Yoshihiro Hotaka & Ashido Akigari

Within the Squad 1 barracks a meeting was to be held by the Head Captain. Yoshihiro called a small Captain meeting to discuss something that was worrying him. Within the large room of the Head Captain's office, the three Captains in question would arrive in his office to discuss the matters concerning him. He knew this would likely cause some un-happiness among some Shinigami but this had to be done...he had to put this plan into action and help keep the balance among the Squads of the Gotei 13.

Yoshihiro had called the Captains of Squad 4, 10 and 13 into his office for a small Captains meeting. Yoshihiro studied the Captains as they stood before his desk. Each one was as good as the next and each ran a squad with incredibly important roles. He then took a deep breath as he then exhaled before speaking in a deep voice "I am sure you know why I gathered you all here for this meeting. I've recently gone over your Squads and found they are lacking in members, which I find worrying as each of your respective Squads holds an important role. Squad 4 being specialised in training medics, Squad 10 in charge of organising large and even small scale operations and Squad 13 in charge of protecting the human world. While the other Squads do well for themselves, these Squads suffer and I see this as a weakness in our otherwise well rounded Military organisation. Weakness is something I cannot allow...if a strong enemy comes along tomorrow who will heal the Shinigami fighting the battles? Who will organise and strategize the battles? Who will protect the human world from the ever existing threat from hollows? With the little members each of your Squads have...none of this is currently achievable!"

Yoshihiro then closed his eyes as he took in a breath before re-opening his eyes and speaking once more "Now...I am sure you are Eager to know what my plan is on how to deal with this situation. Ultimately the plan will no doubt leave some Shinigami un-happy...however there is no choice. I have already discussed this matter with Central 46 and after some persuasion they decided to approve this. Starting today a large majority of Graduates from the Shino Academy will be joining your Squads to help fill in the many empty spaces. This means that there will be a drastic increase in work load and I ask that you get hands on with these new Shinigami and teach them all you know. This is an order...and so treat this situation with the seriousness it deserves."

Ashido had placed his right hand on his chin with his left hand supporting his right elbow as he listened to the Head Captain speak. After the Head Captain had finished speaking Ashido decided to give his opinion on the situation "Well Head Captain I welcome this change with open arms, after all I can't resist a challenge...however there is one thing concerning me and that is the chance of getting Shinigami that are more suited to combat than healing...with this in mind, I feel I may have to change the way I run Squad 4 and train Shinigami in both the art's of healing and combat. I've not been in a serious fight for a few years now and so I may have gotten a little rusty but I'm sure training these Shinigami in both Healing and Combat will shake some of that rust off...I hope this decision sits well with you. I just feel that this is best for the Shinigami joining my Squad...after all, every Squad except Squad 4 focus on combat in one way or another and it's no good forcing a Shinigami that wants to fight, to heal...I can certainly make them do both however, this may even make them more skilled fighters. Imagine that...fighters that could heal themselves during combat...how incredible would that be?" Ashido gained a smile just thinking about the possibilities!

Ashido tried to shake the smile off his face however excitement had gotten the better of him and so a smirk remained on his face "Sorry...I got a little carried away there. On a serious note Head Captain, I think this will suit the Squad well...at least then even some of the combat nuts can enjoy their time in Squad 4... "

Yakima stood beside the three other captains, his hands behind his back as he listened to the Head Captain. Inside, Yakima was slightly annoyed at the fact of this lecture. There was nothing really he could do to encourage new graduates to join his Squad. He wasn't willing to go through the extra mile, he was straight forward and thats how he wanted it to stay. However, Yakima kept a calm expression on his face the entire time and continued to listen. He knew that this meeting wouldn't be pointless and was hoping that the Head Captain would just give them some pointers or tips. But instead, it seemed like they had taken a much more drastic decision. He bit his lip, the fact that they had a lot more work to do only irritating Yakima more. He remained silent as the other captain began to speak up, excited about the the massive increase in recruits. Although it would make things easier, all Yakima heard was more paper work. He could also see other problems in this, such as unfit shinigami joining his Squad or resistant shinigami.

