"Ugh.....I thought this day would never end." Leon said to himself as he walked home from school. He didn't have such a good day at school plus he was extremely tired. Well that was his fault because he decided to stay up and play video games till four in the morning. His friends Luis and Ashley decided to go hang out at the mini mall but he decided to pass on it and figured he could get in a nap before his parents came home. His school wasn't too far from his small neighborhood. Then again Sandy Shores, the town in which Leon lived wasn't very big and the nearest city was about an hour drive away. Leon didn't mind though. He had lived in this town ever since he was a baby. It had everything he needed. Though after graduating he would eventfully have to leave it to pursue college. That wasn't for another two years though. Finally making it to his house Leon noticed that the front door was cracked open. Hmm......mom and pa usually lock the door before leaving. He thought at first. Maybe one of them came home early. Leon shrugged it off and headed on in.

Kijani was carefully unpacking her suitcase in the small room that she'd been offered, dancing slightly to the music flowing from her headphones.
She couldn't quite remember how her father knew these people, who had offered to board her. Had it been his old college friend? Or perhaps a former co-worker? She had no idea, but it was surprising.

This place was... quaint. That was a nice word for it. Rustic would be another. It was a very cute place. Kijani truly expected any person who knew her father to have the best of everything. Furniture, cars, appliances... At least something more modern than this. Oh well. She certainly would keep her disappointment to herself.

With her music thumping, she put her clothes away in the small dresser. It was full before she got half her things out of her massive suitcase. "Hmm.. Where am I going to put my shoes..." She shimmied as she pulled the suitcase across the room.

Leon came in to find an empty house. "Well.....I guess they just forgot to lock the door." He said to himself. as he was putting his backpack away he heard footsteps up stairs. Oh crap......there's someone in here? He thought. It couldn't have been his parents. Neither of them would be making such noise from above. Leon only assumed that someone broke in his house. He grabbed the closest thing next to him which was the broom and slowly made his way upstairs. From the sound of it they were in the guest room which was cracked open just like the front door. Leon quickly kicked the door open only to find a young girl that he had never seen before. From the looks of it she was around his age. "Who the hell are you and how did you get in my house?!"

Kijani heard noise behind her, through her music. She felt eyes. Whipping around, there was a weapon pointed at her and she reacted. Her leg lashed out, and she kicked high. The weapon popped from the man's grip into the air, and she caught it.

In that moment, as she moved to attack, she realized the weapon was nothing more than a broomstick. The man that she thought was attacking her was merely a boy, one that looked her own age. Blinking, she set the broom the proper side down.

"You startled me."

How in the hell did she do that? Leon thought as the broom was taken from his grasp. "You still haven't answered my question." He then said. His parents never mentioned anything about them having visitors so he assumed she just broke in. Leon immediately got his cellphone out to call the police but he noticed he had one text message. It was from his mom saying that he shouldn't be alarmed by the young girl in the house. That she was going to be staying with us for a while and she also told him not to make a big deal out of it. "...So you're Kijani?" He then asked with a much more calmer tone.

"I am." Kijani held out the broom to him. "I suppose you've been informed of that a bit late. You must be Leon. A pleasure to meet you." She stuck out her hand. Her nails were short, but manicured and buffed to a shine. Either she'd worn gloves while traveling, or she'd done her nails at some point. In fact, all of her seemed remarkably put together for someone who had presumably sent the day travelling.

Kijani was a bit obsessive about her appearance, hating to be thought of as dirty or disheveled in any way. Meeting the son of the adults who were boarding her was an occasion where she needed to make the best impression.

"I apologize for..." She searched for a word to explain what she'd done. "My response. I was startled."

"Yeah I seem to always be the last one to know about things." Leon said retrieving the broom while shaking Kijani's hand. "Well it's nice to meet you. Sorry about the whole broom thing. Kind of my fault why you got startled." He finished saying. "I see you're still unpacking. I'll let you continue. If you need something or have any questions my room's across from here." Leon then said before leaving the room. After returning the broom back into the kitchen he headed back to his room and pretty much stayed there working on homework and playing video game till his parents go him with dinner. It was pizza from Papa Mario's the only local pizzeria in the town. Once he smelled the aroma Leon paused his game and headed downstairs. "Ah Leon. Don't tell me you've been in your room since you got home. Have you met Kijani?" His mom asked as his dad went to go let their guest know dinner has arrived. "Yeah I have. Thanks for letting me know though." Replied Leon as he got himself a plate and took a couple of slices before trying to head back to his room. "Oh no. You're going to eat down here tonight." His mom told him. Leon sighed in annoyance as he went over to the table.

Kijani came down when Leon's parents arrived. She introduced herself with politeness, even though she was secretly annoyed with their son's antisocial behavior. She was new in town, and Leon couldn't even be bothered to have a conversation? Even now, he didn't want to sit at the table with her... how immature!

"I must thank you again for opening your home to me. I truly appreciate your generosity and kindness." She shot Leon a brief look at the last word. "My papers for the school transfer all seem to be in order. Is there anything I can do for you to make my stay easier?"
