Majin Buu is dead.
A threat thousands of years old, known of across worlds innumerable has been vanquished on a planet many have never heard of. Stories and recollections of foes defeated on the very same world snake their way across the galaxies, a collective hushed whispers of creatures and villains who met their fate at the hands of the Earthlings. People of all races huddle in their homes as a vast empire collapses in on itself and think to themselves “Lord Frieza conquered almost all of the universe, but he couldn’t conquer earth.” Rumors abound of beings powerful beyond comprehension, a creature called Cell and the Legendary Super Saiyan, both of whom were extinguished upon Terran soil. If villains such as these could be defeated by the likes of the Earthlings, it seemed unlikely that there was any safer place in the cosmos. The universe turns curious eyes on a lonely blue pebble in the Sol system. Some seek a new start. Some seek opportunity. Some seek to train with the Earthlings, to attain powers untold. Many simply wish to live in peace away from the war torn empire Frieza left in his wake. Beings from across the stars travel to earth in droves. Refugees of ruined worlds, people looking for a safe place for their family, soldiers who have deserted the cause of whichever warlord they lined up behind after the power vacuum left by Frieza’s death created so many new conflicts.
The earth has changed. Species from all over have planted themselves here. They have become a constant of life, perhaps a nuisance in some eyes. The Saiyan gene has dwindled and diluted, but it will never die. The Saiyans are near equal in number to the humans, and they too have integrated themselves into Terran society, some would say for the better. Others would disagree. Two schools of thought rise among the Saiyan inhabitants of earth. Though friends in their later lives, Son Goku and Prince Vegeta have left two very different legacies behind. Those who follow the teachings of Son Goku preach peace and tolerance, training constantly in the event that someone might threaten those values. The current guardian of earth subscribes to this way of thinking. Those who follow their revered prince, however, are not quite as docile. They call themselves the True Sons, though it is doubtful that any descendant of Vegeta still lives. They live in separate, almost tribal groups, paying tribute to one king. It is the will of the True Sons to return the Saiyan race to its former glory, as the most powerful species in the universe. While the guardian keeps one sharp eye on the True Sons, the self-proclaimed king of Saiyans gathers support, uniting the tribes that would see a true Saiyan world and destroying those that would refuse to stand behind him. He has but one goal; to obtain the Dragon Balls and make his dream a reality.
Tensions run high on both sides, but neither sees the threats looming just beyond their solar system. From the ashes of Frieza’s empire rises a new warlord who sees earth as no more than another world to be added to his collection. He knows the dangers posed by the earthlings, but he is ready to deal with them. Hidden just out of sight of the earthlings, his invasion fleet waits to strike. Still, greater mysteries exist in the universe. Namekians are disappearing by the thousands. Entire worlds are finding that their Namekian populations are dwindling, some vanishing all together. It is a quiet, unvoiced fear that permeates the galaxies. Many wonder where the Namekians are going, but few are brave enough to investigate. Fewer still realize what dangers lay on the horizon. For nearly a thousand years, earth has been a hub of the universe, a melting pot, the safest of havens. In less than a year, earth’s status as a gem in the sand will disappear.

