The dimensions and universes are being pulled together. Taken over by an evil team, the Pokemon Palkia has started to bring disaster and havoc to multiple words. People and creatures are being displaced, and soon enough, a colossal, deadly collision will take place, potentially wiping out entire worlds. An entire league of villains with ill-intentions has formed, and it turns out, it's up to you to stop them.

Seven "players" have been selected by the primal gods to defeat the approaching evils. They are unique to the rest of the Earth's populace, with the potential to adapt and take powers from residents of other worlds.

You, as a hero, or even a villain, can destroy or create deadly dangers. You will gain up to five "partners" on. "Partners" are people from other universes who are matched to you, they don't necessarily have to agree with it. The gods decide who your partners are. And they cannot leave the area with the potential to abandon the mission, or they'll meet an ugly demise.

Team up with your favorite anime/manga/gaming characters, and save [or destroy] the different worlds.

Does the setting for this story take place in the future?

If you mean future on Earth, then no. but it won't really make a difference because the main story mostly won't be taking place on Earth anyways.
