To any new comers who asked if they were ready, Reya would only give a determined nod. She was in the last bits of her exercise, and the distraction was wearing off. It was hitting her even harder now, that she was going into battle with an incomplete weapon. One accident, and she'd be done. Sent back home to the disapproving faces and horrible remarks. The fire in her heart was lit, and it was time to take the test by the horns.

The announcement came on as a large Airship, not too unlike the one they arrived in yesterday, took it's place at the docks. Reya looked to see Orion at the end of the pier already, a little nagging sadness prodding at her. Why didn't he come say 'hi'? Did she really leave a lasting mark on him? She sighed, simply checking to see if everything was on her person. Ammo, weapons, satchel with phone, Dust...yep, all there. The Airship looked daunting now, but Reya was ready to face it. She was a Descarta, after all. The boy from yesterday, the rather acrobatic and silly one, raced and cartwheeled onto the craft as quick as he could. What a fun guy! Reya thought to herself, happily making her way into the craft not too far behind him.

Inside, Reya took a spot near the wall, adjusting her pony-tail, and waiting for the other students to file in. There was an entire population of butterflies flitting about in her stomach, and it'd be a relief to get the day going.

That prank by a rather...courageous student brought a small smile onto Arara's lips. Oliver Kootz, was it? Though she couldn't say that she condoned such actions, it was entertaining in the same way that low-brow humor was funny. It said a lot about the security of the building though, if even the headmaster's office could be broken into by a first year. Then again, this was Vytal, not Vacuo. They obviously had better things to focus on, even after the last Headmaster was assassinated.

The boy who had previously introduced himself knew what he was doing, if nothing else. A bow of respect, indicated by how shallow, yet non-sloppy it was. Definitely someone accustom to higher society, this boy, and his confidence was obvious as well. A rich person, to be able to afford one of the latest Sakanade combat shirts, and imported directly from the factories at that. That particular line of products hadn't started shipment to Vytal yet. Very interesting. “I personally wouldn't mind the former,” Arara admitted, “It would be nice to experience first-hand how those of Vytal fight, though we'd most likely have many chances for such confrontations later on in the school year.”

With the announcement of the airship finally arriving, Arara took up her spear once more, following the rest into the spacious airship, before finding a window to rest beside. She wasn't nervous, of course, but they were going into battle now. It wouldn't help to have anything distracting pop up. Instead, she simply closed her eyes and started to simulate a fight in her mind, against the strongest person she's fought before.

"Where are we going that we need an airship for transport?" Daiki asked Grizel curiously and boarded in a rush like everyone else. "They sure like to emphasize the whole 'get in or get out' thing huh?" He added as he sighed at the overly dramatic announcement. It wasn't as if ten minutes wasn't enough for everyone to get on the ship, unless they were running late, in which case he doubted they would have heard that reminder anyway. Beacon sure was strange, or was it simply because Daiki was used to a more relaxed pace of life?

Once the ship was in the air Daiki sighed and relaxed near a window. Everything seemed much smaller from the air and for a moment, Daiki almost forgot why he was on the airship in the first place. "It's a nice view but I guess we won't get to enjoy it for long, huh?" He murmured. He stood close to the window the entire time, watching the ground below disappear beneath his feet, stroking his katana as he pondered what trials they would face. "Well, I suppose we've been through a lot, what's one more test eh, darling?" Daiki whispered to his sword before remembering he was in actual company now and glanced at Grizel to make sure she hadn't misunderstood and thought he was calling her 'darling'.

Rygar woke up. He looked around, forgetting where he was. "What the fuck happened!?" He shouted out, but no one responded. He was wearing nothing but his pants, with all his armor and gear piled beside him. After taking some time looking around, he came to the conclusion that he was in a hospital or something. The memory of what happened was still fuzzy, but he did notice that there was a check by his bedside. It was from that bakery, for a hundred Lien. "Oh yeah... But what happened after that?"

And than Arrun's voice crackled to life. "All prospective Freshmen, board the Airship at Dock 3 now, if it leaves without you, you forfeit your application to the school. You have ten minutes, ten very quick minutes..." Silence. Moments passed by. Moments felt like minutes. Than into hours. Three seconds passed, and Rygar was out of the infirmary with his clothes on.

Sepulcher was parked right outside, much to his pleasure. Not so much to his pleasure was that it took a good two minutes to get it started. "Shit! Work!" Once the engine started, Rygar didn't bother to take it easy. Made the Sepulcher go at top speed, blazing through Beacon to reach the docks. He counted the seconds in his head. About three hundred passed before he saw the sky docks. It was just him panicking, but he swore he saw the entryway beginning to close. But all that was left was a final stretch, so he released Sepulcher's NOS. He saw the crowd of people and knew that he was going to hit them, and to avoid that he took out the Spiral Edge. He had barely a second to act, but it was more than enough. Activating the Spiral Edge's secondary function, he created an explosion to propel himself and the Sepulcher off the ground and into the air. The Sepulcher didn't stop, neither in the air or once it landed. But that was sort of another problem now. He was going too fast to stop, and there wasn't enough space to slow down. But once again, the mere seconds Rygar had to react was all the time he needed to devise a way to prevent himself from getting pasted. He threw his shield towards the ceiling of the airship, extending the chain so that he could get a grip on it. The Spiral Edge dug into the ceiling before the Sepulcher hit the ground, and than Rygar locked the chain in place.

There was a sickening snap as the Sepulcher jerked Rygar's body forward. He didn't want to see what had happened, he just held on for as long as he could. Once the Sepulcher's engines came to a halt, he released the Spiral Edge and landed on the ground. He had sweat all over his body, and he had accumulated some stares for his actions, but that didn't matter. He made it.

Pascale Isadora Buckley
♫♪ Fetchez La Vache! ♫♪

There was absolutely no rush to get anywhere at all, in fact, if given the choice, Pascale would have gladly made herself more comfortable where she sat. It was part nerves and part, well, no it was all nerves, what little of it there was. But, nerves were good; they kept people on their toes. It was her preparation as she breathed in a deep breath and released a quite sigh before venturing onto the airship with the other students. She was at a disadvantage and that was only her being a Faunus. There was always that nagging feeling in the back of her head that... maybe she didn't quite belong. It was just a matter of time before she got in over her head and maybe this was that blinding flash of realization that would hit her any moment now. If she couldn't take care of herself out there, where there was real danger, then there would be absolutely no hope for her. The Headmaster's speech the other night was running through her head on repeat, scolding her for everything wrong she had done in the years prior to applying to Beacon.

Finding herself by the window, her eyes traveled to one of the nearby students. Lady Sakanade, she had overheard countless times passing her and her posse, group, servants even, by. Pascale didn't quite feel the need to further tense herself with highfalutin conversation, which was what she assumed she'd get from just looking at her and from the small snippets she did her flow from her blue blood mouth. There'd be plenty of time to get acquainted, should she find herself in the same team. Another thing to worry about, not necessarily Miss Sakanade, just people in general. This was getting to be too much.

Only the serene view from her spot could tense the contorted muscles twisting her expression and tightening every muscle on her body. Nerves were great, needless worrying was not. That wasn't who Pascale was, anyway. She was the silent go getting observer, wanting nothing more to do with life than needless fun and wonderment and a sense of purpose that she could finally fulfill at Beacon. Succumbing to her own soothing thoughts, Pascale let her eyes close, let her body lean forwards slightly. After a moment of simple breathing, tuning out the voices in the background, she found herself staring outside, getting lost in the landscape and morning sky. There would always be a nagging feeling in the back of her mind, but she repressed it for now. One couldn't just get rid of fear in just a few seconds and now definitely wasn't the time to be releasing any unwanted feelings; that would either exhaust her or get her further out of focus.