Yakima sighed, staring into the Head Captain with his aloof eyes "No complaints here. As long as these new recruits aren't detrimental to my Squads current progress, than I'm happy" He said with a monotone face.

Nene stood over a male in a bed, smiling down at him she held up a cube. "Now lets play a game. Easy mode start, the challenge will be to stand up and do five jumping jacks. The reward will be improved healing rate, the penalty will be your eyes changing colors to silver for the day." She said looking down at him who stared at his broken arms. "Oh yeah.... I could get Nishi in here to heal your arms, I'm sure she wont slip." Nene muttered looking around then moved aside when the man sprinted out of bed and started doing the jumping jacks even though his broken arms kept hitting each other. He did do them though, and the pain in his arms already vanished. "Good, i'll check on you later." She said although her eyes remained the same color, she did walk out of the room though and stared at her zanpakuto which was flashing red only. Her zanpakuto's way of showing anger.

Standing with a slight sway in wait in front of the Head Captain's desk, Sai looked towards both the Captain of Squad four and Captain of Squad ten with wonder. 'Hmm, aren't any of the other Captain going to sh-' Before she could finish her trivial thought, the Head Captain began speaking, detailing the reason he called the three of them to him. With both hands stuff into the pockets of her Haori, Sai watched the Head Captain's face, his expression showing just as much seriousness as the words he spoke. She gazed with straightened lips and awaited patiently, listening, however at some point during the lecture, a gleam manifested within her eyes while her hands slowly rose and met together in a clasp. Once the Head Captain had ended, the Captain of Squad four spoke up, which drew her eye's attention. 'Seems like he's talkative today.' A smile unknowingly brightened Sai's face as she listened to the male's train of thought in regards to the situation. Looking to the Captain of Squad ten as he added his opinion, it seemed that he wasn't as happy as Captain Akigari, but that didn't deter Sai's enthusiasm.

"I for one would be delighted to take on new members. The more the merrier after all, so they say." Releasing her clasped hands while her smile grew a touch more, Sai continued to give the Head Captain eye contact as she spoke with utmost confidence. "I understand the serious nature of this situation, a bunch of new members would certainly be beneficial. You can count on me and my Squad to work towards rectifying this issue, Head Captain sir." She added a short bow on the end of her reply in order to show her respect towards the Head Captain and his decision.

Nishi Matsuro

Nishi wandered the halls of the Squad 4 barracks, her Zanpakuto's strapped to her sides, the blades wrapped in white cloth. Nishi held some freshly cleaned towels in her arms however sneezed all of a sudden causing her to drop the towels, This made Nishi put her hands on her head as she bit her bottom lip before speaking "AH! OH NO, NO, NO! Captain Akigari will be so angry with me! Oh god, Oh god...what do i do!? Uhm...Uhh...OH!" Nishi quickly picked up the towels and ran down the halls of Squad 4 and then dumped them in a washing bin the dusted her hands off and nodded "There! All done!" Nishi then placed her hands on her hips feeling she did a job well done...despite actually screwing her simple job up, she felt she did good!

Nishi continued to wander the halls and see if there was anyone that she could help, however she ended up bumping into Nene which caused her to stumble back and look up at Nene who seemingly towered over her "NENE~! Nice to se-Uhm...I mean! fancy bumping into you!" Nishi poked her head around the door to see the person Nene had just finished healing someone...in truth...Nishi was kinda jealous...she wanted to be a healer really badly yet everytime she attempted to heal someone she'd end up doing so well only to somehow screw it all up again! Nishi turned her attention back to Nene and smiled "He's looking well! I'd say you did a good job Nene! A lot better than I have been doing lately...anyway. How are you Nene~?"

