Shoutout to @LightAlysCity and this thread for the inspiration.

If you've seen my intro, you'll know that I'm not inspired by much these days, and that I haven't really done any RPs for a rather long while. When I am inspired, though, it's usually by music. I want to get back into writing and, to help further my progress, I've created a playlist of songs. The drawback to this is that my playlist is pretty small - 33 songs to be exact, and most of the songs sit on the same genre, which prompted me to come here. Now that this thread exists, I'd like to turn it into a hub of inspiration for not just myself, but any others who might have a bit of writer's block that can be freed through music.

So - what songs get the creative cogs turning for you? If you could, please link them, whether it's a YouTube video, SoundCloud or Bandcamp link, whatever. As with Aly's thread, please be sure to name the artist and title of the song; listing genres isn't necessary, but it's encouraged, if possible.

To start off, I'll link a song here for you. Maybe you'll find some inspiration from it.

Nicholas Llerandi - "Memphis"

Hopefully, this thread takes off and we can all be a bit more inspired to write. Looking forward to all the new inspiration!

when i write or do anything on the computer really, whether it's a graphic or a post, i tend to find myself listening to Flume and/or his remixes through bass heavy headphones. i really really really like his chill sound, and i wish i could find some more artists like him (hint hint)

somehow in my head, this became the themesong/title sequence for one of my stories. I see it in my head every time the song comes on shuffle.... it's not even a great song, honestly, but it puts me in the mood like nothing else. Right now it's playing in the background as I type this and I'm looking at my characters jamming out and grooving down the street like assholes while everyone else rolls their eyes, until the whole pirate crew is doing a whole, like, Slumdog dance routine to befuddled stares.

Usually though, for most writing, anything by Balkan Beat Box is good for generic writing fuel.

oh and the Decemberists will never steer you wrong.

It mostly depends on the setting or the beat of the music.

Songs like this usually get my Sci-Fi or near-future appetite wet,While songs like this get my medieval fantasy side working.

I tend to look at monstercat and Derek for help on roleplays as they have really good songs, and they REALLY help when it comes to the genres above.

I'm 8tracks garbage to be honest. This playlist is pretty good when I want to write.

General writing, I go for prog rock or classic rock, generally on the softer side, something uplifting, or something psychedelic. Jimi Hendrix, The Rolling Stones and the Foo Fighters are standbys for me. Jazz works, too, but listening to it too long makes me tired.

Something like this or this

And of course, when it comes to cranking out a 50,000 character post at 2 in the morning, it's heavy metal all the way. Accept no substitutes.