It was her now, alone again, relying purely on herself to get things done. There'd be people later, but now wasn't the time to rely on others who simply weren't there.

"Dunno! But who cares, we get to ride an airship!" Grizel laughed as she cheerfully made her towards, and into, said airship. She already had her face pressed against the window to see the world below her, tail totally not wagging with excitement. Whatever they were gonna do just had to be fun! She and Daiki and everyone else were going to do totally awesome things and- wait what did he just say?

Grizel turned her gaze towards Daiki, cheeks slightly flushed, "...Um." was all she could come up with on the spot.
Nervously twiddling ehr fingers, the flustered faunus tried to follow up her astounding reply with, "Er, well, that's... that's really flattering, Daiki, and, um, I'm happy you like me that much! B-but, uh, well... you see, we only just met..."
Though a small part of Grizel was definitely cheering for this scenario. Mainly because it was clearly proof that she had shattered the barriers that stood between humans and the faunus, allowing love to bloom and display for all to see that she and the rest of the faunus weren't lesser beings. They were all equal. But the fact that it was her being referred to so intimately...

"No! I wasn't talking to you!" Daiki replied hastily. Waving his hands in front of him frantically. "I didn't mean that! Uh.. it's not that you're not pretty or anything because you are.. uh no wait - I was talking to my sword." He finished in mortification.

"I do that some times." He added after taking a deep breath. "I grew up in a forest, like I said. Sentry duty gets boring if you don't find something to occupy yourself with... I wouldn't randomly start calling a girl 'darling' unless-" He stopped himself right there. No, let's not go there. He decided. She might think I'm confessing or something.

The human boy considered falling on his own blade in embarrassment. At least she hadn't run in terror or downright shot his not - an - actual - confession down. Though now that the thought was wedged in his mind, he had to admit he quite enjoyed Grizel's company so far. He would never have imagined calling a faunus friend before coming here, and probably still wouldn't outside of school, at least until they proved they wouldn't be stealing his stuff. With Grizel he could easily forget her faunus status until he noticed her ears again.

He stopped himself before his imagination and train of thought headed down a cliff he did not intend to plunge off of. "Right. Moving on..." He muttered... "What do you think we'll be doing?"

Alistair ascended the ramp onto the airship in several controlled strides, coattails moving lazily about as he did. The slight grin didn't leave his face. In fact, it may even have widened. While other students began to display signs of nervous tension, Alistair, perhaps paradoxically, did quite the opposite; He didn't feel more nervous, he felt less so. He'd spent his night preparing his weapons religiously, taking stock of his equipment, and ensuring that every single piece was working at one hundred percent capacity. He'd reviewed his texts on Grimms, mulled over what he knew of the other students, made sure he remembered names, and finally, he had rested. He had risen this morning to do another check of his equipment and now, a few brief hours later, here he was on the airship to the event that would decide his success or failure.

And that was why he didn't feel nervous. All of the preparation was done. There were no more materials to study, no statistics to worry about. There were no more questions. There were only two options left; Success or failure. There was no in-between, no point between. He would give it his all, and it would either be enough or it wouldn't be.

It would be enough. It had to be. He had worked far too long, far too hard, to fail when he had come so close. The smile widened slightly as he casually adjusted his coat and the holsters for his weapons, more for something to do than anything else. Idly, he glanced about to see if anyone he knew was nearby. He'd rather have a little conversation before the test began.

He chuckled a bit when Morella brought up how she didn't expect a weapon could fit in the gauntlet.
"Man, I'm not sure if I ever told you, but one time Leo showed me only about HALF of the weapons he has hid around the garage, did you know you can fit an automated minigun into the backside of a cash register? Neither did I until I learned just how damn bored he gets...I'm pretty sure you need a state permit to have a shotgun stored inside of a freezer compartment, but I never bothered to ask." He said with a small smile as he stopped looking at Zoll.

Tarkus' attention snapped to the ship when he heard Mr. Tower's announcement of the time they had to get on board, He lazily rose from the bench, and said: "Convenient, let's get this party started then, can only get so far with a Signal graduate anyway." as he followed Morella inside of the airship. They took seats near a window, though it really didn't matter where they sat, they might as well enjoy sitting on their asses for a bit before being thrown into godknowswhere to fight Grimm. Tarkus recalled what Leo told him about Ursa...and he couldn't help but remember the words: "Double-Tap" resonate throughout his mind as he waited for the ship to depart, lightly tapping his right foot on the floor periodically.

"...Your sword?" Grizel's blush immediately disappeared, replaced with a confused expression. The embarrassed-looking Daiki tried to explain why he'd said that. She didn't fully understand the reasoning, having spent her childhood in a forest, herself. Why talk to an inanimate sword, when you could hold conversations with living things? Like trees!

...Maybe it was a good thing she had to move to civilisation, after all.

Once it had become clear that Daiki was not giving her cutesy, lover-like nicknames, Grizel slowly lowly her hands. Then her mouth twitched. Then she doubled over with laughter. Mostly at herself for thinking someone could like her that much, especially a guy who had already stated his wariness for faunus.

So-sorry..." she gasped, once inhaling became possible once more, "S'not you I'm - whew- ehehe, I'm just dumb."
Eventually, when her composure returned to an acceptable state, the wolf-faunus thought for a moment, "Hm... I'm guessing we either kill something, or find some secret item that secretly tests our character! ...Kinda hope it's the first one, really. Seems easier."

At the headmaster's beckoning, Jack made her way towards the gangplank that lead to the docked airship. It wouldn't be much longer, hopefully, until the trial could be properly underway. Then again, they apparently needed airships to get there, so maybe it was further away than she thought. She rather hoped not; cramming a bunch of battle-eager teens into tight quarters and then telling them to hurry up and wait seemed like a bad idea.

For her part, she spent the trip resting in one of the ships' seats. She'd gotten a full night's sleep last night, so rather than outright sleeping she just closed her eyes and sat in peace and quiet. She wasn't in the mood for small talk, or talk about the exam or anything else for that matter.

Isaac Markeel

Isaac watched Arara leave with a certain amusement on his face. She knew how to play the game admirably: not giving anything away, while still tantalizing with half-ideas. She had hinted at her desire to test the mettle of her ‘fellow’ students; yet said nothing that couldn’t be denied. Even her desire to fight against those ‘from Vytal’ was an interesting statement. It told him that she almost certainly went to private education, like he had also indulged in.

Put simply, the woman was a beacon of interest in a sea of mediocrity.

The arrival of the airship had everyone moving in a hurry: hoping to get to the ship, not a few feet away, in ten minutes. The haste that some of the people were indulging in baffled the mind; and Isaac was happy to drift towards the behemoth craft with little energy or care. Inside the crowd, he quickly lost the group of women he had been so briefly accompanying and was assimilated amidst the dregs of potential students. For now, he simply moved his headphones over his ears and allowed himself to move into the confines of the airship. He had no particular desire or destination…for now, at least.

