[Raven's Note/Preface: While I have experience in role-playing on other forums, this is my second attempt at posting an interest check and role-play on the Guild site. To that end, I apologise in advance if my decisions are not quite what you might expect from a GM. =)]
Warriors of Sengun is a Pokémon role-play, set in a new region, Sengun, and featuring 51 new Pokémon in addition to those that have been found in other regions. I've taken great care in detailing as much as possible on both the Sengun region and the new species, and will provide more information on everything in the OOC tab when the thread is launched properly. (The thread is already prepared to be posted to Advanced Role-Plays. I'm used to just putting up a thread as it is instead of needing to place an interest check first.)
This was originally posted in Casual about a week ago, but I've chosen to move it to Advanced where it will hopefully see more interest (and not get buried by the speed of the Casual forums).
Player-characters, including my own, will be beginner Pokémon Trainers seeking to begin their journey on Sengun's Pokémon League Challenge, which has only recently been launched. The Sengun League offers a substantial cash reward to anyone who reaches the rank of Champion, after having bested the Gym Leaders and Elite Four. Of course, as we will discover, Sengun has more going on than just the Pokémon League...
Co-GM: @NeoAC has agreed to fill the role of co-GM, much as I do for The Road to Indigo.
Participants: Previous experience has taught me that the total number of participants should be no more than seven or eight, including myself and my co-GM who has already expressed interest in the story I plan to tell. So we're looking for five or six more to sign up. Acceptance will not be on a first-come-first-served basis; the quality of the applications is what will count the most towards getting in.
Posts: Post length is less of an issue than posting frequency. I'm not the strictest Advanced-level GM out there: average post length should probably be somewhere in the two to three paragraph range. (Collaborative posts will definitely add to post length, and are more than welcome.) As for frequency of posts, I'd like to see a somewhat frequent post rate: participants shouldn't take more than two weeks to get things done.
Mechanics:
- Warriors of Sengun will follow Generation VI mechanics and movesets as of Pokémon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire. The new species have been designed to fit into the same style.
- When it comes to things like battling or catching Pokémon, there are no dice rolls, tricks or loopholes to worry about; it's all up to the writer to detail what their character does. If you want to win a match, you describe how you win. A player-vs-player match, however, should be discussed between the appropriate participants before writing.
- I will update the levels and moves of all characters' Pokémon on a regular basis. Subjects like levels and base stats will not be discussed throughout the role-play. We're borrowing some of the style used by the Pokémon anime in this way.
- Including the new species that I have designed, there will be about 300 Pokémon available to choose from over the course of the story. I've restricted the numbers because I don't want to keep tabs on each and every species, especially since I've added to the total.
The basics of the character sheet template are as follows. (A proper, descriptive version of this template will be available in the full version of the thread, as some parts need context to be properly understood.)
Questions, comments and interest are all welcome. =)
