"Well, the way I figure it," he started to get a handle on movement as his pace quickened, "I'm in this deep, no turning back now." The creature's tongue lashed out and wrapped around Reynar's raised arm, who grabbed the tongue and pulled with all his strength. The pull turned the monster's lung into an off-centered barreling. Not knowing exactly what to do, Rey threw his momentum into the monster's, headfirst. The crack resounded, leaving both skidding across the ground.

"Ugh," Rey grabbed his head, "head-butting monsters," he groaned. "That's an all time low." He rolled over, and slowly stumbled to his feet. The monster already got to it's feet, but now the woman was on the move, and the only thing between the creature and it's meal was Rey. It lounged, but this time it didn't care about the man, it only wanted it's meal. This left it's defenses down enough for Rey to slid in front of it and land a full punch to it's skull. "Ooooww," Rey grabbed his hand in pain, and then waved it back and forth. On it's feet again, the creature growled. With a flicked of it's wrist, Rey smacked into the wall a few feet to his left, but managed to grab the bounding monster's right foot and pull him back. Then reached for the monsters neck, and grappled him. None of it's five arms could manage to reach behind a pull him off. "Oof," breath escaped as the monster rolled onto it's back; however, Rey still grappled tightly. It's last effort was to stand and thrust backward into a wall, but Rey saw it coming and let go. Unable to halt it's momentum, it smacked against the wall the collapsed. Rey tried to remain on his feet, grabbing his knees and breathing heavily. Figuring he should check on the girl, Reynar turned and stumbled a few steps before he heard a scrapping on the ground from behind him, then a cast shadow over him.

"You've gotta be kidding me."

She quietly walked behind the figure, upon reaching an unfamiliar building. She looked up at it and grew a little unsettled; it was intimidatingly dark and the air around it was ominous.

The figure finally spoke up after the long quiet walk to this place. But it only made her more confused, she wasn't sure if the figure was talking in riddles or if they were being literal. She didn't have a chance to reply to the being as it began to suddenly move its hands across the wall. Her eyebrows furrowed as she watched the being do some sort of ritual to the wall, until suddenly it began to grow a shade of purple. Her mouth gaped in astonishment and she began to back up little by little, she didn't know what was going to happen next, Is this some sort of summoning ritual? Like on t.v.? she wondered as she stopped at a distance that felt safe.

The strange letters suddenly disappeared and a white hallway appeared before the two. That was not at all what she had expected and she sighed in relief it wasn't what she thought it'd be.

The being turned to her and gestured to go in first, at that moment she saw a part of the beings face, not much, but she noticed it had a purple eye and a covered eye, she wondered why the other was covered and if the other had anything to do with the purple symbols from previously. She was quiet for a moment but quickly dismissed the curiosity of asking as it was none of her business.

Melissa complies to the beings request and she proceeds cautiously into the hallway; absorbing the transition from the dark and ominous building to this completely white and cold hallway.

Corwin walked into a huge room filled by lofty chairs and large tables scattered around a wide metal tablet at the center. Signs with glowing red letters that would've normally directed patients around the wards are now decommissioned and left for disrepair.

This former hospital's exquisite meeting room now acts as the main "Transference Platform", or TP for short, for the agents who wish to converge forward into the continent. It may seem empty now, but today is actually an extremely rare event. One of the longstanding Detached Souls has finally ascended into "Reaper" status, and as such, the Redemption is holding a special celebration for the individual. Most of the agents chose to take the free day off, but for Corwin and his crew, it wasn't that simple. They were told to gather as many potential candidates for the upcoming event as they could

Corwin just sighed at the fact he'd be missing some time to go and meet some new girls to enjoy the holiday with. Instead, he was stuck in this abandoned hospital waiting for a cranky captain to return from their half of the trek.

His lazily eyes scanned the empty entrances that lead to even emptier hallways. A catastrophe had forced the mortals to leave this place behind, but even the details were classified from him. Whatever, it didn't really matter to him.

Though, some say that the poor souls caught in the event still walk the halls, but neither Corwin or any of his team has sensed anything unusual about this place even after so long. He was glad that it was peaceful at least.

