As roleplayers, we are probably more equipped than anyone to come up with cool new concepts for games, and I personally roleplay to fill in the gaps for concepts that haven't yet been created yet. As a avid player of games, I have had many Ideas for new projects but know nothing of game development, still, its nice to dream :) Any cool games that havent left the imagination realm that youd love to see made?

Probably a shooter that is less linear trench-slogging with quicktime-events that were thrown-in to make sure the buttons you normally don't press still work... and more... well.. I was thinking something that was more "final objective oriented with no care how you get there or how badly you screw-up in the process so long as you can fix it" with several random events set into motion that could totally force you to fail and need to be expertly manipulated without any hand-holding to line-up with the final climatic showdown... Kinda like trying to manage kharma in Fallout to get good/bad endings, but instead it will constantly change to something you don't want it to be without constant upkeep, like letting your reputation fade into obscurity and your deeds suffer from constant entropy (and having some missions that REQUIRE you to lie-low, to LET your kingdom crumble around you in order to undo a simple mistake, to act in secret). That tiny little realization that even though your deeds will be your legacy, that legacy can and likely will begin to fade the very second it fizzles out. So you act. You move. You give your world something to talk about. You also create your own difficulty spikes by how you prioritize your mission-objectives, path-finding ability (Portal/Mirror's edge?), and time-management to deal with random events that could fatally bog your character down if you take too many risks too often (leading to players horrified of the idea of running behind their own pace). Example: it could be possible for any NPC to forget who your character is (without scripting), which may or may not be a good thing. Especially if you're on a time-sensitive mission that required their cooperation. Sure, you could earn and hold onto a keepsake to remind that NPC you've earned their trust (or the trust of another NPC they trust) but that takes up inventory and itself will be fragile.

An RTS where you're not some omniscient being, but instead a general, sitting in your tent getting reports from the frontline. The map would be just that: a paper map on your table. The big thing? You don't need to stay in the tent. You could join your forces and fight side by side with them, issuing commands via radio without the help of the map, only the reports and what you see. Preferably, I would put this during WWII, and have a campaign. With no missions. Being the general, you choose which route to take through enemy territory, and the enemy will counter you in order to defend themselves. Each battle's map would be generated based on a highly specific set of parameters, taking into account the specified terrain you are attacking into, where you are attacking from, and how well fortified the area is. Important places such as cities and sites of major engagements would have preset maps based on the historical battles that took place there (So you could go and defend Bastonge yourself, or relive the fall of Berlin). If you die? That's it. Game over. Obviously, you could retreat if you're losing, but that would give the enemy a chance to advance, and they won't just sit inside their borders while you ready yourself to go back. The game can just as easily become you desperately defending your home against the enemy. This game would also be infuriatingly hard, with the AI being the best it could possibly be. Two difficulty levels would exist for people who don't want to spend their life trying to get through the tutorial, being an actual easy mode, and a mode where the AI knows about everything you do and counters it using the usual AI. Basically, a mode for wanting to roleplay a heroic sacrifice. As I mentioned before, the setting would be WWII. As in, actual, no jetpacks WWII. Technology would stay the same as it did IRL, and there isn't some made up evil HydraDeathsheadsocietyOrganization that's trying to do "X EVIL THING", it's just actual WWII. Until you show up and intentionally lose the war against France as Germany for the lolz.

Pretty much anything set in the Warhammer: 40,000 universe other than what we have now. The Dawn of War series has been out for a while, and I honestly haven't played Space Hulk, and Space Marine is aging. Other than that, a lot of the recent releases with 40K have been pretty...meh. Warhammer 40K is a great universe for pretty much any genre: strategy, action, RPG, hell, even a more adventure-oriented game (ala Telltale Games) could get pulled off. It's a versatile universe for gaming. Think the concept I'd like to see be done with it would pretty much be Dragon Age: Warhammer 40K. That'd make me cry tears of joy. That, or a Total War: Warhammer 40K.

I know we're probably working towards this and all, but the one thing that'd just slay competition would be a full immersion VR. I mean, I don't mean the Oculus, I mean like we walk into a machine it scans for vital signs and we are physically transported into a game as like an avatar and we walk, run, etc. as the avatar and when our character is out if lives, we're removed from the game and come back into the conscious of now. The machine would kind of work like the scanners in Code Lyoko or the machine wired to the Matrix in the Matrix films.

that actually exists; it's called Heroin, and it certainly does slay the competition.

Check out Angry Joe's vid on Eternal Crusade: [Link] It's only Pre-Alpha, but damn it looks promising if they can pull it off! 500vs500 Planetside style of gameplay in 3rd person.

As someone who actually works in the game development industry, I find it funny how people think these ideas haven't been made yet. The real challenge with making these things is getting and organizing a team to do it, as well as pay the people enough to get the job done. Big companies don't like investing in risky out-of-nowhere ideas, and the indy companies that are willing to try the weird ideas don't have the funds to do it right most of the time. Also, it's interesting to see how much people underestimate the work involved in some of the ideas they suggest.

My only wish would be for the resurgence of CRPGs. Which is sort of happening. So I'm content.

Nice! Thoroughly enjoyed both Planetsides so if they pull this off well I think it'll be a hit.

I want a game where I can play as any level of noble in Feudal Europe, the Arab world, the Central Asian steppe, or India. I want to carry my dynasty to the top of the food chain through multiple kingdoms. I want to be the genocidal decider of the world. Then take that completed mission and port it to another similar game and continue on over a thousand years. ... Wait, I can already do that. Death to all rival siblings!

An anime martial arts game based on reality. Which means that no 90-pound 12-year old girl with the striking power of a battering ram... Which means that to level-up strength, you have to lift weights. To level-up speed, you have to do speed-related training (sprints, Olympic-lifting, agility training, speed-bag (boxing), etcetera). To level-up endurance, you have to jog and whatnot. Nothing magically goes up because you defeated somebody and gained experience points. It'll feel a lot like Eve... I also would love a remake of Final Fantasy VIII, but in an epic, 4-hour movie format, characters slightly redefined physique-wise... But since we're talking about video games... FFVIII sequel in PS4, where American and English-speaking European novelists are responsible for the dialogue and perhaps even the entire storyline. Same goes for the movie-remake. Speaking of which, I would love to see a Final Fantasy game where the main male characters are beefed up, looking like a young Conan the barbarian instead of a Justin Bieber with a V-tapered face...
