In this timeline the Ironborn are actually one of the strongest factions so of course you can! :)

Curious on how this is going to go.

Well, the general idea is the lands are a tinderbox and waiting for a kind of spark to go crazy. One idea is to have an artifact such as a parchment detailing a contract with Essos, etc, etc.

No I'm curious hows it gonna fill out since we all are gonna want characters from different kingdoms. So I'm wondering how that's going to factor into everything.

Ohhhhh yea, and as far as characters from different countries. I personally will be playing quite a few characters, it's going to be a bit freeform with events and such controlled by me to keep everyone together and doing the same thing. :)

Silly question: Is the basic knowledge of the books needed for this??

Honestly if you make an effort to simply learn from the wiki, myself, or other game of thrones nutcases I don't have a problem. It's pretty straight forward honestly but you will need to read the background of the war of five Kings, and the different Kingdoms in the map posted.