Eventually though, Isaac broke away from the crowd, past a woman with a ponytail and some stupidly tall person and into the more deserted parts of the battleship. He wasn’t looking for anything in particular: but as he explored, he eventually found himself alone in a cargo bay. The expansive space was quiet and spacious, and Isaac found himself a little resting space; leaning against a box. He just took the time to listen to his music and keep relaxed. If people were meant to interact with him, they would end up here. Otherwise, he’d take the opportunity to listen to some calm, soothing music.
Orion Armstrong

Orion was distracting himself with the miniature computer when the announcement of the airship caused him to look up sharply. The sudden arrival of the airship was a mystifying sight, and to be frank it had him reeling back a step or two. He had his arms raised defensively, as if his plan were to punch the craft. He lowered his arms after instinct was replaced by logic. This was of course the ship that would propel him into his destined course. He smiled as the ship lowered its boarding ramp and took the first step forward and was…

Suddenly the flying form of Oliver Kootz had him looking up in a mix of surprise and mirth. He was unsure of what to think when he saw the flying circus performer leaping over the nigh-seven foot tall, but impressed was on the list: it had to be said. He gave the circus actor a light nod and then boarded the ship amongst the first handful of individuals.

What, you may ask, was Orion’s first step on a new; adventurous path? Nothing other than a toilet break could start of what would be his life defining test. Orion had a need to empty himself of stress and sadly, that meant emptying his bladder. Not the most heroic of tales, but it was the start of his.

A few minutes after finding a toilet, using it, using an over-large amount of soap and then departing the toilet, Orion was shocked to realise just how many people were taking part in the test. He had expected a few dozen, but the numbers seemed closer to the hundreds. Hard to think that so few of them would likely make a difference in the world…

Soon enough, Orion found his eyes drawn once more to Reya. He wasn’t sure what their fledgling friendship was like now, but he hoped that he could at least salvage a branch of it if he swallowed his pride, as opposed to his foot. He walked towards Reya slowly and just stood beside her in the hallway; happy to remain quiet as he battled his own little stomach full of butterflies.

“…Sup.” The poets were going to enjoy Orion’s tales.

After arriving at the dock Addica separated himself from Tirren wishing him good luck as he found a spot on the dock to sit down on. As he sat down a voice came over the intercom sounding very similar to the headmaster, within a few seconds of puns though it was clear that it was a student. This was made more obvious after a couple minutes passed and the headmaster arrived at the dock dragging another student by the ear. And as the headmaster arrived the airship quickly followed. Standing up to board the airship Addica grumbled under his breath "I just sat down... and now another airship ride, wooo, I'm so glad I decided to leave my phone (and thus my music) back in my locker". Grumbling aside Addica quickly boarded the airship and found himself an open seat plopping into the open sit Addica closed his eyes, thinking to himself 'I guess with listening to music not an option it's nap time'.

Parting ways with Addica, Tirren hung back from the crowd at the docks. He ignored the first annoucment as it quickly became obvious that it was nothing more than a childish prank. From his spot in the back of the crowd Tirren was one of the first to see Tower approaching with a student in tow. Watching as the headmaster made his annoucement and the crowd in front of him began to board, he waited for the majority to board the airship before he followed. Stepping aboard Tirren placed himself on the floor next to the door with his back against the wall. His eyes scanning the crowd, watching, he pulled out his phone and a small set of earbuds. Placing them in his ears he navigated to the music on his phone, allowing a quick overture to begin. Tirren leaned his head back letting the music wash over him, all that was left was to wait.

Arrun turned around as a student swiftly walked past him and through a maintenance door, to the lower cargo bay of the ship. Arrun was about to follow, before a commotion on the docks. He sighed, as a student on a motorcycle flew into the hold and used his weapon to tether himself to the ceiling, keeping from slamming into either more students or the ship’s interior. He grumbled, walking over to one of the ship’s workers and said, “Mr. Beyer, I need you to go grab someone for me.”

The worker snickered, asking, “Is it Michael Rotch?” Arrun only raised an eyebrow in response, not amused, as the worker quickly stopped giggling and coughed, saying, “Ah, who, sir?”

“The student who went through that door, I’m about to make an announcement and I need everyone here. Plus, he can’t be there when the ship takes off, it’s dangerous,” Arrun said, as the worker nodded. Arrun stepped aside as the worker walked past, and Arrun turned to walk to Rygar.
Gren Beyer whistled to himself as he walked toward the maintenance door, opening it and hopping down the stairs. He circle around, making his way to the cargo bay, to see a student leaning on a box with their headphones on. He leaned in front of Issac’s view, waving a clipboard to get his attention. “Ah, sorry, sir, could you come with me?” Gren asked brightly, pointing with the clipboard back whence he came. “There’s about to be an announcement, and only approved personnel are allowed in here when the ship takes off…which we’re about to do.” Gren shrugged with smirk, waiting for Isaac to follow.
Ollie slid down the window, hopping off when he neared the bottom. He made popping noises with his mouth, making his way through the crowd, he passed by a girl with black hair and a pink headband and a large student beside her. They were quiet for the moment, but seemed to be talking. Oliver smiled at them, nodding at Orion and giving a wink to Reya. He was going to give a passing remark, before an explosion came from out on the docks. Oliver watched a motorcycle come flying through, wincing as the driver was yanked from flying forward as his weapon latched into the ceiling of the airship. Oliver breathed a sigh of relief as the driver was apparently okay, and gave a surprised look when he saw it was the student who had the outburst the night before.

He smirked, jogging through the crowd to the motorcycle. The driver, Rygar, was still slightly shaking from the ordeal, as a few students around him gave a few odd stares. Oliver vaulted off the shoulders of another student, landing gently on the front of the Sepulcher “Ni-i-ice wheels, dude. You might wanna watch your driving, though, especially around a cliff. Driving off one would prolly su-u-uck, almost as much as getting thrown off one,” Oliver said with a smirk, tilting his head. “Speaking of which, you feeling better than last night? It was probably first day jitters, you just got a little punchy and murdery. Happens to the best of us, champ,” Ollie said, giving a dismissive wave and a wry smile.

“I take it you two aren’t causing trouble again?” Arrun asked, as Oliver winced with a nervous smile. “Mr. Kootz, I trust you’re minding your own business, and Mr….” Arrun said, looking to a holo readout on his watch. He sighed, shaking his head and saying to himself, “Of course the file doesn’t have the full name, it’s not like anyone besides Headmaster Luster would need to know student’s full names, this is just like with Cororo Sakanade’s file,” He looked back to the two, saying, “And Mr. Rygar, I trust you will not be damaging Beacon property again. We try very hard to keep our vehicles and facilities in good shape, it would reflect poorly on your record if you caused more damages.” He then looked back to see Gren walk up before Isaac, giving a thumbs up before locking the door once the student walked through.

Arrun nodded, turning and walked to the door to the cockpit. “We’re ready for take-off, now,” he said, as the pilot nodded. There was a short alarm, as the light outside the ship’s door started blinking, signaling the closing of the dock doors. Arrun turned back, gripping a handle beside as he looked out the front window. He heard some small commotion behind, but it was nothing to require his attention. The outer door closed, and the engines roared to life, while the ship shuddered. It lifted off, gaining speed as It circled around, flying over the campus. The large side window revealed several upperclassmen waving them off as they flew, before going about their first day of classes.

The ship flew for a few minutes, quickly soaring over the countryside. Forests, streams, watefalls went by as the campus shrank in the background. Arrun turned away from the cockpit, snapping his fingers. Several of the workers on the ship came out, carrying small boxes on trays. Each one had a student’s name on it, and were locked.