The radiant light sockets in the ceiling weren't distracting enough to keep him from resting, but actually made it hard to even feel tired. Despite that, he walked up to one of the seats and exhaled a soft yawn before plopping down onto the furry cushion. The sensation was surprisingly pleasant, causing the man's eyes to perk up. It was nearly a lost luxury with what's happened lately; the feeling of ease.

But just when he was beginning to get comfortable, a loud ripping filled the air, jolting him from his position. It was the unmistakable sound of a rift being opened. From the trajectory, it would've opened in the Southern hallway.

A thought shook in his mind, Oh shit...

Jumping up, Corwin's eyes looked about in panic. He was moving here and there trying to think of something to do, finally deciding to pick up a random book from the tables around. It was nothing new that his captain was the type to scold someone if they were just lounging around instead of "doing something productive", but the excruciatingly long-winded lectures as consequence was something he'd very much like to cut out. Directing his focus onto the book, he made sure to look like he was deep in thought while still kept tab out of the corner of his eye. As suspected, from his captain's tendencies, the first one through was an unfamiliar girl.

Not half bad... she's pretty cute. he judged, taking a mental note to talk to her privately later.

He was expecting at least another to show, but the next was his symbolically robed captain, signalling that was the last to enter through. The purple rift sealed shut right after, and only the two were left near the entrance of the hallway.

Immediately, the dark figure turned to the man and called out, "Faking work again Corwin? Tsk. How many times do we have to discuss the notion of taking breaks while on the job?"

Corwin then made the widest grin he could, "What do you mean, Mrs. Cap? I've always had an interest in..." pausing to quickly glance at the book cover, "How Morse code isn't any help to deaf Peo-"

Cutting him off with a stern raised hand, "Enough, we'll deal with this later." the figure said, moving forward, "Has Sir Mark returned from his expedition into the city?"

"Nope, he's been out for a while." Corwin said, tossing the book off to the side, seeing as he didn't need it anymore, "But knowing him, he'll be fine. I mean, what's the worst that can happen to him?"

The dark figure shook it's head in disagreement at Corwin's careless comment, "I do hope so, the time of the Spirit Passage is near..."

...

A pair of claws rapidly dug unto Reynar's shoulders, piercing another wound into the man. The creature then emitted a long hiss, and a heavy tugging brought him to his knees. But instead of the harsh snickering voice following another taunt; a calm, smooth male's spoke up.

"Phew, looks like it's your lucky day! If I hadn't hadn't been tracking this Demon- " a sudden realization layered the voice, "Wait... I shouldn't have said that..."

The man muttered something else to himself before a sound of flesh tearing filled the alleyway. A light violet light flashed just for a second before the alleyway was again covered in the growing shadows of nightfall. From Reynar's peripheral vision, the creature can be seen fallen onto the cold cement. It's chest was torn open, and a black liquid seemed to writhe from the wound. A rapid chain reaction transpired, starting from the edges of the gaping cut, the flesh tearing and burning upon itself. In moments the beast seemed to just disappear in a wisp of darkness, as though it never existed. Though the smell of the damp charcoal remaining would point otherwise.

The woman was sitting in a stricken mess at the side of the wall, seeming to be lost to what was happening around her.

"Now, if you'll excuse me... I have to send her off." The strange man muttered to Reynar, coming over and crouching beside her.

He, or one would even call she, faced the woman with solemn eyes, which seemed to give off a dim violet haze. She didn't seem to notice the feminine-looking man, still shaking as she remained covering her face.

Raising a hand, he gently pressed two forefingers against her shoulder, "I have set before you, life and death; both blessings and curses. Let me send you off, so that the cycle may live on."

A look of peace seemed to cross her face right as her body began to break away, like a statue made of sand. Each tiny speck then blossomed into that of bright yellow energy. Soon she was gone, and in her place was a sphere of this beautiful yellow essence. Stepping back, the man watched as it was then blown up into the sky, as though pulled up by the wind.

