Hey, this little thread is to address a type of thread I've found to be somewhat common in 1x1's Interest Check section, I'm sure you've seen it around somewhere, the type of threads where in a person lists out their basic info and some more specific stuff about what type of RP's they're looking to join. I find them quite interesting and it's good to get an insight on some of our fellow members. But I was wondering what opinions you guys might have in this regard, namely, the following two questions: 1. What do you think about people sharing such vast amounts of information in the interest check sections? (This is a nooby observation, so please bare with me; So far the general quality of threads I've found in Interest Check boards are usually simple and specific, pertaining to a single/few ideas, so sometimes it seems a little out of place to see a thread packed with personal preferences and information. Not that I have a problem with it or anything.) 2. Do you think there should be a designated board for this type of thread? ; A 'recruitment' board of sorts, where you find a player THEN build your RP around similar interests and ideas. (I like to think this is a good idea, but such a board could easily be made moot by merely filling these details in your bio section. Regardless, it could act as a place for open discussion or criticism, e.g. say a player notes in a personal information thread that they will never abruptly quit an RP for no good reason, another player could come forward and share their experience of the contrary.)

An area for these threads would be useful, as it wouldn't be specific to 1x1. It would be nice to have a repository for personal preferences and the like, especially if it could also be used to advertise for roleplays.

I suggested a similar thing to Mahz, where it was more of a Player Interest Check, where people outline the types of RPs they are looking for and GMs could come recruit them if they need more people.

Since I do frequent the 1x1 section more than the groups, I generally have a liking for more detailed interest checks that also tell me a little something about my partner and what they're looking for from me. It's a fast and easy way to judge whether or not it's worth the effort of answering them. I may be a little picky though. I like seeing expectations and limits and plot ideas up front, then I can respond with my own back right off the bat. Streamlines the process, for me anyway. There are some that I admittedly think might be going overboard with the sharing, but if they're comfortable telling the board those things, then there's no reason for them not to, I suppose.

On the other note, I do think a place where everyone can advertise their interests or quickly check up on other players and 'shopping' around if a group needs more writers or some such could be a great idea, if people post there. There is an old thread HeySeuss put up here that kind of matches the idea, though it could probably do with being updated and put in a more visible position.
