<RP INTRODUCTION/SHORT EXPLANATION_>
Welcome to Red Star Rising, a Sci-Fi survival RP with resource management. This RP is intended to be different in the fact that I will have complete control over whatever you find, with a few resources being exceptions. For example; you can always find ice on the moon, so long as it recently transitioned from night to day(As ice will accumulate during the night and decay slowly throughout the day). And though you may find ice anywhere, only the GMs can say if there is a cave system, structure, vehicle, or wreckage nearby, and only I can say how much of what resources you will find there. I promise I will be generous with this system, so long as no one abuses anything(namely the Co-GM(s)).

This takes place after a Human Frigate crash lands on an uncharted moon. Resource management is essential to your survival - you must watch your oxygen, radiation, and Warmpth levels, gathering metals and minerals to build new equipment and tools. But you'll soon discover that you aren't alone...you'll have to build new weapons and armor, using everything at your disposal to your advantage.

Your mission is to regroup, survive, and repair a shuttle to working condition so that you might escape the desolate moon.

Also - please make note that any and all of the information displayed here is subject to change, as rules and procedures may be added or modified.

<GENERAL RULES_>
1. No godmodding, metagaming, or otherwise "spawning" your own resources or controlling someone else's character without consent. This rule applies to Co-GMs too, but I can - and I will - break this rule only in the case that I am
2. You will respect everyone in this RP, I will not allow the exchange of harsh words. If someone offends you, speak up; whether in the OOC or in a PM. The amount of chances you get to violate this rule will be based on the gravity of the offense.
3. If you do not post IC for more than 2 days without prior notification, your character will be killed. However if you have recently posted in the OOC then that time limit will be extended to a maximum of 4 days unless you are holding the RP, or any one person, back.
4. Your IC posts should be no shorter than four sentences, and I do not expect more than three paragraphs per post due to the nature of this RP.
5. When you post IC, please wait for 3 other people to post before posting again. If 12 hours pass without anyone posting, the posting delay is lowered to 2 posts instead of 3. If a whole day goes by without anyone posting then the posting delay is removed. Just don't double-post, cause that would be pointless.

<ROLEPLAY IC RULES AND PROCEDURES_>
1. My role in the IC concerns much more than just playing my character and being the GM. I am in control of all natural resources(Including "spawning" NPCs, but as long as they aren't too significant anyone can control them), so I will decide what you will find and in what quantity. I will also include "System Messages" in my IC posts, which will tell you what is nearby and warn you of any dangers that threaten your survival. Next, all GMs are in control of what kind of special or significant scenery and environments, if any, can be found nearby(such as caves, buildings, vehicles, wreckage, or canyons, craters, mountains, etc.).
2. Please abide by the stats of your character during combat, after all you got to choose the stats. Failure to comply will result in a warning, while continued disregard for this rule will be categorized as godmodding and/or metagaming.
3. Time will pass continuously in this RP, varying in speed dependent upon the speed of posting. If no more than 10 IC posts(will be voted on) are made in no less than 6 hours IRL, then the 10th post will signal the passing of 1 hour in the IC. If no less than 10 IC posts are made in no more than 6 hours, then the passing of the hour(in the IC) will be after the 20th post.
4. Oxygen will decay at 1 unit per hour IC, and is relatively easy to replenish as all you need is ice and any kind of Forge. You will be alerted when your oxygen levels are low enough to cause certain Conditions, but you cannot replenish oxygen when in combat.
5. Radiation will make traversing the surface during daytime more dangerous, and if you're caught outside during dangerous daylight hours then your character will receive varying stacks per post with radiation. If the star has just risen, you will get less stacks than if your character were to get if they were outside at midday. The more marks you have, the more you stage up through the levels of Radiation Poisoning.
6. Energy functions as the equivalent to Oxygen for a robot character, only it lasts much longer. In addition to a more expensive resource cost to refill/recharge, there are less warnings and Conditions that can occur from low Energy than there are for low Oxygen, with the results being much more lethal. This was originally going to be a survival mechanic also used in certain tools and equipment, but was removed due to overcomplicating the RP.

• In the character creation section, specifically you say you can have up to three characters first, and then say later that a pod-squad can be maximum of four characters. Is this right?
• This is more flavour than anything, but I still think that it will be important for character creation: What was the mission of the Frigate? On top of that, are we to assume that all of the nations of earth still exist?
• Is everyone an amnesiac?
• In a similar vein, what's the situation with earth and humanity and such? Have we colonized a bunch of planets? Have any countries formed into larger governmental bodies? Are their super corporations? Are we all employees of McDonalds Galactic!?
• Not really a question, but I understand if some of these details are being intentionally obfuscated for story purposes. I just need a little more information before I start on a pod-squad. (I love that - Pod-Squad)

A pod-squad consists of other peoples characters too, not just your own.

This is a remake of an old RP I tried to start, and a lot has changed since then. However, I did appear to forget the crew's original mission before crash-landing, although it's no longer important. I would say most of the crew would have forgotten the mission because of the impact or fear of the crash. I personally would forget about everything other than the family I left and wonder why I was even on the ship.