Reynar heaved himself up, unable to look away from what ever had just occurred before him. It seemed altogether beautiful, tragic, yet immensely hopeful. He'd never seen anything like it. It was almost perfect, and much closer than he'd ever gotten. His eye flicked back to the man as his shoulders rose and fell heavily with each breath, gaping, unblinking. Finally everything washed over him at once and he couldn't contain it, "What," he started barely louder that a whisper, "What was that?" his said a bit louder. "What happened? Who are you? What was that thing? And why...WHY am I, is THIS lucky?" He'd inched closer to the man, looking him in his all-too-calm face. He couldn't handle it, the thought of death, and monsters, and whatever this world had hidden from him all his short life. He looked to the man for answers that he knew the man had.

Then something dawned on him: If he was dead, "Where is she?"

The man made a light grin, his purple eyes glimmering, "I'm glad you're so eager to learn. All of this is just a little trick we learn to keep alive."

But despite the amiability, he moved down the alleyway with a swift wave of his hand, "But this place is too dangerous to be standing around talking." His eyes glancing up to the tall pavement rooftops casually as his tone abruptly grew cold, "There could be more of them... If you want to know more, follow me."

Humming a short tune, he crossed a few steps out then suddenly spins around, his pointing finger raised up in realization, "Oh wait!"

Turning directly to Reynar, he opened his palm to the man. The air around began to distort wildly before a piece of parchment, with intricate markings sprawl all along the sides appeared from nothing.

His eyes were dead-center on Reynar, the glowing pupils nudging him with a sense of haste, "Here hold onto this Talisman. As of now, you're just a spirit, and without it your current body will quickly break down and lose form. Once we return to the city, we can get you a proper one."

Jessie laid down on the bed. The mattress was hard and the sheets were too thin to keep him warm from the cold night air. His body shook for warmth under the sheets. Oh he thought as he moved to close the still open window next to him. The window shut, the room was warmer now, warm enough to rest comfortably. Jessie drifted into sleep away from the stresses of the world.

The white light was blinding. Jessie held his hand up to his eyes so he can get a better view of where he was. The room had yellow walls with tiny floral designs, knickknacks sat upon a shelf in the corner of the room while a large screen television was suspended in the middle of the wall opposite of Jessie. Jessie pushed the fluffy covers off of him and sat at the edge of the bed. The bed had an dark brown mahogany frame, the sheets sported tropical orange, green, and brown from the patches of squares. Jessie rubbed his eyes. He yawned and stretched his arms. A feeling of ease coursed through his body as his muscles tensed and relaxed from the stretches. A voice called out to him, "Good morning babe, breakfast is ready!" Jessie's smile spread across his face, excited for the bacon that he was about to consume. "I'm coming, honey!" he yelled back. Jessie jumped out of bed and reached for his shorts, put there last night, on the floor. Jessie looked at the full body mirror near him as he put a leg through the shorts. He sighed at how "unmanly" he looked. Psh, who cares right? he thought to himself as his other leg went through. Shorts on, but chest bare, Jessie strode through the door.

As the door opened, the tropical light from the sun was replaced with a white florescent light bulb. The hallway was empty, with a few unoccupied gurneys littering the area. Confused, Jessie immediately put his hands to his cranium, a vain attempt stop the pain. A sharp white noise coursed through his ears and brain. His eyes closed shut, he stood there at the doorway to his medical room until the pain went away.

Corwin felt a strange feeling creep up his body as he walked down the long corridor. Luckily, they had all agreed to set up right at the medical wing, or else it would've been a pain to walk back and forth through the entire facility. Taking quick rifts from section to section was his personal preferred method, but they were known to disrupt some of the magical equipment used around. That never stopped him, nor did the constant marks and scoldings from his superiors, even with his explanation of choosing "rather safe places to open rifts."
Though despite repeatedly breaking such a rule, Corwin chose to spell away his tendencies after hearing news of particularly failed "Purge" operations. The amount of injured that come around those days was something he'd rather not think about. Interfering with their recovery because of pure laziness was a much worse feeling to Corwin than the long treks just to get from one place to another in the facility.

The man shook his head roughly, trying to rid the chilling feeling, causing some of his blonde hair to fall loose from his hat. Sighing, he pulled of the beanie and began fixing the hair when he spotted a certain shirtless man stumble out of his room at the end of the white hallway.

Smiling, he muttered to himself, "Looks like he's up... just in time too."