Arrun cleared his throat, calling the student’s attention while the workers moved throughout them, silently handing the boxes out. “Prospective Students of Beacon Academy, this is it. This is the First Test, the first step towards your chosen life. We are traveling to an area that will push you to your limits, filled with dangers you’ve yet to experience. You will be faced with real Grimm, and not the smaller ones you might have seen in your preparatory schools. You’re primary goal, is to survive,” Arrun called out, pacing before them. “But you will not do it alone, the purpose of this test is to place you in teams, teams that you will be in for the remainder of your education. Your comrades will learn and fight alongside you, and you will rely on each other to grow in skill and power. Now,” he paused, gesturing out to them when the last box was handed out. “You may wonder how this will be done, if there’s a special format, if there’s some procedure to assign your teams. The answer is in your hands, you may now open your boxes.”

The workers all filed back into the main cockpit behind Arrun, the door shutting behind them. The boxes the students held then unlocked, unfolding to reveal a small device on a cushion. “These items before you are Wearable Aura Trackers and Communication Handlinks. They’re holopads linked to the school’s mainframe through Beacon Tower. These W.A.T.C.H.’s will monitor your Aura levels and biometrics, as well as offer some limited scans of the environment. With them, you can keep track of your personal power levels to better fight, and navigate your battleground. As of right now, they have limited capacity. They only give the map of the location below, they will be fully activated after the test is over,” he said, before going on. “These devices will also identify you as Beacon students when on missions that require interaction with the general public. It’s not a badge, or a license to do anything crazy,” he said, as a familiar groan of a circus boy sounded from the crowd. Arrun continued, “But it will show you are officially affiliated with the school, which should make dealing with some people easier when on Beacon business, but make sure your actions don’t reflect poorly on the school.” He said, looking to everyone in the room. He then paused, letting them inspect their devices.

Once activated, the Watch gave a small tutorial, going over its functions. It first needed to bond to bare skin, and at that time it would register the user’s Aura, and start monitoring their power levels, biometrics, etc. Then, it could be affixed to their wrist, chest, belt, even their weapon if the student desired. The watch was made of special “Multi-variable nanotubes” that could bond and integrate with almost any device or weapon, as a merged addition. At this point, it was usually just a general attachment, but it said that modifications could be made to the Watch later to customize it’s operation, functions, and even appearance, once the First Test was over. Voice commands and a holo keyboard were available to operate it, and it also came with a special ear piece to communicate between linked Watches. At this point, it only gave a small map of the terrain below, and a dot which showed them where they were on it.

Arrun walked over to the window, facing it while the rest of the students looked out as well. “Below you is part of the Boulin Mountain Range, the Death Grip Forest, Lake Listless with the Sinkhole Island in the center, and Helldrop Ravine. That is what’s below us, not to mention and underground tunnel system of an abandoned Dust Mine, with several cave entrances to it throughout the surrounding area,” he said, gesturing out. “Once you are sent into the battleground, you are to seek out another student. Your Watch will show each unpaired student near you, you are to follow one signal, and after both your Watches sync, you will be partners. You will be given a name, and this will be your permanent partner for the next four years, so get used to it.. Then, your Watch will give different locations, of Data Caches. These caches are in Grimm infested area, and it is your job, with your partner, to find them. Each cache has a pair elsewhere in the battleground, and a team will be formed when both sets of partners finds each Data Cache, and then find each other. Once the team has joined, your Watches will lock your lineup in the Beacon Database, and give you a full team name from the name of each partnership. Then, you will be given a location to move to for an airship to pick you up and bring you back to campus.”

Arrun, obviously tired of talking, turned and walked back to the cockpit door, as the students continued watching him. “This test will be a trial by fire, and make no mistake, death is a high possibility. This is not something to take lightly. You’ve all read the application, you know what kind of life we lead, but some of you may have gotten this far with rose colored glasses. If you go into this test without being able to overcome the fear of dying, you won’t survive. So, this is your last chance. If any of you still have reservations, if any of you have fears you can’t push through, then step forward. There’s no shame in it if you aren’t suited for the job, you shouldn’t have to die because you’re afraid if people think you’re a coward, but you can’t turn back after this.” He paused, eyes looking over each and every student. A few seconds passed, then a few more. After a few more seconds went by, and no one walked up, Arrun’s moustache turned up with a smile. “Very well, prepare yourselves for landing.
Morella Cinder

Morella gave an odd look, saying, “You must have had an interesting family, I’m surprised you turned out…actually, scratch that, it makes sense,” as she took a seat beside him. She pulled her headphones up, detaching one from the strap and handing it to Tarkus. She then settled in her seat, taking turns with him for picking songs, and was quiet for most of the trip.

-Later-

Morella looked up when Arrun coughed, taking back her headphones and wrapping them in her pocket. She listened intently on what he said, muscles tensing in excitement when he mentioned there were live Grimm to fight. She’d seen some smaller ones in captivity for a research project, and observed two Hunters fighting a Beowolf at the same facility, but she wasn’t allowed to engage it herself. Fighting people is fine, but she felt the real test for her would be fighting the actual monsters Hunters were trained to, well, hunt.

She looked to the worker handing out the boxes, taking out the device inside when the box unlocked and Arrun said to. She looked at it, it was gray and black, and had a very simple design. She turned it on and placed it on her wrist, as a holoscreen popped up. Several other students were doing the same, either with a hologram or just using the Watch-face itself. It showed a silhouette of a head, as several blank bars read, “Scanning,” with lines on them going back and forth. Then they lit up, as the silhouette turned into a picture of Morella, with a green bar beside her face. She tapped a few keystrokes on the holopad, looking over her biometrics and Aura levels. She gave an slightly impressed, “Hm,” before reaching back and detaching her Midnight Shadows.

She flipped them in her hands before setting them down, and quickly stepped inside them. Lines, dots, and dashes all along the boots lit up, glowing brightly white before dulling down and turning light blue. She knelt down, holding her Watch to her boots, and activated its Weapon scanner. It blinked, as the lights on her boots blinked as well, before a new tab opened on her readout. She tapped it, showing general schematics of her Boots, and was a little glad that it didn’t seem able to fully scan them. I can add that later if I want, but it’s good that they’re full functionality isn’t easily seen, she thought, looking over the Dust levels for the weapon. This would make it easier for her to keep track of her cartridges, and to have a general diagnostic during the test. The First Test would also be her first proper test of her Boots, as they were still technically prototypes.

She then looked as Arrun continued, talking about how the test would run and how the teams would be decided. She didn’t think the terrain would be an issue, her Glyphs could assist her with almost any kind of footing, and the map would give her enough bearing to decide where to go. She looked down on her Boots, unable to keep a small smile from her face, and bounced on her forefeet. They were a little heavy, but they felt solid and secure, she felt she could even dance in them. Still bouncing on her feet, she tapped Tarkus’ arm. “You ready for this?” she asked, the small smile still on her face, while Arrun paused for anyone to step forward to not take the test. “I can’t wait till we land…” Morella added, her brow determined as she waited for the ship to touch down.
The Jerks

The group of five made their way to the docks as the rest of the students were, with Christophe leading them. “Ah, this is gonna be a good day, guys. I’m so stoked for this,” he said, shadow boxing as they walked.

Jonah sighed, having Naomi ride on his shoulder. “Dude, you’re gonna wear yourself out, let’s just focus on not dying,” he said, as Ash nodded.

Lorelei looked to the docks, a thin smile curling on her lips. “Oh, look, it’s that cute raggedy boy with the rickety sword. How do I look, guys? I want to make a good impression,” she said, tussling her hair and tugging slightly on her shirt. Ash, Jonah, and Naomi all rolled their eyes simultaneously, as they knew she was only doing it to get a rise out of Christophe.

Who, in turn, looked towards the docks in anger. His good mood gone, Christophe put his hands in his pockets and marched towards the airship, the four other members of the group following close behind. Lorelei couldn’t help but giggle as they zeroed in on Alistair.