I'll quickly rip off of one of my other RP/video game ideas and say that we have colonized most of Earth's solar system. The USA, Canada, and most of the 'western civilizations' have bonded strongly, resulting from an increase of violence originating in and from Africa and the Middle East. All of South America, Central America, and Mexico were left to share colonies on Venus and Mars. China was allowed to colonize much of Earth's Moon, as well as having several space stations mingling with those of Japan, Korea, and other Asian countries around Jupiter and Neptune.

Space and asteroid stations around Saturn are considered shanty-towns and slum-stations, like Omega from Mass Effect.

Humans have also been branching out to try and colonize other planets, specifically searching for planets that are easier to terraform. It's very likely that this was our mission.

Corporations like McDonalds would have been busted for health code violations, more than likely being replaced by even cheaper soy-substitute companies. Supposedly considered "better in every way". Restaurant chains like Outback Steakhouse would have survived, but with even more expensive prices. Chocolate would also be a rare and expensive delicacy, sadly.

I have a feeling this RP isn't going to last...
Although most of my RPs don't. Just cause they either aren't popular, like this one, or cause something came up IRL.

I searched up anroid...all I got was the phone mascot.

Did you search Sci-Fi Android or Android Robot? I know I've gotten good results with "Android" somehow.

And I will stick with it, but this RP idea as a whole has probably been my least popular. Terraniux(Still debating a replacement name), Chronicles of The Lost, and The Iron Rim were my most popular. But everyone vanished with Terraniux. Chronicles of The Lost died about 10 pages(at about 10-15 posts per page) because some pair of jackasses were doing their own thing when I tried to pull them into the story with a crucial piece of the plot, only to have them stop posting. They showed up in the interest check for the remake like "Whut? How were we supposed to know that you wanted us to investigate the loud-ass gunshot?"

Anyways, The Iron Rim died cause I got a computer virus and I kinda just gave up on it after that.

My favorites are personally Terraniux and CoTL, but I still wanted to give this one a go. I think the stat stuff is a bit of a turn-off for people though...

My first RP ever died after the fourth post...words could not describe my disappointment.

As the for the stats, I think it is kind of a turn off for some mostly because it balances out combat. I'd wager most people who make a character go in with the idea that their character is the best in their field so to have to work at it could seem a bit too much work. As for me I've never tried it before so I'm eager to see how I do.

Heyo! Kinda new here, and I think the concept is really interesting. Though I must suggest something - screw the stats. The math kind of just dampens the role play and makes it sound more like a math question with a touch of sci-fi. I'll still post my CS though.

Thank you for your interest, and I've considered it. But Templar makes a good point, they do serve to balance out combat. And most stats are used only for combat.

Besides that, I'll be the one managing most of the stats for you. So the more I complicate stats for you guys, the more I'm really complicating them for myself.

On a side note, I have been figuring that strength may be unnecessary, Intelligence really seems to be totally unnecessary when you have different professions, and Endurance may be a little over done with the additional health. So I'll go ahead and ask if it would be better if I took the CS stats away and standardized them? Like everyone has so many actions per post, and so many attacks, but we all have the same? Before taking modifiers - like what Life Suit your character is using - into account, that is.

Biography: Mark was abandoned on the street as a baby, a poor but happy and kind couple found him in the rain, crying. They wanted to adopt him, but the police found out and put him into foster care. He grew up in the system, bouncing from foster to foster, before he had enough and ran away, hiding in New York City.
Mark got mixed up with the wrong crowd and did some pretty terrible things. Luckily, a man caught him singing in an alley and instantly recognized talent. The man, Drew Williams, took him in and turned him into a star, and he then went by the stage name "Jazz".
He met Christina at one of his concert, and they quickly fell in love. Mark proposed to her and she eagerly agreed. Unfortunately, he was found by his "ex-boss" and a couple "ex-co-workers", the ones he worked for all those years ago. They tried to kill him by slitting his throat, but somehow he survived. However, his vocal cords were destroyed and he could never speak again.
When the men found out he was still alive, they leaked his past to the press and killed Drew.
Thankfully Christina didn't leave him and accepted him as he was. Mark then decided to pursue a career in geology, which is what he is currently working in.

Personally, I like the stats. It gives me certain limits, helps me keep them in-power. The stats also gives me a sort of video game feel to it, especially when it comes to thirst, hunger, or oxygen.

Side note: A Geologist and an Engineer will be very useful. A Botanist will be useless for now, but they will be priceless later.

I was wondering how I should handle Profession-related knowledge, as all of it will go in the Data Library anyways. Maybe just say that...for example anyone can make something if it was researched by an Engineer and "taught" to them first?
Or say a Botanist can tell the difference between edible, medicinal, and poisonous fruits/vegetables, and can then "teach" somebody the difference? But plant research will still remain specific to a botanist, which would be a good combination with a doctor to create cures for illnesses.

But plants and illnesses will come...in time...

EDIT: I can't believe I forgot to respond to this, but I actually want to be a video game designer. And this is one of my game ideas. It'd actually play a bit more like Minecraft, with major influence from the indie games "Xenominer", "Starbound", and "Terraria".
