That was one very tiredly-written post... (Who knows, maybe I can write while asleep, too, rather than just program?) My character is rather distressed now, in any case. But thanks, SirBeowulf.
@Jack (and possibly NewSun):
Makes me wonder what "empty" really is... Since although Perfect is certainly a, eh, very unlikable individual (and perhaps not what could be termed as entirely sane, even psychopathy left aside), I neither saw him as even vaguely similar to empty nor expected the beasts of the world to interpret him as such before your first post on the fourth page.
- It can't be as closely related to memories as I'd initially expected, for instance, since Perfect certainly has plenty of those left. Nor knowing who one used to be, since Perfect seemed to have quite good overview of that, too ... at least until he picked up the poor Turncloak's memory and decided that he is the king of all.
(What motivates the empty and the beasts derived from such? Something has to, since they do not just sit around doing nothing, and it doesn't quite appear to be only the rather clichéd "they instinctively realize something is missing, so they try to et it back by murdering those who they sense still having it" either. In any case, they did not seem very interested in Perfect's memories, at least, not even the fake one...)
More tied to the more "human" feelings of - if to go by what Perfect is lacking - fear and empathy and the likes? (Would a fearless empath fare worse or better than the "average" human, for instance?) What is human, anyway? (If we want to go down the full philosophical path.)