Immediately the man sped up the casual walk into a short jog, "Hey, did you have enough sleep?" he called out, waving his hand overhead, "We're about to head out soon!"

After the splitting headache faded away, Jessie opened his eyes. He saw his bare chest.

"Hey, did you have enough sleep?" A voice called out to his right.

Jessie turned his head and saw Corwin. His thick gray winter coat slightly fluttered behind him as Corwin jogged his way toward the confused man.

"We're about to head out soon!" Corwin explained.

Jessie felt a wave of embarrassment from being under dressed, but tried to hide it as best as he can. His left and unconsciously grabbed his right forearm in a futile attempt to hide his nudity.

"Oh, uh let me get ready then." Jessie replied

Jessie went back into his temporary room and shuts the door. He gave of a sigh and proceeded to look for his clothes where ever they are. He didn't even remember taking them off! He found his clothes on the floor leading to the door. Hastily he puts them on. He noticed the box that Corwin left on the nightstand near the bed. The gun, huh? He did say it was mine. I guess I should take it He thought to himself. He walked over to the gun and opened the box. The Colt M19 laid there. Bolts of crackling red and black seemed to course through the demonic gun. Ornate designs of some ancient culture riddled the handle and barrel. A shoulder hostler was also packed in the box. Jessie strapped on the hostler and put his colt into it. As Jessie put his arms through the sleeves of his favorite flannel, he walked out of the his room to see Corwin leaning against a wall still waiting for him. Corwin's right hand rubbed his chin, while he looked down on the floor thinking about something. Corwin notices Jessie walk out the door. He catches a glimpse of the gun hidden under Jessie's flannel as he puts it on.

"Come on, this way." Corwin says turning toward the end of the hallway. Jessie nods.

Jessie closes the door silently making sure to not slam it and catches up to Corwin. The two proceed to walk together.

Melissa continued into the hallway cautiously, noticing that there was another person in it. She ignored the man and continued to walk further into the hallway until the figure behind her spoke out to the man, "Corwin". She began to slow down to keep them from having to stop their conversation together, only taking small steps further into the hallway.

From the way the conversation was going between the pair, she can tell that the man was getting one of his many scoldings from his superior. She kept from making any eye contact with the man as it was a little painful to watch someone who was being scolded at. But the being suddenly decided to forget about it and began to move forward again.

She went back to her previous pace feeling a little out of place as they began to talk to each other casually about things she didn't understand. It made her feel more uncomfortable about where she really was. She still had many questions and she still doesn't fully understand what's going on. From what she heard them just say, someone's been hurt and she doesn't know what could have happened. And to make her worry any further, the being behind her brought up something called the "Spirit Passage", which in the way it was said sounded like something bad was about to happen. She felt a shiver go down her spine as she believed something bad was about to happen to her too, her body visibly shaking in this completely white hallway.

She continued to tread down the hallway still afraid of what's to come; she wondered, How much worse can this get..? I'm already dead... She knew that there was no way for her to escape this and she knew she had to keep going, even if she was afraid.

The dark figure turned to the girl as Corwin exited the room, the shadows still covering it's face, "Do you have anymore questions? We have a short while, and wasting it on idle chatter is meaningless."

The robes shifted fleetingly as the being looked at the girl for a second, it's hands slowly rising up to edges of the dark hood, "I sense fear in you..." it said, pulling back the cloth, "But you are not alone..."

As the head cover was cast back, the purple eye from before began to glimmer as the lustrous lights from above reflected off. Surprisingly, a female was the owner of the low husky voice. But within the relative enclose space of the room the voice sounded much lighter in places. Bangs laid place over the woman's slim, arched eyebrows. Her pale yellow hair, while shoulder length at the front, had clips holding a folds of the long locks behind her head. The one eye stared carelessly at the girl, the metal plating on the right side of her face covering a fourth of her soft features. What appeared to be once a fair lady, was now someone who was constantly stiff-lipped and cold.

"There are others... just like you, taken from the dead. Sometimes they come everyday..." The woman spoke, her voice lower than usual, "But other times, there are months before we find one that can carry on our task."

...

Corwin walked down the hallway, scratching his chin out of habit again, "So, you've made up your mind about the gun?" he muttered, his eyes glancing briefly back to the man.

