I wasn't planning on making another, I'd rather focus on one character, until, if he does die or become stale. As I very much do like this particular archetypal character and think the interaction will be interesting indeed.

Yeah, I know they're not actually kids. xD. They just act like it sometimes. lol. Yeah, Kassy will be 11 if I ever add her in, so that's pretty young. I do have a problem holding her age though, as she always acts as the most mature character in the RP most of the time. If you end up making a young character, I'll be able to play her off of yours to help keep her age intact, xD Okay. *Nudges* I didn' do dat. Did I really say Tyoko instead of Tokyo? Dang nabbit. No, I meant Tokyo. Since I don't actually know what Tokyo looks like... a fictional version of the city would probably work best, with fictional locations and such. Yeah, if you don't make another character Unraveller, that's no problem. Most people only make one. I do encourage (Though do not enforce) multiple characters though, as it makes RPing a lot easier. Especially if you work them off of each other, or if they're in different locations, you have a lot more chances to actually post.

I see what you're saying, about more characters, I'm simply not sure I'm ready for that. So I think I'll stick with one, I don't mind really.

Yeah, of course! I have no problem with just one. I Just suggest it to everyone. There are plenty of people that only have one, as it can make your character more important. I know a few people that make so many characters, that each one is a clone of the other, but with X hair, and X name. If you start with one, you can always make more later! Most of the time they'll sneak up on you as an NPC, then your'll take over and start running with it! Those are the best characters. NPCs.

Great NPCs can really make a difference in tons of situations, I'm hoping that there will be more than a few that we can all fall in love with. So, you know that I am new to forum role playing, do you think you could give me some do's and dont's? Perhaps etiquette wise, or whatever you see fit.

Of course! Anything you post I'll give tips to, and anything we throw out I'll point out to you. There aren't a lot of do's and don'ts though. One of them is in serious RPs, don't spam your posts with tons of fonts and colors. Pretend you are writing a story, and write consistently in first person, third person, or god view. Which ever you prefer. You can change them between posts, and it's alright if you make mistakes (I will start out 3rd, and move into 1st by mistake. I'm used to writing 1st most of the time), as long as it's still readable. Also, it's not anyone's standard, but some of us have a few formats set that we use, but other's are free to change it up. A few simple posts might go like this, try to pick out as much as you can. Teknonick's Post [Naoto] I walk up to the counter, slamming my fist into it. "Waiter! Get me a couple o' your finest drinks!" I yelled out to the man behind the counter. This bar is a dump! I've got to remember not to come here ever again. ((That right there was a 'thought'. People do this differently, but Ragna and I are from an RP where we generally just use italics.)) "Waiter!" I yelled at the top of my lungs, waiting for him to return. Once he stood up again, he slid the drink down the counter. I caught it, and drank it down as quickly as I could. I tossed him a few coins, and nodded with a smile. "Thanks." Some Admin's Post <Naoto>: After you toss your coins, you decide to get up and leave ((This is Powerplaying right here. It's okay by some's standards, especially since he's an admin, but we try to avoid big actions like this unless we're moving things along.)) as quickly as you came. You notice on your way out some old lady in the corner being harassed by a bunch of adventurer's with owl products, and trying to force her to work for them. Somewhere else in the room, a goblin is playing some sort of music box. After you exit the tavern, a dragon appears! Dangit's Post [Humble Hero] I charge at the dragon, leaping into the air and slice at it, killing it in one blow! ((Godmodding! First: The admin didn't explain where the Dragon was. That's a problem on his part, but there should have at least been an OOC discussion about where he was to clarify. Second: Killing an NPC INSTANTLY, no. Especially since it was a Dragon! If it was a little goblin... depending on the RP... maybe. Third: This was an event given to another player specifically. If they wanted to, they should have jumped in and observedfirst. Fourth: If the admin had specifically pointed (I use <> to point, [] for 1st/3rd person) to all the players in the area, or those two player specifically, this would have been less of a problem. This post was so bad, I would instantly redact it (Tell them to remove it), and give them a HUGE warning for doing all that. If they've done it before, I would ban them at that point.)) There's a lot of things to learn, and everyone's styles are different. Completely different sometimes! I personally don't use Bold, ever. I use Italics for thoughts, or emphases on a single word (Or remove the italics, if it's a thought.) I use [] for personal character control, {} for NPC control, and <> for event controlling. You don't have to follow any of that, it's just what I go by. It also helps to add the [] so other's know who you are if you never mention your character's name in a post, or if you post with multiple characters, and want to specify who you're RPing as at the time, or from who's perspective (If you want a specific one, as opposed to the group's perspective.) It's also important to make sure you specify actual actions, versus thoughts. If your character says something, it should be obvious who heard him. If he wants to hit something, it should be obvious whether he wantsto hit something, if he's goingto hit something, or if he didhit something. Another good thing, is responding to a whole post! If someone (Such as an event admin) posts something, you don't have to respond to just what they said, or the very end of the post. It's also nice (But hard to do, even for expert players) to make your ENTIRE POST filled with options for other players. It's nice when you post something so big, that it's fun to read, but also gives other player's reasons to post and respond to it. I used to RP with this one guy, and we ended up being the only ones in the RP... but we ended up with massive posts, and responding to the entire post every time. We gave options like "Ready to smash the other one's head in!" and "Was about to say 'Blah blah blah'", which let's the other player decide whether or not your character had the chance to actually do those actions, or get interrupted. Things like that made it waaay more fun to RP, as we were always going back and forth, and it worked out more realistically! Instead of one character speaking, then standing still as the other's responded in their turn. Anyway, that's my tips! I'll throw you better one's once we start, since I'll be able to point things out better once I understand how you post and the such.

