um...yeah why not? under conditions its not like a battleship and that it can't always be invisible, like scans can pick it up or something.
Well I am most in favour of just starting with a blank slate. (definatly not that idea of our races comming to the original mass effect galaxy with the races still there because then i'd have to rewrite my entire race from the ground up) Also, I'd like to weigh in on that camouflaged ship. The idea is good and I don't see why you can't use it but it won't be very useful. You see, in space, you can hardly work off of visual scanning given the massive distances involved. Sensors pick up heat emissions from other vessels and so a ship that just obscures its visuals will still stand out on those sensors. A stealth system like that of the Normandy works because it stores its heat emissions in special sinks but that only works for a limited time and not while in a combat situation (because operating weapons would generate too much heat). In fact, heat is the major limiting factor in space combat because larger ships especially can only go on for so long before they have to vent their excess heat lest they boil their own crews. That said, a visual camouflage system on a smaller ship is still rather handy when landing on alien worlds, if only so the locals don't just plain 'see' you. In addition, it'll probably fool any defensive system that works off of laser targeting (such as Kimo point-defence systems for example)Eh, I was thinking about using the ability for small frigates in the main fleets, using them like subs (that at normal mass effect fleet engagement ranges, could probably work wonders with optical cloaks) that uncloaked fired off a few torpedoes and recloaked. Well that and Advance Heavy Transports that preceded the fleets to a planet. But I have another idea kicking around if this one is too useless, to be honest it was a passing thought.
Well like I said before, it might be a nice idea to have the geth be there as a sort of Collector like species. Maybe call them 'overseers' or something catchy. Alternatively, humans might also be a suitable candidate for this (given the reapers wierd interest in humans after ME1). They could have undergone the same process as the protheans had in order to become the collectors. So we could have human husks and other variants like preatoreans and scions (new ones too maybe if you're feeling creative) make up their faction. I must say I like the Geth better personally, but it's an idea like any other.Me thinks that a blank state would be suitable, though with leftovers of other cycles. And so, black boxes. If we have to choose the new collectors, I'd prefer the humans. More dramatic ;)
You don't need to add them in writing. Just say for example you have a military base colony or a mining colony. It gives a buff to war resources. Which would factor into a races war tolerance. ( A measurement of how willing a race is going to being to fight a war. Large measurement...ha...would be they can fight a war of attrition while a low is they would do fast major victories to end a war fast.Ok, then I'll make a small list of important colonies and add it to my CS. Just to note, the Kimo would be more than willing to go to war with an alien race as long as they can keep the war out of the Kimo home sector. They have a sizeable industrial capacity which can create tools of war fairly easily but more importantly, a doctrine that doesn't prohibit retreat as a tactical option. (meaning that rather than risk losing high value ships and assets, the Kimo would rather retreat alltogether to regroup)
I already have an idea on what will be happening on my planet when it starts and only outside intervention will helpOnly outside intervention eh? ;p What kind of crisis are we talking about?