He turned to the man with a timid grin, "Ah, I forgot to ask earlier, what's your name?"

The amount of times he's forgotten something so simple and obvious was just plain uncanny. Once, Corwin forgot to bring a crucial ingredient for a high-grade exorcism seal one time and delayed an entire operation for about 3 hours. Oh, the chastising he received that day was one he still remembers the terror of. While they felt awful at first, remembering back to those moments always brought a smile at how plain stupid he must've looked. He always tried his best though, even if people didn't believe so.

They were crossing the long hallway, passing by some rooms that had windows, but the darkness within them only exposed shadows and vague stilled shapes. The two were coming to the end, and Melissa with the robed figure, now hood removed, can now be seen.

A quizzical look passed over Reynar, but he hesitantly took the bizarre item in the man's hand. He looked at the item; it's ancient appearance and strange runic markings only helped in making Rey more confused and untrusting of the man. However, this man had answers, and that spurred Reynar to following almost without hesitation.

He couldn't stop the questions from crashing through his mind, recklessly breaking down anything he believed to know. Anything that he thought life was, this place was not, and in that it truly seemed fitting as the world of death. All he could do is get swept up in it, and it made him feel weak, helpless. This man, though, whistled away, carelessly. As Reynar followed, he couldn't help but get the feeling that this was just the beginning. At that thought his heart sank.

"I'd rather just not exist," he said under his breath. The only glimpse of light to break the dark world that gripped him was the possibility of her.

"Where are we going?"

The man chuckled at the man's sudden response after being so still for what seemed whole minutes, his purple eyes lighting up, though just shortly. It was something he saw about the man.

He faced Reynar, his eyes giving off a low haze inside the shadows that illuminated a small grin, "To exist is to have awareness, right...?" he said, then abruptly turning around to begin walking down the alleyway, "Even if we're aware of what happens around us, what more is a life we don't wish to continue?"

The sound of heels pattering down on cement acted as though a short countdown while the man gave Reynar time to take everything in before he answered anyways,

"Reason."

His voice was light as his footsteps came to a halt, "I can feel it within you... realizing the truth of death. You've regained hope in continuing your existence."

"...But let me ask you this." He says, turning his head to the side, "Wherever we go doesn't matter right now; the real question is what you will do with the new life you've been handed? This second chance?"

Not realizing the man heard his muttered words, Reynar felt heat rise into his chest. It felt like anger, embarrassment, and strangely, gratitude. The man saw the potential for something Reynar thought had long escaped reach, but humility wasn't something he knew how to express.

Stopping as the man did, Reynar listened, watching with a strange mix of curiosity and annoyance. What will you do with this second chance? The answer seemed obvious, but just as quick as his mind jumped to lost love, it moved toward something else, something unexpected, a beautiful yellow light. Then the thought was cast out; he had one priority.

"Look," Reynar said with a sigh, "Whatever your sellin', I'm not buying," as he continued walking.

The man emerged from the long, winding alleyway first, looking back and grinning at Reynar's tone, "I don't plan selling you anything. It was just an offer."

"I'm here to make sure people who have potential are given the chance to fulfill it." he added before turning and walking through the street carelessly, his eyes only occasionally scanning the darkness between strides. In spite of his calm tone, he knew he wouldn't be able to waste anymore time just talking in riddles.

Upon reaching the other side, coming to the front of local convenience store. Looking inside, he saw the vague outlines of mortals moving about, but for Reynar, it was just empty like everything else.

He stopped and called back to Reynar, "And we're here!" immediately placing a hand upon the wall, he closed his eyes, his face following with a look of tenseness. The air around his finger began to ripple, but after a moment, he opened them in confusion, "Uh..."

Jessie looked down to the floor lost in countless thoughts as the duo walked down the hall. One. Two. One. Two. His footsteps matched his counting in order to distract himself from more stressful thoughts. His shoes were dirty. Black marks stained the white parts on his shoe. He always did like to have his stuff clean. It bothered him and he made a mental note to clean it once he leaves these people after thanking them for taking care of him.

"So, you've made up your mind about the gun?" Corwin muttered.