Christophe walked between their group and purposefully bumped into the brown-haired student, sending him stumbling forward. “Oops, sorry, it’s difficult not to step on insignificant things,” Christophe said, walking ahead into the airship. Ash and Naomi gave him a shrug, as Jonah simply followed Christophe, while Lorelei offered a hand to Alistair to help him up.

“Aw, sorry about him, he has trouble around cute boys,” she said, raising an eyebrow above her sunglasses. But in helping him up, she gently pulled him off balance, causing him to fall on top of her. Her sunglasses stayed over her eyes, though her cheeks blushed slightly. “Ooh, sweetie, we’ve only just met…” she said sweetly, tracing a finger along his cheek, before he clambered to his feet. Before he could say anything in response Lorelei blew him a kiss and turned, walking back in to join the rest of her group.

Ash raised an eyebrow when she walked up, saying, “You sure do love stirrin’ the pot, Lorrie,” as the girl shrugged with a grin.

“Quiet guys, let’s focus on this test now, I don’t want any mistakes,” Christophe said, his demeanor much more focused than before. This time, though he was angered, he knew what to channel it to, unlike the last time someone angered him on an airship and he whiffed his punches. His fists clenched tightly, as he looked to the ax on his back, brow furrowed and dark.
Ollie had finished talking with Rygar once the W.A.T.C.H.’s were handed out, he just wanted to make sure the guy was alright from last night. He didn’t bear any ill-will, he figured he’d have likely survived being thrown off a cliff anyways, and it seemed to be an isolated incident. So Ollie focused on playing with his new toy, tossing the box aside when he took out the device. He sighed as he saw it looked boring, but apparently it could be modified once they passed the test. He was looking forward to jazzing it up, as right now it looked boring. And Oliver did not like boring.

He placed it on his wrist, waiting for it to turn on. The screen appeared, and flashed incredibly brightly, brighter than the other students around. Oliver shielded his eyes, as a few close to him groaned in pain, smacking his arms and thinking he’d done it one purpose. Oliver squinted, as the screen darkened slightly and he could see a silhouette of a head. The meters all read, “…adjusting…adjusting…adjusting…” as the Aura levels started to even out. The light of the meter was first pure white, but very close to the edge of the screen, and slowly turned green as the meter filled. It blinked, less brightly this time, reading, “Complete.”

Oliver chuckled, checking out what the device had on him. He saw a blank tab for “Weapons,” and looked asked to the glove on his hand. Underneath it was another glove, his jeweled weapon, that was in close enough proximity for the W.A.T.C.H. to scan. He paused, finger twitching about the holoscreen, debating whether or not to let it try to scan or integrate with it. He shrugged, figuring he should at least try it out. He hit the tab, as it blinked while apparently scanning the object, but didn’t light up or activate. Confused, Oliver read a message on the screen, “Scan inconclusive, weapon not within range or compatible with device.” Oliver shrugged, figuring that he could use his weapon just fine anyways, and didn’t need a device to see how it was doing.

He looked up, as Arrun mentioned this being the last chance to walk away. Oliver took a breath, looking down. Truth be told, he still felt very out of place here. Well, he felt out of place everywhere, but here, he wondered if he was doing the right thing. He knew the dangers, his uncle and dad told him that he could likely lose his life, but he felt at home when doing dangerous things. Hell, he’d been in more danger growing up than many normal people in their lives, so the risk of dying wasn’t an issue. He just thought that maybe, this life wasn’t for him, this was important work. Rather than entertaining, this would be saving lives, helping people far away in trouble or pain. Oliver didn’t know if he’d be significant enough to do anything, or if he was better off wearing a read nose, giant shoes, and pedaling a tiny bicycle over banana peels.

But he wanted to find out.

He looked up, a confident smile and a furrowed brow. He knew Arrun wasn’t looked directly at him, but somehow, he felt that his resolve was evident. We was ready for anything.

“Very well, prepare yourselves for landing.”

Arrun then smiled, hand gripping the handle beside the door. All the students in front of him looked out the window, expecting the ship to lower.

“Ah…hey, Mr. T?” Oliver asked, after a few moments of silence. “So, is the ship gonna…you know, drop down?”

“Oh, part of it, sure,” Arrun said, nodding.

“…I thought you said we were landing,” Oliver asked again, confused.

“Oh, yes, that’s true,” Arrun said, nodding once more before pointing. “You are landing, good luck!” he said, as a large metal door encircled Arrun and the front of the ship, leaving a window for him to look out of.

Around the students, several sounds of clattering metal reverberated through the walls, like giant claws were unhooking. Then the room shuddered, and slowly slid backwards before starting to drop. Fast. The front of the ship pulled away as the room with the students began twirling. They were in free fall.

Instantly, it was chaotic. Many were quickly activating their weapons, and trying to smash through the walls, which was proving ineffective. Some went for the windows, which showed some signs of cracking, but held strong.

Amidst the fervor, Ollie was floating nonchalantly. He was no stranger to high stress and high altitude situations, and they still had several minutes before they’d hit the ground. He smiled, taking off his glove. He looked at the aged metal where the jewels were set, and the worn leather that was added after Oliver found it. The plastic tubes holding what Dust he had ran along the bottom of his forearm, above the W.A.T.C.H. strap, and were securely fastened. He smiled to himself, still wanting to keep his weapon’s abilities a secret, and knowing that he’d garner little attention while most people were going crazy. He drifted to the top of the room, where the metal supports were. He looked down, as he saw some people had the brains to get to the doors at either end of the hold, and were about to open them.

Oliver placed his hand on the ceiling, as the jewel on his gloved palm started to glow. The ceiling panel, a bout two feet wide, started to glow orange, like it was filled with light. Oliver blocked the panel with his body, but right when the doors were opened on the bottom of the ship, the purple jewel on the top of his glove flashed, and the ceiling panel disappeared, along with the hull behind it. Oliver wasn’t sucked out, as the cabin pressurized when the doors on the bottom opened, but the air rushing was still very strong. He climbed out, saying, “There’s an open hatch up here too!” to the crowds of students inside who were shoving past each other to get out, as they came back and tried jumping out the hold Oliver made.

The circus boy chuckled, as he held onto the ship. He looked down off the edge, as clouds soon left them while they were nearing the ground. He spotted curious panels on the side of the ship, opposite the giant window. They had handles and switches on them, and when Oliver reached down to push on, it shot forward like a catapult. He laughed, figuring it was so students could launch themselves from freefall around the terrain, though it would likely be difficult to pick where, as the hull was spinning.

Oliver climbed down and gripped the handle, grinning broadly as he pressed the switch. It was like being a human cannonball again, as the panel shot out and propelled him away from the falling ship-hold. “CO-O-O-O-OWA-A-A-ABU-U-U-UNGA-A-A-A!!!!” Oliver shouted as he sailed, twirling through the air. He laughed, spinning and flipping, as he looked down. The forest, with the grabbable vines and branch handholds, went by as he flew, overshooting it completely. He looked down, sighing as the rocky base of the mountain came into view. He rolled his eyes, saying, “Probably should look before I leap from the stratosphere, I’ll remember next ti-OOF!!” as he hit the ground, kicking up a huge amount of dust and leaving a large crater as he skipped and bounced, coughing as he cracked a rock by a cave entrance and careened to the side, spinning like a ragdoll through the air, and landing flat on the side of a smooth rock, slightly embedded in it with a few cracks in the stone around his splayed body.

