Just thought I'd make some notes about the current scenery and story, partially to organize my own thoughts:
Each of the trees had a face peeking out from the trunk. They were not living faces, but masks: white masks that seemed to be growing out of the bark. Each tree only had one mask, and each mask represented a different animal: a wolf, a badger, a deer, a hawk, a bear. One touch might release the mask from the tree, so delicately were they attached.
Each of the masks is made of white wood and covers only the top half of the face. Tyaelaem is wearing a rabbit mask in the same style. Talan took the wolf, and now there's a tiger in its place. It's only recently occurred to me that a fox would be a logical addition, maybe in place of the badger which makes less sense. xD There is currently no light anywhere -- maybe a few straggling fireflies. Simon's torch is the only source of light. Anise can see just fine as long as she has the nightstick. The water of the stream is very reflective and glimmers in the light. Tyaelaem is in possession of a water bottle full of the healing water. On the ground are the skinnings and entrails of Talan's mutilation of the dead monkeybats. More monkeybats are hiding in the trees but won't attack anymore. It has been many hours since you all arrived, and so far there has not been a single glimmer of sunlight. There are more people in the forest who wear masks, who call themselves Kith. There are others who are familiar with clockwork and runes and shooting at people with arrows, who call themselves the Resistance but the Kith call them Pirates. The lantern is made of iron and was forged by the Resistance/Pirates. The Kith -- and the animals of the forest, and anyone who is wearing a mask -- are burned by iron. They consider iron taboo and evil. This is why Tyaelaem made Hania throw away her iron rosary. The Kith also cannot make the runes work. But the Kith have other, potentially formidable abilities, and protection from the forest if they learn to take advantage of them. So, essentially, these are the important factors to consider: It has been a very long night with no sign of morning. People with masks can't use runes or iron tools but are safe in the forest and have access to a variety of forest-based abilities (they are also fair game to any Pirates who like shooting Kith on sight). People who choose to be able to use rune spells, tools, and iron will be subjected to the wrath of the forest but may find some very interesting enchanted/useful objects on the way. The Kith and the Pirates hate each other with a deadly passion. Also you all should probably be feeling a bit hungry and/or tired by now. The healing water should help a lot, but something to think about. ;) Aaaaaalso. Shall we advertise for new characters to join in?

Oh man... That's actually part of my issue with my next post I guess... I don't know if Anise is going to put on the deer (cuz that's what she'd chose) mask or not. I mean this brings her down to a choice of risking danger in the forest and with the Kith or be neither Kith nor Resistance and yet still use the nightstick. Not that she knows this information. The nightstick is kind of a safety thing for her and she is quite attached to it. I don't think she'll ever join the Resistance since Tyaelaem promised to help her get back home. I also don't know if she'll ever put on any mask. I'm cool with new people! This definitely feels like an RP that'd be quite happy pulling new people in at any point of the story. EDIT: WOOOOOO broke my writer's block!

Yaayyy drewccapp! Woohoo! I've just -- finally -- edited/updated the first post of the OOC. A few of the stricter rules were removed, as were any references to teams. More specifically, it's shinier. I've also dangled some bait for any potential new players. We shall see!

I think its a little sad how many people have come and gone from the RP. Was looking at the limbo and graveyard hiders. This is my longest and most active RP that I currently am a part of.

So glad you've stuck around, Red! Hopefully there will be much more to come. To be honest, while the site was down more often than it was up -- and it wouldn't stay up long enough to post -- I seriously considered abandoning it, myself. You guys kept me going. ;)

Question @Mokley After Talan put on the mask would he have been able to take it off by himself ?

Good question! The answer is yes -- it's not sealed or anything. Technically if you wanted to knock off Tyaelaem's mask, you could easily do so. He'd be a bit mad though.

