Maria shook her head. "I'm going to stay and watch over you, just to be certain you'll be okay." She pulled her phone out of her pocket, intending to check her messages, and it went utterly crazy, ringing over and over and over again.
"What the heck?!" She turned the volume down and then scrolled through her messages. She had over five hundred of them from... "Kaleb, for the gods' sake." Each message had more exclamation points after "Where R U?!!"
"I'm fine, in Underworld." she responded. "Didn't Liza tell you?"
She didn't have an answer, so she scrolled through her Facebook, which had much the same problem, including all sorts of comments on her page about how she'd gone missing and everyone needed to search for her. She posted the same message and then turned her phone off against the inundation of beeps and boops.
"You might have warned them that I'd be disappearing!" she told the figure on the bed.