[[Whelp, that's that as far as the intro goes. Basically this is an RP that takes place ~1000 years after the end of Dragon Ball Z, where Saiyans and humans are now almost equal in number. (Don't tell me they couldn't outbreed humans in a thousand years, I already know.) Now I don't really remember, but I'm pretty sure Goku leaves at the end. For the sake of the RP, let's just say he doesn't. Instead, he stays behind and becomes a trainer. Vegeta does the same, though they of course have very different methods of teaching. As a result, we get two separate philosophies that eventually grow into two of the most powerful factions on the planet. I'd like the main focus of the story to be the brewing war between the two Saiyan factions, but I'm open to other ideas. There's also some Frieza wannabe space warlord and other stuff I'm working on as well. There's going to be a human faction that sees the Saiyans as a threat to humanity's place on the food chain, as well as a group of powerful Namekians attempting to fuse together as many Namekians as possible in order to create one super... Namekian.
Anyway, here's a list of factions. If you come up with any other ones let me know and I'll add them up here. I'm still working on them and I just got off work, so I'm a bit burned out. Bear with me on that.]]
After the rather... public clash between Majin Buu and the Z Fighters, millions of people across the world learned that they could be something so much more than human. They saw these seemingly normal people who were somehow able to stand up against the might of the being that destroyed their world, when even their mighty Hurcule couldn't save them. In a very short time, would-be martial artists the world over began throwing themselves at trainers, begging to be shown the things they never dreamed possible.
One of these trainers was none other than Son Goku himself. With no more threats facing his home, Goku sought to teach as many people as possible. He knew there would come a time when he wasn't around to protect the earth, and he thought the people of earth should be able to defend themselves when that day came.
After nearly a millennium, Goku's teachings have become not only a very important part of human history, but a moral code for the hundreds of thousands of Saiyans who would follow them in the years to come. The Disciples grew from a small group of mostly Saiyans over half a century after Goku's death. They sought not just to learn his techniques, but to adopt his (relatively) peaceful lifestyle and attempt to bring peace where there was chaos. As their numbers grew, the Disciples became the protectors Son Goku had envisioned, as well as the de-facto rulers of the earth. Though they hold no ties to any government, they act as a peacekeeping force during times of war and political strife.
Some five hundred years after Goku's passing, the leader of the Disciples at the time became the Guardian of Earth, watching over the planet from atop Kami's Lookout. As time continued, it became something of a tradition for the Disciples to wear the mantle of Guardian. They defend the earth, safeguard the Dragon Balls, and, if necessary, they destroy any who would seek to fracture the peace that they have worked so hard to create...
Where there is peace, there must one day be chaos. While the Disciples of Son Goku were busy building up their order and strengthening the union between humanity and the Saiyans, others sought to take advantage of them. The Saiyans are a powerful race, and they are very aware of that fact. Perhaps some of them wished to mingle with their human counterparts, but for every earth-loving Saiyan, there were three more who recalled the stories told by their Prince while he still lived. He spoke of the fear stricken into the hearts of all who went against his people, the very same fear that became their downfall at the hands of Lord Frieza. It was an unfathomable power their ancestors possessed, and they squandered it in service to a tyrant.
The Trueborn would be slaves to no one.
It quickly became evident to the Disciples that there were Saiyans out there who saw humans as nothing more than ants to be stepped on. They were dealt with as mercifully as possible, at first. It was only when these violent Saiyans began rallying behind a man they called their king, that the Disciples saw what true horrors awaited them. These Saiyans called themselves the Trueborn, and they claimed allegiance to one who believed himself to be a descendant of the great Prince Vegeta. As their numbers grew, so too did the volume of their call: "We are the True Sons of planet Vegeta, and the time of the Saiyans has come again."
Their teachings were extreme, their followers, fanatical. They heard the tales of their prince, ached to live in an age where Saiyans were respected and feared for the gods they were. But there was one thing the Saiyans didn't have, not truly; a world to call their own. And a world shared with the humans was not a Saiyan world. Cities fell by the thousands, and as their numbers grew, the Disciples began to fear that they wouldn't be able to stop the extermination of the human race.
The Disciples allied themselves with the dozens of human resistance groups that propped themselves up and limped into battle against the Trueborn. Battle after battle, the Trueborn annihilated them, slaughtered the survivors without quarter. The would be king of Saiyans grew closer to victory every day. But the True Sons were an order based around power and power alone. The king was strong, but so were his kinsmen, so were the hundreds of others who desired to wear a crown upon their head. It was only a matter of time before betrayal put an end to the war. The king was dead, and many Trueborn would bow to the new one. Many, but not all. As time went on, the True Sons splintered into a dozen warring factions, each seeking to rule the order that none of them even realized had already collapsed. In the end, there was no great battle for the fate of the earth, no mighty clash between the Disciples and the Trueborn, because the Trueborn had defeated themselves.
Hundreds of years later, the True Sons still live in contention with one another. Though their collective ambition to wipe out the humans has faded, they still shun those they view as weak, living separately from humans and any Saiyan foolish enough to fraternize with them. A new king has arisen, but only a few tribes see him as their true ruler.
If the Saiyans are to truly rise to their former glory, that is going to have to change.
Earth is no longer a human world. In the time since the death of Majin Buu, the Saiyans have grown to almost outnumber the humans. Science and logic would dictate that the Saiyan gene should eventually die out, but with every new generation, it remains resilient to the withering of time.
If the Saiyans had had their way all those years ago, humanity would be nothing more than a memory. Even today, the threat of annihilation is fresh on some peoples' minds. After all, It was only a few generations ago that the Trueborn attempted to exterminate the human race. It's not beyond them to try it again.
Enter Humanity Front. They formed during the Saiyan civil war as one of the many, many human resistance groups fighting against the True Sons. Initially allied with the Disciples, the leaders of the two factions eventually had a falling out. This weakened both Humanity Front's tactical position as well as their reputation. They soon set out to take on the Trueborn alone, finding that their human fighters just couldn't compete with the veteran Saiyan troops.
Even so, as entire cities fell to the True Sons, Humanity Front's numbers swelled. By the end of the war, they numbered in the tens of thousands, and no Humanity Front member was ready to forgive the Trueborn just yet. They continued to press the True Sons, destroying any village small enough for them to handle. Though sworn enemies with the Trueborn by this point, the Disciples recognized these attacks as an affront to peace and set out to stop them. It is an alliance rarely spoken of, the Disciples and the True Sons. They fought together, eventually pushing Humanity Front out of all True Sons controlled territories.
But the fire burns on. The Saiyans have over stayed their welcome and it is high time mankind took earth back. After centuries, Humanity Front has developed a hatred for all Saiyans, not just those under the banner of the True Sons. Weak, small, and scattered they may be, but Humanity Front are excellent guerilla warriors. Few people are strong enough to take on any one Saiyan alone, but the threat of death does not deter them. For Humanity Front, sharing the earth with the Saiyans is akin to resigning themselves to extinction. A fate far worse than death in the eyes of the fanatical racists that now make up Humanity Front.

