Time passed, with each bag and sack and luggage he pulled from the water. The sun was still high in the sky, the water was cool, refreshing, and salty. Even though Charlie started off this endeavour with all of his wet clothing on, with the passage of time, he did shed most of it till he was only in his rolled up and unbuttoned uniform dress shirt. His under shirt, uniform vest, his socks, tie, and his one shoe...they were all neatly laid out on the luggage, quickly drying in the bright sunlight.

Wading quietly in the water, and watching the small shallow's fish flee away or around him through the lenses of his glasses, he spotted one last, large piece of luggage for his general area. Rolling up his sleeves, which sagged back down a second later, Charlie ventured forward to slightly deeper waters. Reaching forward, he grabbed a strap and pulled the thing to him. It was not too heavy, but he spent much of the time dragging it through and over the wet sand with some difficulty. Trying to bring it to the rest of the bags, all neatly arranged in rows for easy access to each one...

*BUMP*

The luggage, as he dragged it, seemed to bump into something, snag onto...trying to pull it over whatever, it didn't budge much. Letting out a small, frustrated huff, he let the bag rest and knelt down to inspect that it got stuck on. Two sandy bumps, one small and round, the other larger, round, and smooth. With this inspection, he had a sudden chill rush up his spine as he shifted closer and began to brush some sand off of them. Why? Maybe to make the removal of the stones easier, or maybe...somewhere inside, he knew...scoping out a handful of sand, he found himself faced with the dead eye of some--

"Good, good," Joseph said, taking a seat beside her, "The man you met said you didn't look too well, have a look over yourself, will you? The rough see has left its mark on all of us." He smiled and stood up again, straightening his tie, which he was surprised had staid on his body since the crash. "In the meanwhile, we should hope that other people will find us, or perhaps just stumble upon us," he paused, "And not to mention the issues of food and water. It's lucky this island as a whole seems to be quite ripe in abundance of food." He placed his hands on hips and looked around them solemnly at the thick jungle in front of them. Yes, it was true that there seemed to be plenty of fruits lying on wait, but the real issue was water. Yes, it was a curse to be surrounded by such an abundance of it, yet it was all undrinkable! Curses!

Perhaps they could drink from coconuts? He had heard that there was a sort of liquid akin to water hidden inside them, and even if it wasn't ideal, it was the best thing they had. "I would say to split up and look for food, but I hardly believe that's a wise decision. We lost so many I do indeed doubt it would be wise to lose more people." Joseph ran a hand through his tangled, disheveled hair, brushing out a few of the many knots that had collected in it. "But perhaps if we keep along the coast, we have a chance of finding something there."

Suddenly, there was a scream, loud and piercing, ripping through the air. Joseph frowned, his eyebrows drawing together in worry, a million different situations running through his mind. "We should find whoever screamed," was he immediate reaction, and he voiced his opinion, despite not wanting to separate. But, they didn't have to, right? "Alana, you can still walk correct? We should make our way to whoever that was. Perhaps they need help, and they sounded but a short walk away."

John was startled by the scream and looked everywhere. John had heard many screams in his life but none as bloodcurdling as this. He didn't know if it was the best idea to go towards them but he did not voice his concerns. He had suffered more terrifying things than screaming for certain. He decided to focus on other things, like survival. They would have to start collecting rain water for certain. And hopefully there were animals that the survivors could eat on this island. He wondered if anyone had salvaged any luggage.

As soon as Madison finished speaking, a blood-curdling cry was raised from the southeast. Isak snapped to attention, glaring resolutely in the direction from which the call had come. After a few moments, when the hairs on his neck lay flat again, he look back to Madison, who was likely in the same state of shock. His mind jumped between possible reasons for such a wail and all of them seemed to involve dying horribly on an uninhabited island, hundreds of miles from anyone who ever knew him. These unpleasant thoughts were exceedingly difficult to ignore, but Isak managed to pull together some rational part of himself and convince it not to jump to conclusions. He exchanged a worried glance with Madison and indicated the direction of the sound's source before creeping through the undergrowth toward the commotion.

