Welcome to The Walking Dead - When the Dead Have Risen. An RP based off of the series, The Walking Dead.
In this RP, you will be traveling in a group of survivors. The RP will start off with the group thriving at a secluded camp a few weeks into the outbreak (much like season 1 and 2) until it becomes discovered and overrun by walkers. The initial motive will be to find other survivors and search for a cure but may later change to survival and defence from other human rivals. The RP will take place in Georgia.
As of the current, I am GM and I have appointed Caits as CO GM. This is subject to change.
All characters must be approved by GM.
The group has 3/10 spots available. If all spots are taken and you still wish to be involved, your character can wander around individually until they encounter the group later on. Perhaps conflict with arise. Hmm.
1.) Don’t be an asshole. Simple as that. Whether it be in the IC or OOC, just try your best to be polite to everyone. And if you feel the need to correct someone or object to a decision/statement, please be polite about it. A mature discussion is far more beneficial than spitting rude comments at each other.
2.) Keep it realistic. Please. Sure, a zombie apocalypse is the last thing you think of when the word “realistic” comes to mind but I’m sure you know what I mean. This includes no god-moding or anything of that nature. Make sure your characters are realistic as well as your abilities.
3.) I would like big decisions/events to be decided by a dice or a randomized system. Such as if a character will survive, how they handle a situation, if the group will encounter a horde at a certain time, how a character will react to an event, etc. At the moment, I have no other means of doing this besides pickatrandom.com and I understand that is not a reliable means as I cannot show all of you what it had chosen, I can only tell you. If anyone has any other means of doing this that allows all participants of RP to view the results, please tell me.
4.) If you wish to leave the RP, please inform us in the OOC. That way we won’t be waiting around for you to post and we can decide what to do with your character
5.) If your character happens to die, you are entitled to create another one and incorporation them into the RP somehow. However, I would like everyone to just control one character at a time.
6.) There are really no boundaries when it comes to explicit content. Gore, swearing, sexual content, all that good stuff is permitted. Just keep a reign on it. I don’t really want to see your character going on a killing rampage just for the sake of blood splattering everywhere, your character throwing around f bombs like confetti on the fourth of July just to sound edgy, or some Fifty Shades of Grey shit going on. If you wish to include gore, coarse language, or sex in your posts, I just ask that you keep it tasteful. However if you feel the need to get really nitty gritty, RPG rules require you to take it to PM.
If you constantly break the rules (mostly 1,2, and 6), you will be warned but if you continue to break them you might be asked to leave.
The infection is identical to that of The Walking Dead. Everyone in the world is infected. You turn if you are bitten, scratched, or killed. Destroying the brain is the only way to truly kill a walker. Their abilities, qualities, etc. are all the same as in TWD. Same as the stages of the infection. There is no known cure.
!! Very important: I would REALLY like diversity in the group. I request that, instead of going for the strong, heroic, cliche character, perhaps consider a more unique character. Characters that come to mind are Dale, Carol, and Hershel. Characters that aren’t necessarily eager to get their hands dirty and their age might put them at a disadvantage. Perhaps a character who’s morals prevent them from wanting to kill walkers? Nonetheless, they are still useful and important characters. I am going to outrule two types of characters: Soldiers and doctors. For obvious reasons. However, police officers and nurses/vets are permitted. Also, you may establish relationships with other player’s characters before we begin.
Some diverse characters might include: a pastor, a housewife, a police officer, nurse, accountant, mechanic, teacher, farmer, martial arts instructor, lawyer, student, drug dealer, firearm salesman, car salesman, actor/musician (what if they were famous? Hmm), homeless citizen, or an immigrant new to the country. Of course your character does not have to be one of those but that’s just an idea of how diverse the group can be. !!

I have an issue with this. Well, with "Such as if a Character Will Survive". That's kinda god modeling there. Only the owner of the character has a right to kill off their character. Yes, I know that people will have to die. But I don't want my character to be killed without my permission. I agree with everything else, but not that.
If my character is going to be killed without my permission, then I don't wish to be in this.
Interested! Working on character sheet.
I think the dice role adds to the roleplay, it adds the element of fate to the roleplay, think about it; we will be playing in a real life setting and like real life death can come at any moment. However, we should discuss how it would work beforehand.
My suggestion; When the group encounter a horde of walkers, there can be 3 options 1)Survive 2)Infection 3)Death - once GM uses "Thrill Me" it will randomly land on a number. 1) the group survives the attack with no casualties. 2) the group survives the attack but someone in the group becomes infected. 3) the group survives the attack but someone in the group dies in the battle. If 2 or 3 is landed, then GM and participants can vote on which character in group is most likely to die or become infected (unless someone volunteers). The player whose character is chosen can restart a new character and rejoin the group again.

Well I guess what I meant was how injured your character will be from an altercation. It can range from a few scrapes to a huge gash in the head or a missing limb. Those injuries will make a character weak and eventually could lead to them dying. However your character actually dying by a result of the randomized selection will not be an option, was never going to be an option.

Well as Caits pointed out, we can't really kill off a persons character if they do not give permission. But we can give them injuries that could lead to death later on. I like your idea for if we encounter a horde it would just have to be tweaked a bit.
Seems like the whole dice thing should really classify this rp as a Tabletop rp rather than a casual one. Casual rp is more of a collaborative storytelling experience. This kinda sucks for me as I was looking for a good TWD/Zombie rp but I have no interest in the randomness factor in Tabletop style rps. A shame, really.

It still is! The dice aren't controlling the direction of the story, I think they serve more to make things that would normally be out of the player's control now not entirely in the GM's control either.
Which, for me, actually adds a certain sense of realism to it all. Especially in TWD universe where sometimes random things happen for no discern able reason other than that they can.
