As far as ideas go, it'd be cool to see anti-air airships. Basically small ships meant to fly under enemy airships and shoot the hell out of them. If an airship is harassing someone's position from really high up, a few of these anti-air ships could be deployed to fly up and shoot up at it (from underneath them). If the enemy ship gives chase, they could just fly back down, shooting up at it the whole way, and split up to make themselves harder targets.

As long as you promise to not ram my pseudo-Turks up the ass with mechanized infantry or modern technology of any sort that follows the advent of animal husbandry, then sure, that sounds perfect.

Wrote this 7 hours ago "Ever the skeptics, the General staff questioned the cost effectiveness of a purely Elan based, pure flying ship. A hybrid airship/boat with a change of propellers (the engines cannot tolerate high RPMs, so a very large propeller is needed in the air) could travel by air or sea, land just about anywhere, and would have a longer range. This is the basis of the Falcon class, an interceptor/scout fleet defender designed to conserve Elan. ~Falcon Class Air Destroyer (40): Displacement: 235 metric tons. Armor: None Vertical Propulsion: 34 meter diameter spherical rigid helium balloon. Powerplant: Approx 3000 kW triple expansion steam engine. Sea speed: 27 knots Airspeed: Theoretically capable of insanely faster speeds, speeds of 33 knots are about the max unless in the middle of combat due to the intense windspeeds making walking on the deck difficult. When everyone is at batttlestations, sheltered from the winds, speeds of 60 knots are not unheard of. Armament: ~1 QF 12 pounder ~3 QF 6 pounder ~4 QF 1 pounder autocannon"

Keyguy, mind if in my app I mention that the Empire of Shanat already has a trade deal for Elan with Vanjanna?

Keyguy, that brings up a million more inconsistencies in the world, seeing as a larger atmosphere would almost certainly have a massive effect on evolution, and as such flora and fauna would be super different.
Well, obviously, this is actually a human colony founded after we screwed up the Earth. Flawless argument.

Nope, if you want a trade deal, you're gonna have to talk to the King of Vanjana IC. So get ready to suck up until you want to kill yourself.

"They say to not hold out for miracles. Well I say keep on believing." Said Keyguyperson, showing off his newly developed nards to an applauding audience. Where there was once a smooth space were now roughly cantaloupe sized family jewels. “It has taken me some 15 years of life, but I finally know the joys of having testicles to speak of. It has transformed me. Not only can I tell Duck 'no, cut that shit out', but I can sag them low, wave them to and fro, tie 'em in a knot, and tie 'em in a bow." But it only gets better for this lucky individual! Keyguyperson was excited to learn that he is now capable of procreation. When asked what he'll name his firstborn child, he replied, "I've decided he (or she) will be named ASTA, so that I may beat him continually and keep him locked in my cupboard, sustaining him on a diet exclusively consisting of watery millet."
You get Keyguy points for having the most creative "Keyguy has balls now" post. I've been keeping count. I now have more balls than a Krogan, with three pairs.

Expect the IC post to be up at some point tomorrow. Would write it up now but I'm running on an hour of sleep and have an exam in the morning. Keep your peepers popped.

Wouldn't it be better to just have better anti-air emplacements?

Ground emplacements are going to have trouble hitting airships that are hanging around beyond their effective range.

Its by and large a Doctrinal thing methinks. Nations who put greater stock in their armies will work to develop more powerful anti-air batteries. Nations with powerful air fleets probably have dedicated interceptors for smaller craft (think flying gunboats, which going off of that I could see Boerd's rocket barges filling a similar role to Torpedo boats of the air if they swap for fewer and larger rockets depending on who they're firing upon) and can also simply force a fight in the sky against their own air fleet.

My destroyers are pretty capable of that. Despite what the art would tell you (It's not like I commissioned it), those smaller turrets have a 360 degree rotational range and can point directly up if needed. The larger ones are (Again, despite the art) capable of pointing about 70 degrees upwards and have the same rotational range as the other turrets. Obviously, the rotational range is subject to the fact that the hull exists, so 360 degrees is only the theoretical range, not the functional range.

My Northern Birds are excellent at STARTING THE IC SECTION. Just kidding: The Northern Birds are all about mass bombardment of land positions and far away Airships. To be honest they suck in close aerial combat and rely entirely on long range firepower. Personally I don't plan on even using airships too much besides for larger battles, the North has a handsome supply of manpower that can take casualties.

Cannot stress enough that this first IC post is going to mostly be meaningless "setting the stage" stuff. So start writing up your IC posts. I'm just gonna reserve the first spot for myself while I type it up.
