Yes I'm sure by now we've all seen the photo. What do you guys say it is, Black and Blue or White and Gold? I say it's Black and Blue.

First time I saw it black & blue. Second time it was white & gold. Third time I saw black & blue. Fourth time I saw a collage of the dress in various dark and light shades of black & blue/white & gold. Fifth time I saw it the top half was white & gold the bottom half was black & blue.

Well... However I look at it, I can't seem to see the gold as black, but I understand why the white could be blue. Still, I see white and gold .-.

Two minute explanation 6 second explanation Personlly, I saw blue and black at first, but then I saw white and gold the second time I saw the dress. Now I just kinda the see the in-between colors a color picker will find if you put it in Photoshop or something. People keep citing neuroscientists but tbh I'd like to see what a color theorist / artist has to say about it. Color is a fascinating thing when it comes to human brain. Plus, it's clearly on the threshold of where your brain will start correcting for color, but I'm wondering if this is because it's digital. I've never heard of a phenomenon (as in the widespread disagreement) like this occurring. So I'm thinking this can only occur because 1) the digital image is what creates that threshold, 2) it happens more often than we think but the internet has allowed people all over to experience it, or 3) a bit of both. Overall, people are getting annoyed / angry that people won't shut up about it, but I still think it can provide fascinating insight into how humans perceive color. People who are excited and pretentious about being "right" that it's black and blue are what I personally find annoying, lol, because they're just straight up missing out on the fun. You can't really be "wrong" in this case, I think. Yes, the DRESS is black/blue but the image is up for discussion, obviously.
