that's what I did with Lyger. I've done his origin twice in about a year...I wasn't thrilled with the prospect of doing it a third time, so that's why I took the route I did

Just a question, how long have superheroes/meta-humans been known about in this world?

While I like both, I'm probably a bigger fan of gravity manipulation. So many possibilities with it.

Aside from some mystery men in the 40's, the first public diplays of meta activity have only recently occured. The general public has only known about them for a few weeks.

@EddieBrock Yea, am vying for that myself. People never think outside the box with superpowers. A lot of options with gravity.

New post is up. I at first wanted to just jump to a scene in front of the safe heaven that Icon mentioned, but I didn't want to keep Icon hanging and after I started to write what happened directly after the last Icon post, I just felt I needed to finish it.

Character I’ve created: Gareth Fernley

Alias: Gravimetric (Metric for short)

Speech Colour: Yellow once they’re available.

Character Alignment: Hero

Identity: Secret-ish (Known to a select few)

Character personality: Despite many rich trying to dispel the typical stereotype, Gareth is brash, narcissistic and arrogant like so many news pundits enjoy pointing out. However, beneath all the bravado and showmanship, Gareth is a morally good person, if not a little apathetic to the feelings of others.

Uniform/costume: (replace symbol with a large G)

Origin: The son of Randal Fernley, multibillionaire, corporate mogul and owner of Fern Enterprises, a huge multinational, multifaceted conglomerate, Gareth was never for want of anything. Except for excitement. As a result, Gareth spent most of childhood as a juvenile delinquent, running into the law on many occasions. Nothing “Daddy” couldn’t buy his way out of. Then one day, sneaking out of his vast mansion at the age of 15, Gareth slipped from the drainpipe and plummeted to the ground. Moments later, Gareth found himself floating face first, inches from the ground. He found that by merely willing it, he could float higher and lower. After further experimenting, he found he could do it with other objects. At first he thought he was a psychic, but he couldn’t move objects, just make them float, drop and make them even heavier. Once he began researching on the Internet and on various message boards, he figured out that he had the power to manipulate gravity.
For several years, Gareth kept these new powers to himself, using them only to entertain himself. He didn’t know how his father would take the news. Once he turned 18 and had total control of his trust fund, he told his father, knowing he’d be set for most of his life if something went wrong. Randal, on the other hand, was quite pleased. He was quite power hungry and once he learned his son could control gravity itself, he began to see opportunities.
After another few years and many, many meetings with his company’s main stock holders, Randal convinced both them and his son of his brand new product: the world’s first company “superhero”. Only a few know that Gareth is “Gravimetric”, Fern’s new financial investment. A lot of promo spots and teasers have gone out, setting the stage for Gravimetric’s unveiling…

Michael “Mike” Foster: Gareth’s closest (and possibly only) friend and confidant of his powers, they’ve been friends since they were little and he was the first person to learn of his powers. He is also a creative individual behind the ideas for most of Gareth’s powers.

Gareth twirled the pen softly in his fingers as the marketing department’s legal advisor droned on and on about “marketing strategies” and “merchandising”. Gareth had had enough of these meetings; they’d been going on almost 5 years now. 5 years since his father had suggested that he use his powers in a “new” way and planted the idea of being a superhero in his head. Since then, he just wanted to throw on a wetsuit and start flying around. But his father had convinced him otherwise, that “they needed to do this properly and cover themselves legally”. Translation was he wanted to use this idea to make money. Not that Gareth cared. He just wanted to be able to use his powers out in the open, for the entire world to see. His phone buzzed silently in his hand and he opened the message.

*How’s life in the big conference rooms?* read Mike’s message.
*A total snooze fest. Think Superman had to deal with this kinda bureaucracy bull?* he replied back.
*Told you ya should have kept it to yourself, now instead of Lois Lane, you got Lotso Lame.*

“Gareth?” His head snapped up from the touchscreen to find everyone staring at him. He’d phased out in the middle of legal guy’s boring lecture. On the PowerPoint was a picture of some generic model in a blue, skin-tight suit with an overhead mask and huge G on his chest.
“What is that?” Quipped Garth.
“That would be your uniform, Gareth.”

His father’s low grumbling voice emanated from the top of the table, turning to face his son.

“You need something that will conceal your identity from the general public and protect you. If you had been paying attention, you’d know that the suit is made of a special Kevlar polymer.”

“Alright, but what’s with the blue? And that gigantic G on the front?”

“Surveys show that blue is a calming colour to people. We want you to be trusted by the public and this is one way to help. We also needed a symbol that would remain with them. A symbol of your adopted alias would certainly help get you recognised.”

Gareth looked over the image, sighing “Where’s the utility belt?”

Randal arched his hands and looked at his offspring disapprovingly “You can control the gravity of objects around you and fly, why EXACTLY do you need a utility belt?”

Gareth shrugged, “I dunno. It looks cool?”

Randal closed his eyes and raised his voice just a little higher than normal, “You will do to the R&D Dept. for a fitting of your new suit, you will return home and prep yourself for the press dinner tonight and you will take this seriously Gareth!”

Gareth avoided his father’s eyes as everyone took this as their cue to leave. His father stood and exited the conference room, leaving Gareth by himself.

No matter how much power Gareth had, he’d never have as much as his father clearly had.

“Meeting adjourned.” Gareth said to no one in particular.

Been shoddy with post frequency, everything's been hectic. Technically it is the holidays for me, but I'm working more than if it was school, past papers and stuff. So sorry about that, I should have the time to get a post out today or tomorrow though. I've had one half written for a while.

New post up. I think I will do a post or two more before I do another Iron Knight post. I ended the Iron Knight post with him falling asleep, so I wanted to at least get Zac and Kelly past the night before I started Iron Knight's posts again.