He let go a breath, and a slight groan of pain. “Ugh, oy, well, I always wanted to leave a good impression,” he said, chuckling weakly. “Hah, oh, man, it hurts to laugh,” he sighed, taking a few moments to catch his breath.

Daiki laughed nervously as Grizel seemed to brush off the whole misunderstanding. At that moment the anouncement came on, as their WATCHs were distributed and before Daiki could turn and ask Grizel if she was ready and to look for him in the forest, they were promptly thrown out of the airship. "I guess I'll find you lat-AHHHHHHH!" He ended with a yelp as the ground disappeared beneath him and he was in free fall in a hurricane of flying objects and people, unsure of what exactly had happened.

WHAT THE FUCK IS UP WITH THIS CRAZY SCHOOL?! Daiki wondered as a window was shattered near him and the currents pulled him out, the wind rushing past his ears drowned out everything while he tried to think of a way to survive the fall. It wasn't as if he hadn't dealt with heights back in the forest, but diving from the canopy was very much different from dropping from the sky. He knew how to break a fall from a tree and his sword could take a lot of stress before it snapped, but he needed to get his upper body facing downwards... without any momentum to aid him. Trees are nothing. You've been chopping them down for years. Come on!

Swinging his legs back, he had to use every bit of his core strength to position himself head first, with seconds to spare before hitting the canopy. He drew his blade just before he hit the first branch, sending his aura through the blade as an arc of energy was drawn with his slash and sliced through the trunk with explosive energy, sending a branch hurtling at him. His blade was back in its sheath and placed in front of him as the large projectile hit it and slowed Daiki's speed down enough so he could plant his feet on the tree without breaking his legs. He deftly kicked off the trunk and to the next tree, hopping from trunk to trunk as he finally slowed down enough to land on a branch without losing his balance. He could have made it all the way to the floor, but if years growing in the forest taught him anything, it was that the canopy was the safest place to be if you wanted to stay undetected.

He checked his WATCH and looked for Grizel on the map. She really was the only friend he had made, after all, and the chances that he would meet another person he could get along with, faunus or human, were pretty slim. The few characters he had observed so far hadn't exactly made great first impressions. Find Grizel, then the Caches, and don't get killed. Simple enough. Grimm infested forest is home ground for me after all. Daiki thought to himself as he patted his sword again. "Let's get to work, eh, darling?"

He found the wolf faunus' signal. Northwest. He made sure to get his bearings right before departing for her location, travelling through the canopy from branch to branch stealthily.

As the announcement started Tirren removed a single earbud and listend closely to Arrun's words. Opening the box he recieved he looked closely at the WATCH, it provided a nice array of information. Hesitantly reaching into the box he withdrew the WATCH and placed it in his pocket. After all if he put it on others could locate him, and he didn't want some weakling pairing up with him just because of his class standing. It wasn't an ego thing, rather he wanted the chance to pick his partner after observation.

As the headmaster's speech concluded the room began to fall. Quickly getting his feet under him Tirren grabbed the door next to him. He began to pry the door open, after all staying in this box with the others wasn't part of his plan. Finally getting the door open he hauled himself out and began his freefall towards the ground. Pooling his aura he began to radiate a teal light as he drew the quill from the spine of his book. With a flick of his wrist the quill lengthened into a rapier. As he rapidly approached the trees below he threw the rapier into the tree and spiraled down around the trunk. The metallic string wrapping around with him. With little grace he crashed onto a thick branch. 6iving a hard yank he freed the rapier and it was pulled back to him as the string re-coiled in the spine of the book. Rapier noe in hand Tirren set his eyes on the falling room and watched for any prospective partners.

Reya was busy looking out of the window when Orion finally approached her. She turned to him, a bit surprised, but her eyes shone brightly. "Hey! I was starting to think I scared you away, or something. Glad I was wrong!" The young lady smiled as usual, and offered a light chuckle as well. The airship was beginning to fill up, and it looked like things were about to get under way. As she looked past Orion's shoulder, she caught a glance of the acrobatic boy...winking at her? What a strange time to flirt...a bit perplexed, Reya was about to ask if Orion was nervous at all, before the airship's alarms went off, and they began their ascent.

The light shuddering of the craft as it was held aloft in the air served only to further agitate Reya's nerves, but she held fast to her willpower. It was what she would need to get through this, considering her rather simple weapons and lack of defensive anything, besides her slightly above average Aura. Though, she knew that she was capable, just as much so as any other prospect in the room. It was skill that determined a good Huntress, and she believed she had enough to get her through this. "Still kind of hard to believe this is happening..." Reya muttered to herself, but she was sure the large man next to her could plainly hear her. Thinking aloud was a nervous habit of hers.

It wasn't much longer before Mr. Tower came out and explained everything, and had locked boxes given to each student. The one Reya was handed had her name clearly displayed on the side. It wasn't really heavy, and she left it alone until it unlocked itself at Arrun's command, revealing a small device called a Watch. Can't get much more original... Reya smirked mentally, before removing the Watch and slipping it on her right wrist. The screen flashed, though not as brightly as one other student's, and displayed "Scanning" as it registered Reya's data. Her picture, along with her data, appeared on the display. "Wow...isn't that nifty...:" Reya marveled, noticing a 'Weapon' tab.

She tapped it, and it requested to scan her weapons. The idea of integrating it with the Rings of Saturn seemed like a decent idea, but she feared that her use of Dust might harm the device somehow. So instead, she simply allowed it to register the RIngs, and after a brief scan, it showed the skeleton of the Rings, as well as them unfolding to form Priestess. Her firearm's Auric ammunition was displayed as a white bar alongside the rotating image. It would be handy, considering Reya had just been 'eyeballing' the levels for as long as she could remember. It would be even more useful when she customized it. The sheer amount of possibilities made her giddy!

The acting Headmaster explained the terrain, and the task at hand. Most of the area seemed like suitable battlegrounds, except the caves...she would have to be careful there. Without the space to perform her usual spins and flourishes, she'd have to stick to close combat. With White Dust, it wouldn't be a problem, but it would serve her well to be cautious. Who knew what was down there?

Reya waited for the announcement that they were landing, and looked to Orion with a look of confusion, quickly turning to shock as the room shifted, and began falling from the ship. "Oh my God, they're insane!" Reya screamed, shutting her eyes tight to try and focus, but it just wouldn't come. Her maroon Aura was beginning to flicker, her panic starting to agitate the power that slept within her. Before her feet could leave the ground, however, Reya's eyes flew open, catching the sight of the new opening at the top of the chamber, and hearing the acrobat announce it. As the room rolled, Reya let herself fall, but made sure to catch the lip of the opening, and pulled herself to the outside. The wind was tremendous, so much so, it made her lose her grip and fall, only to catch one of the handles at the side.

A switch sat there, and with no other options, Reya went to press it. "See ya later, Orion!" She yelled, before smacking the switch and being sent flying. "Wooooo!" Reya shouted, stretching her arms out like wings, before rolling in mid-air, and removing her Rings with threads of Aura, morphing them into Priestess. She kept it closed, until just the right moment over an open area, outside the thicket of forest, and unfurled the parasol. She was jerked back by the resistance, before taking a slowed descent to the ground.

Reverting the weapon to Rings, and rolling as she landed, Reya stood up and dusted herself off with a grin. Everyone, even her family, told her that a parasol was a stupid weapon. Well, it just saved her from a broken everything. Checking the Watch, Reya saw a few students in the forest. Deciding that was the best place to go to find a partner, Reya crossed her finger and hoped Orion was inside, as she stepped into the shaded land of green.