Nene felt a tiny little bump which caused her to turn around and look down at Nishi. She began to mention that it was nice to see her but stopped when she remembered that Nene was blind. It seems Nishi always forgot that Nene could see with kido, or she just felt bad about what happened. She told her that the man she "healed" was looking better which made Nene shrug. "He should, he won the game so he should be better by the day is out. Unless of course he wants to play another game." She said with a sly grin as she looked in the room where he was shaking his head. Nishi would mention that she was lacking in the healing department as of late, which made Nene laugh nervously. "Well.... maybe you should take some precautions when using your zanpakutos. Like a holster for the harming one. Or putting it aside." She said rubbing the back of he head as she looked at them in the white cloth. "Well I'm good but a question.... Which one is the healing one?"

Yoshihiro Hotaka & Ashido Akigari

Yoshihiro listened as the Captains each gave their input. It seemed the Captains of Squad 4 and 13 were quite thrilled about this situation...however the Captain of Squad 10 seemingly showed a bit of negativity towards this situation. This didn't bother Yoshihiro however...this was something he felt was necessary. If Shinigami were going to give these Captains some trouble then they clearly weren't fit to be Captains and if need be, Yoshihiro would test them again and remind them how to do their jobs properly..."Well then. I'd say we are all done here. You may now return to your Squad barracks and prepare yourselves...You're all dismissed."

Ashido listened as the Captain spoke and nodded then bowed after the Head Captain dismissed them. Ashido turned and made his way to the door of the Head Captains office and slid it open before stepping outside and placing his hands on his hips and taking a deep breath before exhaling. He waited for the other two Captains to exit the Head Captains office before speaking "So pretty exciting huh? In truth I'm glad this happened...I was getting worried about Squad 4's future as we are just getting swamped with casualties as it is...who knows what it'd be like in a war scenario. Anyway~ How about we all go get ourselves some tea? We can discuss this interesting situation properly then." Ashido gave a soft smile at the two.

Nishi Matsuro

Nishi blinked as Nene spoke then Nishi pouted a little when Nene mentioned a special holster for her harming Zanpakuto...then Nene asked the question. Which was which? This caused Nishi's eyes to widen a little as she then looked down at her Zanpakuto's and blinked, Nishi then gained a truly confused look as the raised her right hand to her mouth, extending her index finger as she placed it on her bottom lip "Uhm~...I-I don't know...it's so hard to tell! they both look the same...a special holster would help...but I feel that knowing me I'd somehow get them mixed up still" Nishi said as she looked up at Nene and smiled, rubbing the back of her head with her right hand now "I'm clumsy like that...I seem to screw up even the simplest of tasks..."

Yakima bowed his head to the Head Captain when they were dismissed, not speaking another word as he followed the other captains to the outside of the office. As they were leaving, Yakima was thinking of new strategies the entire time. Squad 10 was a smaller squad compared to the others and Yakima didn't mind this, he actually preferred it. He had many years of experience when dealing with small scale operations but large scales was a whole new thing to him. He was still learning the strategies and now this. It only added to the difficulties because now he'll have to be controlling these large-scale operations. He let out a light breath, looking up to the enthusiastic captain. No matter, this will act as a teaching experience. If I fail, then it is only my fault.

Yakima nodded his head at his peer's invitation instead of usually declining it. As much work as he had, he saw that the words of wisdom from fellow captains would be much more worth it. Plus, he had yet to actually meet or get to know most of the other catains. "To be honest, it sounds most stressful. I'm still getting the hang of large-scale operations and have yet to actually operate a serious large-scale invasion luckily. I've yet to operate in any wars, only partake in them. Plus, I would appreciate some pointers for a newer captain such as myself. I never expected being a captain would take so much work" Yakima said, referring to the mountains of paperwork they have to do.

Nene shook her head and frowned at her. "Now don't say that. You got accepted into this squad for a reason. If you were poor at healing then you wouldn't be here." Nene told her nodding her head before grinning. "Besides, I still get more complaints for how I heal than you do. So you must be doing something right." Nene said as she looked inside at the male glaring at her, causing her to do another sly smile. "So what about you? How has my little friend been today?" Nene asked as she looked down at Nishi, before motioning for her to follow. Nene would then lead them outside, probably so they didn't disturb anyone's rest.