Jessie quickly glanced up to meet Corwin's eyes as he glanced backward. Jessie was surprised that Corwin knew he held the gun even though it was concealed under his jacket.

"...yea. I guess I should hold on to it. I did kinda find it.." Jessie replied unsure what to say to the blonde man ahead of him.

"Ah, I forgot to ask earlier, what's your name?" Corwin asked with a smile as he spun around to face Jessie.

I never did say my name huh, well I don't really know him. Seems like a nice guy though. It should be fine to tell him my name I guess Jessie thought to himself.

"Oh, uh I'm Jessie." Jessie said while rubbing the back of his head. He gave of a slight grin.

Corwin returned the smile with one of his own and spun on his heels back to the path ahead. The dilapidated hospital was quiet. Room after room, Jessie would pass all unoccupied. Was I the only patient in this damn hospital? Jessie's gaze would alternate between the dark empty rooms, the floor, and the back of Corwin's grey coat. Lost in unimportant thoughts again, Jessie was surprised to see that at the end of the hall were two women. Woah Jessie thought as he glanced at the battle-hardened woman with a purple eye. Her blonde hair was clipped up while strands of pale yellow would flow down to her shoulders. Jessie noticed her feminine curves, but only glanced at her body once. The smaller woman was a brunette. She looked like she just got out of school. Weird, I didn't think the afterlife would have schools. The brunette looked confused or frustrated maybe? Jessie wasn't sure. Jessie also glanced at the school girl's body. She seemed toned and lean. Maybe she enjoyed P.E. The boys reach the two girls standing there.

He did it again; the man acted like Reynar had something special. Rey had seen special in his life, and it wasn't himself. With that comment the somber young man gave an unbelieving huff. As they made their way through the cityscape, he stopped for a second as the stranger entered the rather random convenient store, giving it a curious look before following after. Maybe he just wants a kitkat bar? though he wonder if spirits could even eat the copious amount of junk found in that place.

Finally after the man's proclamation, "We're where? Reynar asked. After an odd display that seemed to build tension in the air, and then climax with the unsure "uh".

"What do you mean 'uh'. What are you doing?"

Constantine walks up the steps to the hospital tapping the bottom of his cigarette carton, after finally reading his mission orders he found out he was supposed to meet some people here. Before dropping and stomping out the dying cigarette in his mouth he uses its sparks to make a flame from his fingertip to light the new one. He stomps out his old one and walks through the open door. He looks around the white room, his dark eyes looking for anything out of the ordinary. He spots a chair directly under a no-smoking sign. He laughs to himself and puffs out flames along with his smoke. I would have preferred being in my own squad, I can kill things no problem. He sits there by the door figuring, either his new squad will leave through the door or come back through it at this point. He looks through his backpack and notices he has enough cigarettes to keep him happy for now.

A tall woman, donning nothing more than a pair of jeans and a dark gray sweater emerges from the side door that was labeled "Do not Enter - Authorization Required" with a long winded yawn. She stretched her arms, and twisted her back a few times, her deep red eyes blinking a few times. There wasn't nearly enough time to finish the day's mission planning, and what's left was going to be nothing short of "winging it." Their mission this time wasn't exactly a walk in the park when it came to safety, but that was almost a good thing for her. Danger was an element that made anything more exciting. She walked down this hall and that, passing through sections of the white building until she came into a room that had no door at all. Above the entrance was a sign that read "Common Room."

If it wasn't obvious, this was part of the facility where agents would take a break and rest before going off to do whatever next. It wasn't nearly as bleak as the rest of the huge structure, and there were many tables with coffee machines among other refreshments, along with couches and sofas allotted around the fairly big room. Hell, there were even a few large monitors on the walls for agents to watch shows and such. Though, she wasn't interested in any of that and proceeded right towards the fridges, opening one up and scanning the contents thoroughly.

Her eyes squinted when her search took a little too long, "I could've sworn I put one in here the other day..." she muttered irritably.

But just then, her lips lined into a grin as she reached out and picked out a large bottle, "Ah! There it is."

She uncorked it with her hands and took a sniff, taking pleasure in the bitter stench of alcohol, then merrily taking a long swig. Releasing a sigh of satisfaction, she proceeded out of the room in a careless stride.

