Kyle Messor Kyle looked up, having been focused intently on tying his cleats. "Heh, yeah. I guess it is," he said, looking up at the sky. He stood up and began stretching. After a while, he looked over at Jamie. With a grin he said, "By the way, there's not a chance in hell that you score on me today," challenging him to a friendly competition. Finished stretching, Kyle took a warmup jog around the field, before Jamie had the time to respond.

Amy Snow - The cafeteria "There you are Seacliffe." Amy smiled, "I asked the professor last night about that issue we were having with conjugations. I get it now if you want me to explain it." Just as Amy turned into the line for the food she bumped into Zaylin. "Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't see you there." Amy helped her pick up her bag. "I remember seeing you around last year. Right?" Amy asked, not completely sure if her memory with faces was as good as her memory with words.

Still groggy, Zaylin strode toward the line to wait her turn to get breakfast. As she took her place, another girl bumped into her, making her lose her grip on the bag slung over her shoulder, one of the folders inside sliding out from the top. She blinked at the girl she recognized from the library as she apologized and picked her bag up for her. “Oh, thanks.” Zaylin offered a small smile as she picked up the folder. “Don’t worry about it.” She took her bag from Amy and shoved the folder back inside as the other girl continued speaking. Zaylin shook her head. “You’re probably thinking of someone else. I just transferred this year. I’ve seen you in the library a few times, though.”

James Mason James, after having taken a few photos, put his camera in his bag and walked down to the cafeteria. Whilst he was walking over to the cafeteria, he walked past the soccer field, and decided to take a few snaps. It was hard with a Polaroid, but he managed to get a couple of good shots anyway. As James walked into the cafeteria, he saw Amy, the girl who had helped him with his English. He went into the queue for breakfast, and thought about what he would say when he talked to her.

Amy Snow - The Cafeteria 7:15 am "Probably. I'm Amy Snow by the way." Amy paused. "Oh! I remember you from yesterday. One of the Wells hall girls was laughing at you." Amy blushed. "I should have said something to her, but I remember her from last year. She's really snobbish." Ash Mareinos - Swim practice 5:45am Ash slipped into the pool water. The chlorine stunk in her nose. Even with her ability to hold her breath underwater nearly indefinitely the pool water was even harder to do that in. She started swimming the endurance laps, this time actually paying attention to how she recovered. Wondering if she'd be able to teach it to the new girl, Aery.

“Zaylin. Devonshire,” Zaylin responded as Amy paused. She scowled as Amy mentioned the girl who had made fun of her in the library the other day. She wiped the look away as Amy blushed, the trio slowly making their way forward in the line. “Nah, don’t worry about it. I’m used to it.” She adjusted the strap on her shoulder. She glanced over as she noticed the girl she had met the night before, and gave a two-fingered wave. “Glad to see you made it back to campus safely.”

Amy Snow - The Cafeteria Amy got her own food and waited for the other two girls. "Would you like to sit with us?" She asked a little unsure. Amy was still getting used to the idea of even having Seacliffe sit by her. "You'll have to forgive me though if you do. I spend entirely too much time talking about homework." Back at in the Home Amy had grown up she had been told innumerable times that she was obsessed with learning and to leave the rest of the 'normal' kids alone. She had thought a school like this one she would have more of a chance of meeting people like her, but the prior year hadn't made that easy. Mostly because of rooming with Ash. Ash and her had butted heads way too much. Amy was all too happy that they barely crossed paths this year.

Zaylin followed Amy’s lead as she grabbed her own food, the voices in the cafeteria growing louder as more students filtered in. Zaylin scowled as the echoes irritated her fairly sensitive hearing. Taking a deep breath, she did her best to shake the remaining cobwebs of sleep from her mind and tune the noise out, as she had long since taught herself to do. Zaylin stopped beside Amy, a little surprised at the girl’s offer to sit with them. “Yeah, sure.” “I spend entirely too much time talking about homework.” Zaylin chuckled. “I think I can deal with that. It’ll be a nice change.” She glanced around the cafeteria. “Does there work for you?” She nodded to an empty table near an outside window.

Amy Snow "Works for me." Amy took a seat near the window. She adjusted her skirt so she could sit with one leg dangled and the other tucked under it. "So what year are you in? You said you transferred here, and we don't have any classes together. I don't think." Amy furrowed her brow. She really should pay more attention to faces. Amy shot Luca a grin, "She said she was glad to see you made it back okay. Where did you go?" Distracted with her conversation with Luca and Zaylin, Amy didn't notice that James had entered the cafeteria.

Zaylin walked in front of Amy to the table and sat down across from Amy. She let her bag slip from her shoulder to the floor as she sat her plate on the table. “No, I don’t recognize you from any of my classes, either. I’m a third year. You?” Jabbing a sausage with a fork as Amy addressed Luca, Zaylin paused, realizing she probably should not have mentioned anything regarding their lake-side meeting. She looked apologetically to Luca, before turning her attention to the breakfast plate before her.