Nishi listened to Nene speak...it was nice to actually get some reassurance that Nishi actually belonged in this Squad. She really did want to help people! However she was just simply so clumsy that her good deed would often be screwed up...still...Nishi decided to shrug this off and power onwards! No one ever got anywhere by being down in the dumps! "Thanks Nene! I'll definitely keep trying! one day I will manage to become one of the best healers around! " Nishi nodded and gave a bright smile as she then followed Nene. Nishi thought for a second about how she had been recently, this prompted her to raise her right hand up to her mouth and rest her index finger on her bottom lip as she thought "Uhm~ Well I suppose I have been okay~ I am a little worried however...I don't want to stay unseated in this Squad forever and I'm worried the Captain will learn of some of my mistakes. I know the Captain is a nice and understanding man but even he must have a limit right Nene?"

Sai was the last of the three to leave the room, following behind the other two Captains before halting outside of the Head Captain's quarters and allowing the doors to close. She contemplated Captain Akigari's offer with a large grin, of course she'd take him up on it! Socialising with other Captains was important after all. "I'll gladly take you up on that offer Captain Akigari! And Captain Saiyo, on the contrary, I don't think being a Captain is alot of work hehe, I find it quite fun if I say so myself. To be honest, I have no qualms with the size of Squad Thirteen, although I'm glad to know that I'll be getting some new members as the majority of my current members know me too well so it's hard to have any fun with them! I think I'll plan some training ex-err, actually I'll get into that later ehehe" Sai hummed a chuckle after cutting her speech short. To continue with Captain Saiyo's concerns, he was a newbie after all. He may be experienced but not as much as herself so she understood why he'd find doing his duties hard at first. However, along the course of time, Sai believed that Captain Saiyo would get used to it and wouldn't notice the amount of work involved anymore. "Now how about we go get that tea! I can't wait to hear both of your ideas on the matter!" Itching to get going, Sai walked closer to Captain Akigari, giving him a stare to urge him to lead the way.

"Thats the proper way of thinking." Nene told her, and when they were outside she looked up at sky taking in a deep breath of the fresh air, while Nishi told her how she was doing. "Oh? Why not simply ask him what you can do to improve your profile? And mistakes are a part of life Nishi, look at squad twelve for example. They didn't succeed right away on everything. It took time for things to get this way. Besides the captain is a softy, as long as you didn't purposely murder someone he wouldn't yell at you that badly. He only lectures me on healing them properly. And I have some messed up ways of healing, so if he has a limit then it would be a hard one to hit." Nene said with a smile "Besides, its your intention that matters in the end. If you truly wanted to help, then I'm positive he would know that."

Ashido Akigari

Ashido listened to the two Captains speak and only chuckled a little when Captain Saiyo spoke so seriously about things. It was rather amusing to Ashido after all. "Don't worry about it Captain Saiyo~ You're new to the line up of Captains and so it's bound to be a lot to take on right now. However it gets easier...do not falter for a second Captain Saiyo! You must remain strong in the eyes of these young Shinigami...it's incredible how impressionable they can be...they're almost like children and so in their eyes you must be strong and show unbreakable spirit...they respect that! And before you know it you have a trusty third seat who does most of the paper work" Ashido then began laughing out loud as he placed his hands on his chest.

Ashido then looked to Captain Yoshi...Yoshimasuto just seemed like so much to say and so Ashido had decided to shorten the name to make it easier to remember...for some reason however the name Yoshi reminded him of a little green dinosaur thing with a long tongue...just his creative mind at work no doubt. Ashido smiled at Captain Yoshi as she accepted his offer and listened to the rest of what Captain Yoshi had to say. "I agree...we best save the talking for when we are relaxed and having some delicious tea! I know a great place..." Ashido nodded then began to make his way down the hall, motioning for the other two Captains to follow him. After a little walk out of the barracks and through the Seireitei they arrived at the fabulous place...in truth it looked a little run down...and small but Ashido knew the tea here was excellent!