Well, wow. Really I wasn't expecting such a large amount of little things that I must be keen on. I feel slightly intimidated, thank you very much for taking the time to write all of that out for me. I promise, I'll try my very hardest here! I really hope I don't let you down!

Sadly, unless we get more people. This thread'll turn into a class on how to RP and nothing more. Alright, I've planned my child character. I'm stuck in school right now on my phone, but once I'm done here and back on my computer I'll make that character. I don't think it's possible for me to get disappointed really. So long as you understand writing, and know how to keep things realistic, the small intricacies are a piece of cake. I only get disappointed when grammar or sentence structure is real wonky.

Holy cow, I didn't expect that post to end up that big! I just now noticed! Holy cow! Yeah, we're not expecting you to be perfect, or take in everything. If you do, your'll just be one of those dudes we remember for a long time! And besides, you get better as you continue on. It doesn't happen all in one day.

I'd say on average, it takes about 3-4 days before an interest check takes off and becomes a full-fledged RP. Though, it always helps when you're popular enough on the forums that people see your username and instantly just want to join. RPers really have to look out for each other. We are a dying breed. If you don't help the newcomers, then how are we supposed to have the website grow? The only way to get others to notice is through bumping this up with posts.

I think they remove the thread if it's obvious that you're spamming, or you've been bumping for too long. Btw, I'm home now, so let the application creation process commence.

Username: RawrgnatheBloodfridge | Character's Name: Minami Shiroka | Character's Age: 11 | Character Gender: Female Appearance:
Minami has orange dyed hair, with her natural hair color being a raven black. She normally keeps her hair in a twin-tails look with big clips to hold them there. Minami is 4'8" tall, and has an almost orange glow in her light brown colored eyes. She normally likes to wear the color yellow or roange to complement her hair and eye colors. Though, rarely she'll go as far as to wear brown on occasions. She wears a yellow dress shirt, and orange capris when not attending school. Fourth Dimensional Power: Smell. Really sucks when that fourth dimensional toe jam comes into effect. Has not earned all of her powers yet. Bio: Minami is a recent runaway. Her parents were neglectful with a step-father and mother, and had no friends in school due to the fact that she was more reserved than others, as well as constantly being teased over what she wore and what she's done. She got fed up with it all, and figured that her chances of surviving in the city weren't all that bad. Only three weeks into her runaway plan from Osaka, she finally got to Tokyo, the city of dreams, as she was told. There, she would be able to survive amongst the countless amounts of other homeless people strewn about the slums. Minami was always ridiculed for being "too nice, and too trusting." Minami never once deserved the hate she recieved, it made her that much more tempted to escape from Osaka. Minami always attempted to be as kind as possible in the face of her aggressors, not giving in until the day she snapped and ran away. She had an extreme amount of perseverance, always pushing for her dreams no matter how impossible they seemed. Her power, that she inherited from her biological father, always came in handy for her when helping her mother to cook. Though, her life took a downhill turn once her father died and a step-dad took his place. The man constantly smoked, and would verbally abuse her and her mother. Eventually, Minami's mom stopped caring about her, and so did her father. Minami's only friends moved out prior to all of this, and then she experienced an entirely new feeling. Loneliness. Never before had she ever felt alone. It scared Minami to no end, being persecuted, alone, and sad. There was no place for her in her home town, and decided that Tokyo would accept her better than this place had. She would have to learn how to scrounge for food, and sift through the dirty rivers for water. Her personality always stayed positive, however. She knew that braving the tough world be better than being alone until the day that she died. Minami had that amount of common sense at the least. Now in the prophetic city she was told about, her only wonder was what she needed to do now to find friends.

I personally feel that the option of having all of the powers unlocked from the beginning would be pretty OP. Considering that it's likely they already know how to use all of their powers, it would feel like giving too much of an advantage. I'm all for limiting to a maximum of two powers at the start though, like Unraveller's character. Especially since he picked two of the weaker powers as well. A good example would be like if in DnD, I had a sorcerer that not only had a mastery in pyromancy, but also necromancy, and allomancy right from the start. It gets rid of that sense of accomplishment you recieve from building that character up and unlocking those other mastery's with everyone else.

Yeah. Well, we're not actuallyspamming, we're just going back and forth with important and helpful information. Other than the chatty part about going back and forth and spamming to get more interest. Accepted character! Nice job. Alas, Kassy is not as interesting of a character as your's is. I think I need to change up her appearance, but that's where I lack in skill the most. Do you have any ideas for a new looks for her? You know, she's that one Enderman from HBRP on the MCForums. Yeah, I'll remove the OP part. Everyone only has one ability though. Unraveller's character having two means he's already started to unlock his other abilities, but yes, I see what you mean. I'll lock it at two max, as that's a good idea. I simply didn't set a limit since that might help get people to make different characters... but now that I think about it, the don't need that kind of help. Let them suffer through the pain! We should start a DnD RP sometime. Get a few people, and tell them they can't leave. Then make it an actual DnD session, where we get together at certain times, and all post together at the same time, and draw maps, and pull out DnD rulebooks and such. And stats! I love stats. I hate numbers, but I love numbers.

So we officially only need two more people now, right? I don't know if you can force people to not leave their computers unless somehow you cast some spell of binding on them or something.

I feel like you'd be driving a white van, on either side is a poorly spray-painted, "Free RP" I shudder thinking about it.