IC:

As Lorelei walked away, the boy who had, though he was uncertain how, become her favorite target watched with a raised eyebrow and a slight red tinge to his face. Shaking his head at the conduct, he focused his attention on the headmaster, who was beginning to speak.

While Arrun was explaining the watches, Alistair was instead running through the functions available initially. Rather meager, but he doubted that would last long. Those who enjoyed tinkering, himself included, would start maximizing their potential when they had time. Instead of integrating it, he simply attached it around his wrist, studying the map intently, keeping one ear on the headmaster's briefing. Partner up, WATCHes would synchronize, retrieve data from Grimm territory, find the pair with the matching data core. Simple enough. The briefing was fairly normal, which in and of itself was a little odd. He'd heard from other people that the first exam was traditionally quite insane.

Not that he was disappointed for long. The instant the metal shield slammed shut in front of Arrun, Alistair understood what was about to happen.

No. No, that's not it. That would be insa-

The sound of sliding metal and the heart-stopping drop that immediately followed put an end to that thought very, very quickly. His eyes snapped to the window, taking note of exactly how high up they were. By his estimate... Well. He could say for sure that they were above the cloud layer, and that meant very high indeed. With an acceleration due to gravity of nine point eight meters per second squared, he didn't need to do the math to know that hitting the ground from this height, aura or no, would be very bad indeed. Which meant that, logically, there was some kind of mechanism to allow them to reach the ground with reasonable safety. He just needed to find it.

This analysis was completed in a few seconds, the same amount of time that it took for most of the others to start panicking. Most of them rushed to the door or windows, trying to force their way out. However, a certain Oliver Koontz had already made a hole in the ceiling. Far more convenient than fighting to get out the other ways. Between a jump and the decompression that accompanied the sudden breaching of a sealed environment, he pulled himself out of the hole, clinging to ridges on the top of the metal room to prevent from flying off. By this point, about thirty seconds had been wasted. They'd breached the cloud layer, dropping at incredible speeds. The wind whipping about him, he pulled himself to the edge of the falling deathtrap to peer over the edge. There were handles attached to the exterior, and a lever beside them... The panels seemed to exist separate of the main whole, as well... Launchpads.

...

Oh hell, that's what they were supposed to do?

Grimacing, Alistair steeled himself to do what he needed to do... And slipped over the edge, catching hold of the handles, and crouching sideways against the launchpad. The wind slammed against him like a wall, now that he was presenting a wider target for the wind resistance, and threatened to dislodge him. His eyes were narrowed against the wind, but he still took a few moments to survey his surroundings. He couldn't control the angle of his launch, but he could at least make sure he knew where he was going. A moment later, he triggered the mechanism.

The feeling of the launch was difficult to describe; It was a bit like he would think that being launched from artillery would feel like. He was, in essence, turned into a living projectile, the panel sending him shooting off horizontally, before gravity caught him again and turned it into a downward angled descent. During none of this, however, was the speed of his fall reduced; If anything, the launch increased it. Straining to keep his eyes open, he took note of his estimated landing point. By his estimate, he would hit a relatively open portion of land to the west of the forest, a short ways north of the lake. Good. Obstacles would have made his already tricky landing nearly impossible. As he flew, a half-grin plastered itself onto his face, born of adrenaline and the sheer thrill of the fall. Despite himself, it was almost fun. He did not have long to enjoy it, however. The ground was rapidly rushing up to meet him, and by his rough guess, he'd hit in twenty to forty seconds. Enough time to ensure his safe landing.

The first thing he did, naturally, was consciously call on his aura; He'd need it in order to land without severe injury. The initial flicker of color was the none-too-encouraging indicator that it had sputtered to life, one confirmed by a glance at his W.A.T.C.H. The ground was much closer now. Eyes narrowing in concentration, he triggered the booster in the right elbow of his coat, the blast whipping him around so he faced the sky, back to the ground. That was the easy part. He locked eyes on the nearby trees, using them to gauge his distance from the ground; He needed to time this precisely. He watched them get larger and larger, as the ground loomed, unseen, behind him. Too late and he'd hit the ground at full force, too soon and he wouldn't slow his descent enough. He waited, and waited, until he was by his estimation about seven to ten meters above the ground before triggering the boosters built into the small of his back.

The clash of forces was almost painful, the sudden counteracting force slashing the speed at which he fell in an instant, pushing painfully against his back as gravity and applied force warred between themselves. The "almost" would be removed in seconds, however, as he slammed into the ground with all of the remaining force behind his descent. The impact was sudden, but it didn't stop there; The energy behind his fall was enough to throw him a few yards across the ground, rolling and bouncing painfully before finally grinding to a halt. Every fiber of his being hurt, every bone ached, every nerve registered its complaint loudly and clearly. The same could not be said for the world at large, however, which was fuzzy and spinning. Groaning, he forced himself into a sitting position.

Well, I'm in one piece. Let's see, I can move my arms, I can move my legs, I can move my ankles, wrists are fine, head's still on my shoulders... The self assessment went on for a moment longer until, satisfied that he was fine, Alistair stood. Unsteadily at first, he pushed to his feet, shaking his head and surveying his surroundings. He'd landed more or less where he expected, though he was a bit more northeast than he had estimated. The woods were just behind him, and a glance at the sky told him that that was where most of his peers had landed, or else they'd overshot it a bit. Satisfied, he turned his attention once more to his own status; Weapons intact, bones intact, no concussion... A few growing bruises, but that was it. Could have been much, much worse.

That headmaster is psychotic. He commented silently to himself, though he had to admit that it was certainly the most exhilarating start to a test he'd ever had. Drawing Hell and Heaven, they both unfolded into their active forms with a satisfying swing and click.

Time to find a partner. He thought, plunging into the undergrowth. Then move to the data caches.

Hopefully Christopher's crew doesn't make an appearance.

Isaac Markeel

Isaac slowly looked up at the sight of the stranger waving in his peripheral vision. His first instinct was to unravel one of the WALTER unit’s threads and prepare for battle; but something niggled in the back of the Markeel heir’s mind about the irrationality of that plan. Even if he were to take down the mysterious individual, he would have to deal with Arrun. The stories he’d heard of that man left him in no doubt that Isaac would get naught but a thorough trouncing, should he get on the bad side of that man.

Isaac pulled off his headphones, listening to the man as he explained why he had disturbed Isaac in his moment of solitary calm. The young Markeel heir could do nothing but shrug as he arose from his seated position and began to follow the mysterious Gren Beyer.
Orion Armstrong

Orion mirrored Reya’s chuckle when she admitted her own worries about last night’s strangeness. Both individuals were silenced by the taking off of the ship, and subsequent handing out of the watches…called W.A.T.C.H.’s. He couldn’t fault them for not sticking with functionality; Watches called watches made sense. He was tempted to ask what the acronym stood for, but that would involve disturbing Arrun midstride. Orion doubted the sanity of running the headmaster’s speech.

Orion started examining his watch and noticed that the readings it got from Orion’s aura was wonky, to say the least. The levels kept fluctuating from a mediocre number to one that barely got registered. It was only when he let the watch hover over the limiting Zeta Bracer that it registered an actually logical aura reading. He nodded his approval at the versatility of the device, perhaps he could tinker the device to link with the Bracer; might prove a useful way to control the limiter a bit more. If he were tech savvy: that’d be a priority. Sadly, he wasn’t much of a technical genius…he’d have to find someone else to do that.