"Well come on!" Ashido entered the small building then sat down at one of the tables...surprisingly enough the interior wasn't all that bad, nothing fancy but not bad. "It's a great little place! Wouldn't you agree Captain Saiyo and Captain Yoshi~?" Ashido waited for a couple of seconds before a young man with pink hair arrived at their table "Ah Captain Akigari! Back already? I've got to say it's good to see you again..." Ashido chuckled a little and smiled at the young man "What can I say Hatoru? I simply enjoy your tea...and after all...I feel it's important to support the members of my Squad no matter what it is they choose to do" Hatoru smiled brightly at Ashido and bowed "Thank you Captain Akigari! I am most grateful for your kindness!" Hatoru then straightened himself before speaking once more "What will you be having today Captains?"

Ashido rubbed his chin with his right hand as he thought for a moment before speaking "I think we will have some of your incredible Tea...after all..." Ashido then looked at Captain Saiyo and Captain Yoshi "I've spoken so highly of it...I think it's safe to assume you both want to try it." Hatoru bowed then made his way off to make the tea "He's a very hard worker...Hatoru wasn't a very confident man when I took over the Squad...the reason he ended up in Squad 4 was because he was bullied constantly just because of his pink hair. I've spent a lot of time with Hotaru training him to become a great healer but also an exceptional fighter...the truth was that seeing someone so emotionally weak truly upset me...he had so many dreams but due to him being the target of constant bullying his confidence was greatly dampened and so he felt as if he'd never achieve anything and that would only get worse if no one helped him. Through personal training stands a man who's healing abilities are exceptional along with his combat abilities...he now has the confidence to fulfil his dreams and to see him succeed in achieving these dreams and smile through it all really does leave me with a warm feeling in my heart...to me that's what being a Captain is about...after all look at this place...through hard work he purchased this place and everyday since he purchased it, I have been visiting to give my constant support. To help my Squad members achieve their dreams is all I want as a Captain...and in truth, in doing that this hardly even feels like a job anymore. Hatoru has a achieved one of his many dreams and of course that is to open his own tea shop. "

Ashido smiled at both of the Captains before speaking once more "Doesn't it just give you a warm feeling? It's not the flashiest place in the world but it has character and I like that...and besides...the tea truly is great, he is a natural when it comes to make incredible tea." Ashido then rubbed the back of his head before continuing to speak "My apologies...I've rambled on long enough. So how about you two? I'm interested to hear what you think it means to be a Captain..." Ashido then leaned forward, resting both his elbows on the table and resting his chin on his hands

Nishi Matsuro

Nishi continued to follow Nene till she stopped outside and looked up at the Sky. Nishi found this somewhat odd but she figured that somehow Nene could still see...I guess that was why Nishi didn't feel as bad as she should have about the incident. Listening to Nene's word's Nishi smiled and giggled a little "I suppose you're right...no one get's anywhere without failures. If someone succeeds in everything they do then they are likely only going to head for failure eventually...well...that or when failure comes it will hit them that much harder. Besides! I think that in time I will become a great healer! I want to make everyone proud of me and succeed! It's just going to take a lot of hard work...who would have guessed being a healer would be such hard work...and those Squad 11 combat nuts think they got it hard! I'd like to see them try heal someone who tries to hit on you!" Nishi clenched her fists as an aura of fire appeared around her...not literal fire but fire that showed her anger at the typical pig like men who always hit on her because she was cute..."Stupid Squad 11 pigs! They don't have a single brain cell between them!"