Shortly coming into one of outer rooms towards the main transference platform, she noticed a sketchy-looking man was sitting idly on a chair. The woman breathed once, immediately recognizing the smell of smoke, assuming the box he was tapping was the cigarettes. She bore a slight grin, deciding that he was the new addition she's been told about, she sat down on the chair right beside him. A man like that was bound to bring trouble, and keeping other members on their toes was going to be interesting to watch. Of course, if things were to get sour, she'll have to do something. But until then, she was going to at least test the waters with the man.

"Hey there." she said, looking at him for a long moment before looking down and pointing her bottle over, "Oh, where are my manners. Would you like a drink?"

...

The man pulled back to a stand, his eyes glancing around rapidly, "Well... when rifts don't work... that's a bad sign. I thought there was a good 30 minutes before the Passage...?"

He didn't wait for a response before placing his back against the wall, "I'd suggest you use this, no questions. And for the sake of our lives, don't step out of the line." he said as a small cloth bag was produced from a burst of twisted nothingness in his hands. It seemed to be filled with a loose solid, and sagging slightly in his palms.

He grabbed some of the contents and dribbled it over his head, revealing it to be some sort of white powder. Getting another handful, he tossed it in a circle around the two, creating a sort of perimeter. The man breathed slowly, as if he was scared the sound was going to reveal their positions.

The purple haze in his eyes faded for a moment and he looked at Reynar with a clear concern, "By any chance, did you happen to have learned how to kill demons when you were alive?"

"Would you like a drink?" She asks him.
Listening to her voice ring through his ears, the first voice he's heard that wasn't in his head in some time. Smelling the alcohol and his cigarette smoke filling the room Is this a hospital or a bar? Constantine thought to himself.

Despite being twenty-one the only habit he's really picked up was smoking, and even then only for the convenience of it being a great muse for his nature. He takes a long drag of his cigarette and blows the smoke away from her face. He tries to form a smiling realizing he's probably looking rather unfriendly.

He grabs the bottle and takes a swig, before handing it back to her. He can't really taste anything besides the burn as it goes down. He doesn't need to drink he just didn't want to seem like a complete ass. He goes back to smoking, and while exhaling the next smoke cloud he asks, "So what's your name I only read enough to know that I should probably come here first, are you part of my new squad?" As he blows out the smoke he makes smoke rings and has little fire dragons jump through them before turning back to his default frown.

Before she's able to ask her next question he blurts out, "Drinking on the job, I guess I'm not the only screwed up reject this place has to offer." He laughs at his own joke realizing it could be interpreted as an insult. If she doesn't end up on my squad why even pretend to be nice, when I know I'm not.

She watches him take the drink, laughing softly when he tried to smile as he only managed a terribly awkward expression. Even if he was somewhat stiff, at least he had some form of manners.

He didn't seem to enjoy the drink nearly as much as she would, quickly returned to his smoke and handing the bottle back. But that didn't bother her, everyone had their own preferences, just as long as they didn't tell her what to do herself. Flickering lights had caught her eye, the woman turning to see the man performing a small flame trick with the smoke while asking her the question of her name.

She grinned, showing appreciation to his style, speaking under her breathe, "...So you're also a fire user."

His last comment made her smirk, "Drinking on the job?" she scoffed, "Here, I make the rules of conduct.

She looks at him with a playful sternness before quickly extending a hand to the man, her slim, pale fingers lined with callous, "Welcome aboard, I'm the leader of this little group of rejects. When you're dead long enough and constantly surrounded by fucking demons that want nothing more than to see you ripped limb from limb, you can't help but end up a little screwed up." she suddenly began to laugh, lifting the bottle to her lips and finishing the rest off, "Plus, without a little bit of this, I wouldn't have enough energy to pick myself up in the morning."

"The name's Anelle, I think yours is Constantine, right?" she finally answered looking back at him with one eye, the deep red iris glowing slightly, like a dying ember.

"You're actually pretty well known around these parts." Anelle muttered, closing her eyes and leaning her head back against the chair's cushioned top railing, "You've caused quite the commotion when you were found. Not a lot of people are half-breeds and manage to keep that dark side of them in place. I would know, I've put a couple down a few times."