James Mason James collected his food, and looked to see if Jamie had come back from soccer practice yet. Nope, he thought, Still not here. Jamie sighed, he still didn't know too many people, asides from people on the football team, and even then he didn't enjoy hanging out with them much. Jamie was really the only one who he would make an effort to talk to. James looked around and saw Amy, the girl from the library. He wanted to sit with her, but she was with her friends, and he didn't want to intrude. However, James did see an empty table next to her, and sat down on it, and started eating.

Kyle Messor Kyle continued his laps (making sure to carefully push Jamie off balance whenever they crossed paths) and greeted each teammate as they arrived. As he rounded the final corner of his final lap, the coach walked onto the field. "Excellent! Eager for the start of the season I see," the coach praised, speaking to both Kyle and Jamie. As he turned to the rest of the team, the enthusiastic expression faded from his face. "As for the rest of you... perhaps if you put half as much effort in as these two, then perhaps you'd benefit from it." Kyle smirked at Jamie, never one to miss out on a good telling off from the coach. Speaking to everyone now, the coach directed, "Right then, let's get to work!" One long, tiring practice session later, Kyle left the field visibly displeased. I'm never going to hear the end of that damn goal, he grumbled to himself. Despite the confidence he had shown when he challenged Jamie before practice, during the final seconds of the scrimmage he managed to score on him with an incredibly precise curved shot – Kyle had it covered, then it appeared to just curve hard into the far corner. That's just how it works though, Kyle assured himself, as it slows down the curve on the ball makes a stronger effect, and Jamie was decidedly lucky that it happened as it did. Still grumbling internally, Kyle took another quick shower then headed down to breakfast. As he got his food, he considered where he'd sit. He normally sits with the rest of the team, but sometimes sits alone. The thought of Jamie relentlessly taunting him for the entire duration of breakfast convinced him to sit alone, so he sat down at a table that was next to where Jamie's roommate – what was his name; James, I think? – and began eating his food. Hopefully, Jamie would sit either with the team or with James, but not him.

James Mason James noticed that Jamie had arrived, and when he asked why he was sitting alone, he simply replied, "Waiting for you, not much else to do." James wondered if he should make more friends, but he had Jamie, and that was good enough for him. Anyway, he thought to himself, I'm trying to get with that girl, Amy. James looked into his food, moving it about with his fork, occasionally taking one or two bites. He didn't feel too well, but wanted to make sure that he had enough energy for the day.

Amy's eyes widened. Then she said, her tone slightly impressed "Really? I haven't gone near the lake since then." Ash at that point entered the cafeteria. Her hair up in a short ponytail and still damp. She grabbed her own breakfast and sat across from Jamie. Amy turned away slightly facing Zaylin a bit more straight on so her back was to Ash, who wasn't even paying attention as she attacked her own food to eat hurriedly. "What did I miss? You look pleased with yourself." Ash asked around a bite of toast. ((@McHaggis They were rommies last year, not this year.))

Movement from a table nearby caught Zaylin’s attention just before a boy she did not recognize requested an apple, which Luca tossed to him. She looked at Amy curiously as she noticed the girl turn her back toward another who sat at the table near them, taking a moment to glance at the girl who had caused Amy's reaction. Zaylin swallowed her mouthful of food and looked slowly from Amy to Luca. “I’ve heard about that murder... Not that the entire school doesn’t know about it, or anything." She paused. "You know,” -- she pointed the prongs of her fork toward Luca -- “I never did get your name.”

"Be glad you weren't here last year." Amy told Zaylin. "Everyone was talking about it non-stop. It made the whole atmosphere of the school impossible to deal with. A lot of students left and never came back." Amy didn't add that she was almost one of those students. She had been so close to asking the Librarians back home to let her switch schools. "And they most annoyingly made it nearly impossible to be at the lake." Ash lamented, neither of the girls looked at each other. Amy rolled her eyes, but didn't say anything to Ash.

Keeping an eye on Amy as she spoke, Zaylin shoved another forkful of food into her mouth, the topic of the conversation turning to one of greater interest than she anticipated. “Yeah, that’s not surprising,” she said after swallowing her food. “I imagine most parents shy away from sending their kids to schools where students get murdered.” She looked over as the other girl interjected her own comment, noting as Amy rolled her eyes and the lack of concern the other girl apparently had for the dead. “So, you’d always go to the lake, then?” Zaylin paused, debating on whether she should ask the question that begged for freedom. “Sorry if I shouldn’t ask this, so stop me if it’s inappropriate,” she began slowly, cautiously. “But did either of you… well… see her? The rumors are just insane, and I didn’t get a chance to look for any news clippings about it before I left home, so can’t sort truth from fiction.”

Ash turned around facing Zaylin. "No I didn't only one kid here at Northwood saw her. The one who found her. Sam Rivers." She nodded over to where the boy sat by himself. Ash then took an even more dramatic tone, which Amy would have thought impossible. "He was even held for questioning by the cops." She then shrugged and turned back around "Not that anything stuck" Amy at this point looked mortified. "Helen was a sweetheart unlike some people at this school." She said her voice biting at the tension. "You'll have to excuse me. I'm going to get a book I forgot."