Isak stayed within the cover of the vegetation until he saw the man who he assumed to be the source of the screeching. Well, he wasn't being horribly murdered by some great tropical beast, which was a good start. Isak looked back partly to see if he could track his way back to the clearing, partly to see if Madison had followed him. He didn't see her, but he'd left a wide trail in the brush to trace his way back to the clearing. Isak mustered his courage and stepped out onto the beach and hailed the man - it was Charlie, the ship's steward. He didn't know him closely, but being on the crew together meant they were somewhat acquainted.

"Mr. Rosenburg," shouted Isak, "Are you all right? Do you know what all this shouting was about?" Isak thought for a moment, then followed with, "Have you met any more survivors? Are you injured?"

Madison jumped and let out a slight gasp at the cry that pierced the air, shaking the young woman to her bones. It was frightening, the type of scream that meant something bad had happened. Or someone got a really bad scare. Which was still bad. She covered her heart with her hand, taking a deep breath to try and calm the racing thing. She hoped no one had gotten seriously hurt. The thought was frightening and sort of froze her to the spot on the ground, staring up at Isak with wide eyes. She couldn't just sit there and not go towards the sound; after all, someone could be hurt and she wanted to help. She wasn't the type to just sit around and let someone suffer or not help someone in need. It just wasn't her to do that.

She managed to get to her feet, her dress about to get on her last nerves. The thing was just a bother, heavy and in her way. With a slight huff, she heaved it up and slowly began to follow Isak. She was slower, considering she was dealing with a big, red dress, and so it was taking a bit of time for her to step over some of the undergrowth and not get snagged on it. And the undergrowth did hurt a bit, on her bare feet. Maybe she should have kept the heels. She could have broken the heels off but they would have still been uncomfortable. She ignored the little pokes at her feet and how her body just wanted to sit down, how her throat was begging for water. She marched on and made it through the undergrowth, breaking through just as Isak was trying to grab Charlie's attention.

She recognized the man. She remembered his name being Charlie Rosenburg but besides that, she didn't know much else. She was still fairly new to the crew and thus, she didn't know very many crew members, or know any of them well, at the very least. She waved to Charlie but didn't say anything; after all, Isak had said enough. She had nothing to add and she really didn't want to speak too much. It felt like sandpaper every time she did and that was not an enjoyable feeling, at all.

For a moment, he had blacked out...when he came to, he was sitting away from the face he had uncovered in the sand. Trembling, he was trembling in a state of shock. There were two others near him, and they'd seen him in such a weak state. Charlie took a few deep breaths as he rose, brushing sand off his pants and shirt, he composed himself as quickly as he could...though the image in his head of the eye kept him trembling, ever so slightly. Looking over at the two people carefully, he recognised one as the navigator, and the other one was unfamiliar to him. Must be a passenger. Going over to the woman, but still keeping his distance, he smiled at her politely before gesturing to under a few tropical trees a short distance away, "I'm alright miss, I just...let the heat get to me, but it's be unbearable to think that the heat may get to you. Please sit under those trees, I'm sure the crew will get the situation under control soon!"

Waiting for but a moment, he crossed over to the navigator, discreetly kicking sand onto the face he had uncovered as he did so. Looking over the man carefully, he went up close to whisper, though he keep his eyes shut so the proximity of other eyes would give him worse shakes, "Look, I don't want to cause a panic, but I found a body buried in the sand here." Judging from the single handful of sand it took to uncover a forth of the face, the body was covered up by only a few layers of sand, though effectively so, "What's the protocol for such an event?!" He whispered to the navigator quiet, yet harshly.

"Well, I think the first step is not getting marooned on a deserted island. But past that, I can't much say. We all know people died in the wreck, but some may not yet be ready to face it. Leave things be for now, don't mention it for a bit. When we get a better understanding of our situation, then we can talk about it. First, though, we need to secure food and water, and think about how we're going to get off this island."

