepted, I would not be opposed to taking a leave of absence from the university. I hope that this has answered all of your questions.

The Test
1. Who were the leaders of the countries involved in the Cuban Missile Crisis?
John F. Kennedy, Fidel Castro, and Nikita Khrushchev
2. True or False? The Musketeers were the elite forces of the Spanish Military in the 1700s.
False. “Musketeer” can refer to any infantry soldier with a musket. Certainly, the Spanish used them, but I would said the French Musketeers are the most renowned.
3. What is another word for tired?
Exhausted.
4. Solve for X. 4x-2=6
4x-2=6
+2 +2
4x=8
/4 /4
x=2
I think that is correct. I apologize if it is not - it has been a long while since I have taken a math class.

5. What is the standard issue weapon of American troops during World War II?
M1 Garand
6. Where did the Battle of Normandy take place?
Normandy. Are you looking for a more specific answer?
7. What is the name of the noble warriors of Japan?
Samurai.

I recycled her from a book I recently wrote. The young professor hasn't seen a roleplay before, and I thought this would fit her nicely.
And I think our characters could find each other interesting, based on her area of study and his background.
Though I must confess - the topic of her dissertation was actually the topic of my own senior research. I cheated and recycled that as well.
