Thedas smiled to that, "because I know some of the hardships they have faced. Some of the failures some of the success and a lot of other things I have learned on my travels and as a slave. I'm not good with politics but I'm good with people, you ask me how they think just by there body language or just by how they look and I can give you a lot off of it."
Lauralye smiled and nodded, "Exactly."
She released him and moved so that she could sit next to him and look at him. She sat up at little and tucked her legs under herself, "What can you get from me?"

Thedas frowned, as he let his eyes go over her figure. "That you've had a lot of hard ships you got that look in your eye saying you haven't been anywhere much. That you are kind and gentle to those you care about and that you are not demanding."
Lauralye smiled a little before laughing, "I'm not sure if you are getting that from me or what you know from me but," She nodded her head, "I like to think that that's all true."
She leaned against him and pushed some hair off her neck, revealing a small scar behind her ear, "I don't want scars like you do... But I have a few... This one was from when I was ten. A few men climbed into my bedroom window one night and tried to steal me away... When my guards burst in through the door. The men held a sword to my neck before a guard shot him with an arrow... I guess I got nicked when the man died," She shivered a little at the thought as she released her hair, "It was the first time I had been that close to someone dying..."

Thedas frowned as she told him how she got it, he ran his thumb over it before she moved her hair back. He sighed, as he rested his chin on her shoulder. Putting his arms around her, and pulling her against him.
Lauralye smiled a little when Thedas wrapped his arms around her and pulled her close. She swung her legs around and placed them in his lap as she leaned into him. She rested her head on his shoulder, "I have another on my ribs... I was fourteen and a rogue had pretended to be a guard... walked right into my bathroom and tried to stab me... Luckily, I thought it was one of my maids in waiting and turned when I heard the footsteps and the blade just grazed passed my ribs... Even better that I was preparing for a bath, I screamed so loud from embarrassment of being seen in such a state by a man who was not my husband... One of my maids came in running and knocked the man out cold and had me decent before the guards were even at my door."
She kissed his cheek, "I used to be so scared of those things... Now, not so much. Not with you."

Thedas chuckled at the end of it, he felt his face heat up. "Well I guess I am your knight in shining armor no matter how much my body is battered and beaten." He said it with a small smile, he could get through the memories more easily now since he had shared them most of that weight had gotten lifted off of his shoulders.
Lauralye looked over at his armor that was piled next to the couch from the night before, "It doesn't look too shiny," She teased. She ran a finger over one of his scars, "Trials," She said, "For us to be together... You can't have someone who makes you as happy as you do me without some hardships as payment. We've earned each other."
She moved to sit in his lap and looked at him, "And don't let anyone tell you otherwise."

Thedas smiled, "I won't I promise you that princess I won't and plus the armors soaked in blood of course it's not shiny anymore I gotta get me a new set since the chest plate is now ruined from that sword going into my stomach."
Lauralye grinned, "That means you can't go out and battle... Not until your new chest piece is made at least," She ran a finger along his chest, "Which means that you'll have to stay with me."
She leaned into kiss him when the door suddenly opened. She jumped a little and suddenly became very aware of her sheer dress. The guard's eyes widened at the sight of them and quickly closed his eyes and covered with one hand. Lauralye stood and quickly grabbed her housecoat. She pulled the green material around herself and tied it behind her back. She cleared her throat and the guard slowly lowered his hand, ensuring that the Queen was decent. He looked to Robert, clearly to embarrassed to look at Lauralye, "Your cousin wishes an audience."

Thedas nodded, trying to hide the smirk that threatened to come onto his lips. "Alright you are dismissed," with that the guard closed the door once closed Thedas burst ex out laughing. Once calmed he pulled his shirt on, then the old leather jacket he hadn't worn in awhile.
Lauralye looked at Robert when he started to laugh and smacked him lightly, "You find it funny that he walked in on us like that?!"
It was then that Lauralye truly realized how different their ideas of right and wrong were. She smirked, "I ought to send you to etiquette class," She pulled the opaque cloth closer to her, "Good thing for you is that I'm embarrassed enough for the both of us."
She walked into her closet and walked out a moment later in a simple gown. Something to be worn around when they weren't entertaining anyone but still fit for Royalty.

Thedas only grinned, "your talking to a former slave who hasn't laughed like this in years so don't get on me about that." With that he walked out to the main throne room, "I am glad to see you alive cousin it seems that lauralye is alive and that I have to step down I presume?"
Lauralye pouted at him, "I will! You are laughing at the expense of my decency," She smirked at him, "I suppose I will just to be more decent around you... Who knows when someone is going to barge in," She teased.
She walked into the throne with him and curtsied to his cousin. She smiled at him, "That would be the preferred option... Of course, you could try to hold the throne but I must warn you the last man to do that is currently in our dungeon," She walked over to his cousin and took his hand before curtsying again and kissing his fingers, "But I must thank you for taking care of my kingdom in my... absence. You are more than welcome to visit whenever you like."

Connor smiled to that, "of course my Queen though I was doing it on one of the favors I owed my cousin." He glanced over at Thedas, before he stood up. Bowing slightly and leaving the seat for her to take.
Lauralye was glad that Connor was willing to give up the throne so swiftly. Not every man would be... Even the best and kindest of men could be seduced to something evil when sitting upon the throne. She took the seat and smiled at Connor, "What you really must do is promise to return and teach your dear cousin some etiquette," She grinned at Thedas, "I love him dearly but he has things to learn," She teased before patting the sear of the throne next to her, "Come... Sit with me, love."

Thedas and Conner chuckled to that, "well Thedas does know some but he rather use it outside the bedroom than inside really you get to know the man better behind a closed door than you do in the outside world." Thedas only smiled to that oh how true his cousin was.
With that he started climbing the steps, taking the throne beside her. A small sigh escaped him, king he was going to be king. From a former slave to a knight to a king it wasn't really that awkward in a way.
Lauralye laughed a little and watched as Robert walked up the stairs and sat beside her. She clasped his hands before speaking to him quietly, "I love you... Even if you do laugh when we are caught in compromising positions by guards."
She kissed his cheek, "But surely you could get a little mad about someone seeing your to be wife like that," She teased, "I'm pure. Only one man has seen me naked and he is in our dungeons for treason for attempted murder."
She rose one of his hands to her mouth and kissed it before nipping at it gently. She rose her voice then so that Connor could also hear her, "Well, I haven't a clue how to thank you for all that you've done... Even if it was just a favor to... Thedas."

Connor shook his head, "no reason to repay me Thedas just needed someone to rule the country for awhile and that's all." With that Connor walked out, Thedas smiled to her words. "Alright maybe I was a little mad but hey he's a guard he didn't know really so can you blame him?"
Lauralye chuckled a little at him, "See, that is all I needed. I want you to want to be the only man who will ever see me like that... Of course... You'll be apart of it... Rather than covering your eyes at the door," She laughed a little and stood, "We should go back to the room... I was quite enjoying our morning before we were interrupted and I don't believe we are needed at the moment... Although, we'll lock the door this time."
