Damn bruh

Edit: Eh, Sam, I'm gonna have to reject it. Basically everything Evans has said so far is on point. I think that you can sorta just recycle that char for another RP, and make something else?

That's... not at all what pain is, but I really have no room to complain about realism, considering the setting.

The biggest issue I have with your character is how he fits with the setting like oil in water. He's an edgy, sinister character more inherently immoral and sadistic than almost all of the franchise's villains, and you're trying to shoehorn him into fun pirate adventures on the open seas.

.... really? take a look at DD again and say my char doesn't fit into this rp cause who my char is basically based off mostly who works in the blackmarket, is cruel and sadistic and likes to hurt others for fun. does that not sound like a certain villain we've gotten to know lately?

I'm sorry, but in my mind, it's a no. However, since I'm a lowly co-GM, I will give Hebi control over the situation. Her word is prophecy, so whatever she says, we roll with it.

Yes, indeed. It sounds just like Caesar Clown, who wouldn't be seen dead with a heroic pirate crew or a ship of Marines. You've made an act-spanning villain into just some random guy, and still expect to be able to have his complete lack of morality gel with the rest of the game.

I can already tell she's gonna say no even though the descrpiton clearly states all the weaknesses and a major drain on stamina it is.

Acting like he doesn't fit the rp even though we've seen several villains like arlong and DD who were cruel and sadistic as all hell, but somehow my guy doesn't fit at all because he's not a nice guy. heh

edit: earnest, their pirates. who have their own goals and just because he has a sadistic nature doesn't mean he can't work well with others. just that when it comes to his opponents that he wouldn't hold back, but sure use this as en excuse.

@samreaperLet's put it this way: if he somehow got onto the crew, the way he acts would mean that the first chance that she gets, Maisie would punt him into the ocean like a croquet ball.

The fact that he's ridiculously dark, edgy and unfitting for a crew of supposedly heroic pirates kind of ensures he wouldn't last long amongst a group of said heroic pirates even putting aside all other problems.

EDIT:

Emphasis mine. That is the problem.

who said he would act all evil right in front of the tohers? ever heard of pretending to be nice and good? you're assuming he's just gonna let out all his sadistic self out in the open and not like he would care if someone didn't like him or not.

But Arlong and the like were, you know, antagonists? Bad guys? People who oppose the party, yeah? And your guy is in the party. Different scenarios, yeah?

My character is ready. Also it seems the pain doctor could serve as some sort of high ranking marine like the lava admiral.

Not to jump on a bandwagon here but if his power is meant to be a reflection of manipulating the chemical signals in the nervous system that bounce back and forth between the brain and an injury to produce "pain," that doesn't tie into how memories function at all save for one specific instance I can think of--causing an amount of pain so great that it inflicts psychological trauma. Considering trauma is something normally accumulated over a period of time (like growing up in an abusive household for years) or the result of something so drastic it's usually considered a miracle one survives it at all, I would think having a memory related application would indeed be very overpowered.

As for the turning into liquid thing and phasing through what he touches when coated in that liquid, to me it seems like kind of a stretch to associate. The idea behind his power is to manipulate "Pain," right? Adjusting his own sense of it fits, and having to touch someone else fits because Pain's closely aligned with the touch sense and, otherwise, he wouldn't be able to use the power offensively, but being able to phase through things and splash a liquid and whatnot just doesn't seem like an intuitive application.

It seems to me like this power would be much better suited to adjusting, causing, and transferring "pain" --why not make it so that, in addition to determining how much pain he himself feels, he can "add" his own pain to his opponent's? For example, if he gets punched in the face and lets himself feel it, and then punches his opponent in the face, his opponent feels like they've been punched in the face twice because that pain was added back.

This adds a risk-reward system to the power: he can choose to shut off or diminish his own pain sensors, which helps his endurance, but decreases his ability to deal damage, OR he can use accumulated pain to deal higher counter-damage, at the risk of taking too much pain and being defeated before he can give it back.

If you want to do something with drugs, like the pills and whatnot, rather than have those come from the power why not have him develop those as part of his occupation as a psycho doctor, like Chopper's Rumble Balls?

Ugh.... Picked the worst day ever to pass out for a whole day. Sorry people, I was feeling definitely pooped today and was barely able to do anything but sleep. The disadvantages of being a ligth weight when drinking.

@samreaper As said before, your character does not fit the image of a pirate crew, at least, not One Piece's image of a pirate, at the very least. Even then, your character does seem awfully interesting, when all is said and done. The fact that he can be a bit OP in his own right by being a doctor and whatnot with his Devil Fruit. As so, I am really tempted on making him an antagonist at some point of the RP. Maybe even a Shichibukai. I dunno, decisions, decisions.......

Anyhow, I shall discuss this with my co-GM's and get back to you on this.... Probs tomorrow. I still feel pooped right now :X I am so very sorry people! >.< I will see to it that this does not happen again. Also, if I am a bit lucky, I'll finish the IC post in a bit (pray to god I do)

Lol, it's cool. Discuss with me and Neo and Rin ['Cuz she/he is incredibly helpful], and we'll get it taken care of.

But, for now, I die.

You know, @samreaper, you could always just ignore Devil Fruits entirely and make your dude a chemist, shouldn't be too far of a stretch since he's already a doctor apparently. Remember, you can do weird stuff in One Piece without needing a Devil Fruit; you could very well say he received his abilities from chemical treatments. You can do the pain fluid bit by saying his pores produce a transdermal irritant- in other words, sweating tear gas. Shutting down his own pain response (which is generally a really bad thing just saying) can easily be explained with anesthetics I guess.

Now, the turning intangible and mental control things would be kind of hard to justify, so maybe let's run with the drugs and chemicals theme. Like, say, he's got a spinal tap with a variation of the Energy Steroids that he can use to temporarily bulk himself up ala Bane, or possibly some sort of gauntlet apparatus that can store up his sweat and launch it like Bakugou from MHA. Maybe he's got sort of a mad doctor thing going, mixing up crazy new drugs and steroids to test-run on his crewmates; that could be a simple way to have your character help out and give people a valid reason to keep him around, yeah? Just some suggestions, is all.

Or how about this; Make him the Medic from TF2. Syringe gun that shoots out chemical cocktails and all that. you gotta remove the intagiblity and mental control things, but they're the things people are complaining about anyway.

Plus who wouldn't want a crazy experimental German guy on their side. You can live Meet the Medic!

To be honest, even with the stuff suggested I think he'd work a lot better as a villain than a member of the crew, but that's just me I guess.

I'm fine with that, though it'll be hard to make him more than a single arc villain. I can't think of a single villain who was serious that lasted more than 1 arc. Buggy isn't serious so he doens't count.