[[As far as rules go, just bet on your standard RP stuff. Don't be overpowered (might be a bit tough with this one, but do your best,) don't do anything drastic with other people's characters, the works. I've never really been one for character limits, so as long as you don't have an entire legion of somehow important side characters it's fair game. I think the biggest thing is just try to keep posts over like two or three paragraphs minimum
Just to let you know Goku does leave the main group at the end of DBZ to train with Uub(The reincarnation of Kid Buu)for three years but he never actually leaves Earth so your idea fits fine with the official story. Also if you were talking about GT(which I haven't seen)then that doesn't really matter because GT isn't canon. I do have a question to help establish a baseline so our characters aren't op. What kind of range do you want the characters to be in. Do you want us to be below where a super Saiyan would be? Dragon Ball and DBZ have many milestones for character power that you could use as a baseline.
Things you should probably add to the character sheet:
Appearance; kinda gotta have some idea what everyone's character looks like, yeah? Even amongst like species there are variations in looks/builds etc.
Skills/Abilities; while it will go without saying that everyone in this will have some level of Ki-based prowess, it helps, especially in a DBZ RP, to establish what sort of techniques, skills and transformations they've achieved/developed/mastered, rather than pulling things completely out of thin air (IE, a character just suddenly doing an at-will SSJ transformation in the middle of a fight).
And yeah, I must echo the above post in that there should be a starting cap on power ranges. I'd personally suggest defining PLs similarly to the way it's been set up from the DB Multiverse fan series: http://dragonballmultiverse.wikia.com/wiki/Power_Levels
Basically just setting ranges of comparable PLs, within which all included characters are considered even in terms of their sheer power.
I agree with him, his suggested changes seem pertinent.
I would also prefer it if we kept power levels low (to start). If anything the Z Fighters should be outliers. Keeping things around late Dragon Ball at the highest would be best (think around Goku vs Junior at the Martial Arts tournament). That's about around the point when stuff was still easy to follow and measure.
There seems to be a whole, Saiyan pride thing going on, ya? But, aren't all Saiyans at this point half-breeds at very best?
I was thinking about a True Son character whose plan is to gather dragonballs and wish that all Saiyan half-breeds who wish to can become full-blooded Saiyans, remaking the racial purity of their race.

I imagine that would be general idea. I don't think there would even be half Saiyans left floating around a millennium after the series, though one could argue that the nature of the Saiyans' work for Frieza might have allowed for splintered colonies of pure-bloods to take root and grow on the unchecked fringes of the Planet Trade's empire, which would allow for some pure-blood to persist over the centuries.

Okay, that's perfect then. I'm going to agree with everyone else and say characters should be late Dragon Ball/early DBZ powerful. Like maybe Krillin level or something. The Saiyan king and probably the Guardian are going to be Super Saiyans, but they aren't going to be doing much for a while.

As for them being half-breeds, I sorta shoehorned it into the intro that the Saiyan gene is strong. Kinda just suspending disbelief on that one. If you wanna get real technical, they aren't even really the same race anymore.
I'm gonna start working on my first post now, I'll try to get it up tonight.
The picture is of a custom character from Xenoverse that was created using the games character creator. That particular custom character has been shown in various trailers for the game. I figured since he isn't actually a named character it would be fine to use him.
Edit: I decided to change my characters faction to independent though he will likley join the Disciples at some point.
