Hello, I am new and recently joined a large scale Sci-fi RP. I myself am a big fan of Warhammer 40k and I like to convey the grimdark setting of that universe in my own RPs. Any fans of WH40k know that WH40k likes it's gore. Be it ripping off body parts to horrible creatures with their guts dragging over the floor. Now my questions is: how much gore is allowed on this forum. I know the forum rules state that there is no allowance for "mature content". But what does that mean? Does it mean that there is no allowance for gore? Or is it talking about Erotic Roleplay, or ERP for short? I would love to get an answer for this :)

The mature content does primarily refer to explicit or sexual text as that causes issues with Google's adsense; but we still do have to have considerations for the younger members with regards with content. We generally are less concerned with gore content just as long as it's not excessive. The basics of it is that the gore can accentuate the post but it shouldn't be the post. If you're ever not sure of a post, feel free to send it to me and I'll let you know how it sits.

I believe it would come down to 'how' you write the gore in. There are ways to write gore without it sounding like it's written by a mentally unstable person who likes to harm innocent kittens during their free time.

@Kangaroo This is pretty much the part about which I am talking about, the entire extract isnt even one tenth of the complete post. I appologise for my bad writing, kinda new at this :P **beginning of extract** Azazel calmly stepped towards the enemy emplacements. Only when they were really starting to focus her did she accelerate. She burst through a defensive wall with her shoulder and grabbed a Draconian by it's throat. Observing the new xeno she held in her hand for a while she eventually punched through his guy and ripped his intestines out. As the other Draconians saw what happened to their comrade they started to fire on her. Though the armour could take much, from this close even small arms were dangerous. She used to body of the Draconians as a shield and ran at the others, beating them to a pulp with her fists. They are not a frail species but still no match for my strength. At this rate I wont even have to use my hammer. Just as she thought that some Draconians in battlesuits appeared. A grin formed on Azazel's face, though it was covered by her helmet. Now this seemed like the real deal, the others were probably just some personel quickly armed or had no time to put their suits on. She activated her hammer and dashed at the newly arived troops. It resulted in a one sided carnage. After securing the emplacement single handidly she checked in with her troops. The reports were far less victorious. Heavy enemy resistance on all sides. Though the Confederate troops were clearly better diciplined and had a slight edge in ranged combat the enemy was clearly much more proficient in closecombat. Their energy swords cutting through the soldiers like they were but butter. Hmm, maybe this is going to be fun after all. It apeared that one Draconian was still alive, he was trying to crawl away and was talking to someone. Azazel slowly closed in on him, her footsteps leaving small tremors each time she put them down. She then place one of her armoured boots on the head of the Draconian. "I hope whoever is on the other end of that line will enjoy this sound, because they will be next" She slowly squezes the head, the Draconian screaming in agony until finally his skull gives up and all that remains is a large bloodstain. **end of extract** That's basically it. Is it too much or is it allowed?

I wouldn't call that extract too much, there's only really a little bit here and there. No worries about the writing, we all had to start somewhere :) Just remember is that the gore content is a tool, not the purpose of the post.

What about gore actually serving a stylistic/dictional purpose in prose? I tend to take on a writing style appropriate to the setting I'm in; so my Mafia gangster's prose descriptions are littered with vernacular, while my Fantasy characters are introduced in more floral style. So if I was playing a murderer of sorts, I would definitely want to place emphasis on all the vilest parts of his behavior.

I think it may come down to GM preference.

Yeah, Google adsense doesn't seem to care about the gore thing (nor society at large; see TV these days) so it's basically GM preference. When we say 'explicit' we're talking about sexytiems.