Edit: Finished ~Alice ~~~~~~~
Name: Eveline Lancer Age: 17 Appearance: A small girl of lithe build, even after years of picking and pruning wild flowers her hands have remained smooth and soft. Standing around 5'6" she's rather lanky and has been know as a fast runner. Probably from the long summers spent in the forest with her mother. Besides that her physic is rather unremarkable unless you count her obscure blue hair and blue eyes stark contrast against her pale skin. Occupation: Florist Personality: 'Let us dance in the sun, wearing wild flowers in our hair and let us huddle together as darkness takes over. We are at home amidst the birds and the trees, for we are children of nature.' They call Eveline a wild child, a changling, that she belongs with the fairyfolk of old. A happy child since birth, she's always seem the brightness in the world especially in the flowers. A giddy child, some would say she was touched in the head for her happy demeanour seemed to be her only trait. She spends her time skipping around with a flower crown and handing out flowers with a gentle smile on her face as if there was nothing wrong with the world. Yet Eveline is very observant, she watches and doesn't talk at most she'll tilt her head and smile or frown childishly in dispute. She hates modern things preferring to transverse the forest near her homes and take from nature, so is slightly frightened of metal tools and sciences. History: They say the girl was born to a hedgewitch in the forest, a witch of the wilds, a herb dealer, the one you call to save your failing wife, the midwife of the peasant folks. Her father was a gypsy they say, a wandering man who loved life and found the joy in the simplest things. A broad boisterous man, with a hearty laugh and a healthy appetite for many a thing. His wit was only matched with his quick hands, taking woman's purses and heart with an easy grace. Such a strange outcome the girl was, a flower child, they say she was born in a fairy circle, a gift from the forest and the young witch mother did little to dispel the rumors about her and her babe. A glimpse of superstitious in a barren town, to far from the kingdom to be told of newer things, they cling to the old and ancient believing the rumors and myths. Silly Mortals~ So the child grew up on the village fringes learning basic trades and letters but spent most of her time in the forest learning plants and flowers from her mother taking them into the village to sell and trade. And so the years passed in this manor and the girl grew into a teenager humming softly she walked down the roads a hand waving at the approaching caravan, it was fall and trade season they always came this time of year and she had still yet to figure out her farther or if he actually existed.

Name: Robin D'Arques Age: 18 Appearance: Completely androgynous. Olive skinned (from her mother) and green eyes (from her father). She's 5' 5'' and has the lean physique of a runner due to her profession; the more mail she distributes, the more money she makes. Has short, messy brown hair which she keeps under a dark gray cap, and often wears simple trousers, a tunic, and hardy boots. Occupation: Mail Runner Personality: Generally quiet and hyper sensitive to her environment, but is coarse and foul mouthed to those she becomes comfortable with. Because of this, she can be slightly off putting to those she meets, but doesn't mind. A true introvert, she likes to spend time alone or with a few group of people she enjoys being around. She has a quick wit and an even faster reflex, but lacks in people skills and academic strength. Has a keen sense of wanderlust, which she attributes to her father, but is much more careful than he. History: Robin was raised in the poorer part of the city with her aunt and cousin after her father left to pursue riches in the east with the promise of "making our dreams come true! I'll be back!" Robin's father is a French traveling merchant who has always chased his dreams, despite having no record of success or measure of cautiousness. It was that lack of restraint that led him to marry her mother, a gypsy he encountered while traveling. With time and the disillusionment towards the romanticism of settling down with a family, the two parents agreed to split and leave Robin with her father's aunt, a stern and austere innkeeper. Her aunt took baby Robin in, familiar with her brother's whimsical nature, and raised Robin as if she was her own--with unwaivable sternness. Her father has visited a few times, always with tales of foreign lands. Both Robin and her cousin, whom she grew up with, were put to work in the inn since day one. Robin never liked the monotonous work, so when she was 11, she found other work as a mail runner and heaved the inn work on her cousin. There, she found herself in a group of "street runners" who would often compete to see who could deliver the most mail in a select amount of time. It was with them that she learned how to run. With time, the nooks and crannies of the city became familiar, the street urchins her teachers, and her feet her breadwinner. Family and running are the most precious things to her. More will be fleshed out in the RP!
