She's a cheery girl when she's in a good mood! But then there's all these little fuck-ups in her head that make her seem really...Well. Sad. Or bored. Or out of her damn mind. One could actually mistake her for being bipolar or mentally handicapped thanks to two of her three "illnesses", but she is actually a bright young lady that can figure out things well when she's not stressed. In fact, don't stress her. Please. It's bad for her health and those around her if not detained. Other than that, she's got quite a little light to her eyes despite being in a shitty place to live in. Could be worse, you know? Could not have a home at all!

Now. On with my story.
It all began with a father's love- wait, did I say love? Let me correct that.
It all began with a father's
rejection of his child.
Not born a man, so not worth the air. Not born full-blooded Asian, so not worth the time. Not born
right. Mai had the unfortunate pleasure to growing up hating her own self for thinking she was born "wrong" no matter how many times her mother and grandmother tried to assure her that she was fine the way she was.
Now, you'd think self-misogyny would be the reason she was admitted into this place? Nah.
In order to make herself feel better about anything, she started out as an adrenaline junkie. That led to insomnia. That led to hallucinations. And refusal to take medical pills started causing actual damage to her brain the more she went out of her way to get that heart-racing high or simply found it
impossible to try and sleep at all during the night, even to the point that sedatives were fought off by the way her immune system developed to fight off medicine that she tried repetitively. Thus developed the
derealization syndrome. Thus came the
brief bouts of psychosis. And thus came a triggered condition of
Ganser syndrome.
A literal cocktail of mindfuck. Welcome to the crazy house, kiddy.