"I look forward to seeing this happen. And I doubt they think they have it hard, hardest thing they have going for them is who will fight back decently." Nene said with a chuckle before Nishi mentioned being hit on while healing. Nene took a moment of silence as she stared at her tiny friend then down at herself. "Y-yeah, it happens all the time. Its almost sickening at the amount of times it happens." Nene said, while really despite her appearance no one has ever done such things as hit on her. So when she called the squad eleven pigs, she nodded and held up her cube. "I'll.... be right back." Nene said as she walked back inside and a minute later there was a loud scream as she walked back out. "So squad eleven being pigs was what we left off on right?"

Yakima followed the Squad 4 and 13 Captains, listening to them with an eyebrow raised the entire time I can feel his enthusiasm from over here. I should keep my distance from him or it'll spread to me Yakima thought to himself. Although one thing he said did catch his attention. The idea of using one of his seated members to push his paperwork on. Although it was immoral, it sounded like a much better plan than doing all of the work himself. He followed the two captains in silence most of the time, entering a small regular looking tea shop. To be honest, Yakima much preferred this compared to other fancy shops captains are recommended to go. He was a simple man and this simple restaurant suited his every need. He turned to Ashido "I actually like this shop alot, I prefer it compared to the shops that are meant for captains. Those shops are over the top for me but this one is just perfect. I may actually come back here again"

Yakima nodded his head at Ashido, agreeing with his order. As they waited, Ashido began to speak about the pink haired waiter. He listened to the inspirational story, not really sure on how to react on it. He never had an emotional tie with his subordinates so he never had an emotional break through with any of them. Yakima felt proud of this, wanting to keep things strictly business when dealing with his squad members. Yakima looked at Ashido with a slight surprise at his question "Um, yes I suppose so" He said, not sure on how to answer the next question. So instead of actually answering it, he turned to Sai "Yes, we are interested in what you have to say"

Sai followed Captain Akigari as he lead herself and Captain Saiyo to a quaint little tea shop. She admired the interior while taking a seat, shifting her body into a comfortable position. Leaning her elbows on top of the table in front of her while resting her chin within the palms of both hands, Sai watched Captain Akigari's lips as he spoke highly about his Squad member. Now this really gave Sai something to smile about, which she did. "I do agree, it does give me a warm feeling whenever I see my Squad members achieve their aspirations also, or any other Shinigami for that matter." Sai added after Captain Saiyo spoke.

Captain Akigari's question was one that Sai wasn't expecting, however it did trigger her thoughts. Captain Saiyo then turned to her. "Eh? Hmhmh, well I'm pretty interested in what you have to say Captain Saiyo, since you are the newest one here after all. I assume that your opinion on this subject would be much different than mine or Captain Akigari's; the two of us seem to be on the same page by the looks of things." Sai smiled at the Captain of Squad ten, truly intrigued by ideas of what the Captain might think. However, since it seemed he passed the question to her first, Sai felt that she might as well answer. "Well, to give my answer to your question Captain Akigari, I feel that meaning of being a Captain is to command, train and protect your Squad, as one would usually think. Although, I also feel that being a Captain is a constant learning experience. I've met so many different personalities within my Squad alone during my time as Captain, each with their own specific way of wanting to handle certain situations. Truthfully I think a good Captain needs to be able to fulfil their duty, but to more than just what is required. Us Captains must go the extra mile for those in our command, but must also learn to do so in a way that helps our members improve and learn from their mistakes while thriving in situations that may or may not be extremely dangerous. With all that said, I don't think there is a specific meaning to being a Captain, apart from the definition of the word and it's duties of course, since we all have different personalities and outlooks on many things. For me, I just do what I feel I need to do, not solely what I'm required to do as Captain... I don't know if that is a valid answer but it's just what I think ehehe..." Finishing her thoughtful speech, Sai rubbed the back of her head sheepishly while releasing a short chuckle.

"Anyway, I think we should share our thoughts on the Head Captain's decision some point soon. I'd like to find out what you two have planned for your Squad members, old and new." Sai sat up straight, smiling with slight excitement while showing readiness to get down to business.