Isak wiped a line of sweat from his brow. The sun was already scorching his skin, and he could feel dehydration coming on. It was imperative to find water, and quickly. He motioned back toward the treeline where Madison stood silently and walked off in that direction. Isak nodded in greeting as he passed her, but continued on into the jungle, following the path of trampled grass back to the clearing they'd originally rested in. From there, Isak headed inland, determined to find running water. It was imperative to find running water, not a stagnant pool, as the latter was a cordial host for all kinds of disease and a breeding ground for strange insects - the thought of which made Isak shudder. He hadn't thought about it yet, but this island would probably be swarming with bugs of all shapes and sizes, and at night they'd be crawling all over his skin, into his mouth and ears, their tiny, hairy legs brushing all over his skin. Isak had to stop for a moment and hold back bile. With great difficulty he pushed the thought out of his mind and renewed his search for potable water.

Heading towards the scream, Joseph looked down at his feet as he trekked towards the sound, occasionally glancing up at the sky, as if it would tell him where to go. It hadn't sounded too far away, and in a matter of minutes, a group of figures appeared on the horizon. Naturally, he was overjoyed at the sight of more people who happened to survive. "Over here!" he shouted towards them, not able to contain his excitement. He was too tired to break out into a run, but instead tried to move as fast as he could to where they were standing. The mysterious figures soon became clearer and clearer, allowing Joseph to recognize them. After all, they were part of his Crew, what sort of Captain would he be if he hadn't at least learned their names after sailing with them for so long? Well, perhaps he was too hung up on his title. Again, no ship, no Captain.

"My, another part of the Ship's Crew that I've found!" he exclaimed once he had reached them, "How lucky I am not to be alone here, and further to find people that I have been so fortunate to work with!" He let out a short breath, accompanied by a small smile to each of them. Running a hand through his hair as he always did, he finally took a moment to sit back and really think about their situation. As he had told himself earlier, it was definitely not a good sort of situation, and definitely one in which they would most likely not make it out of. Well, best not to think like that. Just.. Try to survive. Yeah, that's right... Survive.

Madison felt like she could pass out from the heat any moment. Not only she was thirsty, but her dress was not made for standing out in the heat, on a hot beach, barefooted. She knew she needed water and soon. Or else she could start feeling a lot worse. Her head was hurting, a small throb in the back, and her body still ached from the swimming - or lack thereof, she didn't know how - after the wreck and coming upon shore before passing out. She took a deep breath, feeling the way it hurt, the way her throat and tongue begged for relief. She only wished she could give it that relief; but drinking the ocean water would be the stupidest move she would have done by far. Besides wearing this damnable dress.

She listened to Charlie address her and smiled at him; they all were in bad shape, she didn't feel like she needed to be the only one taking breaks. Though, she understood and she did move to the shade, the sun beating down on her too much at the moment. She wiped some sweat from her brow, watching Charlie and Isak. She didn't know what to do. She had just joined the crew, this was her first trip out, and looked at what happened. She gripped her dress tighter, rose it higher as she dug her toes into the sand, feeling the coolness underneath the warmed surface. She went to make a move to follow Isak, though she was worried about leaving Charlie by his lonesome, but then she heard another voice. She knew that voice, as well.

The Captain! It was a relief to see him. "Captain!" she called, leaving the shade to get closer to him; the sun was not a welcome feeling. "How nice it is to see you. Mr. Isak has just gone inland; I believe in an attempt to find water. We all could use it." she said, using her hand to briefly fan her reddening face before returning it to hold her dress up. "I want to go with him... the trees are providing shade, even, and I'd rather not sit around, doing nothing." she didn't want to just sit around and seem helpless. She wasn't. "Perhaps you'll both join in the search?" she asked, wondering if she'd be able to find Isak now, since she was standing here and talking to Charlie and Joseph. She was afraid of getting lost, though; she didn't know how big the jungle was and was a bit afraid of it. After all, what was inside of there?