Having scanned the Bracer and his own aura, Orion noticed another tap on the display of the ‘W.A.T.C.H.’ that read ‘weapon’. He wondered what use he’d get from scanning the Polearm, but he was hardly going to neglect his newest toy. There was a certain satisfaction to be brought about from playing with the little device. He could already tell it was infinitely more useful than the little phone-computer he had in his pocket: and Orion had always drawn a certain amount of joy from technology. He drew his weapon from his hip, still in its retracted form, and with a quick flick of his wrists and a quick ‘fwip’ the weapon was extended to its full length. The Polearm was large; suitably so, considering Orion’s immense size. Running the W.A.T.C.H over all of the weapon’s surfaces quickly loaded in data to the device, and Orion gave a satisfied nod. Looking over to Reya, he noticed her own mirth at the use of the device. Birds of a feather, it seemed.

Isaac followed the strange Gren Beyer silently, ignoring the man’s useless chatter as the worker seemed intent to tell Isaac his life story. Isaac was quick to dismiss the man’s conversational talents as useless; even if he suspected the worker might be hiding a trick or two up his sleeves.

Isaac arrived in time to hear the start of Arrun’s second speech. He had a much more confident air about him, when contrasted against the speech of yesterday. This was the man Isaac had expected; the one he’d heard about. The ‘Unstoppable Lion’ was doing an admirable job explaining the test, and he handed out a new device to each potential hunter; a W.A.T.C.H. The device was similar to one of Isaac’s personal computers at home, but this device was much more streamlined. It was designed to be a combatant’s engine of information. You wouldn’t be downloading the latest game of ‘Grimm Fantasy’ or whatever shitty app they released next.

Isaac was quick to allow the W.A.T.C.H. to register his Aura and was left smiling as the device seemed intent to struggle with registering his impressive aura levels. When it came to scanning weapons, Isaac felt a moment of hesitation. The WALTER unit was a prototype, and its inner mechanisms were a mystery to all except Isaac and his father; if the data were to fall into anyone else’s hands…

Instead, Isaac withdrew one of the electrified bayonets and allowed the weapon to scan that, instead. He entered a few inputs, and suddenly the device recognised there were, in fact, ten of the projectiles. He’d scan in the WALTER unit later, when he was sure that the data would be secure. Isaac was plenty tech savvy for that.

Isaac began listening to Arrun’s next layer of speech, as was everyone else in the room. The explanation of the task was simple enough: find a partner, kill some Grimm, retrieve a data package, and find the pair with the matching data package. Maybe he’d be able to find the Sakanade girl; she’d prove a useful partner, if only because of her connections. He was confident that his skills would allow him to ‘carry’ near enough any dead weight.

He was about to move towards Arara when he noticed a metal door lower in front of Arrun, a single window allowing him to look out upon the class. ”Well that isn’t good.” He unfurled a few inches of the WALTER unit’s wires, ready for what was to come next. He suddenly found himself woefully unprepared as the entire metal box began to drop.

The entire main hold’s shift was enough to cause Orion’s eyes to widen. He could predict where this was going, and that made him cringe. “This guy is pretty metal.”

He didn’t get a chance to say anything else as the entire room began to enter a freefall. Most of the students began to panic, and many bolted for a door which was opening. The entire cabin started to depressurise, and Orion was left swearing, before stabbing his Polearm into the ceiling. What should have been a useless clash of metal on metal instead left Orion’s Polearm buried four inches into the roof. He’d abused his Semblance for the first time in what he imagined would be a day of letting loose; and his gaze flew around the room. Something caused the Polearm to jerk slightly, and Orion feared that it was going to come loose soon. He looked at the circus boy from earlier, crawling through a second panel. He also heard a shout of… ‘Cowabunga’?

“Guess there is something useful out there.” Orion said, letting out a strained sigh as he began to concentrate. The depressurisation was going to be an issue, as he couldn’t get to the second window. Combine that with the clamour for the other exit meant that Orion had one real choice.

He noticed a strange individual exiting the ship through Oliver’s exit: a short-ish individual with black hair. He shrugged off the stranger as he muttered something under his breath. The W.A.T.C.H started to fluctuate wildly and glow red. He ignored the glow for a moment as he released one hand from gripping the Polearm. Inhaling sharply, he felt his concentration intensify until…

Flaring his aura and his semblance, Orion slammed a palm into his Polearm’s blunt end. The roof; already pierced by the weapon, gave way to Orion’s strength. The entirety of a panel of metal crumpled, buckled and was forced out of its hinges by the blow, and Orion gripped the roof’s newest window with one hand, as he pulled himself and onto the roof. He silently thanked the quality of his weapon: aware that if the cross guard had been weaker, he’d have just catapulted his main weapon into an unknown location.

On the roof, Orion noticed the launch pads and swore internally. He didn’t like where this was going, but it was the only choice they had. Gripping the closest one, which he’d missed by a narrow inch it seems, Orion started to pray to whatever gods he could remember not believing in recently. This wasn’t going to be fun.

The launcher did its job admirably.

Isaac swore when he felt himself floating in the middle of a free-falling metal death chamber. He was preparing to kill everyone in front of the metal door when he noticed the actions of two students in particular. One was the circus performer, who managed to somehow make a second exit; the second was a brutish looking man who’d managed to stab a weapon into the roof of the ship. Ignoring the implausibility of these two feats, Isaac settled with going with the flow, as he wrapped one of the WALTER wires around the Polearm of the brute to stabilise himself. The Polearm shuddered under the added weight, but held steadily. The deepness of a stab required to do that left Isaac pondering just how strong a thrust the huge-one could produce. ”Those two are worthy of remembrance.”

Isaac started to manipulate a second and third wire towards the newly made exit, and was the second out of the exit. He gave a look towards the large one, before exiting. He’d considered helping the man out, but he seemed in enough control as it was. Instead, Isaac looked at the launch pad beneath him and smiled. [i]”Interesting. It seems Arrun isn’t interested in training weaklings.”

Isaac smirked as he gripped a launch pad with one hand and let it do its work; catapulting him into the world below. He was surprised by the ferocity of it all, as he was rapidly thrown towards the mountains. The ideal nature of his decent was worthy of a chuckle, as Isaac saw the approach of the range grow quicker and quicker. The trajectory of his flight would have him flying past one of the lowest peaks, were he not quicker in his reactions. He unfurled all ten of the WALTER strings and attached them to a Bayonet each. His semblance both gripped the daggers and manipulated the strings as he launched them all into the mountain; planting ten sharp picks into the rock face. Centrifugal force did the rest as he span around the mountain several times, slowing slightly each rotation until he could land on his feet, atop a mountain.

Dusting his arms off, Isaac watched the detached room, hurtling towards the floor and towards what could easily be early fatalities.

“I guess now I wait.”
Orion Armstrong

Orion was unsure of how he should monitor his luck. Ideally, he would have been sent towards the forest; His Polearm could have allowed for an easy landing that way. The worse options were something like the mountain, or the island. The only way that he’d be able to land on either of those locations was face first.

Instead, he missed both the best and the worst locations: instead landing in a rather undignified manner in the deep recesses of Lake Listless. He emerged from the lake, spluttering and a little sore: glad for his Aura shield. It had been ideal in that it stopped him from suffering anything worse than minor whiplash. He swam towards the closest shore, which happened to be the Sinkhole Island. On Sinkhole Island, Orion started to dry himself a little; checking to see if the W.A.T.C.H. had been damaged. Relieved that it had not, he began trying to identify the nearest person using the device. Sadly, he was struggling with even that simple task, due to the device’s previous hissy-fit.

“Gunna have to work on that.” Orion said, as he started to fiddle with the Zeta bracer as he began to reapply the limiter on his strength. He’d have to find his partner in a bit then, it seemed.
